  • So did I just lose ALL my photos?

I moved everything from Iphoto to an External.. then deleted the Iphoto trash... I go into the external and there are NO PICTURES IN ANY OF THE FOLDERS I TRANSFERRED INTO!!!! did i just lose ALL my family photos!!!!!!!

Exactly what did you do? Exactly what indicates to you that you have no photos?
Here are my standard instructions for doing this - note the bold emphisis
Do you have a backup? If you do not you will lose your photos someday even if you have not this time.
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • HT4972 Did I just lose everything on my IPAD for the last year because it said to update it, not giving an option to back it up first? Its updating with ITunes now but under the RESTORE option.  There was no way out of this.

My IPAD2 had a pop up message that an update is available, to close or click on details, so I clicked on details. It took me to an upgrade box, no back up options. I clicked to upgrade it.  It downloaded for awhile, then turned off, and when it turned back on, it directed me to plug into my ITUNES with the USB adapter, which I did.  When ITunes came up, it said I had to restore it before I could use ITUnes.  Again, no other options.  I am worried that I just lost everything on my IPAD2 for the last year, apps, photos, documents, settings, email, etc.  It is still downloading after 30 minutes.  Is everything gone and truly back to factory settings?  If so there was no warning for this at all, I'll never get everything back.

I'm not sure what happned either but If you are doing this via iTunes, iTunes should have backed up the iPad first. It can take a good bit of time when you update with iTunes on your computer because iTunes downloads and installs the entire iOS all over again. If you are running iOS 5 on the iPad, and you will be now, you can update OTA via WiFi in the future and the process takes far less time since you will only be downloading an incremental update.
If you are syncing on a regular basis with iTunes, you should have a recent backup. In the worst case scenario, you should be able to restore from the backup. And as stated aboce, you can download all apps again and virtually all purchased content from iTunes (if you live in the U.S.) and you can always sync your iTunes library back to the iPad.
Let the update finish and see where you are then. Come back if you need help.

  • HT5035 Did I just lose $16?

I had $16 in my iTunes account. I redeemed a $25 card in the Mac App store. When I opened iTunes the $16 changed to $25. Why didn't it change to $41 or not change at all? Did I lose $16 by entering the new card in the Mac App store?
Any ideas on how to be sure I am getting credit for my out balance and the new card?
    Thanks.

        Hello prayingpricnce!
I am so happy that you are getting a nice new phone with us through Amazon! That's super exciting. I was just wondering if you had everything sorted out. If you did, great! If not, please let us know. From the sound of it, I would think that if the order did not go through fully, you would be able to use your upgrade for the second order ONLY. No worries. Thanks!

  • Did I just lose all my music for good?

Is there any way to get back the libray source file if I accidentally sent it to the "recycle bin" ( actually it's an incinerating demon). All titles are stil listed the songs just cannot be located. Will a newer version of itunes allow me to re-download already previously purchased music? Please someone tell me some good news
    thanks

I was trying to clean up my library because I just got a new music hard drive and loaded the songs incorrectly the first time and tried again, successfully. So I had duplicate copies of my new music. I tried to remove them, grabbed the wrong file, put it in the recycle bin. Unaware of the size limit of my recycle bin, I thought foolishly that I could put it there and go get it back if it was the wrong file. It disappeared immediately.
I have been able to find my mp3 files and listen to them one by one, though I'm still not sure if it's everything since that file I threw out just vanished for good.
    THanks for the help

  • Why did I just lose all my notes?

Where are all notes? I just lost 3 years of notes and have looked everywhere

Well, actually, Windows XP System Restore doesn't actually wipe everything out. It will wipe out limited software, but no files. So in that case, all your iTunes music should still be on your PC, but not necessarily in your iTunes library. Anyway, being that you updated your iPod after you wiped your library, and you chose to re-synchronize it, then your iPod's music should also be wiped. As of now, there is no way to recover the music from your iPod. Just see if you can find all your music on your computer, unless you actually re-partitioned your drive holding the music, then it should be gone, in which case your out of luck. Next time, do not synchronize your iPod after wiping your library, but use PodUtil (google it) to get the music off of your iPod, then add it to your iTunes library. Good luck.

  • Did I just lose my VI? Load Error Code 8.

    Hi All,
I'm frantically trying to find a solution for this problem so I've come to you guys. I am running Labview 2011 on W7 64-bit. I was working on my top-level host VI for my cRIO project, and it began acting strange when I tried a "Save all" (as I do every 30 mins or so). The typical progress bar did not come up so show the VIs being saved but the screens were also not frozen.
I closed my VI and tried to reopen and was presented with this beauty:
All of my searches relating to this message pointed to incomptability between Labview versions and Runtime Environment versions. However, I only have 2011 installed and RT 8.0. This doesn't make any sense.
The only thing I did that was slightly out of the ordinary today was download a VI from another thread for referencing an example. It very well could have been a different version, but this should have no bearing on my VI. I'm in a panic right now as I may have lost 40-50 hours of work.
The only redeeming thing I can think of is that I did save my current VI as a copy of another VI about 2 weeks ago. The original had 4 months of work on it, with this version that is no longer opening having an additional 2 weeks, but still, I hope there is a solution. Thanks for the support.
Edit: Also just noticed my VI is 21 KB, down from > 400 KB on the original. This doesn't make any sense. Why did it get smaller. This really sucks.

I don't understand why it's acceptable for "save all" to cause a file to become corrupted. But thanks for the suggestion nevertheless.
No one said it was acceptable.  NI does their best to create products that work without bugs, but bug free software just doesn't exist.  If a save all didn't work, I'm sure NI would be very interested in reproducing the steps that caused this to prevent it from happening again.  The nature of the failure makes it difficult to reproduce and fix.  I wonder if NI could understand anthing about what happened if they have the VI.

  • Did I just lose everything??????

I am trying to install Tiger on my eMAC. I chose the option to preserve users and networks. The installation failed, so I went to restart my computer and my previous startup disc is not available. I know that the info was not erased b/c the available memory is the same as when I started.
    2 Questions:
    - How do I regain the use of my previous OS?
    - Am I going to be able to install Tiger and preserve my iTunes library and other saved items?
    Please Help.

Can I get to the other user through the one that has no information stored on it (OS9)?Yes. Since OS 9 has no permissions you can access anything.

  • I just went to open itunes, and it says 'unable to read itunes.itl because it was created by a newer version of itunes'.  I googled it, someone said to change the 'itl' to 'old', so I did.  I was then able to open itunes, but there was no music in there.

I just tried to open itunes on my Macbook, and it says, "the file ituneslibrary.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes.  I googled it, and someone suggested to change 'itl' to 'old', which I did. I was then able to open itunes, but nothing was there of my library.  Have I lost my entire itunes library?  Please say it ain't so ...

    Hi,
By changing itl to old you made iTunes create a new blank library.
You may be able to use a previous iTunes library which are created when you update itunes. Therefore delete the current itl file, go to previous iTunes library folder, select the one that is most recent one before you made updates to iTunes. Move this to replace the one you moved to trash. Rename to iTunes library.itl then open iTunes.

  • I did the iOS 7 seconds update and now my screen is just a plug and iTunes logo.  I don't have a computer anymore just iPad.  What do I do

I did the iOS 7 seconds update and now my screen is just a plug and iTunes logo.  I don't have a computer anymore just iPad.  What do I do

    Hello,
My suggestion would be to do the following:
-Press and hold the power button and home button for the time needed until the screen turns black and the apple logo reappears.
If that does not work, call the nearest Apple store and ask for assistance.
    Hope this helps,

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    or
    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.

Yes, you probably will but then you simply load your backup.

I have a non intel G5 and would like to download i-tune songs that I have recently purchased. I have tried everything and can't find the downloads. Did this G5 just become obsolete with itunes? If not what is the problem?

You can do it with Leopard but it depends upon the iTunes version which you did not reveal.  Also make sure you are looking in the right place for purchases.
Consider buying a backup drive so you do not need to do this again.  If you are going to run old hardware and software you need to live differently because yes, at some time you will find your version of iTunes no longer works.  You're lucky it still works with Leopard.  As you can see, some versions still work with the iTunes Store but not for repeat downloading.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).
    Additional tip at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24176756#24176756
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links (see https://discussions.apple.com/message/26364186#26364186)
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
