ITunes won't run - invisible window where iTunes should be, but it never launches.
I'm running Windows Vista 32 (I know, I should upgrade) and over the last few weeks, I noticed that my podcast wasn't downloading new eps. Now, iTunes won't run at all.
I've done a full scan of the PC and there are no viruses found. I'm using Kaspersky.
I've un-installed all Apple apps and rebooted before trying to reload iTunes and it never runs.
Anyone have any idea what might be preventing iTunes from running?
I have a Windows 7 PC on the other desk, connected through the same switch and Cable Modem and iTunes is running fine on it, so it's not network / internet related, as far as I can tell.
Thank you,
J"The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to another folder containing the installation package iTunes.msi in the box below"
Let's just run through the standard procedures for that one again, just to be sure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. Then use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC. (Launch CleanUp, find any iTunes and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, and remove those entries.)
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:
Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows
now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?
(If any step of this procedure failed to work, explain to us as best you can what the problem was.) -
Itunes 8.0 running on windows xp
I just downloaded itunes 8.0 on my windows xp computer. For some reason when I open itunes 8.0 the color is dark grey and purple which is completely different then the previous version color. Does anyone know how to change the colors so that it is easier to see on my pc? I deleted the prior version then installed 8.0.
Thanks,

ITunes will not run on Windows 7 unless "run as Admin" is selected
I have been running iTunes in Windows 7 for a long time, then about 2 weeks ago, it stopped running, I double click the icon and it just hangs then nothing happens... I read through posts and found one that said to try running as admin, I tried it and it did run and I was able to use it. However I cannot run my TuneUp Companion in this mode and a message pops up telling me so.
In other words, the workaround is fine, just to run it in an emergency, but it is not by any means the preferred mode.
Please HELP!!!Did you try uninstalling iTunes along with all of its components first?

Installed latest version of iTunes 10 on a Windows 7 64-bit PC. Occasionally iTunes runs, but usually it gives the error: "Quicktime was not found. Quicktime is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again".
I have done this about 3 times, making sure to uninstall everything apple (itunes, quicktime, bonjour, etc.) Once I even followed a recommendation to delete all application data and reinstall. Rebooting, etc.
Quicktime runs absolutely fine.
I even tried repairing quicktime, installing quicktime by itself after iTunes was installed. No luck. Any ideas???I've downloaded the iTunes installation file and tried to install or repair 3 times but keep getting a message that a required component is not installed (-45075).
Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:

Problems with iTunes and iPod running under Windows Vista
I recently changed my computer. I now have an HP Pavilion running windows Vista (use to have XP). I have a video iPod -30GB. I downloaded iTunes onto the new equipment without incident, but that is the last thing that went smoothly.
I can no longer watch TV shows or movies from iTunes. The video plays like a slide show of stills (the audio is real-time however). Eventually I will get an error message from Windows and it closes the application.
I am also having issues with syncing my iPod and computer. I get a message requiring me to delete all of the content of the iPod and replace it with the contents of iTunes. I haven't done this -no trust and no backup
The delete message is from iTunes. I suspect it is a security feature to prevent downloading to more than one iPod, as iTunes doesn't seem to 'know' my iPod anymore. Syncing has also caused iTunes to close and my computer to reboot. Has anyone else had these problems?
HP Pavilion Windows Vistayou may want to take a look at the iPod 101 tutorials. Those might help.
Regards.

Have to restart my pc once I exit iTunes, I am running on Windows 7. Help
Can anyone help me. For some reason when I run iTunes software on my laptop, it freezes up and I have to restart. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled and run a Sfc/scannow. No issues found from the scan. Any tips here? Please note that it does open initially, but if I close the program it does not want to reopen unless I restart.

ITunes does not run with Windows 8.1
Since I installed windows 8.1 I cannot get into the itunes store. I get the error message iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store an unknown error occurred 0x80090318. Any ideas? I am using a Sony 20" touchscreen computer running Windows 8.1 operating system. I have checked the forum and copied QTMovieWin.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes without success. Connecting to the Store is impossible and I can't update iTunes. Can anyone assist me in correcting this problem?
Here is the fix, if you're still having the problem. It's just a copy and paste thing.
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Just be sure to reboot after you have copied and pasted the file listed above. -

Hello i am having trouble opening itunes on my laptop. i have downloaded it and set it up but when i try to open it i get a message as above....the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes...i have no idea what to do can someone help me plese
Normally this message appears if you try to install an older version of iTunes. Occasionally it can be triggered by a damaged library database. This method should get things working again.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Would itunes run on windows xp pro?
Because I have itunes, but it wont open when i click on the icon on the desktop. But quicktime works fine, so the only conclusion i came up with is that itunes probably doesnt run on windows xp pro
itunes shouldn't have any problems running on xp pro. if the desktop icon doesn't work, i would try opening itunes from iTunes.exe from its installation location, usually program files/itunes. if that doesn't work, try uninstalling then reinstalling itunes. that tends to fix quite a few problems.

After installing ITunes 64 bit in my Windows 8 laptop, it won't launch
I just upgraded to Itunes 64 bit in my Windows 8 64 bit laptop. I've downloaded and installed it but it's not working. I've uninstalled and installed again and again, still ITunes 64 bit won't launch. Help!
Windows 8 or Windows RT? iTunes won't run on Windows RT. It should run on Windows 8. Use the appropriate installer from an account with administrator privileges.
Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
