  • Dialing bug nokia N80

    My phone refuses to dial.
If i manually type in a number and press call it works but whenever i try to dial a number from my contacts / call log or number in a text message it does nothing as if i never pressed the button. I tried options then call and nothing again just kicks me back to the contacts page.
It has to be because of the new firmware (v 4.0632.0.38) i put on the phone because i noticed this problrm as soon as i updated.
I've taken the phone to Nokia Care Centre at least 3 times now and im always going back which i have to do again tomorrow because they are claiming it's fixed but obviously not.
They've tried reinstalling firmware, virus scanning, reformmated memory card and nothing seems to work.
I'm fed up with it and am going to ask for a replacement because im convinced this problem cannot be fixed. If it is a firmware problem then i hope it's fixed for future versions.
Has anyone witnessed the same fault as me or has any feedback or help on this problem that can assist me??

    Hi juzz18,
I have the same problem with my Nokia E60. I have no idea what to do. A few days ago I upgraded my firmware to the lastest version and no resolution at all. Tomorrow I'll go to the service center and I'll see what they'll do. The bad think is that this dialing problem happens to me absolutly chaotic, I dont know what cause it and when again I wont be able to dial. Once I have a big need to make an external call while I'm driving and my phone wont dial, and I should restart the phone, but I was driving and it was really dangerous! I hope someone to resolve that problem!

  • Shortcuts/Quick dial on Nokia 5800

I've recently purchased a Nokia 5800 and have set up 4 members of my family as the Quick Dial contact icons on the main screen.
However, when I click on a particular contact and then on the Call icon I don't get any choice over which number the phone calls - despite the fact that I have work, home and mobile numbers saved for all my contacts.
I would like to know if there is any way that you can choose which number you want to call from this screen rather than going through to the Contacts menu (as this defeats the object of having a quick dial shortcut).
Ideally I would like pressing the call button to result in a drop down list of numbers so that I can choose the most appropriate number.
Is this possible as it's always been the case on all my other Nokia's and I miss it on this new phone?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    H x

I agree that being able to dial any available number for the four favorites would be nice, it is at least possible to select which of their numbers you want to be the default. If you want to change that:
Go to Contacts, find the person
    Select Options
    Defaults
    Phone number
and choose the one you want to be the default speed-dial.

  • Disable voice dial on Nokia 6263.

I have an Australian accent, so the voice dial feature is about as useful to me as a cardboard umbrella. Unfortunately it seems that even after turning off every voice-related option I can, if I nudge, knock, brush, or even press the button on my headset to turn it off for to short a time it will decide "oh, that's a tap, he wants to voice dial".
It's worse than having a 5 year old who's just discovered how to speed dial.
I want to gut, eviscerate, eliminate, disintegrate, annihilate, and disable with extreme prejudice every jot, tittle, pinch, hint, or skerrick of support for "voice dial" in my Nokia 6263.
    Am I SOL?

Well, i have a nokia 5310, i had the same problem, call some of my contacts couple of time a day.
But my voice dialing activation key is not the volume but the clip button on the wired headphone, or the one on the top right.
I did lots of research on this, I don't how to diable this, and find it work(stop random calling my contacts) by myself if I lock the phone with a security key activated. Once the keyboard is locked, you can not dial unless you insert the security key.
<how to activate the security key>---main menu---->setting---->phones setting ----->security keyguard on------->setup your security keyguard. If you don't want to activate your security keyguard, you can turn it off any time. Also, change your security code by going to  main menu---->settting---->security---->access code---->change security code.
    Cheers!
I also have a Nokia 5310 and was having the same problem.  I found that after I reset the phone settings (menu>settings>Rest.factory sett.>Restore settings only), when voice dialing is activated, the phone activates the "train voice recognition" feature instead of actually doing any voice recognition/voice dialing.  The phone just sits there and waits for user input.  I'm not sure if the 6263 has a "train voice recognition" feature, but if it does, this may work for you.

  • Nokia 6710 smart dialing

Hi, anyone knows a good app to enable the smart dialing on nokia 6710 navigator? this is a great phone but nokia make a great mistake on leave this feature out of this device.
in my opinion this feature will be the greatest upgrade in a future firmware

Some recent Eseries phones have a similar feature that starts searching your contacts as you type, but this is quite new - perhaps in the future it will find its way down to other models, though things like this most commonly come as part of new 'feature packs' which tend to be applied to new models and not made available to older models.

  • 3120 classic offers following BT services

Bluetooth on host PC: Windows Vista BT stack in use. Vista Feature Pack for Wireless installed. Nokia Ovi Suite installed but not used in experimenting addressed in this thread. When paired Nokia 3120 classic offers to Vista host following BT services: - Dial-UP - Nokia SyncML server - Remote Control - serial interface spp COM1 - serial interface spp NOkia PC Suite - SyncML client - unknown service - unknown service - unknown service - unknown service What are the four unknown services? Which BT official profile do the two SyncML items correspond to? Does this NOkia model really not offer FTP, OPP, PIB? When using with Thoshiba stack on another PC it was possible to use FTP.
On default while pairing 5 services are selected to enable on the host Vista.
How to change the list of services to be enabled on pairing?

Dear Nokia, Do you have any idea what a driver could satisfy your stuff (please the question asked in post above please)? Otherwise, it seems to had been the best decision to say goodby to Nokia products, vendors with no control over own products and their's properties are not worth the customer's trust.

  • Using iPod touch for all my contacts

I have been using a Palm Pilot for all my contacts and notes. I want to use an iPod touch.
Question: Will I be able to dial my Nokia phone via bluetooth from my contact list, like my Palm will?
    Hope you can help,
    cant jibe

Why not just sync your contact data to your Nokia phone from the Mac? Most are supported by iSync which uses the same data source as the iPod touch. You can then dial direct from the phone, without having to use one device to dial a number on another.
Or get an iPhone and have both devices in one.

  • Nokia-C7 Missing Feature - Can't change dialer vis...

    Hi,
In the Nokia-C7 In the home screen, when selecting Call to open the Dialer, it is possible to search for a contacts immediately by pressing the numbers buttons to entering the characters that appears on them.
The language that appears on the buttons is the one that is configures as the default writing language of the phone, and there is no easy method of change the language appearing on the dialer keys, other than going to settings and modifying the writing language. (see page 35 of the Nokia-C7 user manual)
I have contacts in three languages in my Nokia-C7 (Arabic, Hebrew and English)
(NOTE: Although the dialer does not provide a way to select a different language to appear on it button, still the search provide results in all the languages that are used in the address book. So if my default writing language is English and I need to search for a contact name in Arabic or Hebrew, I either need to go to the settings to change the writing language, or I need to remember the keyboard layout to press the correct numbers).
I think there should be button that facilitate changing the language of the letters appearing on the dialer keys
I like the Nokia-C7 very much, but this is the only thing that I find missing and very annoying.
My phone firmware code is: 059B662 (Middle East)
I would be very thankful if this feature can be added ASAP.
    Thanks.

You need to ensure forward and reverse DNS lookups work for your server. There should be a record set on your DNS server, and also on your server. This is documented in the Open Directory Administration guide.

  • Nokia lumia 610 randomly dials numbers

I have a Nokia Lumia 610 and for some odd reason last two weeks it randomly dials numbers either mobile or landline.  When its sat on the kitchen table, it just dials it, more oddly it switches to loud speaker and it does it about 10-15 times same number one after another.
Switched it off and back on and for a few days its ok and then it does it again.  Anyone ever come across this and is it fixable

    Hi genpower,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Do you have a screen protector on the screen? Sometimes a screen protector can do selections on it's on, especially if it is of a lower quality. If so, try to remove the film to see if it fixes the issue.
You could try to reset your phone, which will reinstall the operating system on the phone. To reset your phone, go to settings > about > reset your phone. It is recommended to synchronise all your media files before doing this, as it will remove all user files on the phone. Please note that you will lose all your text messages in the process.
Let us know how you get on!

  • Nokia N8 landscape dial feature

    Hello,
I'm not sure if there is written everywhere else, but i have a comment to make on the new firmware for nokia n8, the 13.16.
it is known that it has the possiblility to dial a number and searh in agenda having the phone in landscape position - think of having it mounted in car holder on the windshied.
Now, after dialing in landscape mode,  once the phone is connecting, it switches automatically to portrait mode, hence is difficult to see the number you're connected to, not to mention that photo is switched ot landscape.
Same thing, on receiving calls, if phone is in landscape mode, then switches in portrait.
if i want to see who is calling me, if the phone is mounted in car holder, in landscape mode, then i have to take it out, switch to portrait... that takes time and concentration is lost.
i saw this improvement mentioned on the new firmware, but i think that this is not finished all the way down. i really think that complete feature is easy to do, specially that work is started already...
yes, i'm aware that i can place the phone in portrait mode in car mount, but then what would be the usefullness of the landscape dial possibility ?
    Have a nice day,
    Radu

I just noticed this today. When typing email, notes or other entries it seems fine but when commenting on facebook it does the double space thing. The new firmware is not available for Rogers yet... still waiting.

  • Nokia 6230i Speed-Dials

I have a Nokia 6230i and wish to set speed dials as I had on my previous phone, a Nokia 8210.
On the 8210 I could set the speed dial on all numbers 1 - 9, including the No. 1 button. By pressing the key pad No. (e.g. number 1 button) and then pressing the hash button (bottom right) the display would change and the telephone number of speed dial for button No 1 would be displayed (e.g. 0121 123 4567) prior to making the call.
I could do this with all buttons 1 - 9 and show the 'phone number for each button.
The instruction book did not show how to do this, but somehow I managed it: I've since forgotten how I did it!
I would like to have the same function on my 6230i but I cannot replicate the same conditions as my 8210. On the 6230i I can put speed dials in buttons 2 - 9 (but not in button No 1 as it defaults to 901 each time - which I don't want) but I cannot find the facility for showing the number on screen for all the 1 - 9 buttons prior to dialing. Can anybody help please?

    Go into the following Menus:

  • Control and Dial from the pc with Nokia E71

    Hi
I am looking for a software like "Nokia PC Suite"
That i can select a contact from the list and select "Dial"
It would be grate if i can open the speaker from the PC also .
Any ideas for that kind of application ?
    Thanks

PIN messages, no. PIN messaging is only between BlackBerry devices.
SMS, you can find many third party PC applications which will enable that, or services. Sometimes your mobile provider website may offer a desktop SMS interface.

  • Nokia 3650 disconnects after dialing ISP

Using the Nokia IR 6210_8xxx script, I am able to successfully establish a Bluetooth connection with my Nokia 3650, but after dialing it simply disconnects.
I can manually dial the ISP from the 3650 and listen to the handshake.
Prior to installing Tiger, I was able to do a dial-up connection using the Nokia 3650 as a modem.

Thanks Alexander and Stephen — oh that I had found Stephen's link before I got my phone to work, it might have saved me hours of fun, but as I was sitting on a remote Scottish Island, it was only after I got it to work that I could read it.
The Nokia now works perfectly on the UK's O2 service (albeit at a pitiful 9,200) and I even took half a dozen photographs with the phone, transferred them to my iBook, then sent them via the telephone attached to an e-mail.
I never discovered what the problem was other than painstakingly repeating the pairing and bluetooth dial-up settings until both the phone and the computer believed me.
The only small sensitivity I have discovered is that it is completely reliable if I put the bluetooth dongle in the USB socket with the machine switched off, then fire it up.
I know that it is slow using the phone as a modem on the GSM network, but even paying for the extra time involved, it is nowhere near as expensive as being charged at the data rates on GPRS.
