Did iTunes offer a subscription option in the past?

I'm asking this because I'm doing a research project about the future of media distribution and the potential disappearance of physical media. I was certain that iTunes used to offer subscription type service with a monthly fee, but since I started researching, I can't find anything about that. Did they once operate that way or was I hallucinating?

I want my podcasts archived on my computer... which they were. Why did iTUnes move them? They were files on my computer, some of which I paid for and which were not downloaded from iTunes. Now I have to download them again. This "feature" is invasive and blatantly stupid.

No, it was not a lie but the music must be in the iTunes library. It doesn't matter what the source for the music is, though.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Do you not know how to add music to the iTunes library? It is very easy: pull down File > Add to library. You can add any supported file format to iTunes, not everything has to be purchased from the iTunes Store.

External hard drive suddenly became "unreadable" and the disk utility offers not repair options. The drive is visible in disk utility but may not be mounted... any suggestions?

I have a WD My Passport 070A Media 2.0 TB external hard drive that has suddenly become unreadable on my laptop (MacBook Pro circa 2006 with 10.4.11) and I have tried on a MacBook Pro 2011 running 10.6.8 with the same results. I had tried opening disk utility to repair the drive, but on both machines the drive is visible in the left column, with no indentation below the drive. When I select the drive in the first aid portion the only options highlighted are info and eject... I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to repair the drive. I am currently in Belize and am not home for 3 weeks yet. I'm hoping for a fix while I am down here, otherwise I may have to wait... I appreciate any assistance!

It's quite possible the AC PSU has given out, if It's only Bus powered as it appears, that's the worst idea ever & asking for eventual problems.
What Format is it?

Cannot find my iTunes on computer at all for the past two weeks.

I have been looking for my iTunes in my music folder and it is nowhere to be found. I have 5 ipods and have purchased many audiobooks etc...and now have no access to anything. Every time I click on the desktop icon I get this window:
"The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder." ...which when I find has other things in it and not iTunes. I am flumoxed. I put some major bucks into purchases and cannot access a darn thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions and answers?

TS1369 My IPad is now showing as not Synching to Itunes, although it has done in the past no problrm.

Cannot get my IPad to snch to ITunes on my Computer, Not had a probelm previously.
Have gone into help and it is shown as not connected.

The track is probably corrupted in some way so won't play. This has happened to me and I just deleted the track and redownloaded (should be free if youve already paid for it... but check that you can do this before deleting it). This should help...

Hello. Does anyone know if its possible to create an on-page button that brings up the blue iOS subscription options for users to directly subscribe (ie: as in the library!)...
I haven't seen it done anywhere else but it should be possible?

You can use a button to display subscription options using the Reading API. This article has an example:

You can use that list and open the previous tab just above the one that appears bold and has a bullet.

Unable to Upgrade iTunes to 11.0.3 as the Mac OS Can't "See" the Upgrade

I'm currently trying to upgrade iTunes 11.0.2 (25) to 10.0.3. I'm using OS X v10.8.3. When I launched iTunes today, the application informed me via a pop-up window that said a new iTunes version was available and would I like to download it now. I selected "Don't Download" as I figured I could do this later. This afternoon, I went into iTunes and selected "Check for Updates." This same pop-up appeared, and I selected "Download iTunes." Choosing this option launches the App Store. Unfortunately, the app tells me there are "No Updates Available." How can I get my system to "see" the upgrade and download it?

Why does my iTunes only show iTunes U and podcast options at the bottom. I just want to be able to watch movies on my iPad :(
Plus when I go to the videos app and tap go to iTunes Store I get a blue message that says "cannot connect to iTunes Store".

These are just playlists. The songs there are really not duplicates of the songs. They are just a different location for accessing them. Some playlists can be deleted, some cannot. Ones that are created by iTunes cannot be deleted. Ones that you create can be. The Recently Added and the 90's cannot.

I would copy over the entire thing if you have room. With iTunes 10.4 though, you can download any previous iTunes purchases you have made in the past with your current iTunes account. While in iTunes, look at the left hand side of your screen and select "Purchases" and look at the bottom right corner of the screen and select "Download Previous Purchases". If you have an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad...you can do the same thing from each device. Nice new feature...just remember that those ripped CDs need a back-up!!! Enjoy...

I've been having the same issues too, and thought it was just my outdated computer or account?!
Every time I try to purchase a song, "session has timed out" shows up after I click "agree" to the terms!? I seem to be in the exact same scenario as 'SportsBarn' above: Itunes support have replied repeatedly with the same "solutions" but nothing has helped or even been applicable. I have an older laptop, 2005 Powerbook running OS X 10.4 Tiger so it's not compatible with the latest iTunes 10.5.2 which requires minimum OS X 10.5. I've been using the balance already in my iTunes account (from redeemed giftcards over the past few years) with no problem, until recently (my last successful purchase was October 2011). I wonder if it's the older OS or just a redemption glitch even with newer computers?

Itunes stuck in the past

Itunes seems to be stuck in the past--August 18th to be specific. Every time I turn off itunes then restart it, it deletes all my podcasts and music that have been added since August 18th. It also takes 10min or more to boot up. I updated to the lastest version of itunes thinking that might help, but alas, no difference.
Any thoughts?

The tmp files and the .itl files are in the My Music\iTunes folder.
Within the My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Podcasts folder there are four folders of podcasts, which seems strange because I subsribe to at least 12 different podcasts.

I followed all the instructions on the suggested page. Many files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\ could not be deleted. Message said ""Cannot delete files: It is being used by another person or program"' but could not find iPodService.exe in task manager (also, the "Cannont delete ... " did not mention iPodService.exe).
Deleted all that I could. Reinstalled iTunes. Still same result. iTunes and computer both recognize my old iPod. Only the computer recognizes iPod Touch.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...
