Did you get an Internet connection?

Hi: I read ur posting, and I have the same exact set-up, ie, same Belkin router, iBook, and PC (Dell), and have a iMac. I cant get the Expander to work with my iBook--like you the airport card picks up the network but I cant get an internet connection. I read thru the thread about firmware update--did you do it and does the Belkin wireless preN router support WDS? Were u able to get it all working? I would like to get mine to work thanks!

OK, that's interesting. I just tried the download site and got this:
I tried in Firefox and Chrome.
I have never had a problem downloading iTunes before, I think it may be a temporary glitch.
You shoudl probably wait a bit and try again. Meanwhile I will try to find out if there is a known problem.
However it still might be security software messing up access to the download.
Added:
After checking, it appears that others are having the same problem. It has been reported to hosts, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

do you get internet connection everywhere without a plan on iphone 4s and do you get siri

Yeah but if his iP is already saying it's paired the issue is prob something else.
I am guessing it's just not being powered/connected right--I've had a goofy time turning mine on relative to
    other BT headsets...
With it in your ear try holding down the power button till you hear ascending chimes (descending=off).
After it's on you sometimes need to tap it once briefly (hear a beep) and then you'll see the little BT symbol on the iP if it's connected.
    Try that.

  • What to do when you have internet connection but go to use an app, you get the Error message, 'An error occurred connecting to the server. Please make sure you have an internet connection' ?

Yesterday, I downloaded the twoignite app. When I went to open the app to use, this error message appeared: An error occurred connecting to the server. Please make sure you have an internet connection. I checked my connection and found I had a solid connection. I have tried closing the app and reopening it; deleting the app and redownloading it (more than once); turning off my iphone and turning it back on. None of these things have worked. Thanks.

  • Can I create a network where the Time Capsule gets its internet connection from my iMac?

    Hi,
I've recently bought a Time Capsulebut I'm having some problems with it on my university network. It is an Eduroam network, so each computer has to authenticate before it can get an Internet connection – I can't use the Time Capsule normally as it is unable to authenticate to the network. However, I'd like to be able to create a smaller network in my room (with my computer and iDevices on so that I can use Remote and stuff, as well as to potentially get my Xbox and Kindle, which can't connect either, online).
Last time I did this, I had my iMac create an internet connection which it shared with everything else. (This was before I had the Time Capsule.) One way of solving it seems like it might be to share the Wifi internet connection with the Time Capsule through the ethernet, and then the Time Capsule can share the interent to everything else. Would this be possible? Or can you think of any other way that this could be done?
In other terms, I have an iMac, a Time Capsule, an iPhone and iPad, a Kindle and an Xbox. Only the iMac can connect to the internet and I'd like them all to be able to, as well as being on the same network. Is this possible?
    Thanks!

DropBox is another possibility for sharing files and it is free for the first 2GB of storage.

  • I'm setting up my Time Capsule for the first time and cannot get an internet connection throughWAN connection

I'm setting up my Time Capsule for the first time and can't get an internet connection via ethernet cord

    So new AC model TC??
What modem is it? Pure cable modem .. did you power cycle the modem ( OFF for at least 30min..)??
This is essential to lose the old setup and start afresh.
How have you setup the TC?
Did you try just bridge to existing router? If it doesn't get an IP and you just bought it, possible it is faulty.
Lots more details.. really important things like did the ethernet connectivity leds go on.. both the TC port and the modem port - front ethernet indicator should light up..

What do you mean it did not work!  What were the results of the diagnostic tests?
Have you contacted your ISP to determine if the problem is on their end?
Have you changed your router channel?  Sometimes this resolves wireless problems.

  • Why do i keep getting the "internet connection timeout" error message?

i have been upgrading a few standard itunes albums to itunes plus versions through my 3g mobile broadband connection, while not exactly a fast process, it was working fine until i started to get a backlog of 3 or 4 albums which were waiting in a queue to be downloaded, now every time i do the "check for downloads" option i get the "internet connection timed out" error message...this has been going on for 2 days! am i right in suspecting the backlog of albums is too much for my 3g mobile broadband connection? this is really doing my head in, if any of you techies could help me, it'd be much appreciated...?

yes i have recently updated to itunes 8.2.1, but i am starting to think its apple's servers (i tried to download at my brothers house...different computer and connection...same connection timeout error), because it will still let me download an album, but not necessarily all of the tracks. when i questioned itunes customer services about the seemingly hit and miss state of affairs with downloading, they told me to wait 3 weeks before trying to download the tracks that were giving me the grief (2 tracks from an arctic monkeys album)...which kinda indicates they know there is a problem and are trying to fix it, why else would they say wait 3 wks??? they gave me 5 free music tracks too, which is handy.

Many have reported that they got the update it fixed the reboot bug, and that they are seeing improvement in the phones functionality in general. Some people have reported that they have heard that the update is causing more problems. What I have yet to see (And I might have simply missed them) is reports from users that this has actually happened to them. So hear is what Im asking
    1) Did you get the Update Yes, I requested it at 7:50pm, 7/8/11
    2) Did it Fix The Reboot Bug From The Last Update Yes
    3) How is the performance of the phone now  Much better, I no longer have data drops so I no longer need to turn on and off Airplane mode to get data back
    4) Has the latest update brought any new problems Zilch, none, nada, nope
Hopefully this clears up any confusion and we can all get a clear idea of weather this update is a worth bothering with.

  • How to configure my netwok in solaris 10 to get an  internet connection

    Hi,
I am new to this forum and to Solaris in general. I am sorry if this question was asked and treated before.
I just successfully installed Solaris 10 on an intel based workstation. I have an ip address that shows that is "**static**". I have a Fios router which i can get to from Mozilla firefox by opening 192.168.1.1 but i cannot get an internet connection even to register my copy of of Solaris or to get updates.
In the network proxy configuration, I selected : Direct internet connection. My Ip address is 192.168.1.2. I believe it shoub be dynamic not static and if it is true how to cdit the settings to use DHCP. Your help is very appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Aerkadri

If you want your Solaris system to use DHCP, the cleanest way to do this is to run '/usr/sbin/sys-unconfig', let the system reboot, and tell it to use DHCP when it asks you to set up networking.

  • I have just bought a ibook g4  how do you get the internet

how d you get the internet working from the airport , i have an airport extreme and the spec says airport how do i connect to the internet

You can connect to the Internet via the Ethernet port or wirelessly. To connect either way you need to have internet service from an Internet Service Provider, or via Wi-Fi. To connect wirelessly at home you need a wireless router like an Airport Extreme base station.
Please do post back with further questions or comments if any.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  • How do I get the internet connection back onto ipad even though it connects to Wifi successfully and I have checked on my iPhone which does connect via the same wifi and to the internet?

How do I get the internet connection back onto ipad even though it connects to Wifi successfully and I have checked on my iPhone which does connect via the same wifi and to the internet?

Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make/model, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • Nokia 1020 - any way to get an internet connection...

There doesn't seem to be any way to get networking via BT.
As a possibly separate issue, I can connect to my Nokia 808 over BT and they pair up OK, but the 1020 doesn't see any network, dial-up or any other service like that in the 808.
Every windows laptop and even a win8.0 Lenovo tablet can connect to the 808 over BT, and all but win8.x devices can also do it over wifi (Joikuspot). Why can't the win8.1 Nokia phone do this?

In that case, what methods *are* available on the 1020 for getting an internet connection, other than using
    - built-in GSM/3G/4G, or
    - built-in WIFI (infrastructure mode only)
Can one do it via USB?
Why is adhoc WIFI or bluetooth insecure, for a personal temporary internet connection, from another device, used typically while travelling and used to make sure that roaming costs are contained within the one device on which there is a decent roaming data package?
Currently the only way I see is a 3G-WIFI modem (e.g. the E585) with a locally puchased data SIM inside it, but such deals are available only in some countries in Europe. They also tend to be really difficult to purchase e.g. in Greece you spend an hour or two in a phone shop, proving your identity with a passport and other documents.
Was this done because the networks (who own the phone shops) insisted on it, as a condition of carrying the phone in their shops?

  • How easy is it to plug a windows laptop into the ethernet port of a Time Capsule and for it to get an internet connection?

I use Time Capsule to distrubute wifi thoughout my home.  I have an office laptop (windows) that my company's IT dept won't install a wireless card in (for security reasons????).  Can I get an intenet connection to the laptop if I connect it to an ethernet port on the back of the TC?

Can I get an intenet connection to the laptop if I connect it to an ethernet port on the back of the TC?
If you can get an Internet connection when you test using your iMac's Ethernet port, then you know that the Ethernet port is working on the TC and the Ethernet cable is also working.
You should be able to get a connection on any other computer in the same way.
If you cannot get an Internet connection on the PC with the same hook up, then you will need to do some troubleshooting on the PC....or call the IT guys at the company to find out what type of block they may have on the PC.

  • Updating firmware when I can't get an internet connection through the router

I am trying to update the firmware for WRT54G V8, but some of the instructions indicate I need to have the router connected and be connected to the internet.  I cannot get an internet connection through the router.  Can I upgrade firmware without being connected to the internet through the router.  (I have had this router for about a year and a half with no problems until now.)

Yes, you can upgrade the firmware without an Internet connection.
To upgrade the firmware, first download the new firmware into a computer that you can wire to your router.
Next, power down your entire network.
Then wire the computer to a LAN port on the router.
Disconnect all other wires from the router.
Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    Power up your computer.
Login to the router, and do the firmware upgrade  (it will likely take several minutes).
    Power down your entire network.
Next you need to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is likely dead. Report back with this problem
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. Report back with this problem.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.
