Did custom install of iLife from Leopard disk, want to install the rest.

When I bought my macbookpro a couple of years ago, it was supposed to have Leopard but didn't, so the Apple Store gave me a Leopard install disk. I installed Leopard (not an upgrade, an actual fresh install) but I guess I did a custom installation and didn't install all of the iLife apps (like iMovie).
Now I want to install those apps, but when I get into the installation process, it looks like I may have to either archive the entire OS and reinstall or install all of the iLife apps. Is there a way to just install the uninstalled apps?
My Leopard disk is 10.5.1, but the current version on my computer is 10.5.8, I suppose due to periodic upgrades.
Thanks!

Don't boot up from your original install disc. Instead, insert it, and browse it with Finder. You should see a "optional install software" or some similar looking thing (I can't remember its exact title). That's what you want to use to install iLife without reinstalling the whole system.

I purchased Lightroom from B&H Photo a few months ago.  I did not instal the software, because I was purchasing a new computer in the near future.  I am now purchasing that computer, but cannot find the software.  B&H suggested that I contact you directly to help me.  I have the receipt, and you can look to see that the program was never used.  It would be great if you could just send me another copy of the software.  Thank you very much.

    Download from Adobe's website
Win: Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows
Mac: Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Install then enter your serial number when prompted.
I have the receipt, and you can look to see that the program was never used.
The receipt is only of use to B&H. Adobe will have no record of it.
If you quote an Adobe Lightroom serial number then Adobe can confirm if that serial number has ever been registered. That step should not be required at this stage though. Just install the software.

I has a problem and I am not able to solve that when I use sound effect it is showed only headphone even I did not installing the headphone I has a problem and I am not able to solve that I am. Not able to hear the sound without headphone please help guys

Sounds to me like a hardware issue or maybe something is stuck in the headphone jack. When you plug in headphones, the jack in the iPad is switched to play only through the headphones and not the iPad's speakers. Sounds like either the jack is faulty or there is something stuck in the headphone jack. Get a flashlight & look inside the jack for anything that looks like it doesn't belong in there.
Regardless, I'd take it in to an Apple Store if you have one nearby to have it checked.
EDIT: "Ocean20" had an excellent suggestion above. While doing that, you may also want to rotate/twist the plug in the jack back & forth a few times as well. Dirty contacts can often times be cleared by doing this.

  • ILife From Tiger Disks On Leopard?

Yesterday, I did a clean install of Leopard over Tiger. I copied all my files but none of my applications. I knew that iLife came with my computer. After I installed I searched for the disk and inserted it into the drive and proceeded with the installation of the programs that were bundled with my computer only. It then started installing the Office 2004 Test Drive and then wanted me to insert disk 2 so it could install iChat. The only problem with this is that it would probably write over the new version of iChat. So, I stopped it. I have 2 Questions.
Is there any way to only install iLife?
    and
If I instal these programs will it write over the current ones?
    Thanks!

Put in your 1st install disk. Wait for the pop up window. Choose install bundled software only, ignore the pretty pictures and choose continue, pick the drive you wish to install on, click continue, This next window is the important one. Choose custom to the left bottom side. This will bring up all the software in the bundle. Uncheck what you don't want to install and check what you do then push continue. After that it's all down hill.

  • Installing Drivers from Leopard disk

I installed windows and got myself through to the os seemingly ok. I popped in the leopard disk to install the drivers. From here it goes through the autorun process alright and then restarts on its own like it should. When windows loads back up I get one of those generic error reports, and no further drivers install off the "found new hardware" wizard as its described in the boot camp installation guide. Im assuming the drivers havent successfully installed because the os is not recognizing a wireless internet connection and the apple keys (volume, eject, etc.) are not working in windows.
If anyone could help me out that would be fantastic, thanks.

Any luck with this? Seems like I'm having the same issue.

  • IMac not booting from Leopard Disk

I have been given the task of helping out a friend who has recently inherited a 20" Aluminium iMac from some late family members. The machine has a password to get in which he doesn't know but other than that it boots as far as the login screen fine. I tried to get it to boot from my Leopard disk and it just reboots instead of launching OS X from the DVD. I've run a hardware check and everything is reported as running fine (although I did leave it doing a full one last night, so i'll post any updates if there are any). Does anyone know what might be the problem?
I've tried holding down alt and selecting the DVD, reboots as before.
I've tried holding down C, which it just reboots to after spinning up the DVD
I've tried holding down cmd, alt, shift, del but it seems to just ignore this key combination
I'm using an old white keyboard and a USB mouse as the ones that came with it are wireless.
    Thanks in advance

It's quite possible that your retail Leopard DVD predates the release of the iMac and so lacks the necessary drivers for the newer hardware. Ask your friend if he got the disks that came with the iMac and if so use that disk set. If he didn't get them, identify the exact iMac model:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1758
    Then you can look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159
and see what version of Leopard came with the iMac. If your retail disk is earlier than the version that came with the iMac, it won't work. You'll need a later version of the retail disk (if available) or your friend will need to contact Apple tech support and see if he can order a replacement disk set for the iMac.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adding music folder from hard disk to itunes causes the original music  to vanish

what is causing itunes to delete original music folder from hard disk when selecting add folder to itunes

iTunes doesn't have any automatic way of re-creating your directory structure in terms of folders and playlists in iTunes.   You will have to drag each music folder to a playlist and then arrange these in folders inside of iTunes (which I warn you can can slow down iTunes a lot).   I guess the once chance of speeding this up will be if somebody has written an Applescript to do it, but I don't remeber seeing any anywhere.

  • HELP!? Remove 1 page from long document and shift all the rest pages

    Hello,
I am facing to following problem:
I have a long document with facing pages. Now I need to remove one left page in the middle of the document and shift all the rest pages one step forward. It means from all right pages do a left and vice versa (started from the page that was removed). There is a continous text int the whole document and left/right strip made from different photos.
To clarify the situation I am attaching the preview. I have deleted page no.12 and I need to shift page 13 to left, 14 to right after 13, 15 to left, 16 to right after 15 and so on....
Is there any simple way how to do it?
Thank you very much for any tips.

It looks to me as if you may something else going on here. Are you using right-to-left text here so the document binding would be onthe right when the book is closed? If not, your problem is not with page 13 so much as it is with the earlier pages.
Unless you force it to do otherwise by disabling page shuffling someplace, in left-to-right documents using facing pages ID will always put odd numbered pages to the right of the spine and even to the left, the opposite for right-to-left documents. In either case, it seems like you have page shuffling disabled either for the whole file or for a selected spread. You can re-enable it from the menu in the Pages panel. When ID asks if you want to maintain the current number of pages on a spread you should probably say no. Either pages 1-12 will swtch sides, or 13 and following will, and your spreads will rearrange to put two pages together as they should be.
If you  have overridden master page objects, a side effect of switching sides on the spread will be that the overridden objects will remain and the new master objects from the other side of the spread will appear behind them.

  • HELP - Reinstalling iLife from Leopard Install Discs

    I have a question...
I need to reinstall ONLY iMovie and iDVD from the Leopard Install discs. (My computer came with Leopard and iLife 08)
If I click on the option "install bundled software only", can I choose which application to install?
If I can't choose, will my iTunes and iPhoto libraries be deleted because I reinstalled iLie '08?
    Thanks!!!

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that iLife was not on the Leopard install DVD.
It comes on the system HD but that's it.
If you want to be sure, download Pacifist (yahoo for it - it's free and made by charlessoft) and see if you can find it on the DVD. If it's there, simply extract it.
I would backup your libraries in any case before doing anything.

  • Macbook doesnt boot from leopard disk

My Macbook pro started to get very slow,
so i decided to do a fresh install,
firstly used the original disk and formatted the drive,
    and left it to install,
    but install failed,
cleaned the disk tried again and this time it displayed a kernel panic "restart",
the recovery disk is in poor condition so this could be causing the problem,
then i tried the leopard retail disk,
    which has version 10.5.1,
the install kept restarting wouldnt even get to the apple logo,
now i dont have any other options,
    sold my macbook air,
and the imac is at my parents,
only thing i have infront of me now is a hp touchsmart,
i got the image from the recovery disk on to the pc,
then tried transmac to burn back to a dl dvd but got a error half way through the process,
anyone have any ideas or solutions i can try out...

    Worked it out,
for future reference this is what i did,
    Download trial version of transmac,
install and then open the extracted .dmg image,
    click expand and save,
    then download ultraiso trial version,
    click convert .dmg to iso,
once done i used the cyberlink package to burn onto a DL Dvd,
(you can also download imageburn which is free),
placed burnt dvd into the macbook pro and install process started straight away...

  • Need to Reinstall Mail from Leopard Disk

How do I reinstall just the Mail.app from the 10.5 disk?
If I do, will all the current mail boxes and messages stored on my hard drive still be there?
    Mail is from .Mac
    Thanks

    Mike,
Reinstalling Mail will not affect anything in your HOME folder. This includes anything in your mailboxes, any of your settings for Mail, etc.
Look on versiontracker.com for an application named Pacifist. Pacifist will allow you to browse the contents of the Leopard install disk, and extract/install just Mail.app. Are you sure that you need to reinstall Mail, and if so, why?

  • Can't start from leopard disk to do restore

So if you need to do a "restore all" you need to boot from your system dvd, right? And I've done it in the past. But since the last big system upgrade I can't get the system dvd to boot - just that darned loop - restart, restart, restart.
I even tried to boot from my superduper backup on my firewire disk - no dice there either. Strange. Anyone else seeing issues? Know how to get out of the bootup loop? Is this a problem with the most recent Leopard upgrade?

I'm in the exact same situation. It just keeps cycling through the boot, giving the startup chime, then the same thing all over again. Tried booting it every which way ("c" "option" etc.) and nothing has worked. The only difference between your ordeal and mine seems to be that I've never seen the install disc as an alternate option to the HD during the setup screen (where the image of the HD is on a blue background). Is there no other way to bring the computer back to factory settings?
p.s. I have a call-back appointment with an Apple tech in the morning, so if nothing better comes along, I'll probably have a solution around 10 tomorrow. In the mean time, good luck.=)
