Reboot your mac and hold down the mouse button to eject the CD-R in the drive. Then you could try it again or use another CD-R.
Slot-in drives always report the tray open if no media is recognized, nothing unusual in this case.

As I said, the backup that iTunes makes does not include apps (and music) if those items where not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you restored they will not be on the iPod.

If it's the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store that aren't working, whilst the built-in apps are ok, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

my itouch has started asking for pass codes i did not set. i have used the same 4 digit pass code for many years. i was attempting to update to iso 7 when i went to reset the device i was prompted for the code. i tried my standard 4 dig. number. also my restriction setting is on also asking for a pass code. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

I did an update and now Firefox will not load.

We were asked to do an update for firefox yesterday and ever since that we haven't been able to use it. It say's "Problem loading page, the connection has timed out.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have tried a system restore. Today I tried to go into the profile manager and delete any we had and reinstall firefox again. I am lost, anyone know what to do?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

After updating Itunes, I tried to sync my 3GS with my computer upon which I received an error message saying that the backup was not able to be completed. I then tried to restore...which I did...but NOW it will not allow me to back it up!

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

Thanks for the question. Start with completely uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below. Once this is done, download and install iTunes.

See if your Mac will boot from the install DVD.
Then uninstall Internet Cleanup.

Didn't eject my external hard drive now it will not reconnect

I just got my MacBook Air, been using a PC up until now. Earlier this morning I plugged in my external hard drive and transfered some music onto my MacBook Air. When I removed my external hard drive I didn't not eject it, now when I plug it in my MacBook does not even see it. I tried different hard drives and I can see them. I even tried using that hard drive on my old PC and it works. How do I get my MacBook to recognize the hard drive again? Still new to the whole MacBook experience.

Type: diskutil list to find your drive (mine is disk2s2)
Unmount the drive: diskutil unmount /dev/disk2s2
Mount the drive: diskutil mount /dev/disk2s2
The drive immediately appeared on my desktop allowing full access with no damaged files or corrupt disk.

I tried restarting with eject, spacebar, command e, option, trackpad, and f12 depressed, individually each time to no avail. I installed a 2 gb. ram kit and loaded OSX Snow Leopard after removing battery. I tried reinstalling the old ram with no luck..................Any help or suggestions would be welcome...........Thank You!

And you eject the CD by holding down the mouse/trackpad button before powering up; that is, before the startup chime.
BTW, if no startup chime or a different melody, RAM ist kaput.
