Dial-Up User Wants To Email Video Or Post Video To iWEB

Will "Final Cut Pro" give me more choices with editing my video I upload so that I can email the video using a dial-up modem connection? JPEG format???
I emailed 6MB of video I took to my brother but he said it took 3 hours for his mac to download the attachment.
I compressed the video by using the "email" format option before attaching the file to my email message....
With my 56K dial-up internet connection, Would uploads and downloads work faster if I create a webpage using iWEB or similar websites?
Where I live here in Costa Rica, I don't have other options other than the 56K dial-up internet connection....
The best option we can come up with is for me to burn my video to a disc and regular (snail) mail it to my brother and then he can play it on his TV....
My camara is the SONY 'HANDYCAM' model number DCR-HC26 and I upload my video using "EYE TV"....
Thank You,
JMICHAELJ

Yes, that's the best way to do it if you have only a 56k dial-up modem. Video creates very large files, and it'd take almost forever to email those files to your brother, or for him to download them after you've taken forever to upload them.
Use iMovie or Final Cut to create your video, then burn it onto a DVD and send that by post.
(..Final Cut Pro won't really give you any more choices. It's very expensive, but it does come with a program called 'Compressor' with does have a variety of compression options. But it's far cheaper - and simpler - to simply use iMovie and iDVD to edit your movie and burn your DVD and to send it by mail.)

  • I Want to email Video

iPhoto will only email photos, not videos.  Its too big to email from my phone.  So I figure I can email it from mail.  Try and find the video.  I imported it with iphoto and I know the file name.  Searching with finder does not find it.  Where the fanorg is it?
I thought about saving the video on the desktop, but I don't see how to do that in iphoto.
Not sure how to do this.

Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • I want to display MacBook Pro email videos on my Panasonic TV.  I bought it in Jan 2010, one article says the function is supported on mid-2010 models and later.  Think I can buy the hook ups and get this to work?

I want to display computer contents (email videos, YouTube videos) on my Panasonic HDTV.  Can a model from Jan. 2010 do this?  Thanks.

Yes, easily — but to get the audio to the TV through the same HDMI cable as the video, you'll need an adapter like the ones I linked in this thread:

  • I try to dial from contact list, but phone wants to email.

This appears to have happened by itself, but it's my wife's iPhone.
She trys to dial from her contact list, but iphone wants to email even when a phone number is touched.

Try resetting the iPhone. Hold down the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, try and see if it works. Also, can you dial a phone number and the call go through?

  • No video when emailing video clip?

I took a video on my iPhone and want to email it to a friend. I did download it to my desktop iMac. Here are the things I've already tried.
    1.  I edited the clip in iPhoto and tried to email it from there, but that is not supported.
    2.  I then exported the clip to the desktop, drug the file to my email and it was completely blank (no video or sound).
    3.  I imported it into iMovie, trimmed the clip, finished the project & then shared it to the media browser. I opened a new email, added the file from the media browser, and I have sound and a still picture.
    4.  I've exported as a quicktime project and the clip plays in quicktime fine, but when I go to email it I have a still photo with sound.
Please, what am I doing wrong?
    Kristy
    I have iPhoto '11 & iMovie '11

Still thinking about it Kristy - not sure of the solution yet.
As a test, I just dragged a movie clip from iTunes onto the Desktop. The clip was sent to me by my daughter and was taken on her iPhone 4. I dragged the clip into a new message in Mail and it plays perfectly.
So, I'm not sure what's happening with your system. What email program are you using (I'm on Apple Mail)? As the movie clip plays fine in QuickTime, possibly it's the email app that's causing the problem. Can you try using a different program?

  • Automatically Assign to user based on email

    Hi Guys
One of our IT managers would like to be able to have service requests automatically assigned to members of his team based on emails he sends.
At the moment we have an exchange connector set up that logs Service Requests for his team, and assigns it to the their support group. I'm trying to figure out the best way to further refine it to then assign it to a support person based on some criteria
within the email itself. The way i figure it, I'll need to to do it via Orchestrator.
    I'm thinking something like:
Email generated Service Request triggers a runbook, that either pulls the email attachment out of the SR and then does (something) to resolve the AD User from the CC field and assigns it to that person. Then he can just CC the team member and it will assign
it. The hard bit is figuring out how to resolve an AD user from a field in a *.eml file.
    or
He types the AD name of the user on say line 1 of the email, then orchestrator reads that line and looks up the AD user based on that. Seems easy enough but then he will need to make sure he uses either the absolutely correct spelling of their name, or type
    their SAMAccountName out.
By email CC field is the more user friendly option but I have no idea if that's even possible.
Does anyone have any thoughts about how to go about this?
    Cheers

OK so he has changed his request now after I spoke to him.
He now wants any emailed service request to be automatically assigned to the sender.
So basically I need to create a runbook to set the Assigned To user to be the same as the Affected User.
Sounded easy enough, but the "assigned to" field is not present in the orchestrator update object action. I think this is now a question for the Orchestrator forum so i'll mark this off and start a new thread there.
    Thanks.

  • Live CD for newbies and dial up users

From comments I am receiving abut the usage of AL-AMLUG Live CD, it helps <b>newbies</b> to install the native Arch Linux in HDD. Without any "headage" it does all the major configures (X, sound, network, and LILO) for you. The "<b>hd-install</b>" includes Hwd (hardware detect) and net-install with DHCP & ADSL setup.
Does sounds good for a newbie? Anything good also include a "but...". Disadvantage with hd-install, in my opinion, you will miss the learning of Arch Linux's configure system what you may need for post configure of new hardwares and programs..... sooner or later you have to become an Archer
The live CD is also for the "<b>dial up users</b>" with 56k modems, when the packages in Arch Linux's latest installer CD getting outdated. Example, AL 0.5 was released July 21, 2003. The current live CD 0.4.2 with the base, KDE and common packages updated on February 12, 2004.
    http://amlug.net/new-projects/live-cd/p … list-0.4.2
GNOME users may not be happy. For your information, there is still 280MB space on the live CD for more packages. Total space: 1.3GB (compressed to 700MB).

    beniro,
after week of not even touching this thread i still have to say that i fail to see what is derogatory in my comments. derrogatory is where you put down something for the sake of putting something down.  i  hardly ever do something like that. i may be blunt but hardly ever derrogatory.
look in the mirror? i have done that alot i have looked in the mirror i have tried to understand the way some people came to the conclusioned they did about me. perhaps i a m blind or stupid but when have i ever not tried to get something positive for the community? when i look in that mirro i see someone who put alot of time and effort into helping the community with problems. i see somebody that where ever they have gone always express what they feel despite what blowback may happen. i don't believe in bottling things up. in the end though all people see is the negative.
    nifan,
there are lots of ways to help a friend out installling any distro. but in the end if you don't know the guts then expect things to go bad at some point. linux is not designed for someone who just wants the computer to do everything. indeed if linux were like that then there would be a whole host of security risks presented.
as for me slamming arch. well if you didn't notice i having only been too willing to always air out arch's dirty laundry.  i have been harping on the documentation and so have many others. should those others move on too while the developers/community continue to bury their heads in the sand and feel they can keep marching on? if somebody didn't do who would and where would arch be then?
i am here EVERYDAY. EVERYDAY since i joined this forum. i have asked and answered questions, i contributed on the irc channel, i worked for the distro everyday for almiost a year. i know what was going what went on. i still point out some thigns to aid the developers. in the end my view of kiss   never really strayed from the documented version of arch's kiss statement  and i felt arch had and was continuing to. there were just too many small things that bothered me and i decided to use another distro.
now that i have moved on though i needed something to keep my desire to help occupied and crux does not have a forum nor can i help out that much on irc because it is distro mainly used by europeans and our clock are just not synced. i still know arch fiarly well and actually crux is very similar so why not help. i have nothing against the community.
why do i get bitter then. well to beat dead horse. i try to help or try to voice an opinion and the response i commonly get back a tirade against my person.  now it is at the point now where some people do not  or refuse to see any constructive or helpful posts i make here.  take al ook at rasat he is someone who has been the victim of many a criticism from me and he never once made any insults towards me nor did he ever not put the blinders on to what i was saying. after nearly a year of taking the odd jab from me he still knows exactly why make the comments towards his projects i do.
in the end i don't really care what he does as his work does bring people to the arch community. i just try and make sure that he can design his projects in such a way as to not create a pile of mindless users that need their hand held through everything.  from what i remember of early versions of hwd for example he made it still a very hands on approach for the user. ultimately that is what  i wanted him to hear and he did.
if you don't think that the system taking control of your work environment is a burden on the community take a look at just how much help we need to give here and on the mail list. if people had come from a more hands on environment they would rarely have to use irc, forums or mail lists. linux is  hard to get used to because it is desigened to be hands on sytem and anyone who does not want this should really not be using it. thats mean but true. with ease comes security risks.
belive me i am lazy i came from the least hands on distro before arch and i would NEVER go back to distro not like arch or crux or ... i have learned alot and there is very few issues i cannot figure out. arch's kiss approach taught me alot and crux has brought me back to it.
in the end i am here to help and if you doubt that then well you just should not bother with any of my posts because i WILL piss you off eventually whether i am trying to or not.

  • How to email video clips?

I have made a short video on iMovie. Right now the video is ready in the upper left section of iMovie. If I were to make a dvd, I would click SHARE to iDVD, but I would like to email the video to a client, rather than make a dvd. What is the best way to email video clips to a client?
    Thanks

    *best practice* :
    • 'share' your Project to YouTube
    • mail the URL to that YT-video to client
=> you avoid problems with size (=video is huge)/Bandwidth probs, and 'formats' (=YT is by sheer popularity 'standard'). You can set your Video at YT to 'Private', so only your client is able to watch it. meanwhile, YT allows superb quality ..-
    not-so-good practice:
under Share, Export using Quicktime and the following Option-dialogs allow tons of options to convert and 'shrunk' the video. depending on, what your IP allows about mail-attachement's sizes, you can play with the 'knobs' format/codec, frame-rate, size, to make the video small enough - for the price of quality and compatibility. ex, Windows users often have problems with h264.mov ...

  • How to email video?

How can I email a video?  You cannot do it out of iPhoto.  Yes, I can save it to My Gallery and email a link, but I want to email a video that my camera took to someone.  I use a DSLR camera and videos and photos all upload into IPhoto. IPhoto allows you to Share a video to Facebook.  Why can't I Share email a video?  Am I missing something obvious?

A lot of ISPs put a maximum file limit on attachments; a video may be larger than that. Additionally, not everyone has the bandwidth to download huge files like that without a hassle.
So, before emailing a video, check your own ISP to see if there are limits and also check with your recipient. And, it would be better if you uploaded it somewhere for your friends to see - doesn't have to be Facebook.

  • Emailed video tries to open in PDF format

When I try to open an emailed video attachment, it defaults to the PDF reader app (and obviously won't play)
If I delete the PDF app it shows the Quicktime logo but is frozen & won't open.
    I have iOS4 with wifi & 3G. Help!!

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Emailed Video from 3GS only playing in portrait

I have been taking video in landscape mode on 3GS and then emailing video. The attached video only plays in portrait even though I filmed in landscape. How do I fix this?
    Thanks

Seeing the same problem here as well. Will shoot video in landscape (camera shutter button on the right in landscape view); and then either watching the video on the iPhone or after sending off the video, it plays in portrait and NOT landscape.
This is annoying when trying to watch a landscape video taken on the 3GS. If you turn the phone 90º to view it as you shot it, the video rotates on the iPhone. Turn it back to portrait, then it goes to landscape. Try to quickly compensate by rotating the iPhone now that it's in the view you want it, and it rotates to portrait again.
VERY annoying. Landscape videos can be watchable in "Edit" view (sometimes), but it just doesn't seem to be working right.

  • Email Video taken from iPhone 3GS

I have the iPhone 3GS, I can import the video into iPhoto 09 and view the clips using quicktime, but I want to email the video, the email link is grayed out, and the email button on the bottom is grayed as well. The only way to email, is to drag to desktop and then attach to the email?
    Thank you.

That's correct. The only way to email a video s to export it using the File -> Export *Kind: Original* command and then email it.

    Hi All,
Can Lync 2013 works as IVR (Auto-attendant) for dialing lync users?
We want to migrate IVR from Nortel to Lync 2013. PSTN users call auto.attendant for dialing Lync users instead to dialing 1 for sales, etc?

    Hi,JOSE,
There are two types of Response group, one is IVR group and the other is hunt group,if you would like to route the callers to a special queue without asking any question then you can use the hunt group, otherwise you can use the IVR group.
