Diadem V9.1 SP2c - DAT Files parameter settings change during work

Hello,
we use Diadem V9.1 SP2c in our company. There are a lot of colleagues using this software.
We use also parallel Diadem V6 / V8.
If we store Data (.DAT format)  with V9 (Settings: ANSI, REAL32,..) the settings of the parameters change during the work with V9!!!
Originally I made a startscript  setting up all these parameters in the right way.
What can I do, do avoid these changes in V9 during work? Older Versions can't open this data generated with V9 e.g. 'UNICODE' settings!
Thanks!

Hi again,
I am a little confused about the fact, that Diadem worked withe the wanted settings for a while and than changes the settings by itself somehow.
We dont know of any problem, where Diadem changes settings "by itself".
A possible reason for the problem might be a failure in the script.
If you change the settings without running the startscript (just via the Diadem Menu), does the settings change back after a while, too?

Stefan Henke

    Did you reinstall CS3 after CC?
    For that matter, doing an in-place upgrade on the OS is always a gamble with Adobe programs. Reinstalling all the versions you need, in order, would probably solve your problem.
    And you shouldn't need to save as IDML after opening the .inx in CC.

  • How to increase number of data files parameter

    Dear All,
    I am facing problem in increasing number of data files associated with the DB. I have DB_FILES = 200 and want to set it to 300. DB was started with SPFILE.
    Tell me how to increase this parameter. I dont want to stop DB also. I will be thankful if anyone guide me in both ways to stop DB and without stopping it.

    Madrid,
    Please don't take it as nit-picking.Just wanted to point an enhancement in 10g regarding recreating control file for increasing number of datafiles.I am sure you must be aware about it.
    Please see this link and this note,
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/dfiles.htm#sthref1340
    When you issue CREATE DATABASE or CREATE CONTROLFILE statements, the MAXDATAFILES parameter specifies an initial size of the datafile portion of the control file. However, if you attempt to add a new file whose number is greater than MAXDATAFILES, but less than or equal to DB_FILES, the control file will expand automatically so that the datafiles section can accommodate more files.
    From 10g onwards,the requirement to recreate teh control file is lifted.
    Please correct me if I interpreted the note in a wrong way.
    Regards

  • How to Refresh JTree if a file System got changed during Run-time

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to refresh a JTree(javax.swing.JTree) used for displaying file system(both local and remote).
    I'm getting a problem if a file/directoy is added to the file system, after my Applet is loaded. Actually, i have used DefaultTreeModel's reload() method for refreshing and calling it inside SwingUtilities.invokeLater() using Thread, but its not working.
    I want that the tree should reflect the latest Files/Directories on the click of a node, if any file or directory is added under that node.
    Plz tell me if this is possible or not.
    Thanks

    Hi Shay_te,
    Thanx for ur reply as i was eagerly waiting for the one.
    but the example is using the TreeTable
    and i have used JTree and DefaultTreeModel.
    I'm calling reload(node) within treeExpand() method
    Then, i'm regestring addTreeModelListener() as
    m_model.addTreeModelListener(new javax.swing.event. TreeModelListener(){ }
    inside which all 4 methods are over-ridden

  • IPhone High Score Data File/Sort Oddities

    Hello all.
    I am working on an iPhone game which is nearly complete but I am having trouble with the following high score sort/write code. I am aiming to keep up to 10 scores, sorted from highest to lowest obviously.
    The code creates a new data file with the current score added as first entry if there is no existing data file (and this works), or it creates a data file with the current score as first entry if a data file exists but is empty for some reason (and this works as well), or it adds the current score to a data file of existing scores if it is within the top ten or there are less than ten entries (this is where it gets odd).
    If there is one existing score in the data file, the current score is added and sorted properly. If there are two scores in the data file, the application crashes BUT the data file shows the current score was correctly added and sorted to the existing scores. If there are three existing scores, the application crashes and the data file remains unchanged.
    I have been over the logic many times and tried many different variations of the logic structure to no avail. I suspect it is something simple but I've been staring at it too long to see. Any ideas?
    If there is a better way to display the code/formatting on the forum, please let me know. It doesn't look pretty this way and there must be a way to make it more readable here. I tried to manually format it some to help. The code follows (score variable is brought in from another class but works properly in my tests). At the end I have repeated an isolated snippet of the code where I think the problem occurs.
    *CODE START:*
    int i, ii;
    struct highscoreentry {
    NSString *name;
    int highScore;
    struct highscoreentry structArray(10);
    FILE *fin = fopen("highscore.dat", "rb");
    if (fin != NULL) { //if the data file exists proceed here
    for (i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
    if (fscanf(fin, "%s %d\n", structArray(i).name, &structArray(i).highScore) != EOF) { //if data exists for this iteration proceed
    ii = i; //ii will be the last entry of existing data
    for (i = ii; i > -1; i--) { //will begin at last entry and work up the list of scores to sort
    if (score > structArray(i).highScore) { //if current score is higher than recoded score, recorded score moves down 1 place
    structArray(i + 1) = structArray(i);
    structArray(i).name = (NSString *)"JESSE";
    structArray(i).highScore = score;
    if (i == ii && ii < 9) //if there are less than 10 entries we will add another for our new entry
    ii = ii + 1;
    else if (score < structArray(i).highScore && i == ii) { //if current score is less than last recorded score it becomes new last entry
    structArray(i + 1).name = (NSString *)"JESSE";
    structArray(i + 1).highScore = score;
    if (ii < 9)
    ii = ii + 1;
    fclose(fin);
    if (fin == NULL) { //if the data file does not exist prepare data for new file
    ii = 0; //will be used to limit write iterations to this single new entry
    structArray(0).name = (NSString *)"JESSE";
    structArray(0).highScore = score;
    FILE *fout;
    fout = fopen("highscore.dat", "wb"); //should create/rewrite data file from scratch
    for (i = 0; i <= ii; i++) {
    fprintf(fout, "%s %d\n", structArray(i).name, structArray(i).highScore);
    fclose(fout);
    *CODE END*
    As far as I can tell by commenting out different portions of the code, the problem appears to be somewhere in here:
    *CODE START:*
    if (fin != NULL) { //if the data file exists proceed here
    for (i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
    if (fscanf(fin, "%s %d\n", structArray(i).name, &structArray(i).highScore) != EOF) { //if data exists for this iteration proceed
    *CODE END*
    ...but it baffles me that this works with one structure in the data file, crashes with two structures in the data file but correctly processes/sorts them and writes the file properly, and crashes with three structures in the data file without doing any additional work.

    Actually I've found online material to be adequately, and sometimes more than adequately, elucidating in learning the language. When I decided to take a stab at this I spent about 40 hours of my spare time the first week reading 2 or 3 different "takes" on the C/C++/Objective C language in addition to Apple's docs on their implementation along with the iPhone SDK. As I mentioned, I've thus far found the language quite clear and concise. I began my application the second week and this is the first time in 7 weeks of coding where I've felt the need to ask assistance. Every other problem I've solved, leaving no errors, warnings or leaks in my software and accomplishing every task I've set to this point.
    I find reading several different "takes" on a subject helps fill out an understanding from different perspectives. In this case, one perspective might lead the reader to believe or misunderstand the full use/context of a particular syntax, while reading from multiple sources can show the same syntax used in different contexts, broadening the understanding of its use, and that understanding can be user further to interpolate uses in a variety of situations.
    I am new to C/C++/Objective C and the iPhone SDK, but I am not new to programming. It may have been some time (other than hand-coding my website the last few years) and my language experience may be limited to BASIC, HTML, PHP and Javascript, but from my view learning a new language is relatively easy once you know one...even if it is BASIC. The general logic structure remains the same. The overall software design concept remans essentially the same. Both are going to use variables, arrays, subroutines, memory allocation/management, input and output of data, runtime logic, etc. I am 80-90% sure I know exactly how I want to attack a coding problem every time...I just need to know how to "say it in C".
    I don't remember when I first started coding, but I know by age 7 I wrote a karaoke style "Happy Birthday" for my great aunt with music playing through a Commodore 16 via "beeps" figuring the particular vibrations per second of the speaker (the hertz values) and durations for each note in time and pitch perfectly along with "lyrics" printed to screen with the music. To me, learning C is like learning a new foreign language. I took 2 years of French in high school and had to study at it but aced it nonetheless. I then opted to take Spanish but after a semester I opted to stop because the pacing was too slow. Learning Spanish after learning French was a piece of cake. They are in the same general language family and the syntax construction is very similar. I only needed the raw data of the words to fit to the rules I already knew. I didn't need to learn the same rules a second time.
    The C/Objective C language seems no more complicated than it need be, which is to say it seems simple in doing what it needs to do and I am impressed with that simplicity thus far. I am also impressed with Apple's implementation with regard to the iPhone. Being able to provide music via 4-5 lines of code using AVAudioPlayer is transcendental compared to "beeping" every note monophonically.
    Apple's explanations are very clear and concise. It is just, sometimes their examples are sparse or too narrow in scope to get a rounded context. However, their docs are very good and there is a wealth of information here on the net. My biggest complaint with Apple's docs really stems from the fact they seem to want to shove Interface Builder at everything and provide the code to do so but leave the reader stranded if the reader would rather stay within XCode exclusively and do more programmatically rather than leave that much "behind the curtain" work to Interface Builder...but it is a minor complaint.
    On pointers...I do understand the use of pointers, perhaps not to the nth degree as I am just starting out, but the concept makes sense to me. I understand they are not "content" but a memory address location of the "content". I also understand why pointing to a location which is undefined or unprotected is damaging to whatever may be in that location already and to the data being pointed since it can be inadvertently overwritten my some other memory using item.
    {quote}No. The (i < 9) condition is critical. Writing to structArray[10] will crash, since structArray[9] is the end of the array. In practice such a crash might not happen right away, though. If our program's data allocation actually ended at the end of the array, the crash would be immediate. But what usually happens when we write past the end of an array is that the beginning of some other data is overwritten.{quote}
    I need to slap my forehead on this one. I know better than that. I don't know why I missed that. Too many late nights I suppose.
    {quote}(NSString*) is called a type cast in that context.{quote}
    Yes, which is why I used it to deal with the incompatible type error I thought I had at that point, but I shouldn't have assumed by appeasing the compiler I was necessarily solving the problem.
    {quote} The best I can do for now is to caution that an enquiring mind, like all virtues, can be taken too far. I think it's important to compromise and copy good models sometimes. This isn't just to avoid reinventing the wheel. Sometimes it's good to remember we only have a limited time on Earth.{quote}
    Agreed...and I don't expect to understand every nuance the first time around. I expect to at least understand how each successful line of code works in its context, but I imagine some processes will take a few times through before it "clicks" how it works in a greater context than its own, and I am all right with that. I also understand deadlines are deadlines whether they be software development or otherwise and a broad eye needs to be kept to remaining on the track forward.
    Anyway, off to my day job.
    Thank you again...I began reading up on NSDictionary and NSUserDefaults last night. Will post soon.

  • RH 8 - How to retain File Update Settings

    Using RH8, integrated with FM9, when I open and close a project, the File Update Settings change for the linked FM chapters.
    Any ideas how I can prevent them from changing?
    Thanks,
    Stacy

    Sure!
    Open the File Update Settings tab on the FrameMaker Document Settings window. (Right-click on the linked Frame chapter in RoboHelp and select Properties.)
    The settings on this window are the ones that change with each opening and closing of the project.
    When I re-open a project, RH is defaulting to "preserve" many of the topics (but not all), so I have to go through and uncheck all of the topics that I want RH to update. The Help system probably has 250 topics, and with no "Select All" button, it's a lot of unchecking. Would love to preserve these settings.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Data file produced by Java application

    A application developed with pure Java should work on any platform with Java VM. But what about the data file produced by such application? For example: if i developed an application with pure java on PC(windows), then i ran the application and the application produced some data files on PC. Then if i copy both the application and the data files to other platforms (sun work-station, Apple, IBM mainframe, Vax 11, ...), will the application be able to continue load these data files? Is there any difference between java.io 'character stream' and 'byte stream' in terms of data file transfer among different platforms?
    Thanks for your consideration.

    generally speaking text data files can be used on different systems, but it would depend on the encoding used.
    if data portability is a big concern for you then the solution does already exist, it is XML.

  • Mac creates a save every hour, quickly filling the external drive. The "delete unnecessary files in Trash" does not work.

    How to make the Mac do save at certain intervals?
    Why would I want five saves the day?
    I try to delete unnecessary files to free up space.
    Trash on the Mac has become very slow, the removal process was take hours.
    Then the process of removing all stops.
    Why files are not removed through the trash?
    What could be causing the removal process?

    TimeMachine is designed to back up every hour. It saves only the files that have changed during the hour. After 24 hours TimeMachine culls the (up to) 24 backups to make a single backup for the day. After 30 days it takes the 7 oldest day backups and culls them into a single week backup.
    You should never manually touch files in the TimeMachine backup. It doesn't like that. The best practice for TimeMachine is to devote an external drive to TimeMachine and nothing else. Because TM backups are incremental, it is recommended that your TM hard drive be 2-4 times larger than the amount of drive space your computer is using. In other words, if your 1TB hard drive is 1/4 full (250GB in use) you should have a TM drive between 500GB and 1TB depending on how much more data you expect to add to your drive and how long you wish to keep old back files.
    Having said all this, you might prefer using some other program for backups. CarbonCopyCloner and ChronoSync are two programs you might want to look at.

  • When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the original file name being replaced during the downloading process?

    When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the file name being changed during this downloading process?

    Hi Glenyse,
    Here are my steps.
    1.  I upload multiple image (jpg) files onto my photo album.
    2.  I select the "sharing" by email option for this album.
    3.  I enter the recipient's email address.
    4.  The recipient receives my message and clicks on the link.
    5.  The recipient accesses my photo album and clicks on one of the images.
    6.  The image opens up to its own screen.
    7.  The recipient selects the "download" and then save file option.
    Here is the part I do not understand.  For some reason, during this "download" process, the original name which I have given to the file is replaced by different name.  So I was hoping that someone knows how to prevent the file name from being changed during the "download and save" process.
    Much appreciated if you can help me find a solution to this problem.

  • How do I import binary data files (with header info) into DIAdem?

    We have lots of data acquired by nCode datagate. Files are binary data with header info. How do I import this into DIAdem? Typical (short) file attached. Also of interest, can I stream data from Sony PC208/SIR1000 recorders?
    Attachments:
    Propshft.dac ‏4 KB

    I have successfully imported your file into DIAdem using the nCode file filter included with DIAdem. You might have to make that file filter known to DIAdem by following these steps (this assumes you have version 8 of DIAdem):
    1. Go to the 'Window' menu in DIAdem and select 'Close all'
    2. Go to the 'Settings' menu and select 'GPI-DLL Registration'
    3. Click the 'Add' button in the window and select the 'GfSnCode' DLL in the 'DIAdem/AddInfo' directory
    4. The program will prompt you to restart.
    5. After you have restarted DIAdem, go to the DATA icon, select 'File - Open' from the DATA menu and in the dialog that appears, choose 'nSoft Data File Format' in the 'Files of type:' field.
    6. Select your data file and load
    That's it.
    With regards to your Sony reco
    rder data, I would need to get my hands on an actual data file to try it out. In general, DIAdem can import ANY binary file format by creating a header in the 'File - Import via header' section in DATA. If you have lots of data files from the SONY recorder, a DLL can be created for that specific file format with the free DLL toolkit included with DIAdem.
    Leave me a message here if you have any additional questions.

  • Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, can we set it as input parameter?

    Hi,
    I am a new user of Crystal Reports 2008.
    I have created a report with charts in it. The input data comes from a csv text file.
    Can I set the name of this text file as an input parameter?
    as I need to generate 44 similar reports with different text filenames(and data)?
    Thank you.
    Regards

    Brian,
    Thanks much.
    I did exactly what you said.
    Just to see any change, I first gave a bad report file name just to see if I am accidentally pointing to a different file,
    but I got an error saying report not found.
    Then I renamed my original datafile name and generated a report and it still generated one without giving an error.
    Then I also gave a junk name to the logoninfo and printed that name, the new name was assigned to logoninfo, but the code did not error out.
    It ended up generating the report.
    Now here is what I think is happening,
    1) The save data in report option seems to be still on even though I have turned it off in 2 locations
    a) file -> Report Options
    b) file -> Options -> Reporting tab.
    2) For some reason the logoninfo is getting ignored as well.
    Since I did not see any answers yesterday I posted a link to this thread on the .Net forum
    Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, can we set it as input param? C#
    and Ludek Uher says that I am connecting to the text file via a DAO database engine and so need to use the same code for changing the text file as for changing an Access database.
    But the link he gave me tells me to try the same thing that we have been trying..
    Here is my plan,
    1) I will first try and find out why my save data with report option is still on ( but it shows off in Crystal ).
    2) why is LogonInfo getting ignored.
    Meanwhile any suggestions from anyone are welcome.

  • Having difficulty reading data file and doing analysis, maybe DIAdem can help

    Hello,
    I am new to DIAdem but I think it may be helpful to my application.
    I used Write Labview Measurement File VI with n-signals input to generate a data file containing 2*n columns(time column and data column iteratively). Now I need to do data analysis from the file. I'd tried to use Read Labview Measurement File VI to load the data but didn't work. I found that it can only read file with one signal as input and without file header. But why?
    What I want to do is to extract specific columns from the file. Some column has special flag values which divide the column into sections. I also need to extract these sections from the column and plot each of them. I know this can be easily done on other data analysis software but is there any way I can do it on Labview? Can DIAdem help with this?
    Thank you

    Hello,
    To answer your last question first, DIAdem can certainly help. You can open the TDM file you created with the Write LabVIEW Measurement File VI with DIAdem. If you navigate to the TDM file in the External Data window of DIAdem NAVIGATOR, you can drag and drop the file into the Data Portal and use the channels of data at will.
    You can also right-click on the file in the External Data window and choose Selective Opening…. There is a Help button in the Selective Opening window which will tell you more about using this feature.
    Either way, once your data is in the Data Portal, you can use the DIAdem ANALYSIS to perform a wide range of analysis on your data. For more on the capabilities of DIAdem, I recommend starting at NI DIAdem.
    Now, in regards to using the LabVIEW to access the data in your TDM file, this is also possible. If you are using LabVIEW 7.1, you will want to look at the Read Channel Groups example. This example uses a sequence of VIs from the Functions>>All Functions>>FileI/O>>Storage palette. The example demonstrates reading multiple channels from a TDM file.
