Did you know that a phone number from a webpage loads to your contacts?

Very cool - I was looking up the phone number of a restaurant on its web page using my iPhone; the phone displays all telephone numbers as blue links - touch it and the phone dials. But, this I didn't know, the phone also names the number and puts it in your contacts list! No $1.50 calls to 411; no reason to write down or enter the info yourself, it's there! And if you don't want it for some reason, just delete the contact. Who would want that "ZUNE" thing when Apple's products anticipate what you want to do? I love my iPhone!

Interesting - it somewhat works for me.
I have used Safari Google (m) to find a business, clicked on the found link and iPhone took me to the Maps application, tapped the info bubble in the map, and it formatted the new contact for me, Name, phone, address, webpage etc - and gives me the choice to create a new contact or add to existing contact. I've used this feature a few times in the wild, but never noticed the contact being created automatically without a confirmation.
First time it happened I whooped out loud (on the street) - okay, I'm a geek.

  • Did you know that the software purchased from the App Store could be an old version?

Today I purchased Adobe Photoshops Elements fro the App Store.  I never thought to check the version number, it never crossed my mind that could be the old version I was buying.  Apparently the latest version available on the App store is version 10 however the new version 11 was released back in Spetember apparently.  Once I had realised my error (as I would never have bought it if I was aware of this) I contacted Apple tech support.  To cut to the chase they believe that I was not mis-sold the software as the software states version 10 in the App Store.

Adobe must send the application to the App Store so Apple can put it in the App Store. If you want 11, purchase it in Adobe webpage or contact with Adobe and ask them if they're going to send the most recent version to Apple

An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID.
How do I change my Apple ID Name or personal information?
You can change your Apple ID Name at My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes. Changes take effect immediately. You can also use My Apple ID to change your personal information, such as your mailing address or email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

Did you know that Verizonwireless is saving your checking account information when you pay your bill by check and then making it part of your "MyVerizon"  without you adding it? This means of course if they get hacked that information could be compromised. What do you think of this?

Credit card and debit card and checking and savings information is encrypted so it is possible to be hacked, but the odds are greater to get hit by the Love Boat then to have a wide scale hack.
Oh yes they do happen, Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, Target and quite a few others. But in all the years I have paid my invoice with saved card information I never been hacked.
You use good passwords and the risk is minimal.
    Good Luck

  • Did you know that the  carrier Verizon offer the merge conference call or internet while on call on the iphone? Only AT

Did you know that you can't use the merge function on a iPhone 4s with Verizon Wireless? They blocked the function only AT&T has it, also Verizon doesn't allow browsing the Internet while on a call like AT&T, huge mistake Verizon. For people that conference call, don't get tricked into changing carriers until Verizon changes this feature.

Not sure about the merging of calls, but being able to browse the internet while on a call can't be done with CDMA technology -- so it's not that Verizon doesn't allow it, it just can't be done on their network. This is old news ...

  • Is there an ical/iphone app that allows you to call a phone number from ica

I schedule hourly appointments with clients and type the name and phone number for each client directly on the schedule. Does anybody know of an app that would allow me to simply tap on that phone number from ical to call the client? Otherwise, i have to look at ical on my phone, remember the number, click to phone and enter it in manually. Thanks!

There no app for that, no. But, if you enter the number into the Notes field of the appointment (but not the name or location fields), you can tap the number to dial it from the Calendar app.

I deleated pictures from my photo stream that were placed in albums.  I did not know that by doing this I removed them from the albums as well.  Is there any way to get this photos back?

Not unless they are still in your camera roll, or backed up on your computer.  Photo stream photos are not automatically backed up anywhere.

  • Did you know that if your phone is stolen, Find my Phone is useless?

Lessons from my lost iPhone. Despite having a pin to unlock the iPhone, you can simply power off the phone with a long press of the power button. Which means that if your phone is stolen and the thief is smart enough to turn it off (is there one who isn't?), 'Find my phone' is virtually useless!
Also, you can use Siri on a locked phone to make phone calls and send messages. There are also enough tips available on the internet that show you how to use Siri to unlock the phone, making all your photos, emails and other information available to anyone keen enough to find it.
I've written to Apple to tell them that a phone lock should really do what it says - LOCK the phone! If you own an iPhone and would like the same please write to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Perhaps when enough people write they'll actually take some notice!

This subject is discussed fairly frequently. Find my iPhone is not useful unless a particularly ignorant thief takes it. It's primary use is to find lost phones, not stolen. Requiring a passcode to turn it off eliminates one way a thief can disable Find my iPhone, but it isn't the only one, and probably isn't the one used by most professional thieves. Among other ways to disable Find my iPhone:
    Remove the SIM
    Wrap in aluminum foil
Drop in a shoplifter's bag or backpack with its Faraday shield (copper mesh or foil lining)
Restore the phone from DFU mode
The Activation Lock feature, which prevents a stolen phone from ever being used again, except by the rightful owner, is the more valuable deterrent against theft. Once word gets around that a stolen iPhone is useless the market value of stolen phones will drop precipitously, and thieves will switch to stealing Android phones.

  • Does ios6 allow you to block a phone number from being received in the future?

I know that previous versions of iOS did not provide the ability to block a phone number in the "Call History" menu from ever being received again, but what about iOS6?

    Hey Paul,
Michael is right, you can easily get around it by simply assigning a silent ringtone.
Google "silent ringtone" (don't pay for it, you can find it free) and download it. I've created an "Annoying Cr@p"
"contact" that I've assigned the silent ringtone to and I simply cut and paste the numbers I want blocked into it.
No more salesmen, political party calls, etc.- the phone does light up when they call, but you hear nothing- and usually miss them all together.  I've assigned a nice little image of a stuffed dog pooh to it (google "poop toy"), and when someone does see it (as one of my co-workers saw it light up on my desk once) it makes for a *great* laugh.
Works like a champ.  Takes minutes.

  • How do you add a phone number from recent history to an exisiting contact?

    Hi all,
I just upgraded to a Razr M from a Droid X. When I'd get a call or make one to a new number that, for whatever reason, was not in my contacts, it was a simple matter to add. This seems to have the same buttons to add to an existing contact, but it simply refused to do so.
Let me explain with an example. I had transferred via syncing the backup assistant, my contacts. However, the very first number I went to dial was not in my list at all, which was strange because he was not only in my list but on on favorites and on one of my home screens (so you'd think he'd transfer over). Regardless, after I dialed his number by looking him up off the old phone, I hung up and went to add him. He still wasn't showing in my list. So I went to the Facebook app, thinking maybe he'd pull over that way. Sure it enough it found him but no phone number (no big surprise but some people allow a number to be shown for friends). So now that I have his FB account, I went back to recent calls, pressed and held, and then selected add to existing. I found him in the list, pressed that contact, and hit save. But it refused to link the phone number to his contact info. No matter how many times I re-tried this and hit save (and looked for other buttons to press to no avail), I could not add him.
I assume that if it will crew up for him, it will screw up for others.
Please help. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I link a phone number I've dialed (or received) to one of my existing contacts?? Is there some step I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't worry Mark_and_Karla, you are not really doing the wrong steps, it just needs a few tweeks. What most likely is happening is that some of your contacts may have been synced with your gmail account set up on your old and new phone. This means that it would not show up in your backup assistant listing but rather your google contacts. If you go into your people app and then select the menu button (three vertical square boxes bottom right) you will select Contacts to display. You should see an option for your gmail account contacts. If you see the contact in their then that means it is saved under that form.
Now you can choose to customize to show both your backup assistant contacts and gmail contacts while in the contacts to display screen. Now in regards to not being able to sync the number to the FB contact listing, it is not an option. All the contacts listed under FB contacts are non editable because they only show you information linked to their FB and that information can only be edited by that user. Now if you create a contact with the same name, the FB app should integrate the two into one contact eventually once it does an update. This is only if you chose to sync contacts with FB when you set up the FB app on your phone. You can delete and redownload the FB app to get this option again. Overall if you follow these steps, you should be able to find and or sync that and other contacts on your phone.
