Did I just prove the purple fringing is software?

I experienced some fringing issues and got curious about the claims of coatings and internal reflections.... Please duplicate this and explain if you can... Set up a shot where the purple is very obvious, now simply switch to video mode.... It's gone right? Only did one experiment in my living room with a bright light but if it is coatings or internal reflections then it should still be there in my mind.
I would appreciate others duplicate this so apple can design a fix, video mode crops so you will need to pan a touch to duplicate the exact angle and discover the purple is no longer there, not sure if video uses a different aperture or not but obviously this can be fixed if apple will do it

This really is a blown out of proportion issue for anyone who knows anything about photography. I wouldn't base your decision about upgrading to the iP5 based on this.
Indeed. This is a common issue with strong backlighting. Basically what happens is that the DIRECT light gets reflected inside the camera, resulting in fringing. Coatings can minimize the reflections to some extent, but cannot eliminate them completely. The easy thing to do is simply adjust your shot, or put your hand or a ball cap over the lens to block the direct light.

My iMac suddenly can't read the backup hard drive I've been using for Time Machine. I tried unplugging the cord that connects the HD to the iMac and plugging it back in, but I still get "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" below which are buttons for Initialize, Ignore and Eject. I was using a cord that went from larger square plug to larger square plug. So then I tried one that went from smaller square plug to what I think is USB (thin rectangular plug) of the sort that connects the keyboard and mouse. It's the type that my printers and scanners use to connect to the iMac. I did NOT just upgrade the OS or anything. The external HD is an OWC Mercury Elite All Pro. Thanks, Michael! I do hear it at times spooling up and running. Just after I bumped the thread I looked for troubleshooting for this drive online and found the manual which suggested using Disk Utility which I've seen before accidentally (if I hit Command Shift U instead of Shift U to type "Unit" on a new folder for a student's homework ) but had never really noticed. Disk Utility does see it and also a sub-something (directory?) which might be the Time Machine archives on the disk, called disk1s2), sort of the way that my iMac's hard drive shows up as 640.14 GB Nitachi HDT7... and has a sub-something titled DB iMac, which is what I named my iMac's hard drive.
Anyway the owner's manual just shows the image under the formatting section, not the troubleshooting section, but as soon as I saw it in the manual I remembered seeing it accidentally a few times, went to it, and am now verifying the disk. Right now it's telling me that it will take 2 hours to complete the verification, so I guess I have a bigt of a wait. :-)
Does that fact that Disk Utilities can see it mean it's not failed, or just that it hasn't completely failed?
I can see the virtue in having multiple redundant backups, or at least two backups. What do you suggest? Two external hard drives? I had this one linked by ethernet, and but I also have a cord that could link it by USB (like a printer), so if this one is reparable I could get a second one and link it by USB. If this one is not reparable I could get two and do the same thing. I do have an Airport so I suppose it's possible to get some sort of Wi-Fi hard drive (my new printer/scanner uses only the network and not a cable, although it has a cable that I used for the initial installation), but I'd suspect a Wi-Fi hard drive might have a higher price.
What hard drives, if any, do you recommend? I seem to recall that when I was looking at external hard drives 4 years ago, Apple's were substantially more expensive, which is why I got the OWC Mercury Elite All Pro.

I think this new scrolling behaviour was introduced with Lion. You do get used to it pretty quickly (well I did). Are you sure that deselecting Natural Scrolling in Mouse Prefs doesn't re-instate the previous behaviour, it does here.

Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Attempting to print via Airport from a MacBook Pro. Also from a Mac Pro via ethernet. Both worked before updating to Yosemite. Canon Pro 9000 Mk 2 works via USB. Tried installing driver 10.84 from OS 10.9 as suggested by PAHU; no luck.

The "stopped at server - no pages found" message would suggest an image with the print file that is created by the printer driver on the MacBook Pro. But if the Mac Pro is getting the same message then that is unusual.
To rule out a couple of causes I would try connecting the MacBook Pro directly to the MX850 by USB cable. This action should result in a new printer for the USB connection being created automatically. If not then you may need to manually create it as you won't be able to use the existing printer that exists for the network connection. With the new printer created see if this will let you print without error.
If this USB connected printer also fails with the same message then try a reset of the printing system. Note that this action will also remove the Pro 9000 from Printers & Scanners so you will have to add it and the MX850 again.

Did iCloud just store the new Apple ID of my stolen iPhone?

As my last iphone 5 got stolen two weeks ago, I restored my backup on my new iphone 5, using iCloud. When iCloud finished restoring, I was asked to sign-in and was prompted for my Apple ID Password. I was surprised as in the field where I had to fill in my username, was a strangers email address: [email protected] (see image).
I did not know this person, nor was i stored in my address book. My iPhone was brand new, and I bought it directly from T-Mobile. So how does this strange
email address end up in my Apple ID sign-in field? Has it something to do with the iCloud? Could it be that my stolen iPhone even after been fully factory reseted sent data to my iCloud, and this email is connected to my old, stolen iPhone?
I tried to conect to this person directly, but she claimed that she has a iPhone 4s since over 1.5 year and never has been in the location where my iPhone got stolen. Should I believe her?

I am stuck in a loop on my ipad - I have followed the instructions in your article above - I keep trying to delete icloud but cannot because it still wants me to login with my old id/email which is then rejected because it no longer exists. STUCK. What am I to do? Now none of my Apple devices will sync and this is extremely irritating - to say the least.

I have just purchased an iphone 3g, it has the update 4.2.1, but most of the apps including my tax ap requires me to have 4.3 how do I get my phone to do this or is there someone I can take it to? Or did I just buy the wrong phone?

iOS 4.2.1 is the most recent, and probably last, version that an iPhone 3G can run. If you need apps that require IOS 4.3 or later, you're stuck. You should have purchased an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S, all of which can run iOS 5.

Did someone just reset the all time statistics on Leaderboards?

As the title says, seems all the old information from the "All Time" statistics of "Leaderboards" have gotten wiped for both internal and external users while the "Current Month" statistics have stayed intact.

I thought everyone wouldn't mind if we started from scratch again We will try and reset the leaderboard cache this evening and hope it will fix the issue. If that doesn't work we'll investigate further. Not to worry though if you look in your profile all points are still accounted for.

I installed the latest software update on our Apple TV - this allows us to access VIMEO. However, although we can still play music from an iPhone 4 we can no longer play purchased tv shows - unless the buffering process has been extended to be glacially slow! It just shows it is loading but under the previous software release a show would start in a minute or two, nothing is happening afer 4 or 5 minutes with this one.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you want. Which view, exactly, are you trying to use? Almost certainly, you can do what you want...
In iTunes 11, I have the sidebar showing ('cos I prefer it), and :
although I have ringed Composers, this view of my Library is sorted by Song title.
And "group albums" by ...
title?
or artist?
