Dial the phone from the calendar?
Is it possible to dial the phone from the calendar? I have a lot of teleconferences scheduled every week, and location is entered as a phone number. I can't find any way to dial that number directly from the calendar. I've been forced to write the number down so I can dial it - which is not cool when I'm traveling. But since there's no cut & paste, I'm stuck.
Am I missing something? Or is there really no way to do this?
What ways have you tried? I'm guessing Apple just didn't realize that people might be entering phone numbers as locations, and so didn't make the phone number in those fields tappable, so send them feedback:

But experiment--try putting the number in all sorts of different fields and see whether any sync as tappable. iCal has a URL field, maybe that one would work (if it syncs). Maybe the notes field (though I think I've seen complaints that it doesn't).
Alternatively, you might look for some way of auto-generating the event details as an email to yourself, and then the number should be tappable in the email. Possibly just as tedious as writing the number down, though.

I tried it and it works great. But, I need to add a passcode on after the number. I've tried this format, tel:18774442413;12345, but this isn't working.

Dialing phone extensions from the Calendar
I am trying to use the native calendar app for my corporate mail/meetings. One meeting is a conference bridge I need to dial into and I cant seem to get the soft pauses to work correctly. In the invite I have 888< Conference Number>,,1,<Bridge ID#>,# in other calendars it saw this as a string and would dial the number pause for ~4 seconds dial the bridge id number pause for 2 seconds and then press pound. On the native Samsung calendar it does not recognize the commas as pauses and will only open the conference number in the phone app. What format do I need to use for the phone to recognize this as a string and include everything past the conference number.
Thanks for the response JoeKiv, yes using the pause when creating a contact does work but how do I embed that number into a meeting invite? Because once outside of the contact it no longer see's the comma as a pause.

I have a brand new IPhone 4G. I can't get it to ring. I have gone into settings and disengaged vibrate, and have engaged the ring button on side of phone. But everytime I dial my number from a different phone, it doesn't ring. Rather the call goes directly into my voice mailbox (ogm heard immediately); not even one ring! Please advise
Well, if it goes to VM immediately the call isn't reaching your phone, so no wonder it isn't ringing. Do you see a network displayed in the upper left of the screen? Have you activated the phone by connecting to a computer with the latest version of iTunes? Have you called your carrier to make sure they have provisioned it correctly?

How do I back up the calendar and contacts from my iPhone5 to my new macbook pro(10.8.3)? I have backed up the phone, but it does not transfer the calendar or the contacts. If I check them in the sync area and then back up the phone again will they transfer or be erased? I am a bit gun shy since my previous macbook pro committed suicide and I lost a ton of info there.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer.

I have programmed my Iphone to automatically connect to confcalls (dialing the nbr, pausing, dialing the PIN code).
Works fine from the Iphone as such.
When I connect my Iphone in Bluetooth to the voice-driven system in my car (Mercedes C), only the phone number appears to be transmitted. Entering a conference call number via the Iphone while driving is not a good idea.
How can I fix this ?That *****. I sell electronics on ebay. Before listing them, i have to test and clean them. I have worked with microsoft Zune, you could sync via wireless through the network to your host computer.
i was hoping Apple would add that feature or the ability to connect to my computer via WiFi or Bluetooth and sync it wirelessly... It would be sweet to have the bluetooth and wireless opened up so you can do more than just connect to headphones or a headset...
I upgraded to the iPhone 4 this past december, i am on replacement # 2 or my 3rd iPhone 4... I was hoping for some upgrades in quality. Also being left handed, it seemed to drop many calls and give me very poor reception. i added a Griffin Elan Form Graphie case that covers all but the front, top button, bottom speakers and volume control buttons and the call and reception quality has improved. But I sure would have loved to see some improvements in the quality and function of the phone...

Is it possible to edit the calendar that an event is on from the phone?
iPhone 2.0: I hope I'm not missing something here (though, I guess I hope I am), but is it possible to change the calendar that an event is on, after adding it to iPhone? In other words, first adding to Calendar an event to any of several calendars I have on my phone ("Home," for example), then going back to edit it to change the calendar to "Work," all from the phone itself? Going back to edit an event allows changing Title/Location, Starts/Ends, Repeat, Alert, Notes. Any thoughts? Thanks!
The option to change the calendar in edit mode is missing, which is a glaring oversight by Apple. I really makes no sense to omit this option. I will be very disappointed if it is not added in the next update. You either have to delete and add it as a new event in the proper calendar, or edit it in iCal on the computer.

I can't seem to make an actual phone call from my iPhone 4S. I dial the number, and the phone at the other end rings. But at my end there is nothing. No ringing. No person trying to talk to me. What is causing this problem? I have got all of the current updates loaded to my phone.
My brother had a similar problem and he went to the Apple store and they gave him a new one under warrenty...she said something about the arial, I would give it a go.

Your problem is that she used your icloud ID to connect to icloud and thus had all your data synced to her device. Contacts are not saved in a backup to icloud, since they are stored independently in the Contacts section of icloud. If someone deletes them, they are gone. If you had them on the PC would they be available in some backup you frequently make of the PC?

I'm trying to sync the calendar from my phone on the my new mac. the "sync calendars" blurb in iTunes says, "your calendars are being synced with your iPhone over the air from iCloud".. not nothing is happening. what to do? what to do?
or even better on mac sign into icloud with same apple id under system preferences and icloud
they will merge automatically

I erase my calendar by mistake from mu Iphone conected to the cloud And I cant get it back I reset the iphone from the previos erase backup and comes with the erase calendar what can I do to read the calendar from the back up? thanks

Technically, the phone CAN be tracked using the "serial" number, but no one will do that for you. If your phone is offline, there's no way of reaching it. Most likely, it's already been restored and either put up for sale on eBay, or is being used by the theives themselves.
Sorry, but there's nothing else you can do other than report it to your carrier, the police, and change all your passwords to any account that might have been in use on the phone. -
How to dial phone # from calendar
I am very frustrated that I can't seem to dial a phone number I entered as an event in my calendar with just a tap. Yet, lo and behold, I go onto the Apple site and I see this:
"Using Multi-Touch on iPhone makes the Calendar application intuitive and simple to use. Tap to create and send out meeting invites, accept or decline a meeting invitation, or dial a phone number from meeting notes."
What does this mean? Where? I regularly set up the phone numbers of people I need to call in Calendar and, so far, I can do this on any phone but can't figure out how to do this from the iPhone. Is this feature only available in "meeting notes?" Where is that? Is it visible on your calendar? If it isn't, who cares?thelaw wrote:

Yes, only in the Notes. Meaning, if you or whoever organized the meeting enters a phone number in the Notes field, you can tap the number to dial it. The field is only present if notes were entered - for example, you can enter notes when creating a new event on the iPhone; for Outlook invitations sent via Exchange, text entered into the 'body' of the calendar event are Notes. It +does not+ work for numbers entered the location field (which is how most of my invites are, unfortunately).

I just bought a MacBook Pro and am having some problems with the calendar and contacts list, and my problem could be causing other issues that I am not aware of. So, this is what's happening:
I had two iPhone5s associated with my Apple ID for a while. When I got this MacBook, and learned of Family Sharing, I decided that it would be better for each user to have their own unique ID. So, I have deleted and set up a new Apple ID and iCloud ID on the phone I want separated from MY Apple ID and iCloud. I want the computer to be associated with MY IDs, not the other phone. However, the computer still thinks the two phones are one in the same, despite the other phone being removed from both accounts and being registered with different IDs. Things I have noticed: The calendar on the computer still has the old phones calendar and still has all of the old phones contacts. When I went to use FaceTime and iMessage, the old phone number still shows up as an option. The old phone is still connected to something, somewhere, but I can't figure it out. My data, contacts, and calendars also show up, both phones show up all over the computer and I only want ONE phone, MY phone to show up.
Things I have tried:
Deleting the accounts from iCloud & iTunes
Updating the OS
Rebooting, phones and computer
Logging out and logging back in
Creating a new user account on the computer
Probably several other things I'm just not remembering because it's 4 am and I've been doing this since 11:30 pm and am completely exhausted.
I've literally been Googling and browsing this forum for hours and trying everything I see, but nothing is working. The computer still thinks it's connected to the old phone. It's making me crazy because the user has literally 39 alarms every single day reminding her to do different things. I had a group account on mobileme...a family pack that each of us at work had an individual account and we all shared one account in the family. It kept our work calendar- a schedule telling who is in the office and who is on call. This is still on my macBook but not on my phone or my iPad. Any idea how I make my phone show the calendars on my MacBook? It was there before I went to iCloud.
If your email account offers a webmail access, I suggest checking the webmail - log in to your account using the webmail access, and I predict you will see all those "unread" emails there and can dispose of them from there.
This happens because the iPhone that went bad, when reading those emails, did not remove them from your email provider's servier.
