After 2 days of ownership (most of that spent putting software on) my lurvely 27inch IMAC it has blown up.
I wasnt doing anything at the time, it was just sat switched on whilst i talked to a collegue and BANG!!!
A bit of white fluid flew out from the vents on the bottom of the screen.
A different coloured discharge was emitted from me but i doubt apple will cover the cost of new under garments!
Still waiting for them to tell me what they are going to do.
Surely they would just ship me a new one asap but i wont find out till later today or tomorrow!!

2 Options:
i. Post it back, wait for them to do a diagnostic and then they will contact regarding the options(?). Meanwhile our business suffers.....
ii. I take it to the apple store for a diagnostic. Regardless of what they find, I cannot hand it back to them. I have to take the machine away, post it off and wait till they receive mine and then they send me one out. Or the kindly offered that i could buy a new one in the meantime whilst i wait for them to send one out!?!
What a joke. It is brand new and unfit for purpose

They couldn't do it without physical access to your phone, so ask yourself if you've let anyone use your phone recently.
Otherwise, ask the person involved.

You don't have to shut down the computer to switch accounts. All you do is click the Apple symbol in the upper left and choose Log Out and that's it. You can also set up Faster User Switching by:
1. Open System Preferences - Accounts
2. Click Login Options
3. Check the box called "Show fast user switching menu as" then choose from either icon, short name or name.
Then when someone wants to switch users they can. The advantage of this method is if you are have a document open and don't want to close it the document will remain open. If the other user attempts to shut down the computer they can't until you have logged out thereby saving all your data.
A very simple and elegant solution.

I think you want to use the automatic action for config fetch which comes with ciscoworks, right?
Did you check that the syslog message from the router came to the server?
If yes, is it in the right form? (I think it is)
I have sometimes the problem with this function that the Analyser was full of syslog messages and drops all new syslogs.

Why did apple leave out chapters from FCX?

I have been consistently surprised by Apple in that when I boutght the imac in November, I did not realize it no longer had idvd. I have purchased Final Cut Pro but have found out it does not allow you to make chapters for output to dvd. Why did they leave these things out? If I can understand why, perhaps I can adjust. I am so disappointed.

Dealing with Person column when someone leaves the organization?

We have a list which has a person (people picker) column. This column pulls from (is validated against) several possible sources including Active Directory. If a name cannot be found when adding/updating a record then the following error message
appears in red just below that field:
> No exact match was found. Click the item(s) that did not resolve for more options.
We have a particular record we are trying to update. Per security policy former employees *must* be deleted from AD. Now, however, that the person in the person column of this record has left it is impossible to update his record due to the mentioned
error message. His name won't validate even though he still exists in the User Information List.
How can this be overcome? Is it a configuration issue? It must be possible to update the record of a person who has been deleted from AD; otherwise, this would present major issues to organizations. We are considering using text for person
names instead of system-validated person columns and clearly that would not be Microsoft's intent.

The given answer indicates an issue with our security policy, but I'm told our policy of deleting (not disabling) AD accounts is fairly standard in the industry. Is Sharepoint not properly equipped to deal with deleted AD accounts? If so, it
would seem to render the people picker useless.

I would agree, this is an issue with the security policy (simply disabling users is also quite common, e.g. in case they return to the organization you can simply reactivate their account). But are you also removing the person from the User Information
List within SharePoint?

Did someone hack my itunes?

I woke up this morning after leaving my MacBook Pro connected to the Internet (with my iPod connected) to this message: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request." I didn't make an iTunes store request... I had not even used iTunes that evening (although it was open because I plugged in my iPod which had some data I needed for school).
Did someone hack into my iTunes?

If the apps were purchased using a corporate iTunes account, someone at the company should have the password. If they were purchased under a user's iTunes account, even though the device was owned by the company, the apps are tied to the user's Apple ID and do not belong to the company.

I think Winston hit the nail. I imagine the issue is you allowed the person to set up personal and private accounts on the device, not corporate controlled accounts. As such, regardless of your ownership of the device, Apple will not release or change personal or private account-related information to you.
Whether they would or not to a direct family member, I do not know, but I highly doubt they will (or legally can) do so to you as the employer for a personal account.
I know such instances have come up in the past with things like company phones and such, both involving Apple as well as other companies. The reported results in news articles were always that private information is private, and if companies want access or control, then they need to restrict employees use to only corporate provided accounts and services.

Okay. I hope I can remeber all my steps exactly because I fixed my own problem...with absolutely no help from Apple. I opened itunes. I connected my ipod touch to my computer. On my itunes page that shows my songs in the upper right side under the search library box there is an itunes button and since I am connected there is an ipod button. DO NOT CLICK THE ARROW in the ipod button...just click in the mail part of the button. On mine it opened to a summary page that gave info on my ipod. The menu bar has Summary, Apps, Tones, Music and more. I clicked on the Music button. I chose to Sync the entire music library. That replaced what was on my ipod but what was on there was going to be put back on so I was okay with it. I then clicked the Sync button on the lower right side and it sync'd and all my songs are on my ipod again. I hope this might help someone else. Good luck.

Skype bugs out when someone leaves the call in gro...

Hi all,
Lately everybody in our groupchat has been having issues when someone leaves the call.
When they leave, it looks like the whole call has been disbanded, but the people that didn't leave can't see the call.
Which concludes to: Nobody can leave the call, we have to exit skype completely and relog.
Does anyone else have this issue and does someone know how to fix this?

EDIT: When this happends, we can go into another call while being in the groupschat call.

It is a bug and there is no fix as of yet, other than loading another OS (downgrading.)

Gray screen could be any number of things, bad third party at boot kext file, a bad Apple one, a bad install/upgrade of OS X, drive corruption etc.
