Did I Lose everything?
Never backed up iPhone 5 to computer, tried to update to the new OS on the phone today and now the phone will not turn on. All it says is to plug in to iTunes. When I do, iTunes says I must restore original settings. Have I lost everything? 900 pics, contacts, texts, media? There is a sim card, is that any help? I cant believe this is all for the software that everyone hates.
If you never backed up your data, yes, you have probably lost it. The iPhone doesn't store any data on the SIM. Did you at least have iCloud enabled?
Most people don't hate iOS 7.

HELP - Did I lose everything????
Help! My Mac froze up while opening an email from a friend (just opening an email, not an attachment). I tried re-starting several times and completely shutting down, then restarting and I can't get back to my desktop!!!! It goes through the start-up screen (slow to get there) and then my screen goes completely blue and stays there. Every now and then I see a quick flash of my desktop.
I tried re-starting using Norton Anti-Virus and running a scan, it found nothing, and still didn't work afterwards.
Any suggestions? Did I lose all my files????No, you want to use the install disk. Insert the CD & shut the computer off. Wait 10 seconds, turn it back on holding down the "C" key until you see the Apple screen. It will load from the CD and present you with the install screen which, depending on version, has Options somewhere on it. Click on this and navigate your way, reading each screen carefully, to Disk Repair. Run this and remove the CD; reboot. If your Mac now starts normally don't forget to run Repair Permissions from Disk Utility as well. In fact if your machine is getting more than a few month old you should download and run a "CRON" utility like Onyx, MacJanitor, or Cocktail which do a lot of routine maintenance for you.

I connected my external hard drive originally formatted on PC on my new Macbook. The first time I connected it I could see all my files but today I connected it and after I couldn't see any file nor even on my pc appears as NO NAME with a different name and nothing on it. I think was reformatted, any help to recover all my data?
It's really important stuff for meIf the Apple Store couldn't get files off of the drive, it is unlikely that you will be able to. If you have backups, those would be the best way to go. You could also try booting up the computer and holding down T to boot into Target Disk Mode. Plug the broken computer into another one with FireWire and see if it works to recover data from external hard drive. If you can see it, try booting up the broken computer while holding down Option. Choose Recovery HD from the menu, then choose to Reinstall OS X.
It is unlikely that this will work, because I'm pretty sure that the Apple Store would have tried this. You could try using expensive software to get files off the drive, but it would be risky and the results might not be any good.

They will be gone from the iphone, but you should be syning all contacts to your computer regularly and should be importing all pics to your computer regularly, particularly before any update.

i have an ipod classic and I did have a macbook pro but it crashed. Is there any way to transfer the music from my ipod without losing everything on the ipod. Because my new computer is a pc it wants me to reset my ipod but I will lose everything.

i ran the update on my 4s but it wont power back on. It has a symbol of usb connecting to itunes. itunes is telling me that the only option I have is to restore to factory. I did not back it up before I ran the update. Do I lose everything now including photos? Thanks
Yes, if it is in recovery mode, everything has already been lost.

It's in recovery mode. You don't have a choice. Anything that was on the phone is already gone. If you didn't back it up, there is no way to recover it.

My daughter had an update for itunes which she did. She said that there was also an update for ipod but it had told her it failed. However, now when she connects USB cord it tells her she must restore. I am assuming that it updated to IOS 6. Is she going to lose everything on the device if she goes ahead and restores it? She does not have anything backuped in the cloud as she was not aware that this update would cause this issue.
If her iPod was backed up, she will lose the data on the iPod, but it could be restored from the backup.

I tried to upgrade the new version for i pad mini but when downloading it just went off and told me to connect it to i tunes, so i did and now it says i need to restore it. Does that mean I will lose everything in my i pad?
In other words, the upgrade process did not go altogether well and the device has lost all its contents. When you plug it in, they will be restored from the backup.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

Thank you for the response. Typically this error is caused by installing an older verison of iTunes than you had prior. When you installed iTunes did you download the program directly from iTunes.com, or did you use an older copy of the program on your computer? If you used an older version or are unsure, uninstall all the components one more time and download a new copy of iTunes via the link below.

Because ipod touch will sycn with one computer at a time. Syncing to another wil erase the current content.

ITunes quits during update. Will I lose everything during recovery?
So I connected my iphone 5 to my laptop to upgrade it to iSO 7.0.2. I did what I usually do right before updating it: I transfer my purchases and I sync/back up my phone. Now I begin the update but then iTunes gets an error and quits on me. So I reopened it and it says my iPhone is in recovery mode. It's telling me I must restore my iPhone and it warns me that, since it's being restored to its factory setting, all my media and other data will be erased. "After this process is complete you will have the option to store your contacts, calenders, text messages and other settings."
So I was wondering, since I backed everything up...will I really still lose everything?? Even my photos?Hello aimhsar,
You should be able to restore your data and as long as you let it sync all the way through after it restarts, you should not lose any data.

Weird problem after exiting soundbooth
