DI Job Server and Designer Losing Connectivity

I'm running the DI job server (11.7.3.0) and DI designer (11.7.3.0) on the same Windows 2003 server. At times when I start a DI job from designer after a while the job server stops updating the designer with load statistic. I've never run across this issue before. Job runs ok from the management console. Any ideas?

How do I find the service that's controlling my SQL server agent on the job server and find out the login it's using ? Is there a query for this ?

Go to SQL Server Configuration Manager and you will see the SQL Server Agent service there with all the information you need.

How does the codepage of the job server and the datastore work together?

In Data Integrator, a datastore can be used as a source or a target of an ETL transaction (called dataflows). The dataflow is executed by a single job server. During reading or loading, Data Integrator will "transcode" from the datastore codepage to the codepage of the job server. As you can imagine, you will need to be careful when selecting the codepage of the job server, as it will need to be able to represent all characters you are trying to read/load. In other words, the codepage of the job server MUST be a SUPERset of all codepages used in all datastores which that job server may encounter.If Great Big Company Inc. selected MS1252 (which supports many western languages including English) for the job server, Great Big Company Inc. would potentially lose characters coming in from the Korean customer database. That's why it is recommended that you choose UTF-8 for the job server when processing a mix of multi-byte / single-byte data. UTF-8 will be able to map to all of the characters used in both source databases.  

It is slightly difficult to post the code as it is a huge project. I think the issue is connected with the actual 3D control, as when I copy it and paste it into another blank vi, it shows the same behavior. I have tried to attach a vi where I copied the indicator from my program and put some dummy data in. I keep getting an error 'The contents of teh attachment doesn't match its file type' . I guess I need help attaching the vi.

I've also put a few of the property nodes into the vi to see what impact they have.
Basically, run the vi and look at the data. On my screen the points look a sort of muddy brown color. With the 'fast draw' option selected, when I click and drag on the graph, the labelling disappears and the points change color to reflect the values seen on the color pallete indicator. Changing the colors in the Scatter Color Ramp control has the expected effect of chaging the plot colors, but only in the fast draw case. I want the colors to be there all the time, but cannot find the magic trick to set the pallette for the points when not in 'fast draw' mode, i.e. clicked and held.

Report Server and ORA-03135 - Connection Lost

Hello,
We are running Oracle 10gR2 (AppServer, Report Server and Database) and we notice that in the error log of the database, we getting many error ora-03135-Connection Lost. After investigating a bit on this, i think i found the cause of those error. Error seem to be generated by the report server everytime it automatically shutdown an engine because engine was not use in the last 30 min. Is there a way to prevent the report server to cause this error in the DB log file ?? maybe it is only a setting to change.
And we don`t want to extend the timeout of the engine to prevent it to shutdown automatically because this will cause memory issue on the server if engine always stay up

Use death connection detection in the sqlnet.ora file. Usually setting SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME is used to catch firewall timeouts, but in your case you could use it to detect that the report engine was stopped. Set SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME to a slighty higher value than 30 minutes, say 35 minutes. Then each 35 minutes a probe packet is send to test if the connection is still alive. If not then the RDBMS ends the connection.

DI-Server and Secured DB Connections

When I use DI-API or DI-Server, it creates a connection to the database.
Can that connection be secured using KPI or Kerberos?

The connection to the DB is between DI Server and the DB, and then usually it
is local - in the same machine. The client got a session Id and uses this one
in the subsequent operations ...

Update window show "connecting to update server" and will not connect.

Software Update window shows: "Downloading Firefox" and under the blue barber line "Connecting to the Update Server".... this has been going on for several hours and it does not appear to be downloading the update. I have been trying for several weeks with the same problem.

I have already tried re-installing the newest version, and I still get the "update" alert, and the not-connecting.
At the moment, I just close the window and carry on, but it's a bit annoying.

ITunes 10.1.1 moving files to wrong location and then losing connection.

This morning I tried to play one of my albums and it told me it wasn't able to locate the files (on my external disk) so I located them manually and for some reason it has created a new iTunes folder in the root of my HDD (even though the iTunes prefs still pointed at the external disk) and moved the files in to that.
I deleted the album from the library and then imported the files from the new folder. It imported them fine and copied them to the exiting iTunes folder in the ext HDD but then immediately copied them back to the wrong iTunes folder. Then it told me it couldn't find them again!
I've now discovered 4 other albums that it's doing the same thing with and no matter what I do I can't get them to import, stay on the ext HDD and remain connected.
I've re-installed iTunes and restored my library file from before I upgraded to 10.1.1(4) but it's still doing the same thing.
Any ideas anyone?

Same here. Shut off Zumocast and that seemed to solve this VERY annoying and tricky problem. Let's hope that was really it. Thanks for the tip!

Web Sharing and Apache losing connection?

ok so i just did a fresh install of 10.4 on my server (PowerMac G4 - 350 Mhz) i have set up my web sharing with a few tweaks like turned mod_ssl and installed MySQL. Other than that it's a pretty basic config.
My problem is that i when i start or restart apache everything works and stays that way for hours as I am updating and testing. I go home at night and come back in the morning and i can not access any of my sites nor the local ip of the server (192.168.0.100) or 127.0.0.1
so i restart apache and its back up...
i do have a static IP so I know its not my IP Changing
any ideas on keeping apache alive?

What do the logs have to say about it?
There's nothing anyone here can tell you about why it's stopping - there are just too many posibilities. The server logs, though, might provide some clues.
Check specifically /var/log/httpd/error_log and /var/log/system.log

Thought I'd try the Belkin ADC to DCI converter. Anyone know if this will work?

The problem is that power supply is not cheap. They run around $125 used.

What is the diffrence between Adaptive Job server and Webi Job server?
In my BO server we didn't have Webi Job server but we are able to schedule the webi reports successfully.
Any Idea on this.

I believe the Adaptive Job Server is on a generic shell server that behave as a Webi Job Server when it processes webi reports, as a program job server when it processes program object etc.

In BO 4.0 SP 9 when a administrator tries to schedule a report via CMC there is no error
But when a user schedules a report and the destination is FTP location -> Use default settings he gets following error

There is only one Job Server and the destinations are enabled in it
There is no Job server for Crystal Reports Job Server
Do i need to create it and how.

Please check if you have proper rights to schedule to FTP. You can create a new job server, whenever you schedule it, there are multiple job servers, it will handle based on the load. But it is not mandatory, depends on the load.

Cannot conect to Job server after redirecting log files

Platform: Windows
Software: Data Services 3.0 (Data Integrator 12.0.0)
Issue: When redirecting the Log files to go to another drive on the windows Server, we are unable to reconnect to the Job Server with Designer.
We did the following to re-direct the Log files:
In the DSConfig.txt file on the machine where the jobserver runs, they will find a section similar to the following:

(As with any DSConfig.txt edits, I always tell customers to be very careful, to only follow instructions they receive from customer assurance, and to make backups of the prior file in case they need to revert.)
Note that there is a u201CWestu201D jobserver defined with the 1 suffix, and an u201CEastu201D jobserver defined with the 2 suffix. Both jobservers will by default log into %LINK_DIR%\log\ into a directory named after their jobserver name. If the customer wants to redirect the logs for the u201CWestu201D jobserver to a different path, add the following to this section:
AL_JobServerLogReDir1=D:\dierrorlogs\Log
Note the use of the suffix 1 u2013 it means that it will be a part of the settings for the u201CWestu201D jobserver. The u201CEastu201D jobserver will still log to %LINK_DIR%\log\EastJS while the u201CWestu201D jobserver will log to D:\dierrorlogs\Log.
All we did was add the one single line AL_JobServerLogReDir1="E:\Program Files\BusinessObjects\dierrorlogs\Log"
Can anyone give us some sort of suggestion or idea as to why we lost our connection to our Job Server with this change? We DID restart the service.

can you see the JobServer process in the task manager ? check the windows event log for any errors for the JobServe
since you modified the path, I don't think it will be generating any log file for Job server
what's the status for the job server in Desginer and Management console ?

Data Integrator Job Server - How to Enable

The Job Server associated connected with our Data Integrator in not enabled. We have stopped and started the job server and get no errors, but when we look at the Data Integrator Server Manager, the Enabled column says NO. Any suggestions as to how to get the Job Server Enabled?
>> Update: This turned out to be a license key problem. We had downloaded a license that was for a different version that the Job Server that was installed. We got a new license key and downloaded it and everything worked!

im sure you have License Authorization Code
go to this link
a) Go to http://webkey.businessobjects.com on the Internet.
b) Copy the Authorization Code and paste it into the License
c) Click the 'SUBMIT' button.
d) Save each license file in with a *.lic extension
im sure if you follow the instructions you will be able to install the software correctly
