DIablo II and MBP

Hey all, not sure where else to post this question. Hope it's appropriate to the board.
So, I had a 'universal' copy of Diablo II for my PC - just got my MBP in April - and installed it and downloaded the MacOSX patch from the Diablo II website. When I start up the game, the opening credits run fine but the login screen looks like a scrambled jigsaw puzzle. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? WoW worked fine when I installed it, so not sure what the deal is.
MACBOOKPRO 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Change the game graphics to Software, not OpenGL. That works for me on a MBP with 2gb ram.
Would sure like a way to run it in OpenGL.

  • Can I download FCPX on my imac and MBP using the same apple ID?

Hello,  I am just wondering how it works with mac store apps.    I use both my imac and MBP for my work.   Will I have to re buy FCPX for both, or can I use it on both with the same apple id?   This works with apps on my 2 iphones and ipad, but I was not sure about imac and MBP.
Thank for any info you can give

Don't mention it. Although I'm one of those dispised Americans. Worse yet, I come here for four or five months then leave. Then I tell all our American friends awful lies about Canadians.

  • Can I sync my iMac and MBP in word processing?

Is it possible to sync an iMac and MBP when doing word processing? If so, how can it be done?
I know there are programs that can sync iCal bewteen the two such as BusyMac. Is there one that do the same thing with a word processor?
    Thanks.

If you keep you documents in the same folder on both units it is possible. I usually just pick up the folder and drag to the one that has the older files. This way the folders remain updated.
You can also use Mobile Me, something I do not have to much knowledge on.

  • Apple tv and mbp

im on my mbp and want to watch a podcast on apple tv but when i use apple tv's remote it's not also controling apple tv but its also hooked up to my mbp... however thats a nifty feature but is ther a way i can turn it off from my mbp for now?

I am sure that I have done that correctly. Apple TV and MBP states that a remote has been paired, but still both work on both devices. Is it possible that both remotes have the same ID (by coincidence)?

  • Suitability of MBA and MBP for FCPX ...

    Hi there,
i am going to purchase either a 13" Macbook Air or Macbook Pro & plan to use FCPX on it.
the problem is I discovered the following:-
    a) the anount of RAM is so low as compared to my iMac whic has 32gb RAM.
    b) i always read that it is better to get a dedicated video RAM but most of the latest MBA and MBP only comes with on board video RAM.
    c) the HDD though is a flashed based but is so small, start from only 128gb. Could it be that Apple wants us to buy an external HDD  ?
    cheers & thanks

So in my case, better to have a fast processor or a bigger RAM ?
I have never seen a beachball using FCPX (see my specs: I'm on the very low end of hardware).
(I've seen crashes … it's not all pink here )
Aside 'no background rendering' … or manual initiated rendering (to see complex compos in real-time…) :
Imho, it's all about 'delivery': put each stream on its own 'platter' = no beach balling, no stutter
And with stream I don't mean the source(s), but what you see on screen:
in case, you do pic-in-pic, compounds, MultiCam, you see 2/several streams - then, I recommend 2/several drives …
    to over-exaggerate:
when you put the sources of a 4x camera MultiCam on 4 different drives ==> no stutter, no beach balling at all, even on antique, underpowered systems… ok, that's over-the-top, my several external, simple usb3 drives deliver each 2-3 fullHD streams flawless ...
best practice is it anyhow to separate Events from app/OS/cache…
I would suggest a min. of 16GB Ram.
The number-crunching (rendering) is mostly done on GPU, not CPU.
Last, silly comment: benchmark tests test benchmarks!
Means: FCPX + MacOS + Apple hardware sums up 'higher' than expected.
Don't be too focussed on GHz and stuff, no -user is interested in …

  • AX Test using PB G4,  MacBook and MBP - is it the AX or 802.11b?

I recently bought an Airport Express so I could stream iTunes to the main stereo. iTunes keeps cutting out. I'm using a NetGear MR314 802.11b - also tried a linksys 802.11b and same results.
At first I thought it might be the distance of the AX from the wifi router...so I now I have all 3 laptops and the AX within 5-7 feet of the wifi router and still iTunes cuts out.
    I'm completely baffled.
I confirmed AX has the latest FW v6.3. I tried turning interference robustness on and off.
There isn't much to change config wise on the AX or the Netgear.
I find it hard to believe that streaming iTunes over 802.11b is more than it can handle. No other traffic is occurring over the wireless during my test.
    Thoughts on additional testing?

    Additional testing...
From each laptop I'm pinging the router and www.google.com.
The G4 has a consistent response of 3-5ms (router) and 75-80ms (google) where the other two (MB and MBP) have responses all over the field. 4ms to 1000ms to router and 70-1800ms responses to google. So something is clearly different between the airport cards of the G4 and the MB/MBP and the way they interact with the Netgear.
So I would only assume the AX would have similar responses like the MB/MBP since it is probably the same type of airport technology and not the older type in the G4 (just speculation)
The above is not even streaming iTunes.
When I stream iTunes even the G4 response times go up - 90ms to the router (vs 3-5ms w/out iTunes streaming) and 138 ms to google (vs 75-80ms w/out iTunes streaming).
    So what conclusions to draw?
    1) Airport cards in the MB & MBP have an issue communicating with the Netgear yet the G4 doesn't
    So what about the AX?
If I'm directly connected (ethernet) to the Netgear my response times don't change and they are 1ms to the router and 67ms to google - so the Netgear itself isn't having issues...only the wifi between it and the laptops.

  • Cannot make call from MBP, although both iPhone and MBP share the same ID

Both my iPhone 6 Plus and MBP with Yosemite have the same Apple ID, iCloud and Face Time details - account  (and the same Wifi). Yet, when I try to dial from MBP contacts, I get this message, I don't understand why.

Find my friends is designed to locate DIFFERENT Apple ID's.  So if you want to use FMF for this purpose, you would need to create a different apple ID for one of your devices.
OR, you could use the Find My iPhone App.  Which will display ALL of your devices.

  • Sync problems between iPhone4 and MBP

I want to copy the Contacts from my iPhone to my MBP and overwrite what is on it, and Contacts not on my iPhone that are on my Mac, I want brought over.
    I have:
Two contact lists; on my iPhone4 5.0.1 and MBP 10.7.3
I am using Outlook for Mac 2011
Some contacts are identical on both devices, but my phone has the more current info of contacts, even ones that share the same name on the MBP
When I connect the iPhone via iTunes, the Contacts on both iPhone and MBP sync together, and here is where the problem begins.
The info from the MBP will go to the phone and create duplicates. And the next time I connect via iTunes, it will even create a triplicate on my iPhone! and on and on.
So I want to make the contact list on my iPhone go to my Mac, and whatever is on my Mac and not on my iPhone, to be brought over.
Does anyone know the steps to make it happend this way? I have searched the forums and not finding an answer. Thanks.

I'm not sure there is an easy solution to this but I'll at least give you an idea.  I don't think there is any way around having to identify which contacts on your mac are unique (not on the iphone); that's the hard part.  Then I would do the following:
I would work with Address Book as that can import and multi-VCF (vCards) than can be exported from the iPhone (more on that in a minute).  I assume if you can get the contacts correct in mac Address Book, importing them to Outlook would be a straightforward process (although I don't use Outlook 2011 for mac so I'm not sure)
As a precaution I would start by exporting your mac Address Book contacts for safekeeping.  This is done by opening Address Book, click on any contact, select all contacts (command-A or Edit>Select All), then File>Export>Export vCard, save on the desktop.
I would then delete all contacts except the ones unique to Address Book (i.e., not on the iPhone)
Next download the free app My Contacts Backup on your phone (paid version if you have > 500 contacts).  This will back up your iPhone contacts as an attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself and open it on your mac, double-click the attachment to import the contacts to Address Book.  Your Address Book contacts should now be the way you want them.  (Do not delete the email as you may need it later.)
Now replace the contacts on your iPhone with the contacts in your mac Address Book.  As you did before, open Address Book and click on any contact, select all (Command-A), File>Export>Export vCard, save on the desktop with a different filename that the last one.
Open My Contacts Backup on your phone, tap the Settings (gear) icon on the lower right.  In the screen that opens, scroll to the bottom and tap Remove All Contacts.  (Don't worry, you saved the original email so if anything goes wrong you can use it to re-import them as they are now.)
Open the new email you sent with your mac Address Book contacts, tap the attachment to import them to your iPhone.
You should now have identical contacts on both your iPhone and your mac Address Book, with a merged up to date list.
Not sure how you sync your mac Address Book to Outlook, but I assume that  can be done (even if you have to delete your Outlook contacts and import your Address Book ones as a replacement).  Hope this helps.

  • HT1555 Two remotes - Both still work with Apple TV and MBP despite pairing

I have a MBP (early 2011 13") and Apple TV. Therefore, I paired one remote with my MBP and the other remote with Apple TV. Both parings have been successfull (chain icon) but still both remotes can be used on both devices. How can I resolve this issue? (and no, I don't want to disable the IR on my MBP)
Is it possible that the two remotes have by coincidence the same ID?

I am sure that I have done that correctly. Apple TV and MBP states that a remote has been paired, but still both work on both devices. Is it possible that both remotes have the same ID (by coincidence)?

  • Graphic problems/errors with Mainstage 3 and MBP (15'' 2011)

    Hi,
    I bought Mainstage 3 for my MBP (15'' 2011).
When i click con "perform" i get graphic errors.
I have the same issue with the old Mainstage version since Mountain Lion.
Also a fresh installation didn't help.
I think i'm not the only one with this issue!
I don't know how to report a bug?
    Perhaps someone can help me.
(and  I'm probably not the only one (see feedback in Apple Store) If you also have this problem, please add a comment with your configuration (Hardware, Software))
    /forgotten ebi
So, here an example how it looks like when i click on "perform":

Same configuration, same problem. BUT I found a workaround.
Mainstage has this error with the AMD video card and/or a second monitor connected.
With a little app (http://gfx.io)  it's possible to really force the MBPro to use the Intel Graphics card.
This will work only with the internal screen, not with a second screen connected.
And sometimes you need to restart, to really make the Intel video card free.
This works fine...In the meantime of a fix.

  • Can I use 3-5 TCs in my office to "decentralize" data for imac and MBP?

    Hi Apple Gang!
I recently switched from Windows to Mac and I am pretty happy with what I have seen so far. My newest baby is a 2TB Time Capsule, which works wonderfully so far.
Since I was used to work with only 1 PC in the past, I have lots of external USB harddisks which I connected via a USB hub.
For the future I would like to store the many TBs wirelessly on like a "stack" of Time Capsules. (One having the LAN cable from my Internet Router and the others just wirelessly working in the same network.)
I am not sure why this is discussed nowhere online. Maybe it is dumb to do or something, but I really don't mind spending additional $ in order to be as cable-less as I can. (Would not like to buy NAS devices that need many LAN cable connections and stuff.)
    *So again... My vision is:*
*- an imac on the desk*
*- my mbp in the bedroom*
*- 3 - 5 Time Capsules on the desk, offering access to my (TC stored) files via any of my two computers.*
Is this possible? Is it hard to configure?
    Best regards,
    Chris

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
If all those Time Capsules are in the same place, it would be a lot cheaper just to connect multiple external disk drives to one Time Capsule through a USB hub. You don't need the networking/Wi-Fi capability of multiple Time Capsules.

  • Would like to buy TC to replace AE for iMac and MBP; questions

    hi all--
currently i have a dual-band airport extreme on bridge mode connected by ethernet to my AT&T Uverse wireless router. we have several Airport Express' and an ATV2 in the house and the 2 wireless connections; the g put out by Uverse, and an n put out by the AE. I switch to either one depending on location. I have a WD 1TB drive hooked up to my 750GB iMac via FW800. for years that was fine as the iMac was the main computer and i just worried about it's backups.
now we have upgraded a 2007 MacBook to a new MBPro w/ a 500GB SSD, 12 GB RAM, and an i7 chip. needless to say, now THIS computer has become pimary, as it blazes!! but now since there's so much info on it, it really needs to be backed up as well.
i'm OK with basic/moderate connectivity, but sometimes get confused by more complex issues. so let me throw my wants at you. i'm hoping that i can buy the 3TB TC to replace the AE and WD drive, split the TC drive into 2 partitions, and keep the iMac hooked up to it via ethernet, and let the MBPro back up wirelessly to it's own partition.
i guess this might be pretty basic and obvious, but before i buy all this and sell my old equipment, i'd like to make sure it should work. i've never set up a TC before, but i hope that i can just tell it to use the prior settings for the AE to get most setup issues out of the way. and i'm not quite sure how (or when in the process) to partition the TC drive, assuming i can.
if someone can advise me whether this setup is possible, and how to (or a link on how to) partition to TC drive for the 2 computers that would be fantastic. the main reason i'm unsure about doing this is that on Apple's TC page, they really only seem to discuss all computers backing up wirelessly, which would be silly for the iMac since they're side-by-side.
any thoughts for me, my faithful bretheren?

You cannot partition the TC drive but the two computers can use TM to their own areas without any need for you to intrude.. That part Apple do a good job of. The backup sparse bundle is effectively a disk image and the computer keeps track of it by virtual of serial numbers.. you will have no issues.
And the iMac can use ethernet which will be much faster.. you should do both backups initially by ethernet.. once completed the MBP can backup via wireless.. but the speed of wireless will make a mockery of your SSD.. wow, 500GB SSD.. !!
The TC should be relatively easy to slot into place of the AE.. it is really the same thing.. but I sure would NOT sell it all off until you get everything working.. and I would still keep the firewire drive just as a further backup.. there is nothing wrong with using a different software and then leaving the FW drive in a friend or relatives house for a rainy day.

  • Transmit Rate on my Mac Pro and MBP

    Hi,
I have a early 09 MBP and an early 08 Mac Pro. I recently upgraded both from SL to ML. Both are running on the same wireless network, set up with anAirport express. I am experiencing really erratic wifi signals on my Mac Pro (it'll drop out w/i a few min. of connecting to a wifi), though my mbp stays on the network just fine.
I opened up system profiler and wrote down the following numbers
                             MBP                              Pro
    Signal/ noise      -66 dBm / -86 dBm          -84 dBm / -85 dBm
    Transmit rate     117                                   26
    MCS Index          14                                   9
What does these number mean? do I need a new airport card for my pro?
    Thanks
    Angela

  • I have 2 apple id's and the ipad and mbp id's do not match for the app store.. How to fix?

MBP(Snow Leopard) with apple ID 1
iPad synch's MBP to ID 1 since purchase 14 months ago.
Upgraded to IOS5 and now App store wants me to do iPad app update using Apple ID2
    Question:
If I resynch the iPad with MBP(Snow Leopard) will things "reset" so I'm back to ID 1?
I'm about to trigger the upgrade to Lion and am not sure if I have already migrated to iCloud. Would this fix things?
In the end of the day I want to target everything on ID 1 as ID 2 is a .mac account that will go away next June.
    Thanks

All purchases (and their updates) are forever tied to the ID used when they were bought.  You cannot erase an ID, you simply stop using it.    You will have to allow your son an exclusive account if he wants to use your computer.   Can you log in under your ID now ... or do you have to use his?    If the latter is the case, he has clearly changed your ID to one that is his.
