Did iOS 4.0.2 fix the Calendar Birthday issue?

Anyone know if this latest update fixed the Calendar issue with incorrect Birthdays?

No, it didn't. Only "things" relating to the security problems with PDF files. Cerfianly nothing to do with Calendar functions.

  • Did Apple fix the video quality issue in iMovie '09?

I am a casual video editor and iMovie 08 had the perfect user experience / functionality for what I want to do.
However, the known video quality issue (throwing away interlaced scan lines) made the result unacceptable since I archive our family video on DVDs. I have been forced to use iMovie HD for that reason. I have tried tricks such as converting the original DV files to AIF and deinterlace prior to import into iMovie08 but that did not seem to work either.
So does anyone know if Apple fixed the video quality issue in iMovie '09.
MESSAGE TO APPLE IF YOU ARE LISTENING:
Please fix the video quality in iMovie09 if not already. Yes, the quality is ok for YouTube or Internet video but for those of us who want simple editing to archive our family video we cannot accept poor video quality. Dropping an interlace field effectively halves the vertical resolution. Thank you.

Please explain this in more detail when you say Adaptive Deinterlacer. Are you talking about another program? If so, what program and what are the specific steps.
Also, sounds like you are recommending imovie09. By saying to do the above, are you saying imovie09 still causes you too loose significant quality like imovie08? Are you saying you can use imovie08 or imovie09 with these steps to get high quality video or just imovie09? I guess I just need more specifics on how you do what you are describing and how imovie09 fits into this versus imovie08. I joined this whole discussion trying to figure out if upgrading imovie09 made a difference regarding the whole quality issue. I know it has more features, but I am more concerned about he quality of the video right now. Thanks.

    1. Tell more about it, e.g.: OS, a sun jdk or a ibm jdk? 32-bit or 64-bit?
for ibm jdk, look for *.hpd file within the dir.
for sun jdk, add startup option -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemError
Then analyze them with heap analyzer.
2.MaxPermSize=1024m so big space for class files, really necessary?

  • Does 1.9 fix the HDMI handshake issue ?

does 1.9 fix the HDMI handshake issue experienced by users with the Newer 7 series set top boxes? Frankly, that is my biggest desire for this new software.

In general there ae fewer handshake issues with the 7xxx boxes
1.9 does include some fixes for some handshake issues.  For motorola boxes it includes new firmware from Motorola as well as Verizon's new IMG.

We're not Apple - these boards are user-to-user.
Your profile says 10.7.3 - try applying the 10.7.5 combo update.

  • How can I fix the calendar list view - it repeats days and misses entries

My iPhone has started to repeat days when I look at it. Some of those days have complete data for the day, other miss out lots of appointments.
I get this problem only in list view.
This month, as I scroll down the dates, i get 4th sept, 5th, then back to 4th, 5th, 6th, then back to 5th, then 6th, then 5th...
The data on each day varies (some entries missed, some repeated every time the day appears)
All the data is correct on my mac and on other views on the phone.
My data is synced over cloud and I share some of the calendars with a couple of other icloud users.
It is very annoying as I find the list view such a good way to look at my calendar. Any suggestions for a fix welcomed as turning it off and on and turning icloud syncing on and off has not helped.
    Thanks

I am replying to my own post here as I seem to have fixed the problem.
I do have some calendars that are shared. Some of those are shared with users who have time zone support turned on. So i activated time zone support on my iphone, then deleted my icloud subscription. I then signed in to icloud again and voila... problem solved.
It is a weird one as the other calendar views were always fine and when you opened an event that appeared in the wrong day (on list view), the correct date of the event was shown in the information...
one more bug in a complicated system I guess

  • HT4528 Is there a fix for calendar sync issues between iPhone 4S and Outlook?

My boss has an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0.1 and a Microsoft Exchange 2003 email account and has consisent sync issues with her calendar. The problem only seems to come up with calendar invitations. Usually, when people send her calendar invitations the events get added to her Outlook calendar on her PC but not on her iPhone. More recently she also sent out invitations through Outlook that also didn't appear on her phone. She has also accepted invitations on her phone that did not appear on her PC. The problem seems to have gotten worse more recently.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I tried deleting the calendar through the phone's settings and re-installed it but it didn't solve the issue.

There was a reported issue with Exchange and iOS with re-occuring meeting invites.  Not only did it cause issues on the device, but on the Exchange server side it created huge logs and high utilization on the CAS.  This was an issue on iOS 6.0.x - 6.1.3 (at which time it has been fixed from 6.1.3 on).  This was attributed to the iOS version and happened on all devices (not just the 4s).
I am not sure if this is what your employee is experiencing or not - but this is one that we had, and we asked all running iOS 6 to upgrade to the most current release (oddly enough, we did not see this in iOS 5.x devices).

  • Has latest update fixed the "blue rectangle" issue?

If today's update did not fix it, is there any news as to when this bug will be fixed?  I'd really like to be able to turn the GPU back on.
Also--separate subject--the new version seems to have some catalog issues.  It didn't update the latest LR 5.7 catalog but some slightly older one.  All sorts of minor issues result.  Don't know if anyone else has had this kind of problem.
    Gail

Ive had Samsung galaxy s2 and i miss it. Unfortunately ive sold it for an iphone 4s and id say im not so satisfied. Even though IOS is somewhat better than android, android team can really fix the issues pretty fast and clearly with an expected result, unlike apple.
As for the battery. Battery on MY iphone 4s *****, its still same ****** 5.01 had, and its draining in 6 hours of normal usage. Couple phone calls, text messages, surfing in internet and boom, its depleted. Usually i have to charge my phone once a day, but sometimes even twice. As for SGS2, i even could go 3 days without a single charge, however im not sure anymore with ICS firmware.
Im selling off my iphone 4s and excited about HTC One X, i have a strong feeling about that phone.

  • Is Apple working on a new OS to try and fix the power drain issues?

As many other users of the Iphone 4S are commenting on, the battery life of the 4S does not meet the stated specifications. Just sitting in standby, I am down to about 25% battery life after about 12 hours. I have read all of the suggestions on how to prolong the batter life. But, if we turn everything off, why did we get the Iphone in the first place? Turn off Siri, Turn off location services, manually check e-mails every hour ... the list goes on.
So, I want to know what Apple is doing about this issue that is affecting many many users.

Thanks for the information. I guess will just have to sit back and be patient. Hopefully this will fix the issues.

  • I have fixed the Buffalo drive issue now working with guide

Ok so decided that apple where not bothering fixing the issue so i thought i would make a workaround.
My 10.5.6 macbook could see the drive fine so decided to see if i could break 10.5.6 without doing the update to give the same error.
and here is what i found
If i installed the IOUSBMassstorageclass.kextfrom 10.5.7 using b7 kext installer after re-booting the caches would update and once it had re-booted the drive would stop working in the same way as the 10.5.7 update did.
    So here is the workaround
get a copy of the IOUSBMassstorageclass.kext from 10.5.6 and back it up to a pendrive then using kext installer install he kext re-boot and buffalo drives will work again.
I dont know if this is a bad thing to do i did not get any panics or kernel errors and everything seemed to go back to normal.
So there you go apple thats the offending issue the kext now get it fixed

    clintbradford wrote:
... apple where not bothering fixing the issue ...
This is a problem with a couple series of Buffalo drives ... NOT an "Apple" problem to fix. Buffalo has itself admitted this fact.
In fact it's likely a problem with whomever provides Buffalo with their enclosure firmware if it isn't Buffalo themselves.
This is why it may in fact affect more drives than just Buffalo's.
Regardless, Clint is correct in that it is not Apple's responsibility to fix this issue, it is Buffalo's, and Buffalo both admits that and tries to avoid the issue by stating they do not support the use of their products on Macs.
Note also that by installing the "workaround" at the top of this thread, you may not only be seriously destabilizing your system, but future Mac OS X updates may not apply or work properly.
Kernel extensions are tested for interoperability with all other parts of Mac OS X, and to replace one version with another ignores the fact that other kernel extensions may rely upon behavior added or changed in the new version of the extension.
It's sort of like bolting a tire and wheel from a 1992 car onto a brand new one; the car might drive for a while, but long term it's likely to be nothing but trouble and may in fact be downright dangerous.

  • When will Apple fix the Sonos compatibility issue?

How soon should we expect Apple to work with Sonos to fix the compatibililty issue with Lion?  I am a Sonos fan for the same reason I am a Apple fan, their stuff works and is simple.  I would like to upgrade to Lion but read that the Lion release does "not support sharing drives formatted as FAT32" which apparently Sonos uses.  Does this sound like a simple fix or a long term problem?

Appreciate the direction to check with Sonos.  I looked again at their website and Sonos asserts they believed they had a working software update that would work with Lion during their testing, and while they had a few bugs they were working through prior to the Lion launch, the one issue they have yet to find a work around for is Lion's inability to share music files.  Is there an underlying technology reason that would cause Apple to block access to music files?
I am fearful that I will be caught in the middle and have to choose between upgrading to Lion or abandoning my Sonos equipment.  I hope this doesn't become an issue like the Adobe Flash vs Apple issue.  I imagine most Sonos equipment owners did not purchase with plans of buying replacement gear every 4 to 6 years, unlike the mindset when purchasing computers where we expect to have to replace in 6 years or less.
Hoping for responses that may help Sonos equipment owners to gain insight into the underlying cause of the problem, and whether we should expect a SIMPLE solution soon.
Thanks in advance to the many Apple experts for responses.
