DFS reports a failing source drive

Server 2008 R2 (fully updated), 2 Dell PowerEdge T410 with perc 6 I/R controllers running RAID 10.  All drives on source and target have at least 30% available space.  The RAID on the source has been checked for consistency and has a running hot-spare
available.  When running the diag report the following is reported
 Volume D: is full or failing.
  Affected replicated folders: D
  Description: The DFS Replication service stopped replication on volume D:. This failure can occur because the disk is full, the disk is failing, or a quota limit has been reached. Event ID: 2004
  Last occurred: ‎2‎/‎17‎/‎2014 at ‎8‎:‎21‎:‎39‎ ‎AM (GMT-6:00)
  Suggested action: Increase the available disk space on the specified volume or move the replicated folder to a different volume. See additional information about disk space under the informational section in the "Amount of disk space used by replicated
folders" table.
It has functioned in the past but has failed.  I've formatted the target drive so it have plenty of space.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Please check if the System account have Full Control permissions for the system volume information folder and for all its sub folders, if not, please grant the System account Full Control permissions to see the result.

    how are you launching compiz? try it through fusion-icon, it makes it much more easier. Try it under xfce/openbox whatever else you have, a month ago I couldn't start fusion under gnome, but with another card.
    I suppose you aren't using kms.
    I have those packages, and compiz is running fine with my hd 4850, but I'm using it as a standalone window manager. I tried it with xfce too, and it was fine.

  • Replacing a failed hard drive on a mid-2007 white macbook

    Replacing a SECOND failed hard drive on a mid-2007 white macbook (Intel core duo 2.16GHz), this time on my own
    Need to purchase a serial ATA drive, but I keep reading that trying to format and/or partition the drive for use with the original Tiger install disk is unsuccessful and that I would have to update to a newer OS before I can do that.
    I have Leopard as the current OS, and that is in my backup files from Time Machine, but I do not have a disk with Leopard.
    Wondering the best course of action and/or if someone had success wit ha particular Serial ATA using the Tiger disks
    Thanks!

    All Intel Macs have always use SATA drives, so all Intel versions of OS X support them including Tiger. I don't know what you've been reading. However, since you have Leopard I don't see what the problem would be because you don't need to install Tiger unless your Leopard disk is strictly an updater disc.
    How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
    Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
    Step Three: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
    Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • Temporary error "A Crystal Reports job failed because a free license ..."

    Hi all,
    We coded with VS 2003 a .NET 1.1 application which using the Crystal Report 9 Redistribution package .NET ready to display reports from measured data from our device. The data is stored in a SQL Server 2000 MSDE. Crystal Report has his own DB connection to the SQL server to read the data to display the report.
    Our application runs well on approx. 100 distributed installations. But on six customers installation we get this error. Actual on two customers PCs using the same DB we get the error "A Crystal Reports job failed because a free license could not be obtained in the time allocated.". This error pop up every time, when the report is shown. Although the report get shown completely.
    I observed in the 'Windows Event Viewer => "System" log after the above-mentioned error following entry "Crystal Report job was delayed 2 (sec)." once for every time when the user requested a report.
    I restored an empty DB on customers PC and the error don't pop up anymore.
    All CR .NET assemblies have the version 9.2.3300.0. I tested also the "CrystalReportNET_keycodefix.zip", but it doesn't help. I had checked for hours all the issues about this error message on the internet. I tested the most fitting solutions, but not one fix the problem.
    I tested customers full DB on my Virtual Machine with same installation, but I don't get the error.
    Cheers
    Ronny

    Hi Ludek<br>
    <br>
    Thanks for your answer. I checked all the things you asked me to do on both system.<br>
    <br>
    Here are the results from my investigations:<br>
    <br>
    <b>1) The keycode.dll was not on the not working PC.</b><br>
    I copied it to the root of C: as on the working PC. I registered it with regsvr32.exe and tested the issue.<br>
    => The problem still exist.<br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <b>2) I compared the keycode on both system:</b><br>

    non working PC:<br>
    1 AAP50-GS00000-U7000RN 131203342 3979604006<br>
    The code is different in comparison to the working PC, because I carried out the 'CrystalReportNET_keycodefix.zip'. Before this I made an export of the above registry key. Afterwards I wasn't able to merge this export (backup) again with the registry. I assume due to the included carriage returns in the keycode.<br>
    <br>
    working PC<br>
    1 XXXXX <br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <b>3) I used the Process Monitor and got following error during the error sequence:</b><br>
    <br>
    I list only some key entries from the hundreds of error entries. Please inform me, how I can provide you the full logger files.<br>
    <br>
    non working PC:<br>

    But I observed beside the results: No more entries, Name not found, Fast IO Disallowed, Buffer overflow (RegQueryKey) and Range not locked (UnlockFileSingle of printer driver) no other errors.<br>

    <b>4) Service Packs</b><br>
    We could only compare the file size of the Merge Module we used with the one you provided me in the above link.<br>
    <br>
    <table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0>
    <tr>
    <td>file name</td>

    <td>10'701'824 Byte</td>
    <td>10'905'088 Byte</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    <br>
    But I tried to install SP7 on my PC and on customers PC, but I got following error after I accepted the license agreement in the setup.exe: titlebar of window 'Information', Msg: 'Failed to create Backup folder -110' and just a button 'OK'. I got into an infinit loop and I could only end the process: 'IKernel.exe'.<br>
    Remark: I get the same error with SP5 and SP6.<br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <b>5) Modules - comparison of DLL's</b><br>
    <br>
    I cross checked all the DLL in Modules, which begin with CR and some other, because there were over 100 DLL's.<br>

    I just received instructions from the TMG software company to uninstall and install the PDF driver they use. This fixed the problem. Apparently upgrading to v7.01 damages the driver but reinstalling it corrects the problem.
    Thanks for the advice.

    Hello vma.
    I happened to find the solution on 11.1.1.3. With xdo-server.jar, you can use DataProcessor class.
    For details and sample source code:
    http://blog-koichiro.blogspot.com/2011/11/bi-publisher-java-apigenerate-pdf-with.html
    * Not sure if it works on 11.1.1.5 though, I hope this gonna help you.

  • Failing hard drive or ??? of FOUR new laptop?

    FOUR brand-new Toshiba Satellite C50 laptops - Windows 7
    Steps taken:
     Setup
     Uninstall Norton Security Essentials trial
     Install, update, and scan with Microsoft Security Essentials
     Uninstall Norton Backup trial and Norton Anti-Theft
     Download, install and setup Internet Explorer 11
     Google Toolbar
     Windows updates: 70
     Burn 5 recovery DVDs Verbatim DVD-R
    Check Windows logs
     On 3 of the 4 computers an average of 10 warnings for EACH OF most DVD burned: “an error was detected on device \device\cdrom0 during a paging operation”; Event ID 51, Source CDROM
     CHKDSK finds on all of them about 80,000 files and
                        over 200 unused index entries from index $SII
                        over 200 unused index entries from index $SDH
    Memory Diagnostics Tool: no error detected
    My search on the Web gives conflicting responses.
    Should I be concerned about failing hard drive on all four brand-new computers?
    Or is there another issue?
    Thank you.

    please provide the full model number of your computer(s).  it is printed on the bottom.
    I'd run chkdsk on them again until I received no errors.  or return them for exchange/refund.

  • DFSR Replication Event ID 1202 The DFS Replication service failed to contact domain controller Additional Information: Error: 160 (One or more arguments are not correct.)

    Hi,
    hummmm...
    The client had 1 Server with AD and All Apps, IIS, Terminal Servers (30 device Cal), File Server, SQL2008R2 on it
    Task: Install new AD server promote it to DC,  bring in 2nd server, Replicate the File Server (DFSR) on these 2 servers, and demote it to standard server.
    1) Old AD with name "Server" with OS-2008R2 SP1 and is a DC.
    2) Brought in a new server "PrimaryAD", Installed 2008R2, done DC Promo, and added it as Additional Domain controller
    3) Transferred roles from old server "Server" to "PrimaryAD"
    4) Brought in a new File Server replicating server "Backup-Server"
    5) Copied all the data from Server to Backup-server as DFS initial file sync with robocopy
    6) here the problem started, after the copy finished, next morning the "Server" server crashed.....
    7) thank god the data was backed up on Backup-server. but we didnt get the time to Demote the server "Server" and remove AD from it.
    8) Since AD was replicated so "PrimaryAD" was are DC, brought 2nd Server "SecondaryDC" as additional domain controller.
    9) we cleaned up the metadata and used ASIEDIT to clean the remaining stuff.
    10) the "Server" server was formatted and renamed as "Primary-Server" and OS2008R2 SP1 was installed with rest of required apps
    11) so now the PrimaryAD the DC, SecondaryAD the Additional Domain controller, Primary-Server the mail server and File server, the Backup-server, the replicated server.
    Now configured DFS Replication from Primary-Server to Backup-server and receive following Event ID 1202
    If i Configure DFS Replication as follows
    PrimaryAD <<>> SecondaryAD -= Works... no errors...
    PrimaryAD <<>> Backup-Server = Creates but Dosent works Event ID 5012, error The DFS Replication service failed to communicate with partner BACKUP-SERVER, Additional Information: Error: 9026 (The connection is invalid)
    PrimaryAD <<>> Primary-Server = Dosent creates replication job just hangs,
    on primaryad continious Eveni ID 10009, DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer "SERVER" using any of the configured protocols
    ......something on PrimaryAD is still trying to connect to old corrupt AD server "Server"
    No errors with AD replication, SYSVOL & Netlogon shares also working fine and accessible.
    DFS Diagnose report says
    DNS name: backup-server.mydomain.com
    Domain name: mydomain.COM
    Reference domain controller: --           (HERE there is NO DOMAIN CONTROLLER mentioned)
    IP address: 192.168.1.248,192.168.1.251,::1
    Site: Default-First-Site-Name
    Forgot to mention, gave full rights with ADSIEDIT to DFSR-LocalSettings  for all server to Administrator and read permissions to "Authenticated Users"
    DFSRDIAG POLLAD throws following error
    c:\Dfsrdiag pollad /verbose
    [INFO] Computer Name: BACKUP-SERVER
    [INFO] Computer DNS: Backup-Server.mydomain.COM
    [INFO] Domain Name: mydomain
    [INFO] Domain DNS: mydomain.COM
    [INFO] Site Name: Default-First-Site-Name
    [INFO] Connected to WMI services on computer: Backup-Server.mydomain.COM

    [ERROR] PollDsNow method executed unsuccessfully. ReturnValue: 12 (0xc)
    [ERROR] Failed to execute PollAD command Err: -2147217407 (0x80041001)
    Can anyone point me to any direction which can lead to resolution of this ERROR and make DFS_R work..
    Thanks
    bikram

    Hi,
    It seems that DCPROMO did its work without complaints, still the DFSR references remained in AD. You could refer to the article below to clean up the DFS Replication object.

    In additional, please refer to the following thread to troubleshoot the issue:

  • What are the symptoms of a failing fusion drive?

    My 2012 iMac with a 3 TB fusion drive is suddenly behaving erratically.  What are the symptoms of a failing fusion drive?
    I'm experiencing random freeze, sluggish performance, and long boot ups with an occasional universal "NO" icon at boot.
    I have AppleCare for this unit that expires next December.  Should I bring it in?  These problems happened right after a hard crash that came out of the blue.  I can get the machine to work, but it seems if I do anything "heavy duty," it freezes and reboots.
    I did a "verify disk" on this drive in the disk utility and it said something like "fusion drive is missing one disk," then it rebooted spontaneously.  I did another verify, and the second time it passed.
    Mac (27-inch, Late 2012)
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
    OSX 10.10.1

    I ran EtreCheck again, and got this result:  The error seems to be gone?

  • Report printing failed with "Servlet error: An exception occurred. "

    Hi,
    I use Apex 3.1 in Oracle Express edition develop few applications. In one of the application, when I enable report printing in stardard reports and try to print to PDF/Excel, the servlet error occur.
    I had configured FOP in my server and I can download PDF in "interative report", but for stardard report, the report printing failed.
    I can successfully print the reports in my others applications. Anyone know what could be the reason which cause an application failed to print the report.
    Thanks
    Vincent

    Does your application name have special characters? I heard that the app name has to be just letters and numbers for this to work...actually testing right now.

  • Cisco ISE 1.1.1.268 Giving error (Report Generation failed. Cause: Null)

    I have this issue and I would be very thankful if someone has the answer for this. When I am trying to access Operation > Report > Catalog > Posture > Posture Detail Assessment & clicking on any posture session detail icon. I am getting following attached errors.
    1.     Report Generation failed. Cause: Null
    2.     Cannot execute the statement.
    Does anyone knows how to get rid of this error & to get access of posture detail.
    Thanks

    The error message means that Active Directory server Reject the authentication attempt
    as for some reasons the user account got locked.I guess, You should ask your AD Team to check in the AD
    Event Logs why did the user account got locked.
    Under Even Viewers, You can find it out
