Diff b/w activate storage section chk via menu path & OMLZ

Hi,
In SPRO>LE>WM>Strategies>Putaway strategies>Define strategy for Fixed Bin,
While activating putaway strategy as "Fixed Bin" it is not possible to tick the check Box "Storage Chk. section active" & getting error as "If you have st.pl.str. "Fixed bin", the area check must not be active"
But in Tcode OMLZ, i can able to activate this Storage section Chk.
I want to understand why such difference & what is the impact if i activate it in OMLZ

Hi,
OMLZ is storage section search and the menu path is for putaway strategy, both are completely different.
Error message, is you are giving a particular bin as fixed bin but the storage section search is active for that. When the storage section search is active, i beleive fixed bin indicator is not possible.

you can activate the storage section determination in img path: Logistics Execution --> Warehouse Management -->
Strategies --> Activate Storage Section Search --> activate --> you have three options..
No storage section determination or check
X Storage section determination and check
Y Storage section determination, no check
same way you can activate the storage bin check for putaway stragegies.

You probably didn't activate the section determination for the storage type. If don't activate this, he ignores your configured strategy.
IMG: Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Strategies -> Activate Storage Section Search -> Activate, and then check the setting for your storage type.

Override the storage section check for manual entries

I am facing a issue on Storage section search.While creating To system is giving correct Storage section according t the settings but if I would like to change the storage section to different storage section system is not giving any error message.It is giving only warning message check your enteries.
So I would like know is there is config settings to avoid another storage section selcetion which are not assignned storage search indicator.
I have checked in help.sap.com .I following information .
To set up the strategy for storage sections, see the section on activating storage section searches under Strategies in the Warehouse Management IMG documentation.
If storage section checking is active for the storage type, then the system searches in the storage type only for those empty storage bins in storage sections that have been allowed for the material being put away. When you are creating a transfer order and manually enter a storage bin, then the system checks whether the bin is in a storage section that is allowed for the material.
*You can also make an entry in customizing that permits you to override the section check for manual entries.*_
Can please advice me inorder activate the config for override the section check for manual entries or any warning message.

Storage section stragey - how does it work?

I have setted the storage section stragety in the material master, view wm1. The strategy is placing first in area A1 and then in area A2.
It's working like this: firts the units are placed in A1 Bins according with the capacity, and when all A1 Bins are full, then it places units in A2 bins. But when SAP looks for free A1 bins it's looking for in an alphanumeric way, so it first place units in A1-BIN1 and then in A1-BIN2
Is it possible that SAP first place units in the storage bin that I set in the material master, view WM2? So, for example, if I set A1-BIN2 here, this material will be placed first in this storage bin, and then it would look for free A1 bins with the alphabumeric way, but I want the firstone storage bin it places unit would be the one I set in WM2 view.

1) The storage sec indicator mentioned in the WM1 view is maintined at warehouse level and will follow the search strategy defined in SPRO.
2) Whenever putaway happens system looks at the indicator first in the WM1 view and searchs the relavant storage sec in the search sequence in the Activate storage sec search in SPRO and putaway happens.
3) The Bin number which you have mentioned in the WM2 view is a Fixed Bin and this is maintained at warehouse and storage type level and its meant for replenishment only.
So, whenever replenishment is created system will not follow the storage sec search strategy based on the indicator mentioned in the WM1 view. System just searchs the fixed bin mentioned in the WM2 view based on the storage type search strategy which has a ref indicator and which in turn is assigned to the replenishment movement type in SPRO.
So, Bin number maintained in WM2 view is fixed bin and its for Replenishment activity only.

Problem over storage section search

Hi all .
Actually , I'm facing a strange problem . When , I came to storage section search option , I got noticed that one of my warehouse's storage type ( RES - reserve storage type ) pre- assigned with "Y" option while activating the storage section search option - that means storage section determination but no check ....
In storage type settings , I made " storage section check " option , remains unchecked . That's fine - but , the paradox , I did the same storage type setting for other storage type , and they showed as " blank " not Y ...
my question is why it shows as Y , instead of blank ?

As a part of the customizing and implementation of WM, you need to check this customizing step.
When you activate the storage section check, you ought to check this step too, to make sure your
ST's have this setting as required.
So, the default values for this indicator are the following:
* On check (in ST settings) => set to X
* On uncheck (in ST sett.) => Set to Blank
I don't know if there is an option to set the default values for the actions in ST settings, but I highly doubt there are. Also, it seems that in your case it didn't change it at all, so it definitely isn't standard behavior of the system.
You need to test a bit more.
E.g. set to blank, and then activate the check, go back and see what is the result.
Then set to Y manually, then uncheck it at ST level. Again, return to check the indicator.
Now, don't change manually, but go again to ST settings and activate. Return to see the indicator value.
You can try a few more similar tests if you like...
This will give you an idea of what are the rules behind the ST settings => section search indicator (X,Y,Blank).
I have tried at two system now, and both of them behave exactly like I stated before.
Whenever I check ST section search, indicator is set to X.
When I uncheck it, indicator is reset to Blank.

the below error. where i missed the configuration
"Error occurred during storage section search (FGWM05 001)"
    Message no. L3 041
Diagnosis
    No storage area search has been defined for this material and this
    storage type.
Procedure
    Contact your system administrator! Note down the material and the
    storage type listed within parentheses in the error message.

In WM customizing Please check for your warehouse/Storage type combnation the storage section search is on and valid.
IMG>Logistics Execution>WM>Strategies>Storage section search
if there is no entry then maintain it. The nest error may be storage bin. Make sure that you create storage bin for whsno/storage type/storage section combination by using LS10 or LS01N)

Storage Section Settings

Hi Gurus
I put in the customizing of storage type Addition to stock "M" and in the material master I mark the flag for addition to stock this does not work as spected, when I receive a PO with 2 materials on it, they go to 902, then I try to process the posting change notice but I get error no destination storage bin could be found in storage type XXX
These 2 materials have the same storage section, and I have correctly defined a strategy to place accordingly this storage section,
The current putaway is L next empty bin, and if I change to "I" addn to stock then system allows the putaway but just for one materials automatically, with the second one I still get the error but If I manually type the bin of the storage section then It allows putaway too.
Can you explain what needs to be done to allow putaway of stock in a storage type wich is divided into 3 storage sections, 2 of them are assigned to two bins each (2X2=4bins), and the last storage section is linked only to one bin. (Total of 5 bins)
The rare thing here is that in the first 2 storage section that have 2 bins each, I can put material on it only one palled on each bin, if for some reason only half pallet is placed, then no more stock can be placed there, How to check this capacities?
And for last the strategy is that system tries to putaway first in storage section 1, if no empty bin then try in sto section 2, and if no empty bin there, then it should go to storage section 3 (wich has only one bin attached) but I want to make this bin like infinite capacity so if there is no room in the first two storage sections (4 bins) then it will go to the las storage section wich can allow addition to stock and mix storage.
Please your inputs will be really appreciated on what atrategy and capacity cetting need to be done on customizing and material master of material to achieve this.

Check 2:
=======
o SUT check must be active - if not, then config for SUT assignments to ST will not be used
o For the material no specific capacity data needs to be entered
o For the bin no specific capacity data needs to be entered
o Example:
             u2022     Material:          1234
             u2022     Liters per CAS:     4.800
             u2022     ST/Bin:          112/112-01-01
             u2022     Max Bin Weight:     1,500Kg
             u2022     Total Capacity:     3,000
             u2022     Stock to be placed (Weight):     907.200L = 2,721.600Kg (1L = 3Kg)
             u2022     Transaction SUT:     T1
             u2022     Allowed SUT for ST:     C1
o The system stops the transaction for the transaction SUT is not valid according the SUT allowed per Storage Type configuration. Message: Storage Unit Type is not allowed for ST112.
Check 3:

o The material must be created for the specific ST (WM2 masterdata view) and the maximum bin qty needs to be speicfied.
o For the bin no specific capacity data needs to be entered
o Example:

            u2022     Max Bin Weight:     1,500Kg

            u2022     Bin Quantity Check
            u2022     The maximum bin qty was set to 750L (Base UoM)
            u2022     The quantity of the product to be placed was 768L ( = 2,304.000Kg). This qty is more than the maximum bin quantity which is 750L (Base UoM), so according to the quantity the product may not be placed in the bin. Message: Maximum qty for storage bin 113-01-01 will be exceeded by 3.750CAS.
o Note from the above that the error message is expressed on the putaway quantity and not the capacity quantity.
o Note: No weight and volume checks are done (see the weight of transaction > bin maximum weight)

o Additional config: SPRO  Logistics Execution  Warehouse Management  Master Data  Material  Define Storage Unit Types - Specify the capacity for the SUT

o For the bin the Total Capacity field must be filled

Putaway in storage section PA1 is not allowed

Hello,
While creating TO against TR in LT04 system is giving error message as above said in subject line.
I have checked in LX20 and LS04 bins are there even though still getting same error.
Please let me know what could be the reasion and solution for this issue.

you get this error if the storage section check is made active in customizing transaction OMLZ
here you first define one or more storage section indicators (also named storage area indicator).
then you define a storage section search per combination of warehouse and storage type and storage section indicators and assign the possible storage section for this combination.
in the storage bins (LS01N) you enter the storage section to which this bin belongs.
in the material master you enter the storage section indicator
if a bin is determined which has a storage section that is not among the listed storage sections from the storage section search then the error you have is issued.

your target storage bin has a storage section 100 assigned.
your material master has a storage section indicator.
In OMLZ (storage section search) find the record for your warehouse and storage type having the storage section indicator from your material master, and check into what storage sections (below 1..., 2...., 3,,,) you can putaway the stock.

Storage section sap wm

We have 2 storage section for 1 storage type they are high frequency & low frequency. We are facing issues where most of the bin in high frequency is being taken by 1 material. for example 1 material has occupied 8 -10 pallets. We want to have only 1 or 2 pallets of that material in high frequency storage section so we can have space for other high frequency mateirals. We want to use control qty i.e. if order qty is more than 600 then pick from low frequency storage setion.
How Do I achieve this changes.

Hi Kiran,
you have to distinguish between putaway and picking.
Here in this example,. "A" may high, "C" may be low freq. used material.
For putaway:
If all "A" bins are empty and you store lots of same material with "A", all "A" bins are used until they are 100% occupied by WM.
To avoid this, you may use fixed bins for each material in a "A" bin region. As an alternative (if you cannot use fixed bins) you may code own putaway strategy where the quantity of a material is checked before a "A" section bin is used.
For picking:
If you want to pick large qty from "C" and small qty from "A" you may setup removal strategy "large/small qty" but then you need two storage types which also reverts settings for putaway.

Storage section not allowed

I was trying to create a TO with LT01 and mvt type 999.
Its giving an error - 'Putaway in storage section 'A' is not allowed.
It is not allowing to delete these storage sections. I have only 2 storage sections for this storage type.
1.Why this error is coming?
2.What controls this?
Please explain.

You can use LX02 or LX03. In the tool bar click the third button which will give you the dynamic inputs from LDB(click the storage bin drop down and click on storage section). You can provide the storage section there.

New Storage Section set up in WM

I had to set up some new bins in a new storage section, within an existing storage type in our warehouse. I thought I had configured everything, but when we attempt to transfer batches from the old bin that is being retired to the new one, we get an error message stating: Putaway in Storage Section XX is not allowed.
I did configure it in the storage section search, and am wondering what else I missed. I couldn't find any other strategy configuration that listed specific storage sections. What am I missing?

thanks, I really owe you, this was the second question of mine you've answered this week. My error was that I had linked the new section to the section that the inventory is currently in. I had to link it to the one indecated on Material Master, and it worked fine. You rock!!!
