Diagnostics say no iPod found...Why?
iPod Touch version 4.2.1 will not come up on iTunes. Diagnostics under Ports states 'no iPod, iPhone or iPad found'. I have rebooted and reset the Touch. I have used different cords and different computers with the same nonresults. It charges fine on an AC charger. Both computers and iTunes have no problem seeing my iPad or another Touch. Anybody have any ideas that would make it a non-horrible, non-expensive problem? Thanks.
- Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Look at the dock connector. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.
- You can try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and then try restoring it. However, if not successful you may not have a working iPod unless this program can get the iPod out of recovery mode.

IPod does not show in iTunes. Diagnostics states "No iPod found"
Version of ITunes ITunes 7.5.0.20
IPod version 5th Generation iPod (80GB)
Version of Windows: Vista Home Premium
I was bought a 5G iPod yesterday as a present. I connected it up and everything went swimmingly. It synchronised and downloaded the entire contents of my iTunes library (at the time just 15GB or so of music taken from CD's). Today I have downloaded a few podcasts etc (Just 185MB). I connected my iPod and it says connecting on the iPod follwed by synchronising then connected again, but the iPod will not show up in the left hand panel of iTunes. It shows as drive P: in my computer, but properties show it as having no data. Help Diagnostics show "No iPod found". I disconnected the iPod properly when I disconnected yesterday so that shouldn't have caused a problem. I've gone in and unistalled/reinstalled iTunes, I've unistalled/resintalled the iPod driver, nothing seems to work. What next please clever people out there? Very frustrated and narked off!also for sum reason my comp wont let me dowload an ipod updater so im stil at 1.1 and the same thing with itunes

I purchased an ipod shuffle (5th generation I think). It is recognized by the computer and recognized by itunes but will not sync with itunes. Ran diagnostics and all passed but when it got to the sync test, it says "ipod touch, iphone, or ipad found". When I put on earphones, it tells me to sync with itunes. But it will not. What a person to do?
Hi jarrinjack,

After the latest iTunes update neither of my iPods are recognized by iTunes, so I am unable to sync. When I run diagnostics it says no device connected. My laptop sees my iPod so I know it is connected. I have tried all of the recommended iTunes fixes and none work. I tried deleting and reinstalling both an older version and the newest version. The older version would not reconize my music libray. Any thouhts?
I tried deleting and reinstalling both an older version and the newest version.
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Have new computer, says no ipod found??
On my old computer, my ipod randomly stopped showing up in itunes. The computer was not very good so i authorized my laptop and tried plugging it in but still nothing happens. My ipod works and when i plug it in it starts charging, but nothing comes up. I have had to transfer computers before and usually when you plug in something comes up that says "are you sure you want to replace this library?" but that is not happening this time. I dont know what to do, do i need a new ipod?
See if there's any help here.

Need help? Some of my Ipods are not recognized by Itunes with my Windows 8 PC. (Ipod Nano 4th gen and Ipod Nano 6th gen), but on my Windows 7 PC, they work fine. My Ipod 3rd gen and Ipod shuffle work both on Windows 8 and 7 PC's. On the non-working Ipods, the Device sync test says "No device found". Already performed all of the Ipod device troubleshooting including reload Itunes, stop start Ipod device, changed drive letter...
any help is appreciated. Chris4sailHello there, chris4sail.

iPod nano 6th generation, syncing with audiobooks does not work now, had been working. Sync test says: No iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad found. Connectivity test OK, no physical problems, iTunes shows the iPod. Any clues what to do?
Hmm.. Thank you for the response.
Have you tried using the iPod with another user account or computer, to help narrow down whether the problem lies with the computer, account, or the iPod itself?
Maybe try reformatting it, using the tools provided by Windows. Instructions on how to reformat your iPod can be found in this article.

Hello! I am trying to sync my iPhone 4 to my iTunes. My phone is connected to my computer, (was able to import pics) but I cannot manage my apps or music in iTunes. I ran diagnostics and it says 'no iPhone found'. It then takes me to Apple Support that says:
The device cannot be restored in iTunes.
An exclamation point, question mark, plug symbol, or "X" appears next to the device's entry in Device Manager.
During an update or restore, the device may no longer be recognized by iTunes
HELP!Hello, Shandey.

With the symptoms you described, try the step in the article below. See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode and If you see two "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" entries with exclamation marks on them. Then select the appropriate operating system that you are using.

Tried resetting the ipod and its enabled to be used as hard disk on itunes.
I assume you mean the "Enable Disk Use" option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?

When I connect my iPod Touch by USB to my MacBook with iTunes open, iTunes automatically starts syncing, as it should. When it gets to Step 3 of 5 it says "Determining tracks to sync," and then just as the status message changes the sync stops. An error icon appears in the sidebar next to my iPod. When I click the icon a message box comes up that says, "The iPod [name] cannot be synced because it cannot be found."
Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?
