DHCP Conflict between ZfD 4 Agent and Novell Client

I am having problems with the use of Novell Client versions that support
DHCP settings tab (Tree, Context, Server).
This is in this board because my problem is only reproduced when ZENworks
for Destkops 4 (IR5 and IR7) Workstation Management component is installed.
THe problem is this:
Every now and then, logging in with the novell client displays 886f errors
in the login results window, and other strange communication errors.
If I release and renew the IP, it works fine after that.
If I reboot, there is a chance I get the same problem.
This absolutely does not happen when I have the two options for DHCP
settings in the Novell Client unchecked (Server->Binary Data).
Now, is ZfD Workstation Manager getting the Preferred Server IP from DHCP
as well during system startup? Is this clear? Happens on both Windows
2000 and Windows XP.
I have no access to the router serving DHCP so I don't know the details on
that end.

There was (is?) a conflict that is supposed to be solved,
but I'm not 100% convinced that is true. Since I always
use Client32 I remove novdhcp.dll in my ZfDAgent transform,
even now with ZDM7 because I've seen the "semaphore" error
there too if I don't.

  • Login intermittently slow with ZCM agent AND Novell client

    We continue to struggle with intermittently slow logins in our environment. In testing, we noticed that logins are very fast (10-20 seconds) when only the Novell Client is installed, and very fast (~10 seconds) when only the ZCM agent is installed. However, when they are both installed, logins slow down, sometimes to 1.5 minutes or longer.
    We have checked DNS and rDNS, and they are both configured properly. SLP is working properly as demonstrated by the fast logins when only the client is installed. We use LDAP for user lookup, and it also works very fast to resolve user names (~ 1 second).
    We are using ZCM 10.3.1, and the client is fully patched as well (both Novell Client 2 and 4.91)
    Are there any specific settings (for the ZCM agent or the client itself) that might address this issue?

    My apologies, I told you to remove the wrong thing.
    I should have said NMAS instead of CASA.
    I am just so used to saying CASA when talking about ZCM.
    In regards to NMAS, you could simply rename "NWSSO.DLL" as a test.
    If NMAS is installed which is tested by the existence of this DLL, then
    a certain NMAS call is always made, which in some cases can take a long
    time.

    Novell does not officially monitor these forums.
    Suggestions/Opinions/Statements made by me are solely my own.

  • Difference between local agent and standalone agent

    Hi all,
    Can you please tell me the difference between local agent and standalone agent?
    I am getting a bit confused about this.
    Regards,
    Sourav

    Local agent will be running under the context of the main ODI session i.e. it is linked to an open session of the designer, operator etc. Standalone ODI agents run in their own JVM process and could be installed on any server and do not require an open instance of the ODI client GUI to run scenarios

  • How can i troubleshoot a "software conflict between a device and something in my original user account"

    hi
    my canon video camera (HV20) wasnt being recognised by iMovie (error message...in system report was "Unable to list FireWire devices".)
    in researching a solution i came across some firewire advice in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1151#trouble which suggests there may be a "software conflict between the device and something in your original user account."
    i changed to another account on my iMac and my camera connected immediately.
    is anybody able to explain how i go about fixing this "software conflict".
    many thanks
    Carlo

    With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
    The Outbox.mbox represents "Out" in the mailboxes drawer and is shared by all accounts.
    Delete the Outbox.mbox and empty the Trash.
    Launch Mail and a new Outbox.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the Mailboxes folder and this should resolve the problem.

  • Conflict Between Bluetooth Mouse and WIFI?

    I Bought the new MBPR X72 and a Iogitech Bluetooth Mouse.When i download something by Wifi,My mouse can't work well.I search the answer on Google,some people said that there is a conflict between Bluetooth mouse and Wifi.Because they are both use the 2.4G HZ.So anyone can help me ??

    If you are on your home network, you could set the router and MBPr to use only the 5 GHz band if you are using the n-protocol WiFi.  That would mean logging intothe router and changing band usage settings.  The MBPr would follow what it sees as the wireless signal.

  • Version conflicts between host labview and RT engine

    there is problem that i cannt switch target to feild point. It said that "version conflicts between host labview and RT engine" . But my labview is version 7.0 and the real time module is version 7.0 too. Anyone can give me hand? Thanks

    Depending on your version of MAX, you should be able to change the version on the FP (in remote systems). If you can't do it in 3.0, try upgrading to 3.1 (you will have to search for it on the site). If that doesn't work, you can try resetting to factory default and then see if you can do this.
    Another tip, which for some reason seems to help, is updating the OS\Run-Time Engine when windows is in safe mode.
    Try these and see if they help.
    BTW, as a tip for next time, you're more likely to get a good answer for something like this if you post in the FieldPoint board.
    Try to take over the world!

  • Difference between system copy and Remote Client copy?

    Hi,
    Can any body suggest me , What are the major difference between System copy and Remote Client Copy.
    As per my knowledge , Both are different
    1.In system copy  entire data recovered mean copy from Source to target
    2.In Remote client copy All  Client data can't me import if you choose SAP_ALL profile also
          I hope Transaction data and user data can't copied
    Anybody share this Question and Give me some idea about this
    If anybody  give brief explanation that is very gratefull.
    regards,
    Balaram

    Hi,
    System copy will replicate all database from source to target system.
    In remote copy only client in which you are performing the copy will get refresh. Also, remote client copy will be done between systems on same patch level. with SAP_ALL profile you can bring all data in target system including your transactional data.
    Thanks

  • Network bandwidth requirement between MDM server and MDM Clients

    The MDM Sizing document for 5.5 states that  'a network connection between MDM Servers and MDM clients should be at least 100 Mbps'. Is this true? This would preclude MDM being offered as a hosted service. I'm interested in MDM Catalogue for SRM, so the catalogue content managers would need the import and data manager clients.

    One factor I noticed, in our project...
    I would recommend a 4 GB RAM for someone who is working with Import Manager.
    As far as the Network connection goes, I am not sure what the requirements are.
    We have faced several issues when the end user's laptop are less than 2 GB.
    If someone is working with Image Manager, then I would recommend 4GB.
    For bulk imports, I would use Import Server.

  • Connection between SMD Agent and SMD server via SAProuter

    In our scenario, we have to setup the connection between SMD agent and SMD server(solution manager server) via saprouter. But during the installation of SMD agent, we can only specify the hostname of the managing system, we have no place to add saprouter string(/H/..../H/). I I am not sure if we could connect the agent and server via saprouter, if so how to do it?
    Hope someone can give us your precious advices on this issue.
    Karl

    Perfect; and thanks for your response. I found this help page for developers to implement P4 support over SAP router: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/48/2992d7ad8758d7e10000000a421937/content.htm
    But in the SM Diagnostics Setup options I can set up only a direct HTTP adresses and have no options to set up connections over a sap router to P4 ports directly. I can at the moment only solve my problems with NAT or firewall rules.
    And also the diagnostic agent setup has no options to config a proxy or sap router. I found yesterday a blog on sdn side with screenshots of the setup with all available connection opetions to SLD... sry I can not post this link today.
    This is an official statment of SAP from the current version of SMD guide; it is also possible but why not from the beginning???:
    In some network conficurations, the Diagnostics agent has to connect to the Managing system though a SAP router.
    This feature will be fully supported in Solution Manager 7 Ehp2 (7.02).
    In order to enable this feature in Ehp1, please contact the Diagnostics Agent support team to get information on how to
    setup the agent and on which patch level you can perform the installation.
    This thread were a long time not answared; proxy and routing connections are mostly stepmotherly handled by SAP; this is also a problem by set up of automatic RFC generations in SMSY; why there are in the setup assitents no options to set up the router string.
    I have absolutly no comprehension for this in year 2011. All this technics are good known and long time tested.
    In this case the f**k has provoked an answare to this thread and this is what I expected; but sorry for my style You are right I could also writh why the heck

  • Zfd7-agent and nw-client 3.40 / win98

    I'm using zfd7 agent on win98 machines with nw-client 3.40 Update B .
    After installing zfd7 agent everything worked fine. But after some time the
    users see the zfd7-agent console to log in instead of the nw-client console
    if they start the win98 machine. This happens with some win98-workstations
    but not with all.
    We don't use xtier server elements.
    What must I do to fix this problem ?
    The win98 workstations should start with nw-client login-console and there
    should be no authentification to xtier by the zfd-agent console.
    Cheers,
    k.

  • Bluetooth simulation between J2SE server and J2ME client

    hi there,
    I have a working bluetooth client/server application (using BlueCove), with the server on a PC (the PC has bluetooth hardware) and the client on a mobile telephone.
    I wish to move the application to a bluetooth simulated environment, however.
    To simulate bluetooth between 2 mobiles, I could open 2 instances of the WTK simulator and the mobiles will find each other -- but this doesn't meet my needs. I wish to simulate the bluetooth environment between a J2SE server and a J2ME client.
    Can I do this using the wireless toolkit? Does anyone have other ideas?
    thanks,
    Manoj

    OK - I have the solution.
    My PC (server) code used BlueCove to talk to the bluetooth stack. The trick is to use Sun's own KVM packages. This creates a virtual bluetooth device on your machine, shared by the WTK emulator.
    Here's the server code:
    package com.encube;
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import javax.microedition.io.Connector;
    import javax.microedition.io.StreamConnection;
    import javax.microedition.io.StreamConnectionNotifier;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JList;
    import javax.swing.JScrollPane;
    import javax.swing.JTextArea;
    import com.sun.kvem.bluetooth.BluetoothStateException;
    import com.sun.kvem.bluetooth.DiscoveryAgent;
    import com.sun.kvem.bluetooth.LocalDevice;
    public class Server {
         public static final String UUID_STRING = "A781FDBA229B486A8C21CEBD00000000";
         public static final String SERVICE_NAME = "BTCHATSVR";
         private StreamConnectionNotifier server;
         JFrame jframe;
         JTextArea textArea;
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              Server svr = new Server();
              svr.doWork();
         public void doWork() {
              this.jframe = new JFrame("BT Server");
              this.jframe.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
              this.textArea = new JTextArea(6, 20);
              JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane(this.textArea);
              this.jframe.add(jsp, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              this.jframe.pack();
              this.jframe.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
              this.jframe.setVisible(true);
              startServer();
         public void logMessage(String message) {
              this.textArea.setText(this.textArea.getText() + message + "\n");
              this.textArea.setCaretPosition(this.textArea.getText().length());
         public void startServer() {
              LocalDevice local;
              try {
                   local = LocalDevice.getLocalDevice();
Discoverable(DiscoveryAgent.GIAC);
                   this.logMessage("max of "
                             + LocalDevice
                                       .getProperty("bluetooth.connected.devices.max")
                             + " connection(s) supported");
                   String url = "btspp://localhost:" + UUID_STRING + ";name="
                             + SERVICE_NAME;
                   server = (StreamConnectionNotifier) Connector.open(url);
                   this.logMessage("waiting for connection...");
                   StreamConnection conn = server.acceptAndOpen();
                   this.logMessage("connection opened");
                   InputStream is = conn.openInputStream();
                   byte buffer[] = new byte[1000];
                   while (true) {
                        int numChars = is.read(buffer);
                        String s = new String(buffer);
                        logMessage("received from mobile phone: " + s.substring(0, numChars));
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   this.logMessage(e.getMessage());
    }You need to include the location of WTK as the kvem.home define. If its installed in c:\wtk22 (the default), start the server with the parameter -Dkvem.home="c:\wtk22". You also need to include these 3 libraries:
    c:\wtk22\wtklib\gcf-op.jar
    c:\wtk22\wtklib\kenv.zip
    c:\wtk22\wtklib\kvem.jar
    That's it for the server. My code of the sample client (the mobile phone, running in the WTK emulator) is messy (sorry about that -- still cleaning it up)!

    ...and that's it. Start the server, then the client (all on the same machine) and you've simulated bluetooth between the 2.
    To get the server working with a real mobile, you'll need to use the BlueCove library instead of the 3 WTK jars (and can remove the kvem.home directive as well). The rest of the code should remain the same (haven't quite tested that yet!).

  • GW 2014 and Novell Client

    Hi,
    since we upgraded to GroupWise 2014 SP1 HP1 some (but not all) of our users
    (still GW 2012 Clients) complain that they have to authenticate twice,
    Novell Client and GroupWise.. is there a change because of the decoupling of
    GW and eDirectory? Something to be aware of? I did not find anything in the
    docu...
    Thanks,
    Mirko

    Ah, ok, I see that now. Then possibly it was the other options that my
    collegues sometimes saw - I think I didn't ask precisely...

    What is the best way to check this? If "Sychronize" in Admin Console updates
    "Contact information" correctly the association should be all right,
    shouldn't it? Additionaly I check LDAP DN in "Diagnostics". I did not see
    any problems there.
    I seems that only users with clients before 12.0.3 HP1 are affected; as soon
    as users upgrade to 12.0.3 HP1 or 14.0.1 HP1 login works as before.
    Thanks,

  • Conflict between iTunes Match and Windows 8.1

    I have been running iTunes on my fully updated Windows 8.1 PC for some time, without any particular issues. A few days ago, I activated iTunes match. It worked just fine, in the perspective of my iPhone and iPad. However, my PC stopped being responsive: Long time-outs on just about anything, and dialog windows refusing to appear (one of them being the McAfee console ....). A virus search using Microsoft's emergency services showed nothing.
    The moment I de-activated iTunes match, everyhing reverted to normal.
    My conclusion is, there is a major conflict between whatever the iTunes match service does, and the Windows 8.1 operating system.
    Any idea what this is all about, and if there is anything I can do about it (except avoiding using the match functionality)?
    I have the latest update of iTunes for PC.

    Hi lars1950,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    It sounds like you're seeing issues with Windows responding slowly since enabling iTunes Match. The article below may resolve the issue for you, it describes possible conflicts with Layered Service Providers and how to prevent them.

  • Conflict between Logic Pro and external device error in Logic Pro X./cpu problems

    hi Logic users,
    using a MacBookPro 15 inch Retina, 2,7 GHz intel Core i7, 16 GB Ram, OSX 10,8,5, Logic X 10.0.4.
    i am wondering if you can help me out with the following problem i cant solve:
    when starting logic x with a not too big arrangement, lets say using one third to half of cpu, i open u-he plugin Diva and the cpu is going up on full range and the following error appears: "sample-rate 39299 (number always changes) reconized. Check conflict between logic pro x and external device"
    as external device im running a VirusTi and as audio-device Apogge Duet. when dis-connecting both devices, i have the same problem.
    putting the sample buffer up to the highest rate, doesnt change anything.
    same arrangements on friends computers dont show that problem, so it has to be something wrong in my set up.
    anybody has an idea?
    would be much appreciated for your help,
    thanx-

    Have you used Diva's preset Accuracy system to reduce CPU load?
    accuracy
    Click on the Main button at the bottom of the window. To the right of the Master section are two selectors called Accuracy and OfflineAcc. In the current version of Diva these are global parameters i.e. they remain fixed across all presets, per loaded instance:
    draft........CPU-friendly, but FM will sound rough and resonance is primitive i.e. NOT zero delay! fast......... Fine for older computers and/or when you need more polyphony in acceptable quality great...... The best compromise between quality and polyphony on high-power computers divine..... Top-quality zero delay feedback filters... but can your computer can handle it?
    OfflineAcc only has two options – same or best (i.e. divine in the current version).
    Some host applications may have problems rendering to audio at the selected accuracy, but the
    better ones include an “inform plug-ins of offline rendering status” or similar.
    I typically work in draft mode and then switch to Devine or best when freezing the track or bouncing the entire project...

  • Is there a conflict between Reader XI and Acrobat being used on the same computer?

    I downloaded the new Abode Reader XI. The computer in question has, also, Adobe Acrobat 7. Is there a conflict between them if used on the same computer? I can not open any PDFs and now the saved PDFs I had on the computer will not open and the icon shown on the desktop is gone. Please advise as I scan documents to this computer all the time and the person who needs to see them can not.

    I have Acrobat 8.1.6 and Reader XI on Win XP. Do these conflict? Should I get rid of the newer Reader?
    I'm having problems printing to the PDF print driver, locks up system, shows printer offline in spooler. I doubt problem is with driver itself because I can print a Test Page from it ok. But printing to Adobe PDF from Word & other apps locks up & never completes.
    There's an Exclamation Point next to Acrotray in Explorer. (see image)  What does this mean??
    Have tried Repair install of Acrobat twice.
