Did someone hack my itunes?

I woke up this morning after leaving my MacBook Pro connected to the Internet (with my iPod connected) to this message: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request." I didn't make an iTunes store request... I had not even used iTunes that evening (although it was open because I plugged in my iPod which had some data I needed for school).
Did someone hack into my iTunes?
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Forgot to menion - I'm not on a network with anyone, and my security sections should be good, because I have a WEP connection.
UPDATE: I just realized my firewall wasn't on... Was this the problem?

  • HT204088 How on earth did someone hack into my iTunes account and charge my visa/debit card? I didn't know until I got my bank statement with a fake phone # to call iTunes has this happened to anyone else?

How on earth does someone hack into my iTunes account and charge my visa/debit card? I got no emails from iTunes, so I know it's not them. This has happened twice to me and it's after I take out my credit information. I found out because of a bounced check, plus my bank statement had all the charges on it. They start small with just a few dollars but they do it every day sometimes twice a day. Then next to where they tell you who charged it, it says iTunes with a bogus phone# to call? In total they stole $224 from me. I was lucky my bank refunded the money stollen. Has this happened to anyone else?

People get their accounts hacked all the time. It's unfortunate, but true. To prevent this in the future, you need to:
    - choose a good password, with a mix of upper and lowercase letter and numbers, that someone wouldn't be able to guess by stalking you on social media sites
    - be aware of surroundings when entering a password, to be sure nobody's looking over your shoulder
    - be cautious of what you do on open wifi networks (ie, networks that do not require a password to join)
    - use a different password on each site
    - use a password manager so you don't have to remember all those different passwords

  • Did someone hack into my Mac?

I have been having problems with my trackpad. Sometimes it works well, but other times the pointer just moves around the screen for no apparent reason.
Is it possible that someone hacked into my Mac? Maybe through an email or facebook?

There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not be applicable.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
    2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor in response to user input, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
    3. Boot in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you reboot as usual, stop here and post your results. If you can't boot in safe mode, do the same. If you booted in safe mode and there was no change, go on to the next step.
    4. Reset the System Management Controller.
    5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    6. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    7. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and the unit needs to be serviced or replaced.
    8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • My WiFi name and password has changed. Did someone hack my WiFi? My computer can connect but not my iPhone 5s, and the connection for my computer is full, please help.

Hello, this is my first post.
Well lately I've been experiencing some connection issues with my iPhone 5s. I was on my iPhone just watching Youtube when my iPhone 5s disconnected, I tried to connect again by going to settings> Wi-FI> and then select my network as usual, but the weird thing is that my Wi-Fi network has changed it's name to Wireless, it used to be Wireless710. Also the password has been changed.
My computer can easily connect due to the fact that it is hardwired to the Wireless Cable Modem Gateway.
    Extra Info:
    Carrier is Sprint.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.
My Wireless Cable Modem Gateway is Netgear.
And now I am confused because when I open the small tab with the computer and a plug on the bottom right corner next to the speaker icon it says I'm not connected :/?! Here is a picture of it:
Note that I can not connect to it but am connected on my computer. It just disappeared on my phone and computer, I even unplugged my router waited for 20 seconds and connected it back in. Did it wok? for my computer yes again because it is hardwired, but my phone? No. Wireless 710 still won't show up. Is this a possible hack? Please help me as much as you all can, thank you very much.

Log in to the router's console with a web browser from your computer. What kind of encryption did you have on the router? If it was WEP that's about as secure as no encryption. It should be WPA or WPA2. There has been an exploit reported in Netgear and Linksys routers that allows someone connected to the router if Remote Access to the console is enabled to take it over and install spyware on it.
Is it your router, or the cable providers? If it is yours it has been hacked. If it belongs to the cable provider they may have changed it to make it more secure. Call them.
And if it has been hacked and is yours the best thing to do is to throw it away and get a new, more secure router. Or you can try reflashing the firmware by going to Netgear's site and downloading a clean copy.

  • Help! Someone hacked my iTunes account and downloaded $400!!!

I'm freaking out because someone got my account info and spent $400!!! My bank account is froze and i have no money because iTunes took it!!! No one has responded from my email!!!

Call your credit card company FIRST and put a hold on your card. Then tell them the situation and they will help you solve the issue.

  • How to solve someone hacking my itunes

somebody went through all the trouble of hacking into my email, just to then go for my itunes, and now very strange things have been happening, the itunes on my current comp had been deactivated, and now i have 4 machine slots filled, just where i cant simply deactivate them all, i need help, but i cant find it anywhere on-site, nothing specifies about hacking, BTW currently have no phone which only makes this more difficult, somebody please lead me in the right direction of action

First, you need to immediately change your iTunes Store account password, if you haven't already. That will at least help prevent the hackers from authorizing any further computers, if that is indeed what is happening. I would also suggest removing any credit card information, if you have been using a credit card. You can either 1) drop that iTunes Store account and start a new one (you'll need another email address, at least until you get the account set up) if you want to have credit card information stored at all times; 2) only enter in your credit card information when you want to purchase something and remove it when you're done, or 3) use prepaid iTunes card which would limit any possible losses to the amount of the card.
Then I would suggest contacting the iTunes Store Customer Service department and discussing the situation with them. Choose the Authorization category, then "Authorize/Deauthorize". If you explain the situation, a customer service rep may be able to deauthorize all the computers for you and you can then re-authorize only those you own.

  • HT5312 Well what if your iphone is stolen and someone hacks you iTunes account and you have money on the account? It's not fair that I have to suffer. I made my iTunes account when it first came out I was like 12 and don't remember my security answers

  • HT1904 Some one got into my account and purchased 12.99 worth of stuff I changed my password and someone hacked it again and this time they pureschad what do I need to do cause I can't find a number for itunes

Someone hacked into my account and baught 12.99 worth of stuff I need to know what to do cause I changed password once and twice and they figured it out somehow when my wife and I were the only ones who knew new password

First, go to your purchase history and confirm that the purchases were actually made via your iTunes Store account. Many such charges are fraudulently submitted directly to your bank and did not actually come from the iTunes Store. If the purchases do appear in your purchase history, then go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. And try to create passwords that aren't easily guessed. Including random special characters (!, @, #, etc) in a password can help, as can using capital letters or numerals.
    Regards.

  • Someone hacked into my itunes account

Someone hacked in to my itunes account and charged hundereds of pounds of downloads on to my credit card, how is this possible?

They hacked your account.  That is how it is possible.  I'm sure you could study and learn how hacking is accomplished if you desire.
Change your password, contact your credit card company and discuss reimbursement with them and then alert itunes support that your account has been hacked.

    Dear Wendy Ott,
Your Apple ID, [email protected], was just used to download 胡莱三国 for iPad from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.
If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.
If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go to iforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Tips for protecting the security of your account for further assistance.

  • Hacked at itunes store , fraudulent cc charges

I'm so disappointed in apple fraud support. Seems to be nonexistent. Frightening.
Someone has hacked my itunes account and is making credit card charges.
On a trip to Europe last month, my Bank America safe pass text alert would not work, even tho I had set up international text with ATT ahead of trip on my iphone.
Someone is now charging my cc for apps.
(I closed the cc with Bank America Visa yesterday. ) Had to pay Bank $15. to FedX a new card. Changed apple pw.
Where are you Apple fraud support????? Is it me? I've just spent 2 hours.this  is a real problem

When companies do a credit card transaction with a customer, they process the transaction thru the credit card company (Visa, MasterCard, whoever). If the credit card company approves the transaction, they are guaranteeing it.
The company will get paid by the CC company, even if it is a fraudulent transaction.
If/when you report the fraudulent transaction to the CC company, they will get in contact with the company to sort it out.
Also, I contracted iTunes store support and was told 'tough luck', take it up with PayPal and my bank
Paypal/your bank approved the transaction. They are the ones responsible.
    1. Why can't the fraudulent gift certificates just be canceled?
How is anyone to know they really are "fraudulent"? Did you file a police report or a report with yoru CC company?
    2. How did this happen?
Dunno. I never leave my cc info in my iTunes account.
Make a purchase, add the CC details, then immediately remove them.

  • When connecting ipad to iPhones personal hotspot via wifi it is showin up as 2 connections when only 1 device is connected. Is someone hacking my phone?

When connecting ipad to my iPhones personal hotspot via wifi it is showin up as 2 connections when only 1 device is connected. Is someone hacking my phone? I only figured out I had a problem when my partner did the exact same set up and it showed up as only 1 device connected. I have changed the password and turned it off/on and etc. the really weird thing is now when my ipad is turned off and I turn my iphone personal hotspot on it shows up with 1 connection (when I don't have anything connected) for about 5 secs and then goes off and then 1 device connected for about 5 secs and then back off. This just keeps going on and off. What is going on. Could my phone have a bug or be hacked. Please help as it is kinda freaking me out. Thanks.

    Hello asrt17,
This may occur if your iPhone is connected to your computer via USB, as it will automatically share the connection via USB.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Personal Hotspot
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
When Personal Hotspot is enabled, your iOS device automatically shares your Internet connection with your computer when connected using USB.
Example: When you connect iPhone to your computer to charge or sync with iTunes. To avoid unnecessary data charges, turn off Personal Hotspot when not in use.
    Cheers,
    Allen
