Did Flash just get cr*ppier? What the h*ll is going on?? Now
that we export our swf, we have to make sure that we f'in mask out
the working area? What genius came up with that bulls**t?? Also,
when we put actions on buttons we have to go thru a lot more sh*t
with typing up all the scripts?? not to mention they are a hell of
lot more bugs!!! c'mon Macromedia, some of us have time constraint
with real deadllnes, so why all the innefficiencies and added
frustrations?? You guys are suppose to make it better with each
version, not f*cking make it sh*ttier..get your head outta your
a$$es. FLASH MX 2004 IS A F'in RIP-OFF!!

"just" get crappier is a bit of an outdated statement - MX
2004 is flash version 7 and the currect
version is Flash 8 - MX 2004 came out well over a year ago.
You don't and never have had to "mask" out the work area - I
have no idea what you are referring to

Yes they removed normal mode from the AS panel but brought it
back in flash 8 as "Script Assist"
which is even better.

No purchase is required to install Flash Player. The offer you're seeing is optional. There should be a yellow 'Install Now' button on the bottom right of the page. Is the button not displaying? Please post a screenshot of the page (How to post a screenshot in the forum).

If I go to disk utility, to the left it lists "mac os x base system", but if I click on any of the tabs it is all grayed out.

Your HDD needs to be replaced. It apparently is dead.

Just helped mum n dad buy a 17" I-mac G5 I-sight.
There really pleased ! However I, having purchased a machine for myself, the 20" version only days before,I was a little surprised as to the fact that there machine was almost silent ! No constant eeerrrrrrrrrgggggg( you know what I mean that bl*y fan noise type sound) from the back of the machine at all. Really quiet and the room was silent !
Upon realisation of this fact I thought I should get the machine doing a few tasks and see if that did not induce some noise from the machine. I had about ten apps runnning Garage band imovie idvd mail safari iphoto itunes vlc player and whatever and then played a little nanosour the free stupid game that comes with the computer and it did not even make the slightest difference the noise level was the same, virtually silent. Very impressive. But what about my machine ? the fans always make noise and when I run more than a couple of apps they rev up. So I guess I will have to complain to apple. Fine but how much human life is going to get waisted like this before someone can just get on with there work. Ok I could ignore it ! But that would meen me coming out of my £1200 purchase without as good a machine as others have and that rubs me up the wrong way. So what the f**k, I will be phoning apple, god how boring ! Why can't they just get it right ? Quality control ? I do not understand.

It seems the 17" iSight is much quiet than the 20". This is a turnaround from the previous versions. If you can, I would suggest you return the bigger iSight and exchange it for the smaller version. I don't know how extensive it is but it seems more and more people are complaining about the fan noise. Your questions are well taken. I don't know why they can't get it right. It absolutely amazes me. Apples response is: perception. You perceive there is noise when actually there isn't. Can't you understand that. Within specs. is another well worn phrase Apple uses.

HT3226 my mail will just not open, when i try to open it it just gets stuck with the mail home page half open and when i click on the icon at the bottom it says app not responding, is there anything i can do myself or is this a trip to the Apple store?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

Help with Flash MX 2004

I have a template designed in flash 2004 MX.
I would like to modify this (html links, action script via browser/network.)
I have flash 8 professional but this do not seems to do it.
#1. Can this be done with flash 8, if so how.
#2. If flash cannot do it, then what do I need.
I try to test Macromedia version but I am getting a trial license expired and it will not load.

Flash MX 2004 isn't supported on Windows Vista. You might
have better luck downloading Virtual PC 2007 (free) and making a
Windows XP image, then loading Flash MX 2004 onto that XP image
instead of Vista. Of course you will need a copy of Windows XP.

I have my iphone here with me. At 3.06 it was beside me whilst I was sleeping.

Must have been a server glitch or you would have definitely heard it. It plays loudly for 2 minutes unless you unlock it with your passcode.

OH when booting up " just grey screen with flashing folder with " ?" mark

OH what to do know. I have been trying to install SL on my white dual core intel computer for days. I have tried all sorts of things, DU verifiy, fix permissions--all of which pronounce my HD verified and O.K. Even tried Disk warrior that went o.k. I have even managed to begin to install SL and got to " start to install" and it actually progressed thru the installing screen --so it says installing Mac Osx on Mac HD and the blue progress bar says ' TIME REMAINING' 23 MINUTES then it seems to stop and then says " INSTALLED FAILED" THE INSTALLER ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR THAT CAUSED INSTALLATION TO FAIL" CONTACT THE SOFTWARE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE"
NOW the problem is

That means it isn't finding a startup disk...have you tried starting up while holding the Option key? That will show the bootable volumes. If there are none, then you may try starting from the old 10.5 install disk, assuming you still have it.
Also, have you tried to startup in Safe Mode? Holding the Shift key as soon AFTER the startup tone as you can, and if so, what did you get?

Just getting started with the mini. Wheres a god place to go for drivers. Had windows up to now.

Looking for drivers for hardware ,some of it a few years old. In particular an MSI starcam371i camera. Can anyone help this newbe?.

Macs are about as "plug and play" as any computer can get when it comes to USB devices.
There IS one exception to that, and it's..... Webcams.
I did about three months research before getting my Logitech C920. That's because out of about 80 different webcams Logitech makes, there are TWO (2) that I read were compatible with Mac OS above 10.5 The C615 and the one I got.
I used to have their basic $25 cam that came with headest and mic (Chatcam, they used to call it), and it worked with Snow Leopard, and Windows 7, but I had a eMac with a G4 and it wouldn't even recognize it in the USB bus. I found MaCam, a hack, that let me get it to work, but it was painfully slow to respond and the vidoe quality was terrible. MaCam doesn't work with Intel Macs though.
You may find the same issues with preformance from your older cam on your new Mac. It may just be time to look at a new one.

If you encountered video related problems with the current version of Flash Player on sites like YouTube, we're especially interested to learn if the change's we've made to 10.3 help you. We've tested this internally, and while we've seen a definite improvement, we really want to expand the scope of hardware and have those previously impacted try again.
Here's all you need to do:
1. Install the latest video drivers for your system (see step 3 on this page for video driver links and instructions.) This is important, as older drivers contain limitations and bugs that can impact hardware acceleration in Flash Player. Flash Player works with all video cards, but it's possible hardware acceleration might not be fully supported on older hardware.
2. Download and install the browser appropriate Flash Player 10.3 from labs.adobe.com. If you encounter problems installing, please let us know. When upgrade issues occur, it's recommended you run the Flash Player uninstaller (Win, Mac), then try installing again.
3. Verify that the Flash setting "Enable hardware acceleration" is checked.
For instructions on finding this setting, please see step 1 of our Troubleshoot video playback issues article. Ignore the instructions to uncheck this setting, we want hardware acceleration to be enabled (make sure “Enable hardware acceleration” is selected/checked.”) If video still fails, please disable hardware acceleration and try again.
4. Navigate to the following two video samples and verify that both video and audio play correctly:

Did I just get swindled?

I just bought CS6 Production Premium off ebay for around $1,000 and it came in a plastic dvd case with comparatively low quality printing. On the back, among other things, it said
"This is a complimentary professional installation media kit and therefore has no resale value by the end user which it was issued to. It may not be resold, copied, or otherwise distributed without prior authorization. This installation media kit is provided solely for installation purposes for Volume License customers who may or may not have internet access to download the application. This media kit is not intended to replace original installation media distributed by Adobe. The files contained on this media are the original files as are publicly available directly from adobe.com and may also be downloaded from adobe.com in lieu of installing from the provided media kit."
What should I make of this?

Sorry to hear that... Unfortunately, trying to buy any Adobe software off eBay or other online auction sites is not a good idea – Adobe does not recognize them as they're rife with bogus, unsafe, or unusable copies.
"Low quality printing" or low pricing is a certain tipoff of a scam. Hopefully, it's not too late to get your money back – if you can.
