Diagnostic report folder empty

My imac keeps crashing and the console folder for diagnostic reports is empty.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling Snow Leopard?
Thanks

the first time I looked for it, I went to the library map on my macintosh harddrive -> logs -> diagnostic reports, this one was empty
the next time I looked for it in the DiagnosticReports map in my personal user library and there they were.
so there are two ways your crash reports can be stored:
/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

  • Where are the diagnostic reports, or why aren't there any?

    Hello
I understand that under mavericks, diagnostic reports are supposed to be found either in
    /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ (System Diagnostic Reports),
    or in
    ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports (User Diagnostic Reports).
Unfortunately, even after a number of crashes, they aren't. While in my case, the system DiagnosticReports folder exists, but contains nothing but powerstats, in the user library, not even the folder is there.
So, either they are elsewhere, or they aren't being generated. In the first case, my question would be: Where are the diagnostic reports? In the latter, it would be: Why aren't there any (despite the system crashes)?
(A similar question is to be found here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/24773940#24773940 , but ended with an open question. I'm starting a new thread, because this old one is marked as answered.)
    Thanks a lot.

If there are no issues, no logs are produced.

Diagnostic and usage reports may include the following information:
Details about application or system not responding, application unexpectedly quitting, or kernel panics
Information about events on your computer (for example, whether a certain function, such as waking your computer, was successful or not)
Usage information (for example, data about how you use Apple and third-party software, hardware, and services)

  • [3.0.04] Delete user defined report folder

    Hello Forum,
a few days ago, I got a new computer and exported my user defined reports from the old installation. After importing these into the new installation, all reports were put into an additional subfolder. Since I'm using german localization, the reports were put into "Benutzerdefinierte Berichte/Benutzerdefinierte Berichte". I could move them one folder up by cut and paste, but now I would like to delete the empty subfolder, but I don't have any menu options to do so.
Is there any way to get rid of that subfolder?
    Many thanks in advance,
    dhalek

    Hi Binom,
Correct. In fact similar behavior reported in earlier posts such as...
Bug 2.1: Report folders are read only
1.5.5 Cannot add user defined report to folder
...resulted in the logging of an internal bug:
Bug 9231534 - FORUM:USER DEFINED REPORT FOLDER MISSING ACTIONS IN NON ENGLISH LOCALES
I updated it with a reference to this forum thread in order to give it a bump.
    Thanks,

  • Slow iMac (Diagnostic Report Attached)

    Hi all,
I wondered if someone could please decipher my diagnostic report to see if there are any pointers on fixing my recently slowed down Mac?  I see the words 'crashed' and 'excessive' appearing quite a lot and my spidey-senses tell me that this is not a good thing!
    All help greatly appreciated.

ANNOYING FEATURE: Reopen Windows When Logging Back In
Since it's pointless, I suggest you back up all data, then remove it as directed at the bottom of that page. Then see below.
    A.
Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock all your user files, reset their ownership, and remove their access-control lists. If you've set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Back up all data.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
    B.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
From the application's menu bar, select
    File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.
    C.
The Finder may be bogged down by too many items on the Desktop. Move the items to another folder.

  • FDM Reports publishing empty contents

    Hi All,
We upgraded FDM from 9 to 11.1.2.1 approximately two years back.
The testing was not conducted as the hole and later the issues are raising, Now the problem is No Reports are publishing with contents. Means report window opens with empty content. An additional information that I am able to see the RPX files in the report folder in the installed path. So they migrated the report artifacts also.
Please suggest me how to debug this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    KR

First of all, if they are all doing it, I'd be suspect that some type of configuration item is to blame. What happens if you make a new report?
To help narrow this down, here's what I'd do...
#1 - Go to Server and open Workbench client
    #2 - Login / Open App
#3 - In the window pane on the left that Shows Adapters, Scripts, and Reports, click on Reports.
#4 - Find one of the reports in question
#5 - Double click on report which should open the Report Properties window
#6 - Click on the SQL Statement tab
#7 - Click on the Zoom button
#8 - Click on the Preview Data button
If no data here, there is EITHER some form of a communication issue between FDM/Reports and database. or there's no data....
    Then I'd .....
#1 - Copy the SQL Statement
#2 - Connect to SQL Server and execute query against database to see if data is returned.
If data is found, there is a communication issue (physical or user access to tables) between FDM and your database, review database settings to confirm that settings look correct on FDM And confirm in the database that the user being used has access to the tables
    being referenced...
If you did get data from the query, then I'd look more carefully at the report itself.
#1 - In reports panel on the left, right click on the report you are investigating and Design Report
#2 - Verify the report open in the designer correctly.
#3 - At the top of the report area are two tabs, Design and Preview. Click on Preview and it will then generate a report. Verify if this is working.
Depending on how that turns out, you might get more clues as to where to look next.

  • Console app diagnostic reports .crash drop down menu

    Console app
Diagnostic Reports, either User or System having a crash report
Select one of the crash reports
Ctrl-Click to get the drop down menu
    Click Mail
    I observe nothing happening
    What is suppose to happen?

Have you checked Mail > Window menu? I've found sometimes Mail does not bring the new message to the foremost window.
Also, you might try the same in Safe Mode and see if that works.
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and disable any third party login items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours.

  • Help! MASSIVE MacbookPro ISSUES with all mac softwares - diagnostic report incl.

    Hello all,
I have posted something almost 1 year ago but never got a reply.. The issues became so bad lately that even checking emails becomes a performance (for my nerves..)
My computer is a Macbookpro from mid-2012 OSX 10.8.5
bought in 2013, in france (azerty keyboard)
(NOTE: I'm french, so some of my terms might be a translation of the error messages i get in my descriptions)
The 2 browsers I'm using (ideally in parallel) are Safari & Chrome, I have their latest versions for both ot them
The programs i'm mostly using are : those 2 browsers, textedit, itunes, sometimes preview and rarely iphoto (but nowadays, only safari and textedit, as every click already takes up to 40sec...)
Here are the issues I'm experiencing daily:
    - Any click, any command takes a min. of 5sec to be fullfiled - sometimes up to 30sec - be it wanting to switch from one progr to another or turning the volume up/down via the keyboard)
    - Rainbow ball spinning at almost every click i make..
    - When i open a finder window, it takes min. a few seconds, up to 10sec for its content to appear
    - If 2 finder windws are open, sometimes clicking on one of them does not put in the front (the other window remains, overlapping the one i'm selecting though)
    - same thing happens with a finder window and itunes
    - Pages on ANY browser take sometimes up to 40 sec to load
    - Chrome gives me all the time the message that "the pages so and so won't respond" and that i can either "wait" or "close" those windows.. waiting moslty won't help.. - i have to quit the program.. wich mosly doesn't work.. so i try to force quit..which also sometimes doesn't work..or only after several minutes...
    - When opening a progr. in the dock bar, the prog icon keeps bouncing over and over (takes between 15sec-1mn for the program to open, nomatter which one)
    - Lately, when reopening Chrome, some tabs are missing : not being retaured, they are just ..gone.
    In SAFARI:
    - as soon as not ON a tab left open on browser, the page is first completely WHITE (takes up to 30sec for content to appear)
    - Safari "force reloads" all page and tabs open several times a day, lately directly after restarting the browser
    - After force reloading, the page happen to be blank, and/or no address in the url bar : i have to click the "back" arrow, in order to make the url reappear,
-..but sometimes even this isn't possible, though the name of the page is still showing on the tab window
    - After a force reload, pages such as youtube display as a simple text content - have to REload for the page to display properly
    - Computer often freezes sometimes completely,
    .. and the mouse disappears
.. sometimes so hard (rainbow ball spinning non stop) that i can't force quit, not even shut down properly (exit through the "physical" start button as only chance)
    - Computer sometimes freezes but by making a restart on his own : screen becomes blue, grey, everything disappears, big start button symbol appears on screen with message in several languages and computer restarts on his own..
    - Dock/program bar sometimes won't show up.. all i can do is restart the computer
    - Force-Quitting programs can take up to 2 to 10 min until the force quit window appears...
    - Computer generates aliases or copies (?) of documents, that can't be open anyway, adding things in the name of doc such as "NAME.rtf.sb-0352fd77-9bU6Yb"
    - Bottom line : Mac softwares (and NO other!) crash or freeze on regular basis (such as : textedit, safari, iphoto,  preview etc.), they mostly show not to be responding in the force quit window
...But sometimes, one of these programs won't respond BUT no sign of it in the force quit window
    - Dashboard always takes 10 to 40 sec to make information/content appear
    ISSUES that occured ONCE lately:
    - was looking for files via the search field of the finder, it worked normally until it became all blank and nothing, not a single file would show - had to restart computer
    - could not make a copy-paste anymore from one tab to my tab with gmail account - had to restart computer.
Desperately trying to improve if not solve those problems I happen to do more and more often those things:
    onyx automation and clean
erasing cache in chrome and safari
checking the disk with utility disk (always says it's all fine!)
repairing the "rights" via utility disk progr.
(if i happen do it every day : i happen to have an endless list each time of repaired issues)
I also start the computer with cmd+alt+p+r.. never changed anyhting
I recently did the SMC restart.. didn't change a thing
    I'm desperate !
Bottom line : those problems occur ever since 2 months after i bought this computer (new!), giving it for repair 3 times and deinstalling + reinstalling the whole system 5 TIMES NEVER changed anything.. Even partitioning the disk, by following someones advice didn't change anything.. As a matter of a fact, the problems are recurrent and only becoming worse and worse...
Last but not least, it's been 2 months now that the trackpad is "dead"..i can't press it anymore and have to use the "finger tip" mode or whatever it's called..
Thank you for taking the time to read, I'd be super grateful for any help!

Understood. But if I really want the iCloud contacts to synchronize with the contacts "On My Mac", do I have to manually copy and paste (or drag) in the Contacts application? Is this really the definition of "synchronization" ?
Again. The 'On My Mac' account is a local account, it's on your Mac (hence the name) but not anywhere else.
You may be trying to sync it to iCloud but you will fail, put the contacts where they need to be, if you want them distributed by iCloud they will need to be in the iCloud account.
One simple way to move them is to export the On My Mac account to a vcard file and then import the vcard file into the iCloud account (do all this in Contacts, not the website)

Additionally - will the iCloud contacts remain visibile on the computer when a web connection is unavailable? And - if so - what is the function of "On My Mac" contacts. (Just a bit confused over the concept, I suppose...)
Yes to the first question and as for the second, if you didn't have iCloud where would you keep your contacts?

  • My Menu - Add a Query Print Layout to the Report Folder

This is a newb question.  I can easily add a Query or form or most anything else to the Folders under My Menus ... But how can I add a specific Print Query Layout to the Reports folder un My Menu?
I know it is simple but I can not find the steps in the documentation
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Dana

    Kapil
I tried that, but it adds the Query not the QPLD to the menu.
I had figured that I could go the the QPLD memu and add the Report, but that adds the Query Print Layout Menu with all the reports.
I feel like I am missing something very obvious here!!!
    Thanks for your quick response!!

  • "print quality diagnostic report"

I have a HP Deskjet 3520 All-in-one printer and I just went to the "HP Deskjet 3520 series toolbox". Under the first tab (Device Services) is the button "Print Quality Diagnostics Page". I then clicked on that button and got the "Print Quality Diagnostic Report".
However i can not find anything that tells me what all the diagnostics mean.
attached is the document that I am talking about.
    Questions:
    1.   The Magenta shows lines in the top of the lines on the top of the report but these go away at the bottom. Do I need to run a clean head cycle or seeing as that cartridge is low on ink just replace it?
    2.   In the bars of solid colors the light yellow (the bottom bar) has a white streak through it. Again I know it is low on ink. Is the issue there the ink level or does the head need cleaning?
    3.   Below those bars are numbered items about the printer but what does PHA mean? (Print Head Assembly?)
    4.   Number 22 in that list is PHA Drops. What does that mean?
Does anyone know where I can go to get answers to these questions?
Any and all help is appreciated.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite is my program folder empty

after upgrading to Yosemite is my program folder empty, while the programs are saved on my PC. But they are not discoverable in a folder. Who recognizes this problem and can help me?

If by program folder you are referring to the Applications folder, it should not be unless something went wrong with the upgrade.
You can restore it from your backup you made prior to the upgrade.

  • Upon running Norton Security Suite Diagnostic Report on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC on a Windows 7 Home Premium platform, it shows 2 (hidden) devices not working: Antilog32, and AODDriver4.1--Code 24.

On the General tab for device status it says: "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" The only option available when I click
on properties of both devices is Start. When I click on Start for Antilog32, this message shows: "The system encountered the following error when it attempted to start the service: The system cannot find the file specified." For AODDriver4.1, the
message when you click Start on Driver tab is: "The system encountered the following error when it attempted to start the service: The system cannot find the path specified." I do not know how to proceed or
how to fix this, or where to find a solution. Please help!

    Hello pds48478480,
Do you mean you got the error code 24 in Norton Security Suite Diagnostic Report?
Please share us a screenshot for better analyzation.
Please take a look at the following thread about the AODDriver4.3.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-performance/the-aoddriver43-service-failed-to-start-due-to-the/cb6b7f03-922b-4b82-972f-e92ef9919964
AODDriver 4.3 is used by AMD OverDrive which tune parameters to help system stability, optimize performance, and control cooling/acoustic characteristics.
With the issue description it seems the driver and the service is either stopped or not working correctly.
Refer to the link below and install the latest version of AMD OverDrive.

  • Where to place the oracle 10g forms and reports folder in Linux server

    Hi....
Currently iam migrating a module to oracle 10g.
All my modules which consists of form folders and report folders are inside a
folder called PROJECT and placed in C:\ in windows server.
    So when i want to call a form or report i have used path as 'C:\PROJECT\module_name\form_name.fmx';
Now my client wants his project to be used in LINUX based server.
Now i want to know where i have to place my Project's form folder and reports folder
and how i have to call them...
    thanx in advance

Can you say how can i call reports as u said hardcoding the path while calling report is not a good practice.I agree with Dhiraj Madan, hardcoding paths is a very bad idea, your application becomes non-portable.
For FORMS_PATH you can use default.env, as already said (or <your envfile>.env, if any).
The same can be done for REPORTS_PATH, by using reports.sh script, in $ORACLE_HOME/bin.

  • I generate file (PDF, HTML, etc) the report is empty but I run in paper

    Hi
    I use oracle Report10g
When I generate file (PDF, HTML, etc) the report is empty but I run in paper design show data, the report in the paper design show many pages, when generate file show only the information of the margin in the main seccion and the body is empty,
    Thanks

Thanks Daniel for pointing that out.  Though you answer is helpful but I am not sure if that is what I would want to do.
The link you provide for csv says "For each report there's an _report.xdo file that contains the XML structure of the report... "   It suggests I modify the .xdo file for each report.  I currently have 16 reports.
Does it mean I modify the .xdo file for all 16  and what happens if someone creates a 17th report ?
Also, what if I run the same report using different input parameters will that change the xml structure for the report  and therefore will need me to modify the .xdo again ? (I think it should not change the xml structure so the answer should be "NO" to that, unless I change the structure of the report).
Finally, the link you provide says after doing what it suggest  "Now log back into BI publisher and select the report. You should now be able to see that CSV is now an option."
CSV should be an option where ? on what screen/page ?  Maybe PDF is already an option for me that I cant see because I do not know where that option is.
I was hoping there would be something I could do on the xdo_metadata sheet (in the data constraints section or elsewhere) OR in BI Publisher itself as some property of the report.
I will try out what you suggest any ways.

  • Access to the reports folder using ftp

    Hello,
I'd like to access to the reports folder on the NCS using a ftp software (filezilla ftp client 3.3.3). This folder is located at '
/localdisk/ftp/reports/' on the virtual machine. I also created a ftp user using the command line with 'ncs password ftpuser ftpncs password *******'.
But the remote connection still doesn't work. Here is what I have on the log output of my ftp software:
Server:        220 Service ready for new user
    Command:     USER ftpncs
Answer:          331 User name okay, need password for ftpncs
    Command;     PASS ******
    Answer:          530 Access Denied
Error:               Critical error cannot connect to the server
Maybe I'm incorrect somewhere in my configuration. Does someone have an idea?
    Many thanks for your help

    Maybe you´re hitting this Bug:
    CSCtw98787
The ncs password ftpuser CLI command should enforce ftp-user parameter
Symptom: The ncs password ftpuser command allows the username input to be anything and will accept that input without error:
snx1-ncs-1/opsadmin#  ncs password ftpuser testacct password Hello123  Initializing...   Updating FTP password.  This may take a few minutes...  Successfully  updated location ftp user    But then attempt to login with that  information, you get this:    ftp snx1-ncs-1  Connected to  snx1-ncs-1.cisco.com.  220 Service ready for new user  User  (snx1-ncs-1.cisco.com:(none)): testacct  331 User name okay, need  password for testacct  Password:  530 Access denied  Connection closed  by remote host.
Conditions: ncs cli command, seen in versions 1.0.1.4, 1.0.2.28 and 1.0.2.29
Workaround: Must use the ncs passowrd ftpuser  ftp-user password syntax to update the ftp-user  account. While other input for username is allowed, it has no effect.
