Diary-Function for iCal

Hi!
Since one year I use iCal - and I like it. This year (2011) I want to fill in some diary /journal (?) / Agenda (?) - entries for each day, but I don't know how.
My "private" solution by now: I created a calendar called "journal" and type each day in the header of a whole-day-event in telegram-style.
But I think, that Apple has to offer me a better way.
I hope you will understand my question and forgive me my bad english.

I agree that iCal is not suited for a diary function, but there are some third party solutions available. Here are some of your choices:
1. Mémoires - journal or diary software for Mac
2. MacJournal | Mariner Software

ICal Error: "No virtual host found for iCal Service" - Help!

Trying to set up iCal on OS X Server 10.5.6
Server is up and running and successfully providing web services on its FQDN. Server is not currently used to support network users / services, but as and when it does it will be the Master Opendirectory server.
I have created a couple of test accounts on the server (simply in the Users group) and enabled both for Calendar Access.
I have provided the details of the FQDN on the iCal page, and checked that the default port (8008) has been opened in the firewall.
In web services there is one virtual domain (using name based virtual server) and the default domain in operation. Both appear to be functioning as would be expected.
When I click on 'start service' for iCal, I get this error.
"No virtual host found for iCal service"
I cannot find any information about this in iCal manual, or online documentation. Can anyone here provide pointer to where this information is, or what it means?
Would be most grateful.

Is there "To Do" functionality in iCal 5.0 If So ... how?

Wondering if there is a "To Do" function within iCal 5.0 that I'm missing. I would find it very beneficial and have to believe I'm just not finding it.

You need to use the search function for this question in this forum. There are many many threads on how to get this running.
First - download and read all the Apple SLS server docs.
Second - run by Barnes and Noble and pick up a copy of SLS - Developer Reference. (I have no affiliation)
Concerning the iPhone.
Forget it.

Edit: After reading this again, it appeared to me that I was sounding like an a$$. Sorry. It was not intended that way.
However, the forum does have numerous threads on how to get push working for iCal on 10.6 clients. It does work and it works quite well for me on my network. Pay particular attention to the order you setup your SLS. DNS must function without errors. You must have an OD master to authenticate users against. Mail services must be enabled to use external invites.
Alot of these services rely on web based protocols and it's "push" features are built around XMPP PubSub protocol which means you must have a working iChat server configured and running and web services running. SSL is needed for most of it.
If you are new to SLS (or Mac server in general) it is worth every single penny of $25 for one month of lynda.com. They have a few Mac OS Server lessons in their library.
As for the iphone - please don't start this one again. It doesn't work. There is no built in OTA sync service agent in the iphone OS. Wait for iPhone 4.0 like the rest of us.

Please don' make us wait... it's time for ICAL iPhone task integration

With many app developers having great success with task/to do list, isn't time (or way past time) for Apple to allow tasks, via iCal, to flow to the iPhone and push technology to prompt users of important things to do, at a certain time? I am very busy like many other mac users, and I don't want to litter my calendar with many, time sensitive, todos. Beside,s other to-do apps would be able to offer customers up to date functionality with iCal task support.
Please don't make us wait any longer.

Sorry. I found some other advice that solved the problem ere I saw your response.
The advice was:
Go to Finder. Holding "Option" key, find Library in "Go" pull down menu. In Library. Select Calendars. To desktop, drag all files with the word "cache." Then go to Preferences (still in Library) and drag to desktop "com.apple.ical.plist". Restart. Now Calendar is working perfectly, and rechecking under Library, the caches files and the com.apple.ical.plist that were dragged to the desktop have reappeared in Calendars and Preferences.

iCal is designed for personal use, and isn't really meant to handle this sort of situation.
The best suggestion I can offer, though it's a trifle untidy, is: create a calendar for each therapist, giving each a different colour. Enter the availability for each therapist - if it's on a weekly basis you can make them repeating events. Then add the individual appointments, which will show alongside in the daily view. In this example, the 'purple' therapist is available from 1030 to 1700 and has appointments at 1200 and 1500.
If you have more than a few therapists available at any one time it's liable to look a bit messy, but it's the best I can think of at the moment.

BI IP --- Planning function for File Upload

In BI IP , When I am trying to load the data (text file) by using Planning function for File Upload. I am getting an error message When I am clicking on Update .
Error Message : Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: <unknown>, value <unknown>).
In Text file I am using Tab Separation for each value
Anyone help me out.

Try one of these; it should work:
1. If you are on SP 14 you would need to upgrade to SP 15. It would work fine
2. If not, then -
a] apply note 1070655 - Termination msg CL_RSPLFR_CONTROLLER =>GET_READ_WRITE_PROVIDS
b] Apply Correction Instruction 566059 [i.e: in Object - CL_RSPLFR_CONTROLLER GET_READ_WRITE_PROVIDS,
delete the block: l_r_alvl = cl_rspls_alvl=>factory( i_aggrlevel = p_infoprov ).
and insert block - l_r_alvl = cl_rspls_alvl=>factory( i_aggrlevel = i_infoprov ).

I use the RH_ShowHelp API command to connect a HTML Help file
(.chm file generated by RoboHelp Word X 5) to my Visual C++
application. My application is able to call up this HTML help file
in context-sensitive mode and everything is working great in the
Contents and Index panels EXCEPT when I click on List Topics (after
I enter a KEYWORD for search) in the Search panel.
I got an error that said “Unhandled exception in
xxxx.exe.(HHCTRL.OCX):0xC00000FD: Stack overflow”
I am able to execute this .chm file by itself and the search
function works well in this case. I am using HHActiveX.dll that is
created on 2/23/04. Is this the correct version?? Any advice what
to do here??

Hi agschin and welcome to the RH forums. The hhactivex.dll
file is not used by the search function so you can rule that our.
Have you tried recompiling and seeing if the problem still happens?
You can also start the Bug Hunter feature in RH - View > Output
View and then select the Bug Hunter button - and see if that throws
up any clues.

Hi Arnab,
The expression is checked only for the current MDM session.
If u login with the ABC language it will always show the ABC language no matter how many times u execute it.
Try connecting to the DM with the XYZ language.
It should go to the if part rather than else.

"My Day" widget for iCal?

Hi--
I'm about ready to give up on Office and switch to iWork, but the one feature that is (perhaps stupidly) holding me back is Entourage's brilliant "My Day" widget:

Is there something out there for iCal that will display my upcoming calendar events and undone tasks in a single, concise window? I need something that will "live" at the edge of my screen and won't require me to switch applications to see what's coming next on my calendar....
