Didn't download, but got a malware email

I just got the NACHAm "Your payment has been rejected and read the .exe attachment" Zeus malware email today (it's been floating around since 2009). I don't have Windows or any window apps on my Mac, and am running 10.6.8.
As soon as I saw this I had a feeling it was suspicious and spent about an hour now reviewing various posts, comments, blogs, etc. about it.
Nothing answers my question however, which is, "if I didn't download the file or attempt to run the exe and just read the email, do i need to do anything else, run anything or check anything, or can I just delete the email (or send it to my host) and get on with my life? "
Thanks. GJ

Seeing as how it is a .exe file which can only run on Windows not to worry. Delete it and forget it.

  • The movie I bought didn't download, but my money was still taken. How do I get my money or movie?

The movie I bought didn't download, but my money was still taken. What do I do to get my movie to show, or to get my money back?

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

    Hello trishafromok,
Thanks for the question. I recommend deleting and re-downloading the purchase from your purchase history (check that it is in your history before deleting):

  • Aaargh! My app update was rejected but got no explanation email... :(

Anyone had this happen to them? This is a major update of my app that brings many improvements that users asked for. I and my users as well have been eagerly waiting for it to come online for more than a week now, and now I see this completely unexplained rejection! Apple, come on you are hurting your users If there is a bug (there are a couple of small ones I know of) they should tell me to fix it, but this way what exactly are they expecting me to do now? Please help if you have any suggestions or experienced similar problems, I am very frustrated.

It's possible your spam filters ate the email. The one rejection I've received came with an email explanation. Send an email to the Apple using the Contact link at the bottom of the Manage Apps screen. But double check your spam folder.

    Hello panco469,
    Welcome to the forums.
At this point you will need to contact your wireless service provider and have them transfer your call to Research In Motion® for investigation.
Hope this helps. Have a good day.

    Your question is unclear...
Do you purchase these Apps using your Apple ID or are they your partners Apps...
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

  • IPhone got virus through email - doesn't affect phone but has spread to PC

I had a Windows Vista computer that would boot up and programs could open but, once opened, the programs were totally unresponsive. The mouse worked, but wouldn't click on any part of an open window (not anything - browser window, Word, Excel...nothing would work once opened). I couldnt even reinstall Windows. This computer was older and I had been intending on replacing.
I got a new HP with Windows 7, all programs loaded fine, all pictures and documents were restored. When I plugged in my iPhone to sync my mail contacts, my computer froze after a few minutes. I rebooted and it started acting exactly like my old one. It appears that my iPhone might be carrying a virus. The phone works fine, but I think an email might have had a virus attached to it. I did get a couple wierd emails from a cousin a couple of weeks ago.
Has anyone heard of anything like this, or more importantly, does anyone know how to scan and remove a virus from an iPhone.
    Thanks!

Is it possible that one of the songs or videos in iTunes has the virus?
Extremely unlikely. I have seen no reports of any virus that can attach to a AAC or MP3 file or MP4 video.
It doesn't make any sense that a brand new computer (that hadn't had any emails downloaded on it) would have gotten a virus and started acting the same way as my old one.
Viruses and worms can spread to computers from multiple sources, including from an infected backup or from another computer. Do you not run antivirus and antispyware on your computer?
The computer froze when I was syncing, so I must believe that it has to do with either the iPhone or iTunes.
A computer freeze may have something to do with the iPhone or iTunes but that doesn't necessarily mean that a virus is involved.

  • I downloaded an album from iTunes and some of the songs downloaded but others didn't there was an error message 8003 Unknown error occurred. While I downloaded the album to my phone, it wouldn't download to my mac, what am I doing wrong???

I purchased an album on ITunes store, while the items downloaded to my phone, it didn't download to my mac. Some of the songs downloaded but not the majority, when I try to download the songs, it gives me an error 8003 Unknown error occured. What am I doing wrong? If I can't download this album, how do I get a credit??

    Hello mercdw,
Once the music has been downloaded to your iPhone, you can transfer purchases from your device to iTunes.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Alternatively, the following article provides further information regarding this error and steps that can help resolve the issue.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

  • I downloaded an Adobe file from my email but cannot find it on my hard drive or in recycle bin - it's in downloads but am unable to open from downloads - how can I recover the file?

I downloaded an Adobe file from my email (service provider is MWeb) but now cannot find it on my hard drive and it's not in the recycle bin. It does, however, appear in Firefox downloads but I'm unable to open it from there. How can I recover the file?

    Thanks Rob.
I actually had no clue what the core problem was caused by. So it's Windows itself...that helps some.
I'll resubmit there. It might actually have saved time for it to simply have been moved to there instead of off-topic, though I suppose you have to follow protocol.

  • HT5625 multiple apple id's and icloud has one saved that i didn't set up... but it is my email i use daily, but my apple id pass wont email or work

I have an iphone 4 and have just installed the new ios. so my apple id for "icloud" is my email with gmail, but i can't remember my password for that apple id. I have requested it to be reset but it hasn't emailed me anything to reset it. It says to check one of my old email accounts (school email address), but when i check it I don't have any new emails from apple there either...? My itunes apple id on my phone (different apple id) does work and that is the one i'm using to post this request for help. I can't even delete the apple id that my phone says is my "icloud" apple id because that also requires that i know the password for id that i didn't even set up (gmail email address). i did link my gmail email address to my apple id a while back, but now it has come back to haunt me. anyone know anything about how to consolidate these id's and make just one? i need help! i can't use icloud at all until this is resolved... thanks for any help that you can provide!

I haven't used my Apple ID since I last had an iPhone over 2 years ago. Yesterday when I ordered my iPhone 6 I decided I wanted to create a new Apple ID, because I no longer use the email that I used to use.
    Simply update your old AppleID.
