Dictation works not working

There are a lot of phrases that are supposed to make key commands possible with dictation, that do not work. Such as caps lock, caps, and the @ sign, often does not work. Sometimes the @ sign works, though... But caps NEVER works.
Are there any others, and are there any fixes?

One day I tried to dictate a note and discovered the microphone was grayed out. As someone suggested I did a hard reset of my iPhone 4S and that didn't solve the problem.
Then I had an epiphany. I use the Notes app a lot and have a lot of Notes stored in the app. I tried deleting some of my many notes and "viola!" the microphone is black again. My guess is the app has some kind of storage limit and when you hit that limit, the microphone is automatically turned off. Anyway, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

dictation is not working when i turn on the dictation and then press fn key twice in any text area the 3 lights are just blinking and it is closed...

Quick Questions:
Is your internal microphone working?
Are you hitting the "fn" key once after finishing dictation?
When you are finished dictating and the dictation feature closes down do you hear a single beep or two?
Also, go to System Preferences> Dictation and check if the microphone icon is illuminating in a variable fashion as you speak.

Microphone works but dictation does not work

My dictation software was working fine then suddnely not so much. I have ensured it has been enabled, I have selected automatic detection as the default, I have choesen the internal microphone as the default, I have chosen the external microphone as the default, I have even deleted the
file://localhost/Users/williams/Library/Preferences/com.apple.assistant.plist file and rebooted, tested my internal and external microphones through the system preferences dictation setup (both register as working while in dictation preferences as indicated by the microphone symbol responding to sound), I've ensured the language was set to english (US) and closed all other programs.
Once the dication command is selected the microphone pops up and viola no response as if the microphone is no longer working!!! I am sooo much more productive with the speech to text function and really need it back. Anyone with any new/additional suggestions will be most welcome and I appreciate the help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Enhanced dictation does not work. I've tried everything. Any help?

Hello everybody. After downloading enhanced dictation (spanish-spain), the microphone seems to be Ok but no word is written. Regular online dictation works well. I use a mac-mini i7 16Gb and a micro connected to an external audio card firewire. I've tried to delete and download again several times, to clean the cache, turn on-off with resets,.. but nothing seems to fix the problem. Dictation is important for me to work and I'd like to try with enhanced dictation because I've read that it improves the performance with respect to online dictation.
I've empoyed such a lot of time looking for a solution in the support community and other forums but nothing worked.
Could anybody help me.

Ok, I reply to myself.
The problem was caused by the microphone and the firewire connection. Enhanced Dictation is not ready to work with my audio hardware (micro Shure and Presonus audio card via Firewire). Although this audio hardware works fine with other software and even with online dictation, when I use it with Enhanced Dictation, the system seems to be working (the micro bars of the microphone in the screen move ok) but no words are written at all.
The solution was to connect it analogically, using an audio connection between my audio card and the line-in connection of the mac mini (stereo).
Hope Apple will solve this problem. I guess many people probably are having the same problem, mainly people with pro audio cards. I hope that this will help them

Keyboard dictation function not working with wifi

very curious thing happening. the 'mic' icon activated dictation function
is not working in wifi mode on my iphone at home. you get the dancing
balls and no text ever appears. in 4g mode dictation works fine. wifi seems to be working
ok. dictation on my wifi only ipad is ok. only tried this at home but since
wifi seems to work ok i have no reason to believe
that wifi is the issue.

I tried rebooting mine twice and it didn't work. I disabled Siri, then enabled Siri and it worked temporarily. I had to repeat disable/enable of Siri serval times over the course of the day, seemingly at least an hour apart before it seemed to work. Even now there seems to be a bit of a lag between when I speak and when it types, but it does work finally.

IPhone 4S keyboard dictation does not work - associated with Siri?

I have not been able to get the built-in iPhone 4S keyboard dictation to work. I talk into it, then tap "Done", then the phone "thinks" for a few seconds (the purple dots pulse and I see the network icon on the top bar spinning) and then nothing happens. The screen I was typing on comes back with nothing added.
Probably not coincidentally, I can't get Siri to work now either - she is "sorry, having trouble connecting to the network."
I've rebooted my phone and even reset the network settings, which doesn't help. I'm surprised the network would be so congested before 9 AM eastern USA time.
So, my question is, does the keyboard dictation tool go through the same network as Siri? Is this why it's not working?
FWIW, I got Dragon Dictation to work fine.
I think it's questionable design to make keyboard dictation work only with a network connection. I can understand this with Siri but not with ordinary keyboard dictation. It's a lot of overhead to go back and forth over the server if you are just dictating text.

My problem is similar with a variation. Siri is working fine. The dictation feature, however, has suddenly stopped working (and I was so excited about it when I started using it - and I haven't used it that much). I don't have text enabled, by the way, so I can't use Frank's suggestion above.
I have a 4-bar 3G connection (I live in Wilmington, NC - the town where my provider has its HQ, so the connection is not the issue). However, when I attempt to use the dictation feature, all I get is a spinning wheel next to the 3G icon and 3 pulsing purple dots, which don't stop until I hit the Home button or some other key. The dictated text never materializes. This makes me quite sad and frustrated. Up until now, I have been unequivocally in love with my IPhone 4S, and I want to be completely in love with it again.
I'd really appreciate a helpful solution.
**An update - Siri can take the dictation that I wanted to use with the microphone icon (she just wrote up a note for me, for example), but I really want to be able to go straight to the application and hit the microphone icon, to use fewer words/keystrokes, etc.

Are commands within dictation not working fully? Is there a list of valid commands you can use to work in dictation? I can't figure out how to delete text and it will not let me start a new paragraph or a new line in a word document.
I am running ML, dictation is enabled and running.

You can create a new line by saying new line. Speak punctuation and it will by entered. You can also say all caps and all caps off to turn caps on/off. You can't delete text as you are dictating it.
There are a few others too, like if you say smiley face it will type :-). I don't know if there is an official list, but if you search online you may be able to find one.

Caps Dictation Commands Not Working Anymore

I used to be able to say "all caps" and have dictation capitalize the following word or say "caps on" and have dictation capitalize the first letter of each word. Recently it started just typing out all caps or caps on. This leads me to believe it's recognizing my words correctly but not recognizing them as commands. Anyone else having this issue or have thoughts on a solution?

Well, yes and no...
Yes, they are separate in that dictation lives on some devices w/o Siri. But not the other way around. I.e. On my iPhone 4S, there's a single switch in Settings>Siri which is on or off.
If you turn Siri off, the dictation mic icon in the keyboard is gone. Dictation is turned off as a system-wide option. You can still use a speech-to-text app such as Dragon to dictate.
I believe that it was revealed that Nuance was involved in the speech recognition engine that runs both Siri and the iOS dictation.
But I'm with you: I used the free Dragon dictation app for almost two years on my iPhone 4. And while like you, I like it, it's no where near as convenient as having dictation in any place the keyboard appears.
I spent a lot of time with the highest level of Apple support last time, when turning Siri off & on fixed the problem with the caps (and spaces) commands in dictation. Not this time. And I did lose some of the training.

USB working, not working, working?

i own a 2008 Mac Pro and have some problems with my USB Ports. I tried to find information on the internet but i was not able to solve the problem. I did everything from smc Reset to Parameter Ram Reset, Installing a New System, Reinstalling the Combo Update but nothing worked at long sight.
The trouble is, that some external USB Devices do not work on some of my USB Ports at my MAC Pro. Yesterday for example my original Apple Keyboard which was attached to the USB Hub at my DELL Screen stopped working while other devices still did their work. I plugged off all devices and tried different USB Ports and got the Keyboard to work on another port but afterwards my mouse did not work any more. The same problem occurs with my external WD passport USB Drive, my Iomega REV Drive and any other device. Some USB Ports work, some do not work. Some only work when they want to. The external WD USB drive used to be plugged into the front USB ports, where it worked perfectly until some months ago. I had to use another USB Port to get it to work but it also stopped working with the HDD some time later. Both of the Ports still work with my Ipod or Iphone but not with the HDD or other devices. I also tried to use a powered USB Hub which did not solve the problem on long sight. After setting a brand new leopard system, the WD HDD worked on one of the front usb ports but stopped doing so some time later.
Can anyone help me with this issue? I am really desperate and annoyed ... i do not understand why this expensive machine does not work as it should.

There are two modes of SRST - SRST itself (1) and Unified CME in SRST mode (2). Mode (2) provides more features for call-processing. Mode (1) is a bit simplier to configure.

FaceTime worked not working on Mac Air

FaceTime is not working on Mac Air version 10.9.4. Was working fine before. When logging in with Apple ID it will not Verify. Seems like it is corrupt. I can't reinstall app because when I throw it in the trash I get a message "FaceTime can't be modified or deleted because its required by OS X".

Email working not working

I've noticed from the status page bt is showing email login issues as solved, is it still addressing issues this whole fiasco haso brought about?
Yes I can get into my account now....but that's about it.
No emails since Friday night apart from bt apology email.
Cannot get ipad, I phone to work at all, they don't fault out on password issue as before just not sending or recieving.
I have just managed in the last 10-15 mins to send myself a test email from one account to another which I can see if I of into my email via bt website., but these are not available on I pad or iphone only if I log into website, so 1 out of my 3 is back so I'm really hoping they don't think it's all fixed and have stopped working on the issues seems tho it says resolved.....it's quite clearly not .
Usually I would of had maybe 40-60 emails in 1 of my accounts, and there's nothing even when I log on via website so there's something clearly not working....cominon bt get announcements up on the forum stop making people have to write posts like this keep us informed.

My email account is still not working and I have just about had enough with the idiots at BT. It's been 12 days now and not once have I received anything close to constructive assistance with fixing whatever the problem is at BT's end. So far as I am concerned BT is now in breach of its contract with me in so far as continuation and quality of service is concerned. I bitterly regret renewing the annual phone line contract and will not do so again with this shambolic entity.

Worker not working on android device.

I'm trying to build multithreaded app for mobile but my initial test showed something like this:
on desktop emulator:
WorkerDomain.isSupported returns true and everything is working fine.
same app on device (htc one x and nexus 7):
WorkerDomain.isSupported returns true but
WorkerDomain.current.createWorker(new WorkerSWF()) returns null and as a result worker.createMessageChannel(Worker.current) throws an error.
In both cases Capabilities.version = "AND 11,4,400,252"
Am I doing something wrong?

Adobe Reader does support 'Submit' button in forms. There are two ways to achieve the same:
Button action to submit an entire PDF document via email. You can add the same while creating the form by following these steps:
Add the "Submit a form" action to your Submit button.
Enter "mailto:" (including a colon) followed by email recipient(s).
Select "PDF The complete document".
