Diff betw OAM and OAAM.

Hi All,
I am new to Oracle Identity Management. Could any one please help us to know what is difference between OAM (Oracle access manger) and OAAM(Oracle Adaptive Access Manager).
And also we have oracle application server 10g and apex installed in our server and we are using SSO authentication. SSO server is maintained by some other team and they are using Oracle access manger. Now we are planning to configure Oracle Adaptive Access Manager.
My question here is where we need to install and configure the Oracle Adaptive Access Manager software. In our server or else in SSO server.
Many Thanks

Difference b/w OAM and OAAM:
=====================
OAM is for protecting applications from unauthorized access and to implement SSO across OAM protected applications.
OAAM provides advanced secured login features and risk management capabilities.
Examples for advanced login features: Keypad, text pad , virtual keypad, slider. (If you visit either HDFC or Bank of America online banking, you can see how they are using advanced login mechanisms)
Example for risk management: Let's say you want to deny the access to your applications from a specific IP address. You can do that with OAAM.
OAM and OAAM need not be on the same machine. They can be either on the same machine or on different machines.
Thanks

  • Diff between OAM and OIM

    Hi Friends,
I am little bit confusing where we have to use Oracle Access Manager(OAM) and Oracle Identity Manager(OIM) specifically and what is the relation between them, how will they work together.
    Thanks inadvance...
    Best Regards

OAM controls the access to various target systems.
OIM manages identities and can be used to provision and manage an account within OAM.
There are many more differences, but i would suggest reading the overviews on oracles pages of the two different products.

  • I'm trying to decide whether to buy ipad or cheaper tablet.  What is retina display and what is diff betw ipad and mini with only wifi? What is mini missing?

I'm trying to decide on tablet to buy -- what is the difference between mini and ipad?  What is retinal display?  Why do some have wifi only and some have wifi cellular?  Why would I need cellular?
I keep hearing that apple computers don't pick up viruses like pc (of which I have had my fair share) so that is why I am considering -- but there are some really attractive deals for cheaper tablets.

A simple answer to a loaded question?  Not here!
    1.     For starters, I can't recommend the newest iPad AIr or iPad Mini.  The previous versions worked perfectly though if you want to go the Apple route.  That alone will save you a few bucks.  Best Buy undercuts Apple prices by a few $$ and has bonus sales around this time of year.
    2.   You get what you pay for.  I like the Samsung Galaxy Tabs a lot.  Good hardware and software.  App store has plenty to offer.  You also have size options like you do with Apple.   Since I have the Galaxy S3 phone, the Galaxy tabs are very familiar.  The Surface (smaller one) is big for a tablet, it works great, but is subject to the frailties that plague PCs to some degree.   I don't like the keyboard, but do like the kickstand.   I don't know about the availability of Apps for the Surface, I think it may be a major downside to the device.  The Surface is not cheaper than iPad either.  As for the cheaper Tablets, they will be in the landfill before Apple introduces a new gadget (that's pretty often....)   The Kindle is still primarily, an eReader.
    3.   Wifi or wifi and cellular - If you have a smart phone and can tether a tablet, you don't need cellular on the tablet.  With more places offering free hot spots, wifi is more than adequate. ( I use very little cellular on my mini)
    4.    iTunes and the App store;  I will start by saying I am cheap.  If the App isn't free, it has to be really valuable to me or I won't buy it.  I paid for Pages on my iPad 2 years ago and I bought a password wallet that syncs on all my devices on all platforms.  Aside from that I buy music to add to the CDs I imported to iTunes.  If you don't like iTunes and don't want to use it, keep looking at android tablets.
    5.    ios 7 - Never has Apple made such a big deal and been so poorly prepared to introduce a new ios.  It has devoted Apple heads steamed.  I count myself one and have had no problems with my devices, educated user I hope, or just really lucky.
    6.    I really USE my tablet.  I use it for work, for financial management and communications.  I rarely have to resort to the desktop as almost everything is possible on the iPad.  I love it's portability!  Documents and data flow back and forth with the cloud I never worry about losing anything or finding anything.  Photos download automatically from my Android smart phone with Dropbox App and are instantly available to load on all devices.
    7.    If you are a big PC hacker type, the switch to ios is culture shock.  The first time on the new iMac I was at my wits end trying to navigate.  I only had to stop working so hard and it all fell into place.
    My personal experience:
I have the iPad 2, (wifi only) and the first mini (with 4G LTE) and I had a 4th generation iPod touch and now have a 5th Gen iPod touch (which I really like a lot).  My son has an iPhone 4S and the iPad with retina display.  Both my sons have had iPods through the years.
My 50 year old eyes prefer the bigger screen of iPad 2 and typing is much easier.  But I love the portability of the smaller tablet, so one for home, one for the road.  Thanks to iCloud what ever is on one is also on the other, documents, data, contacts, etc.   Retina display, my son has it, I don't, I can't say I miss it.  It does make pictures look better, if you are a photo person, the retina display is worth it.
I also have transitioned from PC to Apple completely, I bought an iMac 4 years ago and it is as fast as it was on day one, no crashes, repairs, viruses.  I just bought a Mac Mini and I also use Apple Airport extreme for router and I have an Apple TV (the only disappointment, I prefer the Roku 2)
I'm sure that was more than you asked for.....

    Hi,
Tel me the Diff betw SY-LSIND and SY-LILLY.?

    Thanx in advance.

    Hi Pavitra
    <b>SY-LSIND</b>
Index of the list that is being created (basic list: 0, detail list > 0). Each time an interactive list event occurs, the system automatically increases SY-LSIND by 1. SY-LSIND can be changed in the ABAP program to navigate between detail lists. Changes to SY-LSIND are not taken into account until the end of the list event. Therefore, any manipulation of SY-LISND should be done using the last command of the processing block.
    <b>SY-LILLI</b>

  • Diff betw Load-of-program and Initialisation

    Hi,
can anyone give me in points the Diff betw Load-of-program and Initialisation events?
    Useful answers wil b rewarded.
    Thanx in advance!

    Hi,
The purpose of load of program is to load the program into system memory so that it can be execute the program and also this is the first event in the program. After executing this event only other events is executed. Other events are
    Initialization
    start-of-selection
    get
    end-of-selection
etc all other events are triggered.
    The purpose of Initialization:
1 . In initialization it is not only the parameters default value
    which are required/accessed/controlled
    in initialization event.
    2. In a program there are so many variables,
    the values of these variables
can be set in intiailization event.
    3. Such values sometimes cannot be hardcoded.
They may be requried to fetch from database
    or do some calculations,
(which is not possible while declaration
    data and parameters)
    4. Sometimes, some variant can also be imported
    for selection screen.
5.This event is invoked directly after LOAD-OF-PROGRAM and before the selection screen processing of any existing standard selection screen.
This gives you the one-time opportunity to initialize the input fields of the selection screen, including those defined in the logical database linked with the program.
When run in background, values initialized in initialization event are considered.
For eg: if you want to initialize like this:
    carrid-sign = 'I'.
    carrid-option = 'EQ'.
    carrid-low = 'AA'.
    carrid-high = 'LH'.
    APPEND carrid TO carrid.
You cannot achieve this by giving 'default' or 'value' at selection-screen.
Don't forget ot reward if useful.

    Varun.

  • Can anyone explain what "multi-tenant" means with respect to OAM and OIF?

    Hi,
I noticed that OAM 11gR2 has several additional authentication modules and schemes out-of-the-box for "MT" or multi-tenant. I've actually tried them, but am not clear exactly what their purpose is?
As a test, I configured the FederationMT module and FederationMTScheme to protect a test resource in OAM, and then when I access the resource, I first get a page with one field for username and a "Sign In" button. After I enter a user name, it goes to a form login page and I can log into the OIF IdP, and that's about it. I guess that I don't see what this accomplishes?
If anyone is familiar with this, please advise.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
Thanks for the metalink article. I've read that, and I can understand what the article is describing, but I'm not 100% clear how that relates to the configuration parameters in the FederationMTPlugin. The article talks about a mapping file, but I don't see something like that for configuring the TenantDismbiguationPlugin?
The first step in FederationMTScheme plugin is a TenantDisambiguationPlugin, which takes two parameters:
    KEY_IDENTITY_STORE_REF
    KEY_FEDERATED_TENANTS (a comma-separated list of "some things")
The steps/orchestration for the FederationMTPlugin has:
    Initial Step: FedUserAuthenticationPlugin
    TenantDisambiguationPlugin OnSuccess: FedAuthenticationPlugin OnFailure: UserIdentificationPlugin
    UserIdentificationPlugin OnSuccess: UserAuthenticationPlugin OnFailure: failure
    UserAuthenticationPlugin OnSuccess: success OnFailure: failure
    FedAuthnRequestPlugin OnSuccess: success OnFailure: FedUserAuthentication
    FedUserAuthenticationPlugin OnSuccess: success OnFailure: TenantAmbiguationPlugin
[The OnError results for all steps are failure, so I haven't shown them.]
So, the first step is the FedUserAuthenticationPlugin (AssertionProcessing), and if that fails, the next step is the TenantDisambiguationPlugin.
I guess all of my questions are around what that TenantAmbiguationPlugin does, and how it works?
I'm guessing that what you enter on the 1st webpage, which asks for a Tenant, is matched against the comma-separated list that is in the plugins "KEY_FEDERATED_TENANTS" parameter.
    Is that correct?
    But:
    a) What happens if there is a match of what you entered vs. what's in the "KEY_FEDERATED_TENANTS" list?
    b) What happens if there is NOT a match of what you entered vs. what's in the "KEY_FEDERATED_TENANTS" list?
That article you mentioned calls for a mapping file, that maps what is entered (the tenant) to a user identity store, but where is that in the TenantDisambiguationPlugin's parameters? The only other parameter for that plugin is the "KEY_IDENTITY_STORE_REF" parameter.
Having said that, I described the steps and step orchestration in the FederationMTPlugin above. If the TenantDisambiguationPlugin is suppose to somehow map what's entered to a user identity store name, then, with respect to the FederationMTPlugin, is that mapped user identity store used for the UI and UA steps (i.e., as the "KEY_IDENTITY_STORE_REF" for the UI and UA steps)?
Thanks for your help with this. Oracle's documentation certainly merits some improvement :(...

If SAP is implemented for any company in INDIA and the company is in EXCISABLE range then
in SAP ,CIN is implemented ( Country India Version) then
you have to implement the SAP by either of the one type of CIN
    1. TAX INN - Condition based CIN implementation
2.TAX INJ -Formula Based CIN implementation
    1. If you are using TAXINN then system will pick rate from condition record maintained using tcode FV11.
    2. If you are using TAXINJ then rates are to be entered while creating tax code in FTXP & J1ID.

  • Diff Btn EDI and ALE

    Hi Experts,
What is the diff btn EDI and ALE.
    Straight answers will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    SAI

    Hi,
    In simple words ...
ALE is technology for SAP mainly use to transfer data between SAP systems.
EDI is the independent technology use to transfer data between two systems, they can be SAP systems or non SAP systems.
ALE = Application Link Enable: Initially developed for SAP as an abstract layer to extract master and transactional data to be sent ellectronically to other SAP systems. These days is also being used to send data no non-SAP systems. ALE is not a protocol or anything like that, it's just abstract layer composed by a set of applications which are capable of extracting aplication data on a 1-time basis or periodically, by selection criteria or incrementally by deltas.
In contrast, EDI = Electronic data interface, this is a comunication protocol not designed by SAP but it´s an industry standard. Of course most SAP software supports EDI, but EDI it's no software but the specification of the protocol in itself.

    Padmam.

  • Types of  DTP , Diff between Standard and Error DTP

    Hi experts,
What is DTP ,  are the Types of  DTP , Diff between Standard and Error DTP , how it works in BI 7.0.
I will assign points for your valuable answers.

    Hello ,
Data transfer process (DTP) to transfer data within BI from one persistent object to another object, in accordance with certain transformations and filters. In this respect, it replaces the data mart interface and the InfoPackage. As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the InfoPackage only loads data to the entry layer of BI (PSA).
The data transfer process makes the transfer processes in the data warehousing layer more transparent. Optimized parallel processing improves the performance of the transfer process (the data transfer process determines the processing mode). You can use the data transfer process to separate delta processes for different targets and you can use filter options between the persistent objects on various levels. For example, you can use filters between a DataStore object and an InfoCube.
Data transfer processes are used for standard data transfer, for real-time data acquisition, and for accessing data directly.
1.Benefit: Data ‘Distribution’within BI Capabilities (from PSA or InfoProviders to InfoProviders)
2.Improved transparency of staging processes across data warehouselayers (PSA, DWH layer, ODS layer, Architected Data Marts)
    3.Improved performance and high scalability
4.Separation of delta mechanism for different data targets: delta capability is controlledby the DTP
    5.Enhanced filtering in dataflow
6.Repair modus based on temporary buffers (buffers keep complete set of data)

  • Diff betwen Simple and Advanced function

    Hi,
What is the the diff betwen Simple and Advanced user defined function  in message mapping ?
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi,
Simple function : Simple functions without paramters work like constants and produce the target element exactly once for each context.
if I use simple Functions (Which should be called every time and context, the target field should be build - in a single context) and advanced function(which should identify, depending on the result of the actual simple function call values from queued source fields) in a single element
Advance function : Advanced functions with paramters seem to produce the target element for each context
If you use advanced Functions, its little more complicate, then you have allready to provide a queue, which tells the advanced function - how many times to run and how how many result entries to create, 'cause these must match with the number of occurency of your target element (in simple words: you control the number of runs, that your single field mapping is processed).

  • Diff. bet ABAP  and SAP Query

    HI
Anybody can explain in detail about ABAP  and SAP Query.....
And tell me what is the main diff. bet ABAP  and SAP Query...
    Regards
    S.Baskaran

    SAP Query
    Purpose
The SAP Query application is used to create lists not already contained in the SAP standard system. It has been designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language ABAP. SAP Query offers users a broad range of ways to define reporting programs and create different types of reports such as basic lists, statistics, and ranked lists.
    Features
SAP Query's range of functions corresponds to the classical reporting functions available in the system. Requirements in this area such as list, statistic, or ranked list creation can be met using queries.
All the data required by users for their lists can be selected from any SAP table created by the customer.
To define a report, you first have to enter individual texts, such as titles, and select the fields and options which determine the report layout. Then you can edit list display in WYSIWYG mode whenever you want using drag and drop and the other toolbox functions available.
ABAP Query, as far as I Believe, is the use of select statements in the ABAP Programming. This needs a knowledge of Open SQL commands like Select,UPdtae, Modify etc. This has to be done only by someone who has a little bit of ABAP experience.
To sum up, SAP queries are readymade programs given by SAP, which the user can use making slight modification like the slection texts, the tables from which the data is to be retrieved and the format in which the data is to be displayed.ABAP queries become imperative when there is no such SAP query existing and also when there is a lot of customizing involved to use a SAP Query directly.
