DHCP Leased Addresses show an IP in the name field.

We have an issue that recently showed up on our DHCP server. We've noticed that anything with the 3rd octect above 128 does not hand out a DHCP address properly to the device. For example a scope for 172.17.120.x leases addresses without
issue, but when we go to a scope of 172.17.128.x the below image is what we get and the devices don't actually get an address assigned. We've restarted DHCP services, the server itself, reconciled the scope and also tried re-creating the scope with no luck
so far. We can see the request go to the server but the server never sends anything back to the device. There is no A/V on the server nor is Windows Firewall turned on. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Could you enable the DHCP audit logging? Is there anything unusual logged in the log or event viewer?
To enable DHCP server logging
Open the DHCP Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
In the console tree, click the DHCP server you want to configure.
Click Ipv4.
On the Action menu, click Properties.
On the General tab, select
Enable DHCP audit logging, and then click
OK.
Note: DHCP audit logs are located by default at %windir%\System32\Dhcp.
Is there any MAC filters in your DHCP server?
Have you deployed NAP in your network? Maybe some policies prevent the client from obtaining IP address.
Have you tried to use another client which is working properly in other scope? Maybe that’s a client problem.
If the result of all these checks seems right. We recommend you to use the Process Monitor for further troubleshooting.

Is it possible to view ".mp3" files in Mavericks "Tags" windows by file name (rather than the info in the "name" field of it's ID3 tag)?

Short version:
When viewing ".mp3" files in a "Tags" window, the information in the "name" column next to the file defaults to the information in the "song" field in the file's ID3 tag.
Is it possible to change have the "name" column display the actual FILE NAME instead?
I did some research and found nothing.
Long version
Let's say I have a ".mp3" file named "Todd Rundgren - Hello It's Me.mp3"
When I open the folder this ".mp3" is in and find the file, the "name" column will read "Todd Rundgren - Hello It's Me.mp3" (of course)
Now, I tag the file "jams"
Now I go to my "jams" tag view everything tagged "jams", the "name" column in that window DOES NOT say
"Todd Rundgren - Hello It's Me.mp3" , but instead just "Hello It's Me"
The finder seems to be pulling this information from the "name" field of the ".mp3" ID3 tag metadata (aka, the information that would be written in the "name" column when viewing the file in iTunes.)
Ok, that's fine Mavericks, but I want to see the ACTUAL FILE NAME of my ".mp3", (which "tags" windows seems to do for most other things [documents, folders])
Q: Is it possible to display the filename of a ".mp3" file when viewing a "tag window?"
Tags are super useful, but this inconsistency makes it inefficient, distracting, and confusing to move freely between the window for a given "tag", and a normal "finder" window.

I think you have to avoid editing inside the tags list with the 'metadata names'. Instead right click an item, select 'Open enclosing folder'.
In 'real folders' you can enable the 'Title' in column via the 'Veiw Menu > show columns', that way you can see the file name & ID3/ EXIF titles.
'Fake folders' (smart searches & the recent tags list) don't feel finished yet IMO.

What is the checkbox for in the name field?

what does the checkbox in the name field do? i have audiobooks that i have already listened to and want them off my ipod (but still on the pc). there does not seem to be a way to have it not sync them like you can with a video already watched (ie: tv shows). when you uncheck the checkbox it just shows on the ipod with the checkbox unchecked as well.

In iPod preferences there is a checkbox option to not sync unchecked items. When used this option can be used for keeping tracks from syncing to iPod.
Another function of the checkbox in track name is an unchecked track will be skippind in iTunes when playing. It can still be played when selected individually though.

How to read the "Name" field from document library in workflow?

The task I'm trying to accomplish looks pertty simple: I need to read a value of the item's "Name" field inside the workflow. I try to do it using LookupSPListItem and GetDynamicValueProperties activities. I can get value of the "Title"
field, also I created custom field and can read it too.
But the "Name" field always comes empty.
I guess I need to use some tricky syntax or this field has some different "internal name"?
The workflow is designed in VS 2013.

Thank you. Looks correct, since when I enter this path (FileLeafRef) into GetDynamicValueProperties
and change Entity Type to list of documents it changes to Name
automatically.
But somehow it doesn't work too. (:
I also tried LinkFilenameNoMenu and LinkFilename
- same result.

Looks like FileLeafRef is not loaded by default by LookupSPListItem, so you have to pass this property name via
Properties collection. The bad news is that in this case other properties won't be loaded if you didn't add them to this collection.
Anyway, it works. :)

Can't add to portal favorites with "&" in the name field

Hi there
Interesting problem which has been identified this morning ... it appears that certain iviews cannot be added to the portal favorites, and upon closer inspection, it appears that those iviews all have the "&" character in the name field.
For example, we have an iview with the name of "SAA013 Summary of Sales & Gross Margin vs Approved Plan". As you can see, its quite long, so anything to save some space.
If I remove the & and replace with "and", then I can add to portal favorites.
Has anyone else come across this and found an alternate solution? I could probably get away with convincing the client to allow "and" to be inserted, but then there's quite a few iviews that will have to be renamed, which is a rather tedious task.

Enter in the name, exactly as in the email Apple sent you, and the key, and then press the Tab key. Do not press the Enter/Return key.

Does anyone else have to renew their DHCP Lease every 30 seconds when using the internet?

Everytime I want to use the internet for surfing the web or browsing iTunes etc I have to go into System Preferences and navigate through to a button that says "Renew DHCP Lease". If watching catch-up TV online I have to click this button every 30 seconds or so because the programme freezes, and if I'm surfing the web or browsing iTunes I have to click it every time I want to update the content of the page. Does anybody know what my problem might be?

This Fix has got things working for me.
I have reprinted this response from another thread I have made (Repost) A number of people were asking me about my fix, so I have expanded my response to hopefully offer a little more clarity.
I was having this problem the other night after I finished doing a massive upgrade to our Home Network (New Router, Modem, Cabling, Etc)
I had to reset my DHCP lease every few minutes, in the end I found Mac Mini's IP Address kept setting itself to other items on the Network, I have some items connected on wired (ethernet) and some were connected on WiFi (Airport Extreme) after clicking the DHCP Lease Renew the Mac Mini would grab an IP address that it thought was available but then another item on my network would "check in" then we would have a clash, The Mac Mini was grabbing what it thought was an available IP address, the DHCP Renew button was not setting the Mac Mini's IP number far enough away to stop the clash.
I was watching the items on my Routers Attached devices screen, The Mac Mini would show up on the page with its new address (after hitting the DHCP Renewal button) then something else would check in with that exisiting IP Address, clash and the Mac Mini would need it's DHCP lease renewed again.
My Network consists of:
- Mac Mini (Wired)
- Acer Laptop (Wired)
- PS3 (1) (wired)
- Apple TV (wired)
- Airport Extreme (wired and looking ater WiFi duties throughout the house)
- PS3 (2) (WiFi)
- TV (WiFi)
- iPad (WiFi)
- Nexus 7 (WiFi)
- Printer (WiFi)
I'll be the first to admit my Networking knowledge is limited (and I'm learning more all the Time) but I simply went into the preferences panel and set the IP address manually.
1. I went into Preferences and selected Network
2. Set Configure IPV4 to: using DHCP with manual address
Now it helped I had my NetGear Routers "Attached devices" Page open here so I could see the address of everything else on my network (I went and switched everything on that was web connected so it would be logged in and running on the network) I looked at the last digit or 2 of every item on my network and then set my new IP address.
3. To ensure I wouldn't have any more clashes I set my new IP address far away from the the others* your only changing the last digit or 2 of the IP address, so in the case of my Mac Mini it went from
xxx.xxx.02 to xxx.xxx.0.52 (note the x's are normally your IP address numbers)
*I originally set it to xxx.xxx.09 but I since found the TV had that IP address (The one thing I forgot to check the previous night) so I this is when I decided to set it far away from the rest of the bunch by setting it to .52 (No specific reason for 52, that was just the 1st number to pop into my head)
Now that was over a week ago and since then I have had no more issues on my Network, so far everything is running smooth and fast. (It has now been over 3 weeks since I posted this, and everything is still working perfectly, I suggested this solution to 2 friends having the same issue and it also fixed there problems as well)
I'm not saying this is the be all and end all to the problem, there must be a more permanent solution out there, but this is working for me so far.

Need to show leading zeros in the number field when printed from RDF

We cannot use a format mask to achieve the same as the length of the field is not fixed.

it can range between 2 to 10 or more...
as told by you if we put the format as to_char(.68,'90.99') it shall give 0.68 but what for numbers like0.678,0.4567,0.765433 it will display only 2 digits after the decimal...
The requirement is to dispaly the number as it is ,only the zeroes before the decimal should stay intact..

If it's the iCloud email address that is incorrect, you cannot change it. If it's a non iCloud address, you can change it at My Apple ID

CRSE is an OEM Product and for use with a custom application they have written. Unfortunately we don't their reports or how they are connecting, it would appear they were originally built off a SQL and then set to a Dataset in the app or they could be adding the data source at runtime. Lots of variations and without access to the source code to see what they are doing not much we can help you with.
You need to contact the OEM Partner for help in resolving this and find out what you can and need to do to update your SP and work with their canned reports,

Why does my email address show up as my contact name to people in iMessage?

Everyone says I show up as an email address. Is anyone else havin this problem or know how to fix it?

I did a reset due to poor battery life and have been informed that my email address instead of phone number is showing up.,,,,,,,,am on iphone 4s.
I have tried the above fix and it did not work. Messages show receive at 2 Addresses one of which is phone number and the other is email address. The phone number is grayed out and the address is highlighted. It does not provide me with the option to change it from email to phone.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Right now I am very frustrated. Had no issues with phone until upgrade. Now battery does not last a full day and even with reset am now having battery issues plus this one.

The email address of the addressee is suddenly showing up in the email body every time an address is added/entered in the to: field.

*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Incorrect DHCP IP Addresses

Suddenly, I am having trouble getting DHCP to work with my network. When I have Using DHCP selected in the System Preferences, the addresses that it receives are incorrect. This happens to all of the computers on my network (wired and wireless). They receive an IP Address of 10.0.1.xx and a router address of 10.0.1.1 which will not allow any connections. Instead they should be receiving an IP Address of 192.168.2.xx, and a router address of 192.168.2.1. If I use Manual configuration, I can successfully connect.
Can anyone point me in a direction to find out why, and how to fix this problem?
Here is what I have connected to my Belkin 4 port Router and Netgear 4 port switch:
1. Wired
a. One G5 running OS 10.4.9
b. One G3 graphite iMac running OS 10.4.9
c. One G3 original iMac running OS 10.3.9
d. One G3 Blue and White running OS 10.3.9
e. One HP running Windows XP
f. One DSL modem.
2. Wireless
a. One Pismo G3 Powerbook running OS 10.4.9
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot:
a. Power cycled all equipment (many times since this has been going on for several months).
b. Replaced the router with a new one (I thought that maybe the router was the problem).
c. Installed the latest updates to all OS's.
d. Contacted Belkin Tech Help (they just told me that they never heard of such a problem).
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9) Dual 2 GHz PPC G5, 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM, HDD 150 GB

When a machine makes a DHCP request, it sends a packet from IP address 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 on port 68. I receives a packet to its new IP address from the server on port 67. If twp reposonses come back, there is a protocol to decide which one to take. What's happening to you is that you are expecting the belkin to be the one whose response is chosen. Instead an Apple machine is anwering, and its response chosen over the belkin, if it indeed answers. You can tell its an Apple machine from the IP addresses.
The way to troubleshoot this is to run /Applications/Utilities/Terminal on one of the Macs and enter the following:
on 1a-d:
$sudo tcpdump -ien0 -e -X 'port 67 or 68'
on 2a:
$sudo tcpdump -ien1 -e -X 'port 67 or 68'
on each, enter control-c to terminate. Next, renew the DHCP lease on a trouble machine on the network you're troubleshooting. You will see link level line showing you the MAC addresses of the machines in the DHCP dialog, as well as their IP addresses. From here you can determine which machines are responding.
The simple answer is to get the Apple one to stop responding, and the Belkin to. I suspect there are two responders, and the Apple is winning the negotiation. If you can't get it to stop, We'll have to look deeper.
