"Diagnostic Policy Service"

My Diagnostic Policy Service will not stay on. I have gone into "Services;"Diag Service Host and D S Host Properties and have gotten Error:5 Access Denied...Unable to open WdiServiceHost.Paula

Hi,
Permission issue. Try the following methods:
1- Open Regedit.exe on the problem machine.
2- Navigate to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\WDI\Config
3- Right click on Config key and select permissions, click Add and select Locations and select Local computername in the list after entering the administrator credentials, Type "NT Service\DPS" without the double quotes, click on Check Names and select DPS
and click OK.
4- Now select Allow Read, and click on Advanced, select DPS and select Allow for Query Value, Set Value, Create Subkey, Enumerate Subkeys, Notify and make sure that "Apply to" is set to "This Key and Subkeys". Also make sure that Read control is already selected.

  • Problem found: The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running

Whenever I attempt to run network diagnostics Windows 7 Ultimate response with Problem
found: The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running. <o:p></o:p>
I usually find my own solution to the network problem. However, not to the inability to run
diagnostics. In addition, in my attempt to find a solution, the Diagnostic
Policy Service Properties has become corrupted. The run under this account information
    is not valid.
So I basically need the account and password for the service. In addition, once I have that info properly
inserted, I need a way to get the diagnostics to actually run.

    Hello,
The Windows Desktop Perfmon and Diagnostic tools forum is to discuss performance monitor (perfmon), resource monitor (resmon), and task manager, focusing on HOW-TO, Errors/Problems, and usage scenarios.
Since your post is off-topic, I am moving it to the
    off topic forum.

  • "Group Policy Service & Permission Problems" I Will Never Buy Microsoft Windows Computers Again..

I am trying to get some last bit of use out of my Worthless Microsoft Windows Software.. I have spent more time attempting to make this worthless  junk work, than I ever get using the computer for what it is designed for.. Both My Windows 7 Pro,
and my Windows 8.1 are the worst products Microsoft has come out with ever.. I started out using Punch Card Machines, in the 70's that worked better than the junk Microsoft is selling us today.. The last 13 computers I have purchased with Windows software
are all in the dumpster. Their tech support is worthless, and half the time you get sent from one phone number to another, and no one knows anything.. I have purchased two sets of software from Microsoft store that have turned out to be Non-Genuine, I paid
full price for, have receipts of sales, dates, validation key numbers, and still spend three days in a row trying to explain to the other end that my software they sold me is shit, and no one understands.. And on top of that will not give me a e-mail address
to send them a copy of the proof of purchase to them for my file, and to prove to them they are selling shit, and they will not  give me a  address to send them their problems plagued software..  I have three sets of software that i downloaded,
and had disk sent as backups that have bad validation keys, and Microsoft will not honer their sales, and will not give me keys that work..
If it dose finally work, I can not get the "Diagnostic Policy Service" to start, this online troubleshooting will not  work, never has worked  on windows 8, nor have I ever had any sound on the same computer, nor has my Windows Media
Player ever worked either.. Both Win 7 Pro, and Win 8.1 Group Policy will not let me download anything on the C-drive that can possibly repair what is wrong with the Crap at hand, Their my computers, but I have no permission to do a goddamn thing to repair
what is wrong with it,,I do not want to read another fucking article on tech shit, I want to know how to delete "Group Policy" from every machine I have, because its only purpose I see it to keep me from using my machine , and forcing me to have
to sit on hold and listen to those idiots on the other end just say its another 99 bucks to fix something that I have already given them 99 bucks several times before to fix nothing.. WTF, I was never a fan of Bill Gates, but today he looks like a genius compared
to who/what is working there today.. Dose this happen to everyone, or am I just jinxed? Can someone give me a patch or something besides another article to make this shit work..  Thanks, Barnstormer2790

Wouldn't think anyone wants to help you at all with that attitude - Microsoft products work just great for me.
perhaps you should look closer to home for the issues you have!! Im Out!!!!

  • Switched to external monitor lost access to Diagnostic Policy, Basic Filtering Engine, cannot print from interenet explorer

    Laptop running windows 7
I switched to an external monitor (broke the LCD) and lost all sorts of things
    1) Diagnostic Policy was not running, and could not be started via services.msc - I received "Access Denied" Error.
    Fixed with
    net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice
    net localgroup Administrators /add localservice
    2) Base Filtering Engine was not running, and could not be started via services.msc - I received "Access Denied" Error.
Still not running - tried all the usual suspects
    a) virus scan
    b) SFC
    c) registry entry looks fine
    d) adding "Everyone" with full access to the ControlSet/services/BFE registry key
    3) Cannot print from Internet Explorer
There are probably other issues .. I suspect there is a common underlying problem, but have no idea of where to look
    Thanks

I dropped the unit on the floor on 6/11 around 1PM, and then tried to turn it on.    I hooked the laptop up to an external monitor at 9:34PM.

  • Diagnostics policy service not running on Windows 7 home premium

I'm unable to connect to internet through wireless connectionsr . it says limited access to wi-fi router. When i try to fix this it says diagnostics policy service not running. Checked services.msc While the type is set up to automatic Unable to start the
service. I had similar problem with my LAN connection. After resetting my LAN connection i was able to connect to internet. Tried this on wifi as well but the issue remains.
Error code is 5: access denied

    Hi,
    Thanks for the post!
Go to your Device Manager and uninstall the network device, including the wireless network card, then restart the computer. Let the system automatically reinstall the driver for you. You can also manually update the network card driver to the latest one.
After that, check if you can connect to the internet.
For the Diagnostics policy service issue. please click Start, input regedit in the search box, press Enter to open your Registry Editor, navigate to the key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS\Parameters.
Right click this key, choose permission, click the user "Trustedinstaller", ensure the permission is set to "Full Control" and "Read". Then click OK to apply the change.
Restart the computer to check if this service is working now.

  • The Group Policy Client Side Extension Group Policy Shortcuts may have caused th e Group Policy Service to terminate unexpectedly.

    Hi all,
Having an issue with the shortcuts Group Policy extension applying to our Windows 7 machines. It was working until last Wednesday and since then users get a Group Policy Client service error when logging in.
We have narrowed it down to the shortcuts extension, if the extension is disabled then a user can log in, if enabled and empty then the following error comes up. With all the investigation we have done so far it seems as though something on the client is
    making this happen.
    We have –
    Copied the original policy
    Exported and imported the policy
    Deleted all the shortcuts
Deleted all the shortcuts and created a brand new shortcut
And the same thing happens. Only if you right click on the Shortcut Extension and select disable then the user can log in
When running Gpupdate /force we get the following error
The Group Policy Client Side Extension Group Policy Shortcuts may have caused the Group Policy Service to terminate unexpectedly. To prevent further failures inthe
Group Policy Service, this extension has been temporarily disabled until after the next system restart. Group Policy settings managed by this extension may no
longer be enforced until the system is restarted. The vendor of this extension should be contacted if this issue recurs.

Has anyone come across this before?
    Thanks

    Hi Dejul,
How is the issue going? Does this issue happen to all Windows 7 clients? I am not sure this can be helpful but we can give it a try to install the following hotfix.
Some Group Policy preferences are not applied successfully on computers that are running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979731
Besides, please make sure that our clients are patched or updated to the latest.

  • Group Policy Service Access denied

    Hi,
i had a working Azure RemoteApp deployment with custom image.
From one day to another the users couldn't login any more with the attached Error Message (German), saying the access is denied because of an error logging in at the Group Policy Client Service.
That's the second time I get this error in an RemoteApp deployment which was working for weeks before.
I hope somebody has a quick answer as I have a customer presentation tomorow on this system.
    Thanks
    Bernd

Hi Bernd, if you're getting an error message like that which isn't very useful then you'll need to seek assistance from Azure Support (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/plans/).
They have a process for seeing what's going on in the backend of our service for your Azure subscription and escalating to the right people as needed. This will both get you unblocked and help us determine where we might have bugs or can at least provide better
error messages.  That said, given you're looking for a quick fix, it looks like there are a bunch of suggestions online for how to fix this error message (e.g.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/group-policy-client-service-failed-the-logon-help/20fb861a-49dd-4859-b903-492e65b43d52).  My best guess based on the limited info is that your domain controller is intermittently
unavailable or you've customized something in the default profile of your template image which is causing issues. Apologies for the inconvenience.

  • How to enable SSL for policy service?

    Hi all,
My application is using SunONE's C API to communicate with the Identity Server.
In order to enable SSL, I have changed the following lines in amconfig.properties:
    com.sun.am.namingURL = https://id01.core.development.net:443/amserver/namingservice
    com.sun.am.policy.am.loginURL = https://id01.core.development.net:443/amserver/UI/Login
    com.sun.am.policy.am.library.loginURL = https://id01.core.development.net:443/amserver/UI/Login
After operating these changes, everything continued to work fine...but then, I checked with a network sniffer what data is being sent to IS:
    - The login and naming data were over SSL
    - Policy and session items were plain HTTP
    My questions are:
    1. How to enable SSL for policy evaluation requests?
    2. How to enable SSL for sessionservice requests?
    3. What are the changes required on the server/client?
    Many thanks,
    Dan

There might a better different forum for this question.

  • Security IT Policy Services, what is BBFS1 [GTALKNA1] mean? It does not belong there and I have no idea how it got there.

My husband and I both have the Blackberry Style 9670, his phone shows under Security ==> Securuity Status Information (view IT Policy) ==> BBFS1 [GTALKNA1]   HOW DID IT GET THERE?
This is a personal phone and does not belong to a company - who put it there without permission?

  • Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) is slow. Which start-up services should run?

I recently had to use system restore and make a few changes to get my system running again.  Ooops. I now have a very slow computer whereas it was working fine before.  I haven't recently installed any new software or hardware and suspect that some essential start-up services may have been disabled, stopped or set to manual while some other unused services may have been set to start, automatic or automatic (delayed).
Can someone please direct me to another thread (if available) or list which start-up services should be in which state?
    Thank you!
    System details:
     ~ HP IQ818A
     ~ Windows Vista Home Premium
      ~ Service Pack 1
     ~ 4GB RAM
     ~ 64-bit
     ~ avast! Anti-virus is active

    Sydney,
I don't have an IQ818 at the moment, all I have is an IQ506T - from last fall.  I had just done a recovery of it.
Note:  1) I did choose to NOT perform automatic updates, 2) I haven't yet configured Norton, and 3) I haven't turned off TouchSmart from running in the background.
This isn't exactly your system, but it would be somewhat close.  Your safest bet would be to recover and start over, but here goes with the services listings.  Please note its comma delimited - you can look at it better with something like Excel, Works or Open Office.
    Good luck on this.

  • Missing boot events on the Diagnostic performance operational log (event-id 100)

I noticed that event (100) is not always reported or not reported at all on several machines and I would like to understand how can I force reporting it.
In addition I would appreciate if you can explain regarding the keys under:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics\Performance\Boot]
Things I've already tested on win7:
    1. Verified that the diagnostic performance > operational log is enabled
    2. Services: ‘Diagnostic Policy Service’ (auto) and ‘Diagnostic service host’ (manual) were running
    3. Verified that GPO is not disabled for:
    - Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Troubleshooting
    - Diagnostics\Windows Boot Performance Diagnostics Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Troubleshooting and Diagnostics\Diagnostics: Configuration scenario executing level
    Thanks,

    For keys under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics\Performance\Boot]
Please take a look of discussions in this link(reply posted by David J)
Diagnostics-Performance log Event 100 - Critical, Error, or Warning - when and why?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/48005f5d-5f66-439a-af51-3a2ebb894e31/diagnosticsperformance-log-event-100-critical-error-or-warning-when-and-why?forum=w7itproperf
My understanding to this issue—“event (100) is not always reported or not reported at all on several machines”
is that : this kind event log occurs when an time parameter during the boot process reaches a threshold in the registry key, then a warning, critical or error message will appear in the event viewer. If it doesn’t reach the threshold, then there will be
    no report.

  • Wife's Computer Keeps Periodically Rebooting Plus Can't Install HP Print Drivers

    Motherboard: Gateway, SX2370
Antivirus: Norton Internet Security, Updated and Enabled
First, please excuse me if I've posted in the wrong forum and hopefully someone will direct me to the right one. I also apologize for the length of this but I've spent the last 5 days dealing with HP support and getting help from TechGuy.org. HP hasn't been
particularly helpful. Through TechGuy.org, we've eliminated the possibility that the problem I'm about to describe is related to a virus or malware.
As this is my wife's computer, I have no idea when this started happening, but at random intervals the computer would sometimes display the message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save
your work." Sometimes this error code accompanies the message "Error 1722 RPC Server is unavailable". Other times there is no warning and the system just reboots. At the same time, my wife began having problems with our HP Photosmart C410A printer.
In checking I saw that there was a new driver. When I attempted to install just the basic driver, the installation would stop and indicate that the Windows Firewall must be running. I disabled all of Norton Internet Services setting an tried to activate the
firewall. I would then get this error message: "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x800706d9".
HP suggested I uninstall Norton Internet Security, use the HP Driver Uninstall Utility and try a reinstallation using their complete software package while activation the Windows Firewall. I could get the firewall activated nor could I get the drivers installed.
I then removed all the HP software using their installer. However there still seems to be bits "floating" about. I reinstalled NIS.
TechGuy.org suggested that there might be a BIOS issue and there are two updates available. They also suggested I may have to wipe the drive and do a clean reinstallation of Windows 7. That just didn't sound right.
In checking the Event Viewer the following error show up repeatedly at random times, which also correspond, usually, with a reboot. Here is a partial copy of the log:

    Hi Doc,
Yes you need to do a firmware driver update.
Here is the KB article regarding Event ID 12:
How to troubleshoot Event ID 12 with source Microsoft-Windows-HAL
    Follow the user action part.
You may follow the article below to check the update driver:
Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly
    For Event ID 7034, check:
    Event ID 7034: Service Terminated
Another thing is please check Windows Update settings, make sure you have Windows stay up-to-date.
Besides, for customer support, please ask in the forum below:

  • Windows Firewall and Windows Update (Win 8.1)

Since Windows Vista I have always been using the Windows Firewall with "blocked outgoing traffic". As this is not the default setting, some basic windows services seem not to be included as firewall rules on the outgoing side.
My Problem is with the Windows Update:
On Windows Vista and 7 it was sufficient to create a rule for "wuauserv".
On Windows 8.1 however this seems not to be enough. The UI gives me error code 80240438 and the WindowsUpdate.log shows the following lines:
2014-06-14    20:11:08:150     952    538    IdleTmr    WU operation (CAgentProtocolTalker::SyncUpdates_WithRecover) started; operation # 2044; does use network; is at background

2014-06-14    20:11:08:151     952    538    WS    WARNING: Der Remoteendpunkt konnte nicht erreicht werden.
(.... and a lot of similar WARNING lines)
2014-06-14    20:11:12:921     952    538    IdleTmr    WU operation (CAgentProtocolTalker::SyncUpdates_WithRecover, operation # 2044) stopped; does use network; is at background
    priority
If I create a rule for the whole svchost.exe, the update works fine. Giving all services internet access is however not an option for me. Could you please tell me through which service(s) except wuauserv Windows Update performs its network activities?

    Windows 8 upgraded to 8.1 on a Gateway SX2370.  Purchased Sep. 2013.
As of Dec. 28, 2014 I have not gotten ANY windows defender updates and windows update has not been working at all. When I go to my start screen and type "update" Windows update still shows in the list, only now when I click on it, it brings
up a blank window and can only be closed by right clicking the tab on the taskbar. I cannot max or minimize the window either.
Up until Dec. 28th it was working perfectly, notifying me when updates were available, almost everyday for windows defender.
I have tried everything I could find to fix this, even a complete restore, with recovery media made for Win 8.1 and Win 8. Still no windows updates, of anything. To top it off as of Jan. 22, 2015 the Diagnostic Policy Service has stopped and I am denied
access when I try restarting it.
Windows XP was great until MS stopped support. Vista sucked, near as bad as Millenium or 2000. I never tried windows 7 instead going for windows 8, being the most recent version when I could afford a new PC. Adapting to win 8-8.1 was no easy task.
I'm not a tech guru, but I've owned & used windows from Dos 6.0, '95, '98, '98SE, Millenium, XP, XP home & Pro (sp1-2 & 3) and still have the installation/restore CDs for all of them. Even taught myself how to write the recovery
console directly from the hard drive of XP, OEM or full MS versions without using the CDs & now I'm using Windows 8 - 8.1. Getting rid of the recovery console was a BIG mistake in my opinion.
At one time I had a multi-boot system of win.95, 98, 98SE, Mill., XP home sp2 and XP Pro sp3 on a 1.5 TB self built system. Microsoft told me it was impossible, until I allowed two tech support reps remote access for 5 min.. Which also lead to me being
blocked from most MS websites &?suggestions windows forums for 3 years.
But so far, this failure of windows updates and the Diagnostic policy Service in Windows 8.1 has got me stumped. Can ANYONE give me a quick simple way to correct this? Please?
Thanks for reading this and any help or suggestions anyone has to offer. GOD bless you all and my thanks to every military person, their families and veterans for my freedom.

  • Cannot Install Driver

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: AMD A8-3820 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, AMD64 Family 18 Model 1 Stepping 0

Antivirus: Norton Internet Security, Updated and Enabled
Apparently as a result of a Windows update, my wife's computer, which is connected to our printer through an ethernet connection via our Linksys E3000 router, lost that connection. As the driver was out of date anyway, I downloaded just the updated driver and attempted to install it after making sure all traces of the old version were removed using the HP uninstaller.
I have tried now, inummerable times to install the driver. I either get the the point wher the install asks what type of connection I have and when it shows via ethernet I get an error message about the MpsSvc (Windows 7 firewall) being stopped or the install fails generating a message that says it's missing a setupfile. I have tried disabling the Norton Internet Security firewall and AV and still the install fails. I have tried activating the Windows Firewall, via the Task Manager (with the NIS Firewall off) to no avail.
One of the solutions I found on this forum from an HP Expert was to use the full software package to install the driver. Even though I do NOT want all the programs that come bundled with it (there used to be the option of choosing what you wanted but no longer) I tried that. I again got the whole firewall scenario message and then had to uninstall all the programs that I didn't want in the first place.
There are two ther computers in the house connected wirelessly to the printer and both work fine. I even tried the wireless route with this computer to no avail.
I know I am not the only one encounter this issue as I seen other postings but I've yet to see a solution that works. I'm trying not to get both frustrated and angry but this should be that difficult a problem to resolve. Prior to both the Windows update and the driver update from HP, this computer worked fine with this printer. There is a conflict between HP's software and Windows 7. Please give me a solution that actually works.

This did not help at all. I've run a level 4 uninstall and tried both just the driver and whole package and the process halts stating that Windows Firewall must be running. I am also finding that the level 4 uninstall did not remove all traces of HP printer related programs (the C410A is the only HP device connected to this system BTW)
I have completely uninstalled Norton Internet Security and tried to activate the Windows Firewall without success. After reinstalling NIS, I consulted with a site that deals with malware issues. After several tests, they could not find any traces of rootkits, viruses or malware. So, that is not the issue.
When I tried to activate the Windows Firewall, I get the following error notice, "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error Code 0x800706d9". I continue to get this message at random intervals, "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save your work". Sometimes I also get this error message as well, "Error 1722 RPC Server is unavailable."
In checking the event log I found the following errors listed, some corresponding to spontainious reboots.

This is all somehow related to the printer issue as I still cannot install the driver to get it to work properly.
