Dial- up- Connection pop-up

I upgraded from WRT54GX2 Router & WPC54GX4 Notebook Adapter to a WRT160N Router & WPC600N Notebook Adapter. Installation was a breeze, everything work great except LELA. LELA works somedays. My problem is now I get the "Dial-up-connection" pop-up menu which causes IE to switch to "Work offline". I just cancel the "Dial-up-connection" menu, then another pop-up "Webpage unavailable while offline" which I also cancel, then uncheck "Work Offline" on the Internet Option menu. After all this, my Internet connection comes back until the pop-up menu appears again. Never had this issue with the WRT54GX2 or WPC54GX4. Does anyone have a solution to this annoying problem?

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Connection > Check never dial a connection and delete any items from the list > OK. Open a new broswer and check.

How Do I Stop the Dial Up Box popping up

Hello all,
I am developing a three tiered RMI/JDBC application and have just about got it working over a LAN. My problem is that when my client (192.168.0.2) performs a Naming.lookup(String URL) the dial-up connection box pops up on my server computer(192.168.0.1) wanting me to connect to the internet.
If I press cancel the client connects and everything seems to work but I was hoping there was some way of stopping it occuring in the first place.
If anyone has a solution to this problem it would be much appreciated.

You have to configure it on the server box to not auto-dial the internet.

How do I erase an old dial up connection?

I am trying to delete an old dial up connection that keeps populating. I am unable to use my new internet service provider due to the pop up question populating asking me if that is how I am getting on the internet. I called my provider and they told me I needed to delete that dial up connection but they were unfamilar as to how to do it due to me being with mozilla firefox and not internet explorer.

Speed dials, "no connection," won't power down - HELP!

I just got the GS3 five days ago. It was working great until last night. All of a sudden, it doesn't recognize my speed dials beyond #9. I have deleted 10-16 and reassigned them twice to no avail. Also, the screen won't shut off after the designated amount of time. Each time, the screen dims like it's going to shut down, then while dim, a bubble pops up saying, "No connection. Check that you are connected to the internet." then brightens back up and it's the same cycle over and over again. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

I figured out the problems: 1) speed dial requires you to do a long press on the last digit. I was confused because if I pushed a single button (1-9), the speed dial assignment would pop up on the screen, whereas anything after 9 (10+) wouldn't register on the screen. 2) Dice with Buddies is the culprit for the repeated "no connection" pop up. I had to 'force stop' that app to avoid that app constantly messing with my phone.

I lost the dial up connection dialog box. I unchecked a check item in the dial connetion box. How do I get the dial up connection back?

I see no direct connection.. a printer and the computer setup for internet are not related.
But it sounds like the router in the wife's office is now in the wrong mode..
If you have an existing main router replace the second router for a switch .. that is the easy way.
Otherwise you need to bridge the router if it has that option.. most do not. Or use wan bypass.. where you turn off the dhcp server in the router and fix its ip to match the range of the main router.. this is the hassle of using router as a switch.
BUT I am making a huge number of assumptions.
What I need is the full network layout.. a quick picture would help.
I need main modem.. main router.. (maybe same box or different).. make model and current IP address and how dhcp is setup.
I need secondary router.. if that is what it is, IP and settings.
I want the printer type and model. How it is connected.
BTW I much prefer to see a network printer plugged into the network rather than usb.. it is only a matter of sorting the IP settings and driver pointing to the network rather than local.
Or you should think of it as a broken washing machine and call the technician.. who could fix the whole lot in an hour.

Sending dial up connection to a wired base station?

Hi have a powerbook G4 Ti with airport card, an extreme base station and an emac with a dial up connection. I was wondering if anybody knows how I can route the dial up connection via ethernet to the base station so I can get the dial up connetion through airport to surf wirelessly on the powerbook. Any comments greatly appreciated. TIA

Presumably you don't want to do this the easy way, by using the dialup modem built into the Airport Extreme Base Station?
To use the dialup modem in the eMac is a bit convoluted. You need to do the following:
- set up internet connection sharing (in System Preferences->Sharing) on the eMac. See also:

- you need to run the Airport Admin Utility from the Powerbook, and disable the router built into the Base Station by unchecking the box next to "Distribute IP addresses" found under the Network tab of that utility.
- you need to cable the Base Station's LAN (not WAN) port to the eMac's ethernet port
- and then every time you want to access the internet you must (a) first establish the dialup connection from the eMac and then (b) restart the Powerbook to force it to obtain a renewed IP address from the eMac.
It would also be much easier to just get rid of the Base Station, install an Airport card in the eMac, and use the eMac as a "software base station".

Changing/Adding Numbers to the Network/Dial-Up Connection Thing-a-ma-bob...

But I am scared to death to try. I get connected without a hitch now, and I do NOT want to disturb that!!! I don't know what I am doing with this, but if it will improve the speed and stability of my dial-up connection so I can successfully download and install my updates, I will risk it.
How much chance do I have of messing my connect-ability up altogether?
And how do I go about doing it properly?

In the Network Pref Pane, choose the Location drop down, choose Edit Locations, then choose Duplicate... now you have one you can paste those numbers into, and just switch Locations back if need be without changing any numbers.
It's safe though anyway really.:-)

Want to disable/"grey out" dial-up connection "settings" button in the "connections" tab of Internet Options

Hi, I'm looking to "grey out" a dial-up connection for some users in workplace, so that they are forced to use our VPN client in order to access the web. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I know you can disable all settings on that tab using local group policy, (e.g. Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer) but I only want to disable a specific dial-up connection (for usb 3G modems).
I've read of various IE settings being locked down in the registry here, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions, but havent seen the settings I want.
The actual connection is visible here, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections, I just cant figure out how to grey it out. Any ideas? Thanks!

Where is the option to set up a dial-up connection in firefox 12?

I am using a G3 USB modem as my internet connection - Firefox 12 seems to think I'm connecting through a network when I'm using a dial-up connection.
IF I open IE8 first - which automatically dials the connection and then open Firefox 12 connect quite happily BUT if I just open Firefox 12 I get no connectivity,
I want to use Firefox 12 cos I dislike IE8 - how do I tell Firefox 12 that it is meant to auto-dial a dial-up connection?

I've followed the instructions, Rebooted, opened Firefox 12 and got the 'No connection' error again.
Checked in services - those 3 are running - so I guess the answer is NO. no help but thanks
Also, it says no auto-disconnect option - download 'hang up' but that link seems to be dead - Firefox can't find the server at www1.physik.tu-muenchen.de.
Any ideas please?

Dial Up Connection or lack of !

I have been trying for several days now to establish a dial up connection at my mothers home without success. Both the BT Dial Up department and BT Fault reporting have been exceedingly helpful in trying to give assistance but the end result remains "No Dial Tone" when the modem tries to connect. BT have increased the gain on the line as much as possible without success.
They tell me the property is 6km from the exchange and this could be the problem. I thought every phone line should be able to get dial up regardless of distance from the exchange.
I have tried disabling the modem option to listen for a diial tone and also plugged directly into the inside of the master socket with no joy.
BT have offered to send a field engineer but have stated if he finds he can get a dial up signal with his equipment there will be a charge and I can't take that chance.
Does anyone have any ideas. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and an external US Robotics USB modem. When I connect using the same sign in and configuration at my own property everything is just fine so it would not seem to be anything to do with settings or computer hardware.
I originally intended to use a mobile broadband doingle but the address is in a total blackspot on all networks. Broadband is too expensive for the minimul use needed at my mums address and I guess that could even struggle being 6km from the exchange.
Any help appreciated.

How to automatically initiate a dial-up connection from Lookout and send an attachment

Folks:
I am trying to send (as an attachment) a spreadsheet file via email.
How can I programatically (from Lookout) initiate the default dial-up,
send the email (and attachment) and after success (btw, how do I
measure this?), ... then close the dial-up connection.
I am using 6.0.1 running on XP Pro (SP2).

Check out the Lookout help on the mailer object. There is an attachment data member that you will use to point it to the file you want to attach to the email.

HT5730 After I installed 10.8.48.4 Internet browsing slowed down to the pace of a dial-up connection. How can I get back to normal operating speed?

After I installed 10.8.4, my Internet browsing slowed down to the pace of a dial-up connection -- unless it froze up completely. How do I get my system back to a normal operating mode? Can I dump 10.8.4 and go back to the one that at least worked?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

Flash accessing the Dial Up connection

I'm new to the forums, so hello to everybody.
I've got a project on my hands, an interactive kiosk. I've created the interface in Flash, but I have some issues I can't get past. First of all, I want to create an emergency call feature, where the user presses a button and the kiosk dials the emergency number (112 for Europe). Now, how can I make the Flash movie call upon Windows' dial up connection, dial a number, establish a connection then disconnect? I know that Flash can't use Windows services directly, so how can I accomplish this?
My second issue is that I also would like to create a photo-shoot system, where the Flash movie takes a snapshot from the webcam, saves it as a file, then the user needs to input his email address and the file is sent by email as an attachment.
I hope I've been clear enough. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sharing the dial-up connection of a PC laptop--either wired, or wirelessly

Hello, fellow Mac users! I just got my first Mac--a beautiful 1.83 GHz MacBook. I LOVE the switch to OS X from Windows XP.
Anyway, here's problem:
I am leaving on vacation, and, unfortunately the resort at which we are staying does not have Internet Access, so I am forced to use dial-up. Unfortunately, since I have heard very bad reports about the Apple USB Modem, I can't get a modem for the MacBook itself, so I will use my PC laptop's modem. The PC Laptop is a Windows XP Pro machine. So, here's the problem--try as I might, I just cannot get the darn PC laptop to share its dial-up connection; either over a ethernet cross-over cable, or adhoc Wi-Fi.
So, please help me get this to work, or I will be forced to use a PC laptop to check e-mail, RSS feeds, and anything else online.

Configure,a dial-up
connection, click the connection that you want to
configure, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change
settings of this connection.
Do one or more of the following:
To configure dialing devices that your computer uses
to make a connection (a modem, for example), phone
numbers, host addresses, country or region codes, or
dialing rules, click the General tab.
To configure dialing and redialing options, or X.25
settings, click the Options tab.
To configure identity authentication, which is a way
to help verify your computer’s identity when making a
connection, data encryption (which codes the content
so that it’s less likely to be readable by someone
other than the intended recipient), or terminal window
and scripting options, click the Security tab.
To configure the remote access server that you want to
connect to and protocols (the format that your
computer uses to communicate with other computers)
used for this connection, click the Networking tab.
To turn Internet Connection Sharing on or off or
configure your computer to establish a dial-up

So try to use dhcp on your network setting or something between those range listed above with a cross over cable (make sure the cross over cable has good connection).
