Didn't sync contacts' addresses

All of my contacts were on my iPod that is no longer in use since I now have an iPhone. I always synced EVERYTHING so it wouldn't be lost. Now I can't find any of my contacts' addresses. How do I find them?

Have you double checked to make sure there's no backup file for you to restore from? iTunes will normally backup your info before updating. Apps can be redownloaded at no charge. If you have proof of all your purchases for music, you can contact iTunes Store support through the website. They will usually regrant that music for you and put it back into your download queue.

Download the COMBO Update and try that, that is iof you haven't already.
If that fails then you could boot to the Recovery HD and do a Reinstall Over the Top of your current install. That will replace all the system files with the current versions, 10.7.4, and leave all your other files alone, programs and data file.

  • Can't Sync Contacts & Address Book on iPhone

Very frustrated, software update today didn't help. I have MobileMe with iPhone. My iMac, MacBook Pro, and MobileMe "cloud" sync perfectly, but will not sync contacts or calendar with my iPhone, no matter what I do. Tried MobileMeSupport, but no help. I have already tried turning off/on sync in Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and have deleted and recreated account (5 times). Turned iPhone off/on. I just don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Pity it didn't help. Your problem sounded very similar to mine.
The only other solution I can think of is to make sure any trace of the palm software it removed.

Before you remove a Palm OS device from your iSync device list, make sure that the Palm HotSync application isn't running. If it is, quit it, then remove the Palm device in iSync. Otherwise, the Palm device may reappear in iSync.
Last thing would be to select 'Reset Sync History' from the iSync preferences.

  • Trouble syncing Contact addresses to iphone 5

I just upgraded from an iphone 3g to an iphone 5. I also upgraded my ios to 7.  I have always synced my outlook contacts and calendar with my phone. However, after this upgrade, I noticed SOME of my outlook addresses are missing from my phone contacts. They are still on my laptop, but not the phone, and it is only some of the addresses. I can't find any rhyme or reason as to which transferred and which didn't. I tried syncing again, but didn't correct the problem. Any thoughts or fixes????  At the same time my husband bought an iphone 5 (his first iphone) and we have syncd his phone to the same laptop and the same problem happened on his phone.

You need to creat more spaceby deleting more content or you can update via itunes on your computer.

  • Syncing contacts/address book with Gmail

What is the sync icon on the Menulet bar syncing when I click on this icon?
I have new iMac. I use Google Apps where I have my contacts and calendar. My mail is pulled from the Google servers to Outlook 2011.
iCal seems to sync correctly with my Google Calendar. However I have many duplicate contacts in Address Book. I have Microsoft Office 2011 with Outlook on my iMac. In Outlook 2011 under Contacts I have these same duplicate contacts.
If I correct the duplicate contacts in Gmail, will clicking on the Sync icon on the menulet bar sync Address Book and Outlook 2011 contacts with the corrected contact list in Gmail? I want the Google contacts to receive any changes I make in Address Book and Outlook, and any changes I make in Gmail contacts to be received in Address Book and Outlook. Will this be done automatically or must I click the Sync icon on the menulet bar?

I have resolved this problem. I found that it is not necessary to click on the the Sync icon to have Address Book, iCal, and Outlook 2011 sync with Google Mail. I have over 2,500 duplicate contacts in Google Mail. I uses the tool in Google Mail/contacts to find duplicate and merged them. All is well.

  • Sync of address book/contacts not "taking"

I watched the tutorial on how to sync my address book on my laptop with the iMac contacts. Then I followed the instructions today (8/12/07), and I seemed to have synced successfully. However, when I login to iMac and open the address book, I still get the message "Last synchronized on 07/08/2007 at 10:55 AM" and the data is NOT synced. I've gotten no error message to indicate that I didn't sync properly, so why is the data not updated?
Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

The simplest way to do that would be to create a group in Contacts that has just the ones you want and only sync that group to your iPhone.

  • Iphone 4 Contacts not syncing to Address Book

    Hi,
I have an Iphone 4 with latest software 4.3 and have been syncing contacts to the address book on my macbook pro via iTunes. It has recently stopped updating any new contacts I add to my phone to the address book. Any help much appreciated.

I've been working on making my contacts sync properly for the past 2 hours. I basically did what Jimmy Crown suggested but with a couple added steps.
"Go to Settings, Mail, and then scan through all your accounts and make sure that the contacts switch is turned OFF for each mail account.
I believe this setting overrides the address book sync with instructions to sync with mail. So once you switch it off, the address book on your mac should automatically start syncing with your iphone."
When I turned off my iCloud - Contacts it asked if I wanted to delete contacts or merge them. I of course merged them because the contacts I couldn't get off my phone and on to my computer were certain iCloud ones. When I merged them I now had double contacts for roughly 120 people. I then synced my phone with my computer. This created double contacts on my computer and phone. To take care of this I opened address book on my computer, clicked on Card, then Look for Duplicates. Once it found all the duplicates I checked the box then clicked Merge.
I then re-sync'd in iTunes but made sure I had the "Replace information on this iPhone" contacts box check marked. This took care of all the duplicates on my phone.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I sync contacts in my address book to my iPod Touch 2nd Generation with iTunes 10.5.2?

My iPod Touch with OS 4.2.1 will no longer sync contacts from my address book on my computer now that I've upgraded to iTunes 10.5.2 and to Lion.  I have ensured that the iPod Touch is set to synchronize all my contacts.   The calendar continues to sync.

I have the same situation. I believe I disconnected iCloud by going into preferences and also unclicking the box for Contacts. What am I missing?

  • HT1351 My fifth generation nano will no longer sync my address book from my Mac. It gives me an error message that "You have no contacts" and asks me if I want to create some.  My address book is full of contacts. Sync works for everything else.

My 5th generation nano will no longer Sync my address book from my Mac.  It gives me a message that I have no "Contacts", and asks if I want to create some.  My address book is full of contacts, but for some reason it thinks it is empty.  All the other sync operations work fine including iCal.  My Mac is running OS X 10.7.4.

It sounds like all of your contacts on your Mac running Lion are actually stored up in iCloud.
Several users running Mac OS X Lion and now ML (and iCloud) have no longer been able to "sync" contacts over to their older iPods models.
A work around is to export all of your contacts out of Address Book as vCards and them copy these vCards into your iPod's Contacts folder.  You'll need to have the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in order to browse out to the iPod's Contacts folder via the Finder.
Using your iPod as a storage drive
That's the only "solution" I have been able to use to get contacts to sync/appear on my 5G iPod Video.

  • IPod Touch (yet another) syncing problem contacts, address book

I have a new 2nd gen Touch 8g. I am trying to sync to my MacBook Pro. Would like to sync all my contacts and calendar info from my old Palm, but that is not my question today. I am unable to sync my Address Book and iCal information to Contacts and Calendar on the Touch. Specifics:
    - OS X is 10.5.6
    - iTunes is 8.1, recently updated
    - iTouch software is 2.2.1, recently updated
    - Address Book is 4.1.1
    - iCal is 3.0.6
I can "sync" using iTunes. It backs up the Touch. It syncs the music. It doesn't sync the Address Book or Contacts properly.
    History:
    - At first, I set it to sync the Address Book and Contacts (not Calendar and iCal). It would go through the sync process until "Updating Contacts with..." It would hang there overnight. This happened when there were 200+ contacts in Address Book on the Mac but none on the Touch. I cancelled after overnight hours and found none on the Touch.
    - Deleted all Address Book contacts. Now there were none on either Mac or Touch. Still would spin the "Updating Contacts with..." for hours.
    - Set iTunes to sync both Address Book and iCal. Added 1 simple contact in Address Book. Added 1 event in iCal. Synced. The sync completed but nothing was transferred between the Mac and the Touch.
    - Added 1 contact in Contacts on Touch and 1 event in Calendar on Touch. Synced. Each still had 1 contact, 1 event, but not the same ones.
    - Set iTunes to replace the information on the iPod (one time). The sync completed, and erased the contact and calendar event on the Touch, and put the 1 iCal event onto the Touch (yea!) but not the contact from Address Book (boo!).
    - Tried multiple more times. I can add a calendar event on the Touch, but it never appears on iCal on the Mac. I can add a contact on the Touch or in Address Book on the Mac, but the two never sync up to show on the other.
    Other details:
    - I don't use Google Contacts or Calendar
    - I don't use MobileMe (or really know what it is yet)
    - I did use iSync to try to sync all my Palm info (not successfully), but stopped trying and reset the sync history, just in case.
    - I don't use USB hubs, and I do the sync with just the Touch attached via the cable it came with directly into the MacBook Pro.
    - I've read hundreds of posts here and elsewhere. I've restarted programs multiple times. I've updated software. I've tried following the advice of all the posts I could, even if they weren't precisely what I was experiencing.
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas as to what I should try next? I bought this thing to replace my Palm as my PDA, but it won't be any good unless I can sync the darn thing. I've been working on this for almost 3 days straight and am going bug eyed reading all the info on the web. ANY help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

I managed to get the sync to work after much shutting down and restarting, of programs and the computer. I cleared the iSync history just in case. I closed programs, etc. Eventually, it just worked and has continued to do so ever since. It is not slow, but rather quick.
    All is well.
Now, the conversion from Palm is another story.....

  • IPhone not syncing Contacts to Address Book

I noticed that my iPhone (both original iPhone and iPhone 3G) was not syncing contacts with Address Book. I tried to Reset Sync History in iSync, and when I have tried to replace the contacts on iPhone under the Advanced options, I lose all my contacts on the iPhone!
The only way to get some contacts back is restoring from backup, but unfortunately as iTunes performs a backup of the iPhone on sync, these backups also have no contacts! I have an old backup that fortunately has not been overwritten but the contact list is a bit out of date.
Address Book on the Mac seems to be fine and this is backed up.
It would appear that iTunes has somehow lost its "connection" to Address Book, which is why when I chose to replace the Contacts on the iPhone with the information on the computer I lost them all!
iCal still seems to sync fine with Calendar.
Can I re-link Address Book with iTunes?

    Jason L wrote:
    Hey lim_my,
Are contacts syncing with MobileMe or any other applications?
    I don't have MobileMe.
Now you mention it, Address Book did not appear to even update if I updated a contact in Mail.
Can you sync contacts in another User account? to create another user account goto System Preferences> Accounts> click the lock to make changes> click the + button to add another user account.
Yes I can! I only tried to sync Contacts, leaving all other options i.e Calendars Bookmarks Ringtones Music Videos Applications untouched, and now I have some test Contacts on the iPhone.
You can try Resetting the SyncServices folder, Just follow the steps in this article to stop the service and then delete the SyncServices folder in your user library.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I had tried this before, within iSync, which did not work. I then tried the command in Terminal as per the above link, then went and deleted the /user/Library/ Sync Services folder. Still no joy.
So it looks as though I have a broken Address Book rather than iTunes. Should I post this in the OS X Leopard section of Discussions?

  • How to sync contacts and Address Book with New IPad?

    Hello!
I'm having no luck syncing Contacts. I've set iCloud settings to sync Contacts, as shown in the iPad manual. I want to sync Contacts on my new iPad with Address Book (5.0.3) on my laptop (10.6.8) and with Address Book on my iMac (10.5.8).
I've had some success by 'manually' using iTunes on the iMac and the laptop (iTunes>Devices>iPad>Info button>Sync Contacts>All Contacts). But this is not pulling contacts from the iPad to the iMac or laptop; not syncing, just one-way traffic.
    Thanks
    Potty

You'll have to update to Mac OS X Lion.
It's in the requirements listed at the bottom of this page -> Apple - iCloud - Your info up to date on all your devices.

  • Gmail contact addresses not syncing properly in iOS 4

Since updating my 3GS to iOS 4, I've noticed a change in the way contact addresses are entered: there is a separate field for each individual address component. The problem is that all my contact addresses are now populating the fields incorrectly. The street address line goes into the street address field okay, but then the city, state and zip all get put into the "city" field. If a contact has an address with two "street" lines, then the first goes into a "street" field correctly, but then the second "street" line goes into the "city" field, and the city, state and zip all go into the "state" field.
I use Google Sync to sync up my contacts with my Gmail account, and since address entries in Gmail are free-form, I wonder if this might be an issue with Apple parsing the address data incorrectly. It seems it's just spitting up the data into the fields using line breaks (which is quite clumsy, IMHO).
    _Address in Gmail:_
    12345 Sesame Street
    New York, NY 10022
_Shows up in iPhone contacts as:_
    Street: 12345 Sesame Street
    City: New York, NY 10022
    State:
    Zip:
If I fix the address so each component is in the correct field on my iPhone, each address component displays on a separate line in Gmail, which looks ridiculous.
    Example:
    12345 Sesame Street
    New York
    NY
    10022
Has anyone else experienced this issue with iOS 4? Is this an Apple bug or a Gmail bug?

    You are not alone!
I use mobileme to sync my contacts data, as opposed to gmail... so I am unable to provide advice.
However a quick search on here shows that you are not the lone ranger:

Browse some of those pages mate and see if there are any resolutions that will work for you.

  • Syncing contacts between iPhone and Address Book Server

How does one sync contacts from the Address Book Server with the iPhone?
The Apple ad says, "With Address Book, you can even synchronize contacts to your iPhone for accessing your contacts on the go."
    How?

Ugh...I just spent lots of hours over the last several days trying to figure this out and was coming to the conclusion that it could be that it really doesn't work as advertising. It seems confirmed now.
A bit disappointing that it seems like it would be better to run an Exchange server instead of Snow Leopard server....
I have MobileMe as well, but it doesn't seem like I can get SL Server --> Mac Addressbook.app --> MobileMe --> iPhone... but I'll give it a few tries.
