then in the console you have to type pppd ttya (if your modem is conected to the Com1) call myisp
were myisp is one of the files that you have to configure, but how i'm told you everyting is splained on that files
If you dont have it please install the 2 Cd

  • MacBook Pro crashes when connecting via external modem

My new MacBook Pro crashes when I try to connect to the Internet via an external modem. Is it a SW or HW problem? In the latter case might it by the computer or the modem (original).

    MacBook Pro 1,1   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

This is Bob Simpson again from Paris. I followed the advice given in this forum and took out the set of HP printer drivers from the drivers pre-installled in my MacBook Pro and put them on my desktop. After that, the modem worked perfectly. If I want to use my HP Laserjet 1200 printer, I plug it into a USB port on the computer, the computer recognizes it and prints. If I want to use the modem again, I have to take that printer out of my list of printers in the print center. This is a bit of a pain in the neck, but it works. No one at any of the Apple distributers or Apple Care centers was able to figure all this out. Our forum did the job and we should get free awards from Apple, like the installation of the update on all our computers that will settle this problem. Otherwise, my BMacBook pro works like a dream. Many thanks to all of you and jackplug, you don't have to throw away your printer.

  • Impossible connecting my external modems with OSX 10.4 Tiger

I have two external modems that I have been trying to connect to my powerbook (one OR the other, not both simultaneously, but since NEITHER work...)
    - One is a regular DSL USB modem, which I had no trouble getting to work on my previous Powerbook (OS X 10.3). However the OS X 10.4 will not recognize the modem, even after I have installed the appropriate software.
    - The other is a NETGEAR ADSL ROUTER with MODEM which can be connected either through Ethernet or WiFi. There too, i am unable to connect it. For that matter, I am also unable to open the "install" file on the CD that is provided; the Mac will not read it. I have thus downloaded the driver from the Netgear website, but that has not solved my problem.
I would extremely grateful for any help with this problem. It is driving me crazy!!!
    thank you,
    envols

First lets start with the USB ADSL Modem.
They have shown that they are very unreliable at best, They seem to be what most of the European ISP's offer. This is not to say they don't and won't work they just leave much to the imagination as far as the present technology is concerned.
Now your Netgear ADSL Modem Router.
First go to your Apple and then to System Preferences and when it opens Go to Network, Choose your method of connection Airport for wireless and Ethernet for using Cable or Cat 5 or 6 connection, click on your choice and the green light will come on and drag your choice to the top of the list.
Next, there is also a SHARING option under System Preferences as well click on it and at the top there are three boxes, SERVICES..FIREWALL.. INTERNET
go through each of these and choose your options, give special attention to the INTERNET option, Be sure that you have the correct option from which you share your connection from, either Airport for wireless and Ethernet for hard wired.
Click on Safari and when it opens you can check the paperwork that came with your Modem Router to accsess the utility for it. Normally you type in 192.168.1.1 in the browser and click the return key this will open the set-up for the Modem Browser.
You shouldn't need any special driver for this device, however there may be a firmware update for it and the paperwork with the Modem Router will direct you as to how to download it.
You may have to click on the Safari Icon and choose Preferences, this will allow you to also go through the options there to set up as well.
You may also have to plug in your Modem Router and let it establish the connection from your ISP, (Normally 3 lights) before you plug your computer in. You may also have to restart or shut your computer clear off and wait a minute or so before you restart to acquire the connection.

  • Internet connectivity using E51 modem through USB

    Dear ALL,
I have been using my E51 as a modem for my laptop. After 2 days of usage the USB driver reinstalled automatically. After then I couldn't use the phone to browse the net. Whenever, I try to establish the connection the program says connection could not be established as another program is accessing or the modem is not configured properly.
After, trying lot of stuff. I uninstalled all the nokia programs from my computer.
Yesterday, I downloaded the latest PC Suite 7.1 and installed it. But when i click on the internet it says modem not found. Later, I couldn't find the USB icon at the bottom most toolbar.
The issue with drivers usually come up when the USB is disconnected manually (Usually we have to remove it safely by stoping all programs).
    Can NOKIA please help me?

Try going to your pc control panal > add/remove program > look for pc connectivity sollution > change > repair.
you must be logged in with the admin account.
-then try to connect using one touch access from PC Suite again.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • 5130 cannot get phone connection, using as modem

Recently purchased 5130 to use as modem for my laptop.  Am using sim card from primary phone to access internet (primary phone has internet service), and connection with USB cable.  Downloaded PC suite, have Vista OS.  Have set specs to phone and internet provider (AT&T) but cannot get connection.  Error display says cannot get phone connection.  Phone works in phone mode, although cannot see contacts.
( I have a new bluetooth USB adaptor, but do not want to open package if I can get cable to work.  No point in opening blue tooth yet as cannot even get phone connection.)
    Any advice?

  • Cannot connect using new modem

My sister spilled water on my modem so I dug up this older Westell Model 2200 modem which works fine with my desktop. However, when I plug the modem to the router, I don't get any internet signal anymore. I tried reconnecting all wires, rebooted everything.
Also when I try to hit up the router's web based setup, it leads me to the Modem's intead when I type in 192.168.1.1
When I try running ipconfig, the windows pops up for a split second and then disappears.
    HELP PLEASE!
Message Edited by fobsternd on 08-27-2008 08:08 PM

Reset the router for few seconds ..... after reset .... try this settings .....
Access the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
    click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
    button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
    - Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If you are getting Ip - 192.168.1.X ...change the LAN Ip to 192.168.2.1 ....Power cycle for 3-4 minutes ...
    Try going online
If still not working ...use Internet Connection type as PPPOE .... Use Username & Password provided by Service Provider ....
    Click save settings....
Look for WAN IP address again under status page ....

  • Intermittent dropout of internet connection using cable modem

    Hello all.
My connection drops out a few times a day. Only for a few seconds, but I suspect it caused problems with downloading a playlist from iTunes today, which is particularly frustrating; and it's unnerving at the best of times. My ISP is not very helpful about this. I know that one possibility is that I'm getting interference from other signals, but I don't know what I can do about that, so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions about something I can do from the Mac.
    To clarify:
The message I get from my email client (Entourage) is CONNECTION TO THE SERVER FAILED OR WAS DROPPED.
My modem is a D-Link, connected through an ethernet cable.
    Here's hoping! Thanks in advance,
    Roger

I think your problem is either the ISP or your modem. Try resetting the modem by shutting everything down; modem and Mac for two minutes. Then power up the modem, wait two minutes, then power up the Mac. If the problem persists have your ISP give you a new modem (if renting it from them) or purchase a new one.

  • Connect iPhone to external modem?

Maritime and emergency workers need to access the web and email over a satellite connection when there is no cellular service available. Although this is a lot slower than a cellular connection, it is better than nothing.
Can I set up the networking on an iPhone to access the internet via a PPP connection over an external modem? I would connect the external modem to the iPhone using either a USB connection (virtual serial port) or to a serial port on the iPhone if it has one.
Does the iPhone have the ability to drive a network connection through an external modem?
    Thanks,

    neuruoanatomist,
Thanks for the suggestion. Would it be possible to set up a PPP connection over Bluetooth in order to save some power?

  • MacBook - External modem causing freezing

    Hi
My MacBook keeps locking up when connected to my external dial-up modem. It's fine without it and when connected via airport, but hangs constantly when connected to the external modem.
Sometimes it takes 5-6 restarts to get it to connect, then it hangs after 4 mins online. Then the next day it'll connect no problem and stay online for over an hour ?
    All help gratefully received
    Matt.

I also ran into this with my MacBookPro 2.33 C2D.
All I can say is Macintosh 2008 is JUST LIKE Windoze 98 cough Intel.
    Here's the deal:
    * The USB2 port on the right side is on the same bus as the Keyboard and the Trackpad. If you connect an external modem to this port you'll see that the Keyboard, Trackpad and your modem are in the list [hence the same bus].
    * When I was on a dicey connection, and on the rightside USB plug --the modem would FREEZE and also cause the keyboard and trackpad to freeze within 4 minutes of connecting. The only thing I could do is hit the powerkey to get the shutdown dialog.
    * I've moved the modem to the LEFT plug by the Mag Connect AC Adaptor. No restart. But did check the system profiler, the modem is not sharing a USB bus. So far I've been on for 25 minutes and am now typing this at leisure.
    So:
1/ Check System Profiler. If you're sharing a USB port that has the mouse/trackpad/keyboard, with a pokey external modem and it crashes.. guess what?
2/ Move and verify that the modem occupies ITS OWN port.
3/ Think happy thoughts, and hope that Apple hires more QE.
Seriously, I remember Windoze machines that would have IRQ and other port conflicts with the modem and the peripherals. Oh. Look how far we've come.
    -Leo M
    retired QE,
    gee Apple, are you hiring?
    Not.
