Did I break my home button or what?

last 2 months, I think, I was just continuously taking screenshots (maybe 4 screenshots per second) then after 3 seconds the home button just "locked"? I don't know how to describe it but let's just say that the home button clicks normal, then when I broke it it felt like it won't go down unless you put 20KGs of pressure, but now it's almost impossible to even just click it. Did it lock? or it might have just been misplaced? because I don't think it was misplaced because I don't see gaps on the sides of the home button

  • There is a metal circle that goes under my home button. What is that for? How do i properly place the home button on the iPod Touch?

    I need help!!

It's possible that Fiona doesn't know what you mean. I don't.
However, I wonder if you mean the small circle (that isn't metal) at the top of the screen.
    That's a camera.
The only thing at the bottom of the iPod is the Home button - there's nothing underneath it. You can see in the picture, a recessed circle with a printed grey square inside it - the Home button.
(I have noticed that pictures of the 2nd gen Touch - which I own - do not show the small (also not metal) circle at the top left above the screen. It's a light sensor.)
So if your iPod does not look exactly like the one in the picture, can you post a picture of yours, with this small metal circle thing too?

  • Second time my I phone running stoped and I start it power on button with home button. What is problem with my I phone 4 g?

    What I do?

If you had to restart your phone repeatedly by resetting it (holding the home and sleep button until the Apple logo comes back again) try to set it up "as new device" without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data causing this problem. • My iphone is non-responsive--including the on/off button and home button.  What can I do?

My iphone is completely non-responsive--I can't even turn it off or on.  What can I do?

Hold both buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears to reboot iOS. Should take 10-20 seconds of holding.
If it doesn't work charge for 15 minutes with the mains adapter and do it again.

  • My iPhone won't turn on and my lock button is broken so I can't do the lock/home button restore, what do i do?

My Iphone isn't responding to anything, and I can't do the home/lock button restore becasue my lock button is broken and I've been using assistive touch. Any ideas as to how to turn it back on?

Try plugging it into the charger. Unfortunately, without a functioning sleep/wake button, it will be diffucult to do a number of troubleshooting steps. See if it will start that way. If not, you may need to leave it for a period to see if the battery will die out and then plugging it in may restart it. Otherwise, you will need to take the device to Apple to see about repair/replacement.

what do i do? HELP! thank you.

    Hello jabez2440,
Not being able to use your device can certainly be frustrating. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your iPhone. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on - Apple Support
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:
Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
Does not start up past Apple logo
    Appears frozen or unresponsive
Is unable to "Slide to Unlock" or "Slide to Power Off"
    To troubleshoot these symptoms:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

  • Home button backlight timeout

Love my Lumia 900! One issue; When there is low light (any time indoors or outside after sundown) the home buttons (back, home, search) go dark after a few seconds. I end up pecking around like a chicken trying to fine these buttons. The display timeout is nice and long. The timeout on the hone key backlight should be programmable (everything is!), or at least, the same as the display.

Last time I checked, a software update cannot physically break your home button. The software update, excluding 1.1.3, does not effect your home button because your iPod already has that installed to the most recent update to it and then no longer needs any software related to your home button.
What I am saying is that your home button doesn't just stop working, there has to be a reason and the 2.0.1 is not a valid reason.

  • Home button oddity

Sometimes when I double click the home button to switch to another app, if the mail app is open, it shows the contact info for someone I emailed once. I have gone through and deleted all of my temp contacts and emails one by one so I don't know where the info is coming from. Sometimes, if I have the camera app open in the background, when I double click the home button I see old pictures in the "preview" square of the camera app. I am not sure they are related, but since they both occur when I double click the hoe button I think they might be.  I have deleted the email account and set it up again.

  • "Over using" the home button?

I recently had to go online as my Facebook App had crashed and I needed somehow to close the App as, when I shut the iPad down and turned it on again, the Facebook app would still be frozen on that page. I am new to Apple products, I should add.  I wanted to use Facebook but in order to do so, I needed to ensure it shut down completely first.
Anyway, I found the solution: basically, double-clicking the home button and then clicking on the "minus" key beside the dancing Facebook icon. Simple.
However, while searching for said solution, I saw a number of posts, on different websites, on which people said they hate to do this because it is "over using the home button". What exactly does that mean? Can you cause any kind of damage by over using the home button? I don't really understand what the problem is.
Apologies for sounding like a complete n00b.

Reports, even on this forum, of Home buttons ceasing to work (excluding devices that were damaged by the users) are exceedingly rare. The button is designed to be used. I wouldn't worry about it.
    Best of luck.

  • TS1398 Have Apple actually admitted the home button failures are a known issue?

I have had two iPads and an iPhone. I have known several people who also have iPhones and all, yes I say all have suffered with the home button failure. Apple should be reworking these devices free of charge with upgraded button technology, or have an app that replaces the home button on the resilient touch screen. I know you can use the accessibility option but it still isn't a tue home button.
What are your views on this?
Does anyone know if Apple have admitted failure?
Love to hear from you all.
    Mark

Hi, I don't really want an app to replace the home button. I want apple to admit there is a weakness with the home button design and replace faulty units free of charge. An app would be an improvement... But not the answer.
I am amazed you have not seen a home button failure. Are you in the uk? Everyone I know has or is waiting for the dreaded lack of response from the button.
We were going to roll out these devices to all our staff until this issue appeared, now they have blackberrys. Never mind! maybe the iPhone 5 will not have any physical buttons, they don't need too.
Don t get me wrong, I think apples products are amazing but to fail on such a small detail that is so central to its function is disappointing to say the least.
    Anyway thanks for responding.
