Did 2.1 fix anything?

I've posted several times about the recurring slideshow module bugs that were introduced with 2.0, and weren't fixed for 2.1. The cropping bug wasn't fixed, either. When I select an image to crop in 2.1, it will often revert to the ratio that I used with the previous photo.
Both of these bugs are extremely annoying.
Just wondering: what DID 2.1 fix?
I'm using LR on an Intel Mac with OS X 10.5.5.

> In other words, no.
Noted in that post was this link:

In that link is this info:
New in Lightroom 2.1
The goal of this release is to address several bugs that were introduced with the release of Lightroom 2.0 and provide additional camera raw support. A comprehensive list of issues fixed in this release is included below:
Stability and High Severity Bugs - Fixed
Lightroom could crash when switching to or from the web module on Windows Vista 64.
Selecting a custom camera profile or using auto-white balance could cause a spinning ball.
Preference files pointing to missing catalogs could prevent Lightroom from progressing past the registration dialog.
Errors could occur when attempting to create a virtual copy with a computer that has a processor that is not SSE2 enabled. (This is a method of delivering instructions to the processor which was introduced with the Pentium 4 processor. It should not have affected a significant number of modern machines.)
Modal dialogs could try to appear on a disabled second monitor, causing Lightroom to appear hung or unresponsive.
When a DNG file was selected for export to a derivative TIFF file and it is added to the catalog at export there was a possibility that one of the files could be treated as a sidecar within Lightroom such that deleting one file deletes both.
Performance Bugs - Fixed
Attempting to import a large number of images that already exist within the Lightroom catalog could cause significant performance delays.
The image counts that appear next to each folder could appear to populate slowly.
Lightroom scanned the calibration profile directory excessively when switching collections.
The 'three dot' indicator in the grid view persisted longer than necessary.
The Mac 64-bit version did not have SSE2 optimization, causing reduced rendering speeds.
Memory leaks in the Library and Develop modules decreased Lightroom performance.
Applying keywords via presets or on import could greatly decrease import performance.
Folder synchronizing could experience significant performance decreases.
Keywords and Metadata - Fixed
Keywords from Lightroom 1.4 were not included on image export by default. (Please note that catalogs upgraded from Lightroom 1.4 using Lightroom 2.1 will not have this issue, but catalogs upgraded from
1.4 using 2.0 will still need to use the script posted at our technical support site at: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb405074.)
Lightroom stopped rendering previews prior to completion on files with metadata changes applied by other applications.
The "Any Searchable Field" search option did not find caption text.
Photoshop Interop - Fixed
Edit in Photoshop did not work correctly or at all for some customers.
Copyright Status and Info URL fields were not transferred when a file was created from Lightroom for use in Photoshop.
XMP metadata from the IDimager application was not carried over during an Edit in Photoshop operation.
Files with an ampersand in the file name were not added back to the Lightroom Library after an Edit in Photoshop session.
Choosing to Edit in Photoshop from a folder with an apostrophe in the name would cause the feature to fail.
Certain NEF files were rotated incorrectly when opened into Photoshop from Lightroom.
Miscellaneous Troubling Items - Fixed
Re-importing missing photos from an exported catalog could ignore the setting 'preserve old settings as virtual copy.'
Choosing to undo a slider adjustment in Lightroom on Windows would cause two undo steps to occur if the slider was still under active mouse selection.
Lights Out mode could flicker on Windows when the detail panel was selected in the Develop module.
The crop aspect ratio could revert to the last selected ratio even when it had been reset to original.
The spot tool might not switch from clone to healing mode upon request if the brush was above a certain size.
Certain ORF files were not read by Lightroom.
During import and conversion to DNG, file renaming could use the operating system's date stamp rather than the files EXIF date.
Panoramic images printed with a portrait layout and utilizing the auto layout functionality would cause images to print at a low resolution.

I have an iphone 4 and the screen is jumpy and after a liitle while the colors change, has anyone else had this happen and what did you do (if anything) to fix it?

    Read: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4436
It is pretty short so here is the entire text:
    Symptoms
A purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture.
    Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.
Which is exactly what eelw wrote.

  • Did the 1.3 update fix anything for anyone?

    Hi all,
Until this evening I had a 'freezer' 24" iMac (i.e an iMac that froze constantly with video problems) and as it was new have just returned it to my local Apple store and replaced it.
I've re-installed Leopard (clean install) and my apps but now Software Update is bleating at me about "iMac Software Update 1.3". Given threads on these pages and others I am extremely hesitant about installing it.
Has 1.3 actually fixed anything for anybody or am I better of staying clear until further updates come along?
    All opinions appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Steve

I've left the update uninstalled for the same reason. I haven't updated anything since I installed Leopard since I just don't trust these updates. While my computer is not 100% stable I can live with it as it is and I don't want things to get as annoying as some other poor folks are experiencing.
I'd say unless Apple release a "iMac freezing solution update" that is proved to be effective you and I will both be ignoring Software update.

  • Does "repair disk" or boot from OS fix anything even if nothing wrong found?

My mac was freezing a lot lately, and when I did "verify disk" it told me something like it needed to be repaired and booted from the OS dvd.
so I did that, and did "repair disk", but it found nothing wrong.
so I just restored everything from my time machine backup.
should this process have fixed anything or should I expect nothing has changed?

You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files.
    Combo updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - 1.09 GB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
MORE INFO ON WHY RUNNING COMBO FIXES ISSUES
Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install. So if you think you've got a borked 10.6.8 install from a regular update, just run the 10.6.8 Combo Updater on that system.
"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.6.7 to 10.6.8. If somehow the 10.6.8 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.6.7 and 10.6.8 it will still be stale after the delta update.

You did the wrong things. In the future it's a good idea to remember not to do something when you don't know what you are doing and what happens when you do it.

  • Did the update fix

did the update fix the port 3689, and does apple tv still drop from the device list in itunes.

A reinstall of itunes fixed the port issues but ATV still doesn't show up in my device list.

  • Did the update fix audio clicks on export?

I'm aware of the problems with Lion and audio clicks while exporting from FCP X.  Did the update fix this problem? I want to upgrade to Lion but not if it's going to screw up the project I'm working on currently.

For me, it seems its fixed...

  • How do I delete MacKeeper off my Harddrive? I downloaded the software and did a 'trial' fix (cleaning) but never signed up for a license. (Do I need to delete the software if I never subscribed yet to any use of it, and if so, how?)

How do I delete MacKeeper off my MacBook Pro Harddrive? I downloaded the software and did a 'trial' fix (cleaning) but never signed up for a license for full use. Do I need to delete the software if I never subscribed yet to any use of it, and if so, how?

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" is a scam with only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
If you have incompletely removed MacKeeper—for example, by dragging the application to the Trash and emptying—then you'll have to reinstall it and start over.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Restart the computer.
☞ Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
☞ Don't empty the Trash. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
☞ Don't try to drag the MacKeeper Dock icon to the Trash.

  • Did Yosemite 10.10.1 fix anything?

I upgrade to 10.10.1 and haven't noticed any improvement in ANYTHING!! Quirky behavior in back-to-my-mac, wifi issues, remote desktop issues, name changes, lag time in preferences, time machine issues, etc etc etc.
Did apple hire Microsoft Vista testers?

UPDATE: Solved Wifi issue with MBA 2013... so far!
    Hardware:
    MBA 2013
    Clearwire Clear Spot 4G Apollo
ISSUE: after Yosemite update (and 10.10.1 update) wifi connection continuously dropped and reconnected.  No issues before Yosemite.
I was able to test using several wifi networks, which other than being a little slower than expected, all worked with no connecting issues.
Attempted fixes: All the standard ones found in this forum and other places (ie. delete network settings and preferences.  Delete and recreate wifi network with new name... the list goes on.)  Some very temporarily seemed to solve the issue... only to see it return after a few quick surfing sessions.
SOLVE: (at least for now... I'll update this every 24 hours for the next few days)
While in an in-depth conversation with high level Apple tech Scott... I learned that deleting the wifi preferences and settings files wasn't all the files related to wifi connection.  Keychain holds the wifi passwords.
I then changed the settings in my modem to not require a password.  It connected after asking me "this network previously was protected by a password.  Are you sure you want to join it?"  (or something along those lines)  I agreed and was connected without any drop offs... Yah!!!
After a few hours of success, I changed it to WPA2 passworded (same question box popped up, I agreed)... connect with no issues... Yah again!!!
AFTER 24 HOURS:  Still successfully connected!!!
NOTE:  I believe this issue is caused by a corrupted keychain entry.  Apples help forum shows other high level network techs have notice this issue too.
I'm assuming that just deleting the keychain related to this wifi connection would accomplish the same results.  You would just need to re-enter the wifi password.
Watch for updates every 24 hours for the next few days... any feedback would be great.  Let me know if this helped your issue.

  • ITunes will not open, get error message 7(windows error 126) this application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem. well i did and did not fix anything.

this application has failed to start because d3d8thk.dll could not be found. I looked that file up and it seems its part of directx. i installed directx again but that still did not help.

    d3d8thk.dll
That one is a DirectX 8 module and might not be included in the most recent DirectX 9 redistributable available from Microsoft. If it's been installed as part of a partial DirectX 8 install (as part of a game for example), that can cause the issue. Can you track down a full DirectX 8 redistributable? If so, if you install that, does that clear up the iTunes error?

  • Why did Safe Mode fix Mail?

As somebody that likes to try and be as dependent on others as little as possible, and also someone who wants to understand how things work...I have a question.
When OSX updated to 10.10.3, my Apple Mail stopped working. Mac support had me start the computer in Safe Mode and open Mail. It opened fine in safe mode (I could no longer talk with the guy by this point, since we were using web chat). What surprised me was I didn't alter anything. I just opened the app, closed it, rebooted into normal mode, and now Mail works fine again.
What exactly happened by booting into Safe Mode? Why did that fix it when I changed nothing?

Hard to say. If you look at Safe Mode and read about what it does, then you may have clues. Certain user-installed items don't run in safe mode and caches are replaced in safe mode. Today I came across this article: Fix Mail crashing after upgrading to Yosemite | MacIssues.
But the important thing is to see if Mail continues to work when you reboot normally since you cannot go on operating in safe mode forever. If Mail continues to work, then I would bet on a cache related issue.

  • TS3988 I can't sign in to my iMac iCloud acct. because it locked me out after several attempts to enter the password. Said to reset ID/password. I did, didn't fix the problem.

My iMac, early 2008 24", operating system Yosemite; I tried to fix a communication problem between Apple devices on iCloud. I have iCloud and iCloud Drive. The problem is with iCloud. I attempted to enter my password but apparently too many times. I received the following message: You can’t sign in because your account was disabled for security reasons. It then directed me to iforgot.apple.com to change password/ID. I did, completed the process but it did not release the security lock out from the iCloud in my Preferences. I did this at least five times. Please identify a way to unlock the security system so I can now enter iCloud on my iMac.

I have the same problem. This happens multiple times a day. I answer some questions and then unlock my account and then before long it all happens again. Extremely frustrating as I don't have a clue how to solve the problem.

  • Did a replacement fix anyone's Proximity Sensor problem?

    Did it?

Ok. I've been following this thread, and like most of you I have been having the same issue. The 4.1 upgrade did not fix my proximity sensor issue. Even after the upgrade, my sensor was only reading about .5 inches from the phone. I tried restoring, and even fresh restoring with 4.1 to no avail.
Then by accident I fixed it. I did a RESET NETWORK SETTINGS and then RESET ALL SETTINGS for an unrelated issue, and then my prox sensor started reading 1.25 - 1.5 inches away. No more face hangups or speakerphone incidents.
It seems the settings for the Prox sensor might be stored in a different location than the other system settings and data. Maybe like the old Mac PRAM? I don't know which reset fixed mine, as I did them both and noticed the fix afterward.
    Do this -
    1. Upgrade, or make sure you've already upgraded to 4.1
    2. Do a RESET NETWORK SETTINGS - it is under Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    If still a problem -
    3. Do a RESET ALL SETTINGS - it is under Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
(Note - these resets clear your settings. You will have to reconfigure them after you run these.)
Post back your results. Best of luck. Thanks.

  • Did Apple EVER fix the alarm clock glitch?

At the rollover into the new year, alarms in the clock app had to be set for Every Day in order for them to work at all.
Did this ever get fixed? Is it fixed in 4.3? I know they just hosed up the DST rollover. Apple had hosed that last fall, too.
Seriously, Apple used to be the touchstone for high standards, but they have gotten pretty **** sloppy in the last year or so.

I agree completely apples iphone is becoming less then satisfactory. I like a ton of things about it but there is simply things that aren't included that should be and bugs that simply shouldn't exist. Its really making me consider another option.

  • Does OneKey 5.2 fix ANYTHING?

I installed the OneKey 5.2 patch and now get a new error message / warning, that says "The free dynamic buffer in the current system is insuffiecent (additional space required for OneKey Recovery:2435MB). It is recommended to release the dynamic buffer by updating the Base Backup".
    WHAT did version 5.2 fix?
    From what I see, NOTHING.
    Thank you Lenovo
