Dial Up Connection With My Recon HP7800 Windows 7 Using An Internal 5600K Modem

Just purchased a refurbed HP7800 with Windows 7. They installed an internal 5600K modem but it will not connect to the Internet using AOL as my connection.
I'm not real savy about this newer technology but the modem doesn't seem to be operating.

I understand you have recently purchased a refurbished HP Compaq dc7800 Business PC with a 56k dial-up modem installed and the dial-up modem is not working. I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Business PCs - Compaq, Elite, Pro.

  • Sharing a Vista Dial up connection with a Mac wire wirless connection

I have a problem i would like to share the internet connection from my wifes PC (dial up connection) with my mac book pro via wireless connection between each computer. Now it works ok (after fiddling with firewall on PC) when we have the dial up connection on the mac and use the wireless from the PC to access the internet the same time. but it does not work the other way. I tried to allow sharing on both the dial up or wireless, I have not found the same option which we have in the mac to tell the wireless connection which internet connection is to be shared. Is there any easy way to do it or must i pay a wireless router to access the dial up connection.

    i guess you should try
    String cmd = "c:\windows\dialup.exe";
    String envp [] = null; //environment variable
    Runtime.exec(cmd, envp);

You can try resetting your iPad and iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Unable to achieve dial-up connection with G4 Powerbook

I have a G4 PowerBook that I use with a Netgear wi-fi router for Broadband and my server, Virgin. I want to use the PowerBook with just a dial-up connection to another server, BT. I turn off Airport. I have spent a long while with the BT helpline. I do all the settings they suggest. Then I finally press, Connect. I read: "connecting to server". Then it obviously fails and says Disconnecting. Disconnnecting continues ad infinitum and can only be terminated by doing a Restart. What am I doing wrong, please?

  • Installing and set-up a dial up connection with an USB modem

    Hello.
I moved recently to London, and due to some kind of critical lack of financial sustainability, I cannot afford to pay monthly a decent Internet connection. However I have a phone line on my house so I was thinking on using a USB 56k modem to connect via dial-up to Internet (my laptop don't have any integrated modem or PCMCIA port). But I honestly don' t know if that will work (all references googling send me to setting up a 3g modem, which is not the case)
What should I do? It will work fine? I remember vagely using ppp-on years ago, and editing some files... But I recknon I wont use anymore tty0 or tty1 if it is a USB device (I am using a custom kernel, so after going for work I' ll do a make menuconfig to check driver aviability). And just for curiosity... It will have dial-up tone? If I have to go nostalgic I' d rather experience the full thing.
    Thanks in advance

    http://www.freeukisp.co.uk/about-dial-u … access.htm
It is the first result googling "free dial up uk", but there is quite a bunch out of there. I only need to look and choose. In Spain at least, I didn't had to pay (just the call rate, wich was free for local calls, so yep, free)
I use the temrinal, and when in X, fvwm95, so I assume wvdial is for me.
    Thanks for the quick answers

  • Netgear router won't let me connect with a network my new roomates use

I have had this problem before connecting to wireless networks, although not all of them. I just moved in with a friend who gave me the network name and password. Although my powerbook G4 sees her network, it shows an error message when i try to connect with the password. She set up the Netgear (WGT624 v3) router using her DELL and everyone else in the house (using PC's) don't have this problem. I'm wondering if we need to go through what she has set up on her computer, because I must have tried everything on mine! Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

    Hi tracie,
thats OK I know how hard wi-fi is to setup, I've spent many hours in the past trying to figure out how to set mine up! Its usually the simplest of things.
Your MAC address or Airport ID (as Apple call it) is a string of a series of 6 two digit numbers/letters separated by a colon e.g. 00:2b:35:18:af:32
This identifies your Airport card on a network & your address can be viewed in System Pref.s/Network, then from the drop down "Show" menu choose "Airport" & then click the Airport tab that appears in the row of buttons & you should see your Airport card's MAC address (Airport ID). But if you cant find that option don't worry about it.
While your in Network Sys Pref click show port config. & drag the Airport entry to the top of the list.
If you do try WEP again, go to router's
    Wireless Settings > Wireless network
& insure the Mode is set to "g and b" just incase.
Then > Security Options & click WEP.
Then in > Security Encryption > Authentication type
    set to Shared key
    Also > Encryption Strength
    set 128bit
After that go down to > Security Encryption (WEP) Key
in Passphrase enter your new password & click the Generate button on the right - this will bring up your HEX key in the checked "Key" box below.
write this new generated key down & click Apply & log out.
Now on your PB open the Airport network entry window, change top box from "WEP Password" to "WEP 40/128-bit HEX"
Then enter the generated key you wrote down into the box below, & click ok/join.
Keep 'em crossed & you "should" join.

  • Problems with iCAL,iPHOTO and Windows XP (using parrallells) after Leopard

I installed Leopard and now iCAL won't publish to the web. When you try to access it from the web it says the page can't be located... that the calendar may have been deleted or renamed. No body at Mac can figure it out so far.
I also can no longer open iPHOTO or any applications in Windows XP which I run from Parralells. This is a new issue that just occurred 3 days after the intial installation of Leopard.

Because I created FAT32 partition using Boot Camp tool few days ago I installed my custom copy of Windows XP with SP3, IE7 and WMP10 integrated using nLite (for WMP10 integration use RVM Integrator). I did not use Boot Camp tool this time - I just booted CD using Option key. Then I installed Boot Camp 2.0 drivers you can find on Mac Disk 1. After this I installed Boot Camp drivers 2.1 update. In Add or remove Programs I checked drivers - I uninstalled old drivers which call identical, but you can skip this. Everything works fine BTW it is better to format your partition to NTFS - you have much less disk errors, you do not waste time for disk errors scans during Windows startup, your data are much more safe. If you need NTFS write permissions use great tool Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX or open source NTFS driver.

  • Using an Internal 3G Modem along with an external 4G USB MOdem on the same computer

I have a Sony Viao running Windows 7 Professional. I have an internal Broadband card on the machine and an external 4G Modem. My old computer did not have an internal modem, and I was able to use both a 3G external modem and the 4G modem on the same computer. Depending on the area I was in, I would just plug in the proper modem, VZAccess MGR would ask if I want to configure to this modem, I would say "Yes" and I was on my way.
With this new computer, and it's internal card, plugging in the 4G modem does not cause the computer to ask me to reconfigure. In addition, since the 3G modem is internal, I would not be able to "plug in" the 3G when I am done using the external 4G modem. I am afraid I would lose the internal card's "set up" if I force it to work.
Is there a way to get the computer to operate both of these cards without causing issues?
Thank you in advance for your help!

I am sending you a private message to request additional information so we may troubleshoot your issue in further detail.
    Thank you

  • Remote Desktop Connection With Custom Certificate on Windows 8.1 fails

I'm trying to establish a secured remote desktop connection without success.
    The setting
There are some local pcs with windows 8.1 Pro and windows 7 Pro, no server-edition. I've created a self signed ca-certificate with openssl for Windows. I used this to sign custom certs for the local windows-pcs, which are installed at mmc -> certificate
snap-in for local computer -> My Certificates -> Certificates. The networkdriver has the right to read the key. The sha1-fingerprint of the custom signed certs are registered at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp
-> SSLCertificateSHA1Hash = sha-1 hash of the custom local cert. Additionally the revocation-list is restrained to the local list by setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Credssp -> UseCachedCRLOnlyAndIgnoreRevocationUnknownErrors
    = 1.
    The results
The connection form win 8.1 to win 7 works. The connection info confirms that it is a veryfied connection. The connection to windows 8.1 fails after entering the credentials with error: No connection possible. Network Level Authentication is set, but other
level don't work as well. The log (Event Views -> Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager -> Admin) says "Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration
from server" and "The Local Security Authority Cannot Be Contacted" (error 0x80090304)
    Aditional information
The connection via linux (remmina) works for win 7 and win 8.1, but I have no information about the encryption. It is the same with the Microsoft Remote Desktop Tool for Android.
Maybe it is accociatet with a different cert handling by Windows 8.1 but I couldn't find further information or a solution in the internet.
    Best regards
    abditus

    I solved the problem!
The default openssl certificate signature algorithm is md5RSA but it doesn't work with windows 8.1.
It is at least sha1RSA needed.
By adding "default_md = sha1" to the openssl.cnf you create certs with sha1RSA and it works fine.

  • IBook G3 and dial-up connection with OS Tiger

Hi: I have an iBook G3, 700mhz, 640 RAM, 20g HD, and have been running OS9. I´m now switching to OSX (Tiger 10.4.6). At my base location I have access to a high-speed connection, but quite frequently I must go places where there is only dial-up available. Will I still be able to connect via dial-up when I switch over to OSX and, if so, how do I configure the connection settings, etc.?
Thanks for your help and comments.

    gavik
Yes... In OS 10.x you can connect via the internal modem.eithernet ,or airport.
Apple Menu->system preferences->network -> Show (drop down menu) -> select internal modem check box.

For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal
These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the server names are: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net -and- outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
If all of that is set up and it's still not working, your best bet is to provide a screenshot of your settings (with personal information blocked/removed) and any errors you are getting.
All of that said, your IP may be blocked by Verizon. They had some issues with attacks from overseas and way overcompensated, causing issues for people even on different providers here in the US. Try getting a new public IP address (Optimum should be able to help you with this). I would love to say they're working hard to correct this nonsense, but they're entirely silent on the point since their initial announcement.
    Best of luck to you.

  • Problem to connect with OPC Server opc.sinumerik.machineswitch using DS_Open

    Hi,
I want to connect to an Siemens OPC server type opc.sinumerik.machineswitch using DS_Open calls (CVI 6.0) to read few tags. Running my client software (as well as the NI- sample test client) locally on the same computer as the server the connection works and I can access the tags.
Running the client-software on a remote PC then the DS_Open call "hangs-up" (not even an error message). All the DCOM settings etc should be ok, since I can access the tags using the Siemens Client OPC-Scout as test client.
I have used the same calls in several previous applications and it works with other servers (Bachmann, WinCC), so I am pretty sure that I use the correct URLS etc.
What can be the reason for a specific incompatibility?
    Any idea is highly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Ronald

    Hi Roland,
as experience shows, Remote DataSocket is hard to implement.
The best way to implement this communication is the following:
First of all, check the DCOM -Settings
Using OPC via DCOM with Windows XP
    http://www.opcfoundation.org/DownloadFile.aspx?RI=326
Use the “NI-OPC Server” to create a tunnel between the Siemens OPC server and your PC.
Install the NI-OPC Server on your PC and use the “OPC DA Client Driver” to access the tags on the Siemens OPC server.
After that you can access the created tags in the NI-OPC Server with CVI and DataSocket.
Please download the NI OPC Servers Evaluation-Version to test communication.

  • Can i video chat with someone on a windows pc using yahoo messenger?

hi, i am considering buying a macbook laptop and would like to know before i purchase, can i video chat with someone using a windows pc with vista os on it if we are both using yahoo messenger? if so please tell me how to set that up correctly b/c the tech support site hasnt been helpful. Also, can i plug my Logitech QuickIM or ExpressIM webcam into the usb port and the macbook pick it up and allow me to use it with yahoo messenger to video chat with? can i still use the headphone earbud that came with the webcamera also if i plug it into the headphone jack on the macbook? if so how do you do that? i know that macbook has a built in webcamera, but i like to turn the camera instead of having to turn the computer all the time to show different parts of areas, etc. in my house, etc. please help me so i will know whether or not to purchase it or not. and also, can i use microsoft outlook to check my email with on a macbook, or what email program would i need to use?
email me at [email protected] with answers please.

regarding video, yes you can do a video chat with another pc user. the pc side has to right click your name and find the "view video" (using yahoo mesenger and built in cam)
have not use audio though so i can not assure you that it would work. (but most probably it would)
as to using external cam and mic, you can try to borrow someone else cam or go to a mac store and ask for a demo
as to microsoft outlook... there is no mac version of microsoft outlook as far as i know. (correct me if im wrong) how ever you can use bootcamp and have windows installed and use your mac as if your using windows
