He told me if I'm running Logic 7.2 on a MacBook Pro, I can still use third party plug-ins through rosetta even though Logic is running natively. This isn't true is it?

No, this is not true. You cannot run plugs in Logic 7.2 on an Intel Mac using Rosetta. They don't show up in the list of plug-ins.
You may be able to go into the AU manager and manually force the loading of non-Universal plugs, the same way you can do with plugs that fail the AU Validation, but AFAIK, this will not result in acceptable performance.
The short answer is no.
HOWEVER, you might want to avoid making any rash decisions based on this info. Most of the major manufacturers (Spectrasonics, Propellerheads, Ableton, NI, fxPansion, etc) have committed to releasing Universal Binaries within the next few months, so unless you have a big project that you have to finish immediately in Logic, you'll be ok within a few weeks or months. Then you'll have a VERY speedy machine with all the plugs you could ever dream of.
Until then, you might want to investigate just how powerful the built-in plugs are in Logic (even Express is quite full-featured). Logic has a lot of VERY nice sounding Instruments and the effects are quite usable. You might even find that using only the plugs in Logic opens up some creativity from not having to wade through mounds of presets and settings on other plugs.
But I do understand your frustration at being told something that isn't true, especially from Apple. But hang in there, the plugs are coming.
