Diagonal (step-like) line in itunes video

when i am playing a video in itunes, regardles of the content, whenever a fast action scene (a change in camera angle for that matter) comes around, i will get a semi-transparant diagonal line that juts unevenly across the screen. it is not screen beacause it does it on my computer monitor and tv. it there a fix to this or is it just a common problem in the format itunes uses. unless it is my video card which i dont think it is cause it doesnt do it for any other application.

  • White line in iTunes Video Full Screen mode

Since my last FW update I do always see a white horizontal line (top of screen) when playing a video in iTunes or Youtube in Full Screen Mode. Does anybody has experienced the same?

Well, I found something interesting. If i go to any buy/rental trailers it plays in full mode. Only above white screen happens when I go to Theatrical Trailers, for example, go to new Die Hard and try to play any trailer and see if it plays for you in full mode.

  • Playing iTunes videos to a personal DVD player

I'd like to play iTunes videos on my DVD player. I copied them on to a USB, then tried to play them on the DVD player. But they show up as "MPEG4" files and a red circle with a line through it appears. Guess that means it's a No Go. Any suggestions? Advice? Help? Thanks.

Well, I wondered...I tried playing the videos off the USB while it was plugged into my computer, and the video file in iTunes opened. Does that make sense to you? Yes, they do play on my iPod, but I hear you telling me I am NOT going to be able to play them on the DVD player. I also tried burning them onto a DVD disc, but that didn't work either.

You can definitely do this with PowerShell. (I actually do it with a feature of SolarWinds Patch Manager which does it via an API call.)

  • How do I create video files in M4V format just like iTunes video clips?

    Hello everyone,
I have bought many video clips from iTunes which I like to play when I have invited guests.
Now, as you know, some video clips are not available on iTunes. I do have some music DVDs though and would like to add some video clips from the DVDs to my iTunes library. I converted them to the M4V format. However, the format still seems to be different from the format that iTunes uses for its music video clips. Because when I add a video bought from the iTunes store AND one of my own videos in a playlist, iTunes tells me that it is not usual to mix videos and music in the same playlist.
Does anyone have a suggestion how I can create the same format for the videos I get from my DVDs, so that I can mix them in the same playlist together?
    Thanks for your help!

Umm... has anyone pondered a situation for a days if not weeks on end before mustering up the courage to ask for help and then found the solution minutes after asking? Yeah, this is one of those occasions. Weird.
In my defense, the user interface seems a bit obtuse. When you click "Playlists" and then "Create Playlist" at the bottom of the screen you then must click "Dates, "Folders", or "All Videos" to search for videos. The "obtusity" is that it didn't seem intuitive to me that I then had to search in those other headings after I selected to create a playlist. I assumed that the "Create a Playlist" window that then popped up would include all videos in the watched folders. When you see a video you will find that there is a green circle with a plus sign on the upper right corner. Clicking that will add it to the playlist that you are creating. When you're satisfied with the playlist, give it a name and then save it.
    *sigh*

  • Faulty iTunes Video Playback

    Dear All,
I’ve unfortunately encountered a problem with iTunes video playback after installing iTunes 10 (and now iTunes 10.1) on my new Dell computer. The computer has hardware which should run iTunes with no problems (dedicated video card, 4 GB ram and a nice screen), and has Windows 7 installed, with the newest BOIS (Dell Studio XPS 16).
My iTunes video though is faulty. TV Shows bought from iTunes run in a way that’s halting and really choppy. No other video plays this way on the computer, just in iTunes. And its much more exaggerated when the video is stretched to full screen or made larger in any way. Its unnoticeable if I make the video the size of a notecard on my computer. It makes video unwatchable if its full screen.
Anything I can do? Any ideas? I’ve followed all the suggestions in this article to no avail (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718), except for the IDE step, which doesn’t seem to be an option on my computer?
Thank you for all your help.

There have been reports of problems like this when iTunes has a big version jump.
I've not witness any problems that you have, I'm running on low power on battery and video still plays fine in iTunes, even fullscreen. My laptop is probably less powerful than yours is.
Problems like this seem to come about if there is a major software revision and the software isn't removed properly before installing a newer version.
Try http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 this is how to completely remove iTunes to install a newer version. Best to do a backup first just in case. If that doesn't work, there is another way, but we'll try that one for now.

  • SEVERE, MAJOR Problems with ITunes Video Playback on 64-bit Win7

So I got a new rig (ASUS G74SX running 64-bit Win7 Home Prem) after I figured my nearly 5-year old HP Pav dv9500t running 32-bit Vista Home Prem had put in good years of work.  In using ITunes on the Vista system, I never really saw problems with its player on video podcasts.
Completely different story on the Win7 machine.  Aside from all the other problems noted with ITunes itself (not the player) in this forum, there is this:
    1. When something like UAC occurs, the video clip runs in the player, but the video is frozen (like a photographic still) while the audio continues to run on normally.  Workaround:  minimize then restore the player window, then the video part of playback returns.  Of course that gets annoying doing that multiple times after a while.
    2. With one video podcast (for example, The Young Turks podcasts), while the audio again continues normally, the video track lags unbelievably.  The video appears in slow motion.  The viewer risks a headache from vertigo if the viewer continues watching slow motion video unmatched with the normal audio.
At first I considered the possiblity that it was related to a 5400 rpm hard disk drive, which came with the new machine and I would not have normally have not bought myself, but I had someone buying it for me (my HP system only had 7200 rpm drives...what is ASUS thinking in letting Best Buy do a performance markdown?).  Then I played that video podcast with VLC media player, and it absolutely had NO problem keeping up with the video and audio.  (Another thing to like and prefer with this player is that you can keep the window on top.)
Seriously, the programming group at ITunes should be ashamed and maybe every member of its group should consider getting another day job.  With each revision, ITunes seems to get worse.

My installation of version 10.6.x of ITunes does not have QuickTime.
As of version 10.5 of ITunes, QuickTime is no longer apparently bundled with ITunes, which clearly has its own player.  In addition, I have used a minimal install of ITunes.  This eliminates the install of the bug-ridden Bonjour service, which was filling up Windows event logs needlessly and crashing from time to time anyway.
Now although I installed ITunes only a few days ago in this new laptop, I did find ITunes in the Programs & Features page and clicked Repair.  After the "repair," I played the video revealing the flaws of the ITunes player, and the playback problems were still there.  I used the other media player and it played flawlessly.

  • My macbook pro runs slow, iTunes videos keep stuttering. Nothing has worked to solve this issue. Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2012 2.5GHz i5 with 8GB RAM upgrade.

    Hello everyone.
I have been having this issue for a few months now and nothing works to resolve it. The biggest issue is that iTunes videos constantly stutter ever few seconds, the audio portion of the video is not effected. The most I have open at once is Safari, Skype, and iTunes, and possibly Open Office. Videos will even stutter with nothing else open other than iTunes. At times it sounds like the computer is running something in the background from hard drive noise.
I even upgraded the RAM to 8GB and it still has this problem! Nothing looks wrong in Activity Monitor other than occasionally the memory usage spikes up to 6GB, but even then the memory pressure graph is green. I dont understand how these non-intensive programs can use that much. The hard drive is barely 1/3 full.
Please help with a solution as nothing has worked so far. Thanks!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • Play itunes videos on a Large Second Monitor

    Hi Folks,
Ultimately, my goal is to have a late model Mac Book Pro, connected to a least a 24 in. secondary monitor or High end Larger tv 32-50 inches or so connected through a HDMI cable.
Then I would like to run iTunes - in which the APP will show on the laptop screen, and as I trigger videos from iTunes - they will play on the secondary monitor - all in my preset large size.
Currently - in my testing I have a Vista PC laptop running iTunes (latest) and 24 in. secondary monitor.
At first I set video preferences : separate window full-size - but each time a video played - it would black out the laptop's screen which I do not want to do - since I need to use iTunes while the video plays... (to select other videos etc.)
The video prefs were then set to: open in a separate window
At first - I started playing a video - and dragged it to the 24 in. monitor and set it to a large size
As I jump from video to video - many times the newer video would resize itself to a small window - often different for each one - and I would have to manually resize it... not what I wanted to do.
So - I set up one large screen size - then I selected all the videos - Control-i (get info) - and set all of them to remember playback position....
Then - as I jumped around from one to another - they seem to stay closer to the size I want - But some still get smaller and bigger...
Q: how can I set this up - so all videos will play on the second monitor in the same position and size window for each one?
Is this better on a MBP or should Vista PC work right also? Is it better on the latest mac w snow leopard?

*I was wondering if you can play music videos on a second generation iPod nano.*
The second generation Nano is not designed for video playback and won't load music videos, video podcasts or other video files.
*It has a space for music videos but I'm not sure if you can play them*
iTunes has a default video playlist, the Nano picks this up but not any files that are contained in it.

  • Downloaded iTunes video - doesn't work

    Hi,
I am overseas and downloaded an iTunes video direct to my iPad. The download started fine but was going to take a while to download. Whe I looked back soon afer the download had disappeared, I checked the videos on my iPad, it was there. When I tried to play it, it's just a black screen, it's not possible it finished downloading.
    Any thoughts?

First try updating the video card/driver. If it came with the PC when you bought it, goto the PC makers site. If you installed a video card AFTER buying the PC, goto the maker of the video card.
If updating the video card doesn't work, try the steps here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303706

  • ITune Videos stop playing

About 5 weeks ago we noticed  that 10-20 minutes into playing, iTunes videos would stop. I am streaming from iMac to Apple TV.
We haven't changed anything that I can pinpoint. I have even checked energy settings. Nothing obvious!

  • Problem with itunes video playback.

many of my high quality video files seem to run so smoothly with my media players lik VLC, but when i play them in itunes the video gets stuck and the audio keeps playing.. how do i solve this..

What was the fix for this? Everything has sucked for my itunes video playback since the last major revision release.

  • My iTunes video playback is not working.

So my videos haven't been playing on iTunes.
when I rent a movie, I cannot watch it, because it simply goes to a green screen.
I have updated everything that needs updating.
Also, the trailers don't even play- they're in green screen too.
I have tried renting in SD and HD and neither change the screen...
As much as I love hearing every sound of the movie, I'd like to watch it..
Any brainy folks outthere willing to help?

If you installed DivX, that can prevent iTunes video content from loading. Check the DivX website for uninstall insructions.

  • Itunes video quality

Have just recently downloaded a video clip from itunes music store, except the video is jumpy thru out (as in it stops and starts again with a second). Does not happen to any of my other itunes videos. Does anyone have any thoughts/experience with this?? What should I do to get the issue fixed? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
    Dell Inspiron 630m   Windows XP

Ok, to clarify, by quality I meant resolution. I actually wasn't aware that there were even other measures of quality. That's nice to know that they have an updated codec, but I would really like to see higher resolution videos if I'm going to spend my money on this... it's cool to be able to see it on an iPod on the go but I don't think that that replaces a real screen, and if iTunes wants to get a lot of purchases I think they'll have to fix that. I already looked at the previews and it was definitely pixilated when I enlarged it.

  • Hrd Drive Full- Archive iTunes Videos to DVD?

My daughter has filled up her laptop's hard drive. The big culprits are movies and TV shows purchased from iTunes. Is there a way that these files can be taken off her hard drive and archived to a DVD? She's not watching the files now and is OK if they come off her iPod, but doesn't want to erase something she paid for in case she might want them at some later date.
Is this possible? If so can someone point me to directions on how to archive these to DVD and how to restore to the hard drive at a later date?
    Thanks!

Hi L Powow- thanks for responding to my question. That's not quite what I had in mind. I don't want to back up the entire library, I only want to back up select iTunes video purchases for archival purposes.
I would like to remove the iTunes video purchases from the iTunes library on the computer's hard drive, because they take up too much space and they are not being currently used on the iPod.
I want to know how I can back-up only purchased videos to DVD, so that if I remove them from the library on the PC's hard drive and if, at a future date, there is a requirement to load the videos back onto to the iTunes library, I will be able to restore the videos from a DVD to the iTunes library on the PC hard drive.
Any suggestions on a backup and restore procedure to do this? Thanks.
