If my ipod says cannot open device-error diag halt, if i send it in will i lose all my music????

You can try third party utilities, but most of them depend on a healthy/working hard drive.

The current ABAP/4 program "ZVEMMWMS_RELACION_EMBARQUE " had to be terminated

    Hello joecui,
Did you publish the Internet Services?  You can do so by going to SE80 and publishing Webgui, System, and IAC to the Integrated ITS.  Or you can use the report W3_PUBLISH_SERVICES or transaction SIAC_PUBLISH_ALL_INT.

  • Issues with a T61 harddisk, UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, cannot also get in the Rescue and Recovery

    Dear Lenovo Support Community,
I have a T61 with XP pro on it. This is the history of my harddisk problems with it:
(the harddisk is HDD0 Fujitsu MHW21160BJ G1 and everything in laptop (HW and SW) are same as the factory sold one)
    1. Unfortunately I had not made any recovery cd/dvd when the computer was healthy
    2. Some time ago, after a crash, and during the chkdsk in the following boot up, harddisk showed 12kb bad sector
    3. Due to more crashes and not being able to login once, went to rescue & recovery and only recovered OS to an old and healthy state. Kept my data, lost all the new programs installed but got the OS fine and running. --> I guess the bad thing that may have happened is that recovered OS may have used those bad sectors as well, but this is just a guess.
    4. Problems, slow downs, the 12kb bad sector, issues kept coming back every couple or few weeks. Repeated the rescue and recovery OS installations another two times.
    5. Few days ago, all was good, but needed to restart, but this time a blue screen came up with UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. This screen comes up even if I try to go into safe mode, with networking, or even with only DOS prompt.
    6. Tried to go to rescue and recovery (version 4), it took a really long time and was telling me that something wrong with the file \minit\setupapi.log and after a long long time that it got in the page for rescue and recovery, it was not doing anything by clicking on any of the buttons.
    7. Took the hard out, connected it through an external enclosure to another computer, the main drive could not be read at all, I/O error, not distinguishable.
    8. But the SERVICE drive was understood and I could even run chkdsk /F F:\ on it and it repaired the file mentioned above (\minit\setupapi.log).
    9. Put the hard back into T61, went to rescue & recovery, this time the error on the file was not showing up, but since the step #8, I have not been able to get pass the initial screen of rescue & recovery. It doesn't go in at all.
    10. Found it through Google search, the famous post on this forum about fixing the Master Boot Record. Got the little program, burned on a CD, went through all of its steps, finished as described in the famous thread, but I am not sure if it has been any help to me so far.
    11. In few other occasions, connected the hard through the external enclosure to another computer and found online and used programs like Disk Doctors Windows Recovery Data and EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard and was able to just read inside both NTFS main disk and FAT32 service disk (windows can also read the service disk but cannot read the main disk). Using the free version of EASEUS, I could even read and save my personal data since my last backup, so I am good to even format the T61 hard but still I don't want to give up on that.
    12. While the lenovo harddisk is in it, in a restart went to BIOS (F1) and ran the harddisk diagnosis, It said: "Pass: Controller Diag, Error code 0000: Read verification failed". And after the "Test complete", it gave a red message in the middle of screen that "<<< An error was found. Call for service >>>"
    13. As mentioned in #1, I don't have Lenovo's recovery Windows XP CD(s) for T61, but I have some other windows xp installation CD's, I thought I can put them in CD drive, boot up from CD, and try to recover or repair the windows, It seems that they tell me there is no harddisk in your computer!! When I press "R" to go to recovery console, it tells me: "Setup did not find any hard drives installed in your computer."
My questions for dear members of this forum are:
    1. Can I recover my T61 harddisk with the above description? It is being read nicely with the recovery programs, so it should have not been damaged seriously. Please guide me to other things that I can try?
    2. I can see and read the Service part of the drive from Windows (no recovery program needed) while connecting the drive through external enclosure to another computer. Can I run a program from the Service part of disk and make those T61 Recovery CD and DVD?
    3. If I purchase the Recovery CD(s) from Lenovo, would they be doing any magic or help in my case described above?
    4. Can I make recovery CD(s) from another T61 laptop and use them for mine?
Thanks all for reading my long post and helping me. God Bless.
    Best Regards,
    AL_K

    Step One: Install windows
    Step Two: run system update
Step Three: Your done (optionally have a beer and relax)
Sorry, step three was a bit of humor I added.
Actually these recovery CDs were produced before the first T61 was made, probably in 2006. The T61 line was replaced in 2008.
You can activate with the code on your COA, I've done it many times, just make sure you do a full (new) installation, not an upgrade, from an oem disc.
If you do end up using the original product recovery disc set, your steps are more like this...
    1. Install disc one...   wait 30-60mins
    2. Install disc two...   wait 30-60mins
    3. Install disc three...  wait 30-60mins
    4. Install disc four...   wait 30-60mins
    5. Install disc five...  wait 30-60mins
    6. Install disc six...   wait 30-60mins
    7. Install disc seven...   wait 30-60mins
    8. Install disc eight...  wait 30-60mins
    9. download latest service pack for windows and install (over an hour)
    10. Install (replace old version)  system update and run.
    11. go to windows update and update several years worth of patches and hotfixes. (1-4 hours)
    12. kick back and have a warm beer and cold pizza, if there is any left after I finished hours ago and celibrated already.
Also, after going through all that, you've not only installed windows, then replaced nearly the entire operating system, but you've also used valuable harddisc space to make several redundant copies of the outdated files, drivers and apps.
Please understand, I'm not saying the recovery discs are a bad design, they work great, and back in 2006-7-8-9 I'd happily go through all that work, but today all the stuff on them is to old so it's futile to go through all that. It would be really nice if Lenovo updated the install discs, and we could download the latest version to use, but they basically just leave them untouched after the model line is released, so nothing on that disc is newer then about 2006.
I'll also add that both George and I have done this well over 100 times each, so we wouldn't be suggesting this if it wasn't the best option, but in the end you'll have a working system no matter which route you take to get there, so the only question to ask yourself is...
Do you like your beer cold and your pizza hot
Good luck, and enjoy your endeavours

  • Lync 2010 Frontend Failover simulation

    Hi,
I have a frontend pool with 2 physical servers DNS Load Balanced, this is integrated with an MX-one. everything works great when both servers are up.
My problem is when I simulate a failure with any front end, the below starts happening
1- Could not join meetings invites at first attempt. If I click the invite again the meeting would join no problem. The first attempt would say "Sorry, Something went wrong with the meeting" and additional info says AMError:Conference
Lookup timed out. Any additional tries after this first attempt succeeds and meetings are joined no problem.
2- Call delay experienced when the first frontend server is down (Most of the users are homed on that server as their preferred as I only have 10 or less users). In the logging I see the initial SIP invite and then 101 progress report and
then a blank 10-15 seconds then I see the call going through as normal, but just before it does I see a diag error saying that connection to fronend1:5070 failed (Mediation is collocated)
Can any one give a hand to explain whether this is normal or I am experiencing an issue with those 2 items ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey Johan,
We do have a cisco CSS deployed, the web page loads fine if the frontend is down, it just gives an error as stated above.
For the second issue, yes I have Edge servers with no communication problems whatsoever -At least that's what MSTURNPING tells me- but I was able to trace the call and find a consistent behavior.
Now when we create a user a list of preferred servers is assigned to him, lets say we have 2 users, User A and User B. User A's preferred servers are FrontEnd 1 and FrontEnd 2, while user B preferred servers are FrontEnd 2 and FrontEnd 1.
If we Shutdown FrontEnd 1, User A will experience the delay while User B will never experience this. If we shutdown FrontEnd 2, User B will experience the delay while user A will not.
Tracing the Mediation, SIPSTAck and S4 shows that an invite is sent, followed by a 101 Progress Report then about 10-15 seconds of nothing, then a DIAG msg saying
    LogType
    : connection
    Severity
    : error
    Text
: Failed to complete outbound connection
    Peer-IP
    : SHUTDOWN_FRONTEND_IP:5070
Then this is followed by another message saying "Failed again to connect to the Shutdown_Frontend_IP:5070", then a Request Successfully routed then the call establishes through the running mediation server.
Now I have tested this with many other users, the same thing applies, if they have the frontend as a primary in the preferred list and it goes down. the same exact trace is seen

  • Diag Tool Error: ITS - Web AS must Match?

I was having a diag tool error and I got it fixed but I want to understand what is happening a bit more. I orginally posted it in the ITS forum ( Link: [Bothersome ITS error msg in Diag Tool;) but hindsight tells me this is probably the more proper forum.
So in my portal system landscape I have these 2 properties:
    ITS Host Name -> mycompany.com:1443
    ITS Protocol -> https
    (For the Internet transaction Server)
Web AS Host Name -> mycompany.com:1080
    Web AS Protocol -> http
    (For BW Queries)
    Here is my error;
Port '1443' of ITS Hostname (mycompany.com:1443) is not identical with HTTP Port '1080' of WebAS ABAP system. HTTP Port of Message Server (profile parameter ms/http_port) is retrieved from ABAP system. Port '1443' is properly HTTP Port of Application Server.
The fix is to make the ITS Protocol http and specify 1080 as the port setting so it matches the Web AS.
What I'm not understanding is why can't ITS be https and my queries be http?
If they can be different, is there another change I need to make maybe in the Web AS?
Points awarded for providing understanding of the setting.
    Mike

    Ravi,
When I make both http I get no errors in the diag tool. YEAH!!!
By the way my ports are abap: http-1080, https-1443
By the way my ports are portal: http-55600, https-55601

  • Error in running  diags on fpga

    hi all,
i could successfully download the opensparcT1 on ml509 board and ran all my diags ending in good trap...
i repeated the same by creating a buggy model which had given bad traps for my diags during simulation...
i could synthesise and generate the .bit file for the buggy model.. and also download the same on the board...when i run my diags i get the following error
    MBFW_INFO: running RTL diag "exu_add.s"
    MBFW_INFO:Microblaze firmware initialization completed
    MBFW_INFO:Powering on opensparc T1
MBFW_ERROR:timed out waiting for pcx_pkt data word
    MBFW_INFO:existing with status 1 error
    can anyone help...

    Hi Lenu,
The message "MBFW_ERROR: timed out waiting for pcx_pkt data word" indicates that the processor hasn't made a memory request in a long time. Either the processor is in a tight loop, executing code out of the I-cache, or the processor is waiting for a response to a previous memory request that somehow got lost. In that case the processor just locks up. What kind of bug did you insert?
Also, check your place and route log and make sure your buggy design met timing.

  • ODBC functions SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return error:"DIAG [22001] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]String data, right truncation (0) "

    Problem Description:
ODBC functions SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return error:”DIAG [22001] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]String data, right
truncation (0) “. When we enable tracing in the ODBC administrator, in the SQL.log we see that values for the arguments: ColumnSize, BufferLength, and StrLen_or_IndPtr of ODBC function SQLBindParameter are not being displayed.
    Environment Used:
OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition.
Complier: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1 for x64.
    Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2008
MDAC: Microsoft Data Access Components SDK 2.8
Note: This problem is seen only in our 64bit application. However, in 32bit
SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return successfully.
As we could not find the values of 6th, 9th and 10th arguments(ColumnSize,
    BufferLength, and StrLen_or_IndPtr) passed to
SQLBindParameter in the ODBC traces for 64bit, we are not sure whether the values for the above mentioned arguments are received correctly by SQLBindParameter or not. This information would help us to debug further. So, could you please let us know why
    these values are not displayed.

    Hi Nalsr,
    From my research, I found:
    "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]String
data right truncation" error may be returned from a call to
SQLBindParameter if the size of the string parameter being used is greater than the size of the column being compared to. In other words if the
string size of the <expression> to the left of the <comparison_operator> is less than the
string size of the <expression> to the
right, ODBC may return this error.
The resolution is to make the string size of the <expression> to the
right of the <comparison_operator> less than or equal to the
string size of the <expression> on the left.
It is difficult to track down this type of problem when third party development applications are being used. ODBC Trace can be used to help determine if this problem is occuring.
Here is an example where the customer has submitted a query "select count(*) from type1 where type1 = ?", type1 is varchar(5) and the
data type being passed by the application is char[9].
Here is the relevant portion of the trace. The following information from the "exit" of SQLDescribeParam
    SWORD * 0x0095e898 (12)
    UDWORD * 0x0095e880 (5)
Maps to the following with the actual value in parenthesis - SQL_VARCHAR Size 5:
    SQLSMALLINT *DataTypePtr
    SQLUINTEGER *ParameterSizePtr
The "exit" value from SQLBindParameter provides the following
    information:
    SWORD 1 <SQL_PARAM_INPUT>
    SWORD 1 <SQL_C_CHAR>
SQL Data Type SWORD 12 <SQL_VARCHAR>
    Parameter Size UDWORD 5
    SWORD 0
    Value PTR 0x0181c188
    Value Buffer Size SDWORD 5
    String Length SDWORD * 0x0181c103 (9)
The string length parameter is the length of the
string being bound to the parameter, in this instance there is a size mismatch which results in the SQLError and the SQLErrorW with the message "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server
    Driver]String data
    right truncation" .
    Hope this could be helpful.
    Best regards,
    Halin Huang

  • ITunes Network Diags pass, but Restore fails with Error 3014 and recommended solutions risky and unhelpful

We've had routine OS updates fail recently (weeks apart)
on both an iPad mini and a 5th Gen iPod. The devices ended up in recovery mode
and we had to Restore them to factory defaults.
That is bad enough, but it gets worse...
We started iTunes, plugged in the bricked device, and were
prompted to do a Restore. Clicked OK. It ran for a while, completed the
extraction step, and the failed with unknown error 3014.
We searched support, and there is plenty written about
unknown error 3014 when doing a Restore. Most point to network connectivity
issues and things like blocked ports or conflicting security software. Sure, I
can see how those could cause problems that may be outside Apple’s control
(although doing everything over HTTPS would eliminate the issue.)
BUT, iTunes has built in network diagnostics (Help ->
Run Diagnostics… -> Network connectivity tests). Shouldn’t these tell me if
there is a connectivity problem with iTunes? The support articles all seem to
tell you to manually dive into all kinds of low level  things such as hosts files.
iTunes network diagnostics all passed, but out of
desperation, we still tried shutting off our anti-virus (Avast) and firewall
(Comodo), connecting directly to the internet without our router blocking or
filtering anything, editing the hosts file, trying a different PC, etc. as
instructed. It was all a wild goose chase – nothing helped, and Apple’s
instructions exposed us to security risks (attaching directly to the Internet
with no router, firewall or ant-virus software!)
    I can’t be 100% sure because I still had our anti-virus
SW and firewall turned off, but what seemed to finally work was to just try
dozens of times until iTunes and Apple’s servers finally worked!
After dozens of tries on two PCs over two days, the last
thing I did was to turn off our anti-virus and firewall again, started iTunes,
plugged in the device, attempted a Restore when prompted, retried when it
failed. Then closed and reopened iTunes while leaving the device attached, and
Restored when prompted. That one time, we got lucky and it worked. I’m sure
many people really have blocked ports, etc. but I can’t see how that could explain
our problems. Hopefully this posting will help someone.
    ** Apple – If you’re reading this ** Please (1) find out
why we and others in the forums report persistent 3014 errors that seem to
magically go away if you retry often enough over a long enough period of time,
and (2) make sure the iTunes network diagnostics are truly thorough, and then
direct customers to them rather than making them dig through port mapping
settings and hosts files. Thanks for your consideration.
