  • Problem recieving email Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 530 Must issue a STARTTLS co

    Hello all,
I am running OSX Server 10.4.9 configured mail services. I'm able to recieve mail from Yahoo. However when logging onto Webmail from Cox or when trying to receive email from others some are getting this messgae:
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 530 Must issue a STARTTLS command first
I am kind of new to this stuff and can't fuguire out what this means or how to fix it... Any help would be great.
Second question does anybody now how to configure outlook windows users?

Configure Pop, SMTP with SSL. I just want the mail server to be secure and don't want to end up with open relays for spammers...
I don't have alternate ports enabled. I read the web page and 'm confused as to how to do it?How exactly do I do this? I'm reading:Alternate SMTP Ports
To enable alternate SMTP submission ports, add one or both of the following to /etc/postfix/master.cf
For organization, paste just below this line:
    smtp inet n - n - - smtpd
    # Code to enable two common alternate SMTP Submission ports
    # Modify the -o options to suit your requirements
    # Option lines should start with one or more spaces
    # Don't forget to open firewall ports for outside access
    # Enable SMTP-TLS on port 587 with specified options
    587 inet n - n - - smtpd
    -o smtpdclientrestrictions=
    -o smtpdrecipient_restrictions=permit_saslauthenticated,reject
    -o content_filter=
    -o smtpdenforcetls=yes
    # Enables SMTPS on port 465 with specified options.
    # This works well with Outlook 2003
    465 inet n - n - - smtpd
    -o smtpdtlswrappermode=yes
    -o smtpdclientrestrictions=
    -o smtpdrecipient_restrictions=permit_saslauthenticated,reject
    -o content_filter=
    After saving, from Terminal, issue:
    sudo postfix reload
    Note 1:
You can achieve the same setup by uncommenting the appropriate lines in master.cf. This tip uses the port# to be clear.
    Note 2:
You can assign most postfix main.cf options to each port using the format above. The example code disables the content filter for user submittted mail (not the best idea for all sites, but very effecient), smtpdclientsrestrictions are bypasses and smtpd_recipient restrictions are set to only allow authenticated users to submit.
OK what do I paste and where?

In your imta.cnf file, look down to the second part, marked,
    "Part II, Channel Block"
    Look further down, find
    ! tcp_local
    tcp_local smtp mx single_sys remotehost inner\ switchchannel identnonelimited subdirs 20 maxjobs 20\
    pool SMTP_POOL maytlsserver maysaslserv\ dequeue_removeroute\
    tcp-daemon somedomain.com
The 4 lines after "!tcp_local" are all on one line. I've added the backslash character to show a continuation. The next line contains the tcp-daemon keyword, and is followed by what the server will send out on the ehlo/helo line.

    Hi,
Is there any smarthost or antispam apps configured for the outbound emails?
Please check whether other users in your domain can send messages to Hotmail.com. Also check whether you can send message to other domain accounts or just Hotmail.com.
Please confirm if you has installed antivirus or antispam software on the server. If there is one, try disabling it.
If other users also cannot send external messages, please get the send connect configurations of your Exchange server:

I am getting the above error when i send a mail from external domain. I have exchange server 2010 on and O365 account. From last 2 months i am not using O365 account and even active sync is also not working. And recently O365 subscription was over. So now

The email address you specified couldn't be found or is invalid. It may be due to a bad entry in your Outlook or Outlook Web App recipient AutoComplete cache. Use the steps below to delete the entry from the cache:
    Click New mail.
In the To field start typing the recipient's name or email address until the recipient appears in the drop-down list.
Use the DOWN ARROW and UP ARROW keys to select the recipient, and then press the DELETE key.
Then resend your message – delete and retype the recipient’s name or e-mail address before sending it.

    Hi,
Have you tried deleting the bad entry in your Outlook or Outlook Web App recipient AutoComplete cache as the error message suggested? If not, please have a try on it.
In addition, this issue may also occur if the on-premises mail-enabled user who represents the moved mailbox isn't stamped correctly with the target address. The Exchange server generates an NDR message because the on-premises Active Directory Domain Services
(AD DS) can't locate the user in order to route the mail correctly. To resolve it, please refer to this KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2685437
Also have a look at the following article regarding 5.1.1 error:

  • Thunderbird keeps returning an error "no such user" when I try to send from some email addresses even though I know that is false.

emails will not send from @protranscript.net domain addresses, even though they receive just fine. The program keeps saying that the server says there is no such user, even when I try and email myself!

"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <[email protected]> No such user here. Please check the message recipient [email protected] and try again." I know for a fact that email exists because it is the one your reply came to, lol.

  • Getting Diagnostic Code 550 errors when sending mail

    Hi,
I've got a problem sending mail from OBIO and Zimbra web client. The message is returned by BeeHive SMTP server with diagnostic code 550 and status 500. I have set up my endpoint rules for email patterns *@mydomain and *@*. I have a relay to which all mails are forwarded. Testing by hand (i.e. telnet to port 25) works from the BeeHive server so I'm pretty sure the problem is in BeeHive transport configuration.
    Any ideas?

Do you use the simplerelay mode ? The release notes state that this mode does not work yet, so it could be the reason why it's not working.
If it's the case, (using beekeeper) just unclick the simple relay box, then corfigure your relay a bit lower on the screen.

    Hi Cinekc,
Besides SSorin's suggestion, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. Please use telnet to port 25 to test SMTP communication. Here is a thread for your reference.

    2. Please contact recipient side to verify if there is any limitation. What's more, I recommend you ask the recipient side add yourdomain.com into "The sender's domain is" exception of Anti-Spam transport rule and check the result.
Here is a thread for your reference.

I have a Groupwise system which is three quarters in SLES and only Webaccess and their domains still left in Netware...its GW 7.0.3 on SLES10SP2 OES2sp1...5500 Users, 14 Domains, 26 post Offices...currently being migrated to gmail...its a politcal thing
This sometimes causes some sync issues as I find the domains don't always align properly with reference to users....and have performed numerous top down rebuilds.
Case in point today, I have a user created 3 months ago that is reporting all her incoming mail is bouncing but her internal email is fine....and she can send out fine...replies bounce.
I took a look from the secondary domain the post office she is a member of and it all looks fine.
I then take a look from the Primary domain and cannot see her in the PO.
So I sync from secondary to Primary...then rebuild primary...great I can see her now from the primary domain
Send a few test emails and check the GWIA log - they are still bouncing
So then I connect to the domain with the GWIA, and take a look and her account is not listed in the PO...OK so I rebuild the secondary...restart the MTA and GWIA ...now I can see this user.
I send some more test emails and they bounce again...not good
I use telnet to connect to the GWIA and try sending a message and get the 550 no such recipient
Is there something I am missing here ?

I wouldn't have thought so. I would have thought your steps appropriate
and correct. FWIW. Did you recheck after the bounce to see if the user
was STILL in the gwia's domain?
    Hi
I have checked the domain with the GWIA and the user is shown in their PO after the MTA and GWIA restart.
I will try a proper bounce by offlining the cluster resource the MTA and GWIA are on and check again...
