Diffence between XI 3.0 and PI7.0

Hi
I am having one dought. what are defferences between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0 at Mapping and in IR and ID.

Hi,
1.All new features for XI 7.0 are almost same as for XI 3.0 at least till SPS 19.
Some differences are as follows:
• Adapter Enhancements like JMS, JDBC, Oracle-JDBC and CIDX Enhancements
• New Conversion Agent,
• Receiver Determination Enhancements
• Multi mapping
• User defined enhancements
• Unbounded Processes (Integration Processes).
2. One more difference is the ABAP stack (which is 7.0 and not 6.40) but from the developer point of view there is nothing new.
3. PI 7.0 = XI 7.0
4. For each SP in XI3.0 there is a corresponding SP being released for PI (XI 7.0). A comparison of the service packs in 2004 and 2004s:
In 2004 - In 2004s
SP12 & lower = SP04
SP13 + 14 = SP05
SP15 = SP06
SP16 = SP07
SP17 = SP08
SP18 = SP09
5. XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004
PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's
There is not much difference between XI 3.0 with latest Service Pack i.e. 20 or 21 and PI 7.0
The main difference between 3.0 and 7.0 is the GUI in SLD. But, it is pretty easy to adopt. All other components, e.g. IR, ID, RWB, should virtually be identical.
7.0 also contain some SCM contents not available from 3.0. For most of us, this is a non-issue.
In 7.0 we can schedule a background job and edit the payload.
XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004
PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's
Currently SP 21 for XI 3.0 and SP12 for PI 7.0 is the latest one.

High Availability (New)   Locate the document in its SAP Library structure
    Use
A new concept is available for setting up a high availability environment for SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (PI). To do this, you need SAP Web Dispatcher for load balancing, and you must reconfigure your HTTP, RFC, and RMI connections so that they can be used for load balancing. You must also make various configuration steps in other components of your PI environment.
[Level 4: Document: XML to Text Conversion Module (New)] XML to Text Conversion Module (New)
    Message Packaging (New)
Monitoring Milestones (New)   Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

    Hi
Any one give me Differences between PI7.0 and PI7.1.
What are the major features Included in PI7.1
    Thanks

    Hey,
In specific there are lotz of new features adn goodies to be bundled with PI 7.1 scheduled for september release.
Levarage will be on SOA, performance enhancements, and addressing current problem that many of us face thatz high-volume message processing. is supported by message packaging.
Untill now we are only dealing with Integration Repository. PI 7.1 introduces Two components  the concept of Enterprise Services Registry, Enterprise services Repository.
ES- Repository is based on Integration Repository but remember concept of messgae interfaces will be replaced by Service Interfaces.
SAP NW PI 7.1 the Enterprise Services Repository will offer multiple operations per service.
Significant enhancements in CCBPM like Driving WS-BPEL 2.0 standard,User Decisions,Extended conditions and expressions,BPEL4WS 1.1 standard adoption.
Additional Functions provided for mapping most imp one Synchronous DB/RFC look-ups.
    Additional support for standards.
Even quite a few changes in Integration Directory:
XML PAYLOAD VALIDATION in Sender Agreement Validate incoming/outgoing .messages against XML schema.
As other have suggested https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/706005a3-3bd6-2910-91ae-a2016239bdcf wil give you a good insight to PI 7.1.

  • Diffence between physical layer and BMM layer

    Hi all,
Please let me know the difference between Physical layer design and BMM layer design. Please write your views in your reply instead of links.
    regards
    chandra kanth.

    chandra kanth.,
    Use in the layers
The physical layer is the layer of the Logical Business Model where you define the physical data model of your data source. It contains information about the physical data sources.
The most common way to create the schema in the Physical layer is by importing metadata (table, view, …) from databases and other data sources. If you import metadata, many of the properties are configured automatically based on the information gathered during the import process. You can also define other attributes of the physical data source, such as join relationships, that might not exist in the data source metadata.
    In the Business Model
In the business model, OBI recommends using complex logical joins instead of foreign key logical joins.
When Complex joins are used in the business layer then they are really acting as placeholders. They allow the OBI Server to decide on which are the best joins define in the Physical Layer to satisfy the request.
In a Dimension, you may have multiple Logical Table sources that all join to one fact table. The OBI Server will then decide the best joins to use to meet the requirements.

  • Difference between XI 3.0 and XI 7.0

What is the Difference between XI 3.0 and XI 7.0?
    ( functionality & architecture wise)

    Hi,
There is no new features added in PI7.0, if u have working on XI 3.0, PI7.0 Older versions the features same..
But PI7.1 there is new changes u can find below.....
Integarte SAP & Non-SAP Legacy system
PI 7.1 is based on open, web service enabled standards and
Integrate all SAP and non-SAP, A2A, B2B, BPM, service enabling and BAM
    Highlight of enhancement in PI7.1
    1) Enterprise Service repository (ESR) contains the design Registry
    2) Includes significant high-volume message processing is supported by message processed in a single
    Service call
    3) Also importantly support for asynchronous messaging based Reliable Messaging (WS-RM) for both
Brokered communication between two systems will be supported in this release.
    4) Provide Service Registry benefits based on UDDI 3.0
    Enterprise Service Repository
In PI7.1 ES Repository is at the heart of Enterprise SOA
ES Repository is really the master data repository of service objects for Enterprise SOA
It contains the definition & process of services
In ES Repository has two parts, one is the ES Repository and the other being the Services Registry
ES Repository (ESR) is really the master data repository of service objects for Enterprise SOA
Besides service definition the ES Repository also provides you with a central point for finding and
Managing service metadata from different sources, including application deployments - this is
Where the Services Registry comes in. The Services Registry is the UDDI part of the ESR which
Enables service consumers to find services
The SAP XI Integration Repository used by process integration has become the basis of the central Enterprise Service Repository: powering Enterprise SOA and Service Enablement.
Objects in the ES Repository include:
    Global Data Types (CCTS based)
    Process Component Models
    Executable Integration Processes (BPEL)
    Integration Scenarios
    Service Interfaces (Enterprise Services)
    Interface Mappings
Enterprise Services built in the ES Repository
    Enterprise Services includes:
Are built using a consistent enterprise model based on: GDTs, Process Components, and Business Objects.
    Are based on open standards.
Are mapped to the Service Interface object in the ES Repository.
Global Data Types - Building blocks for Service Interfaces
    Defined in the ES Repository
Defined company-wide based on open standards (ISO 15000-5, UN/CEFACT CCTS)
Reusable semantic building blocks for service interfaces and message types
    Process Component Models
Drill down from high-level models to service interfaces and operations
Process component architecture models enable SOA governance
Process components expose on enterprise services, which are based on service operations
    Web Services Reliable Messaging (WS-RM)
Asynchronous messaging (EO, EOIO) based on open WS standard
    Support Business Activity Monitoring (BAM)
Embedded Event Infrastructure: Collecting, pre-filtering and publication of events across SAP and non-SAP systems.
Event handling: cast the local event to an event proxy to send out event messages to event Consumers.
Transaction SWF_BAM for event filtering via filter rules and event handling.
    Enhancement for Mapping
    Re-usable user defined functions.
    Look-up function reads multiple fields.
Synchronous DB RFC lookups: Use graphical function to model look-ups.
Specify mapping parameters at configuration time.
    Principle Propagation based on SAML
This feature uses the WS-RM protocol.
The implementation of this feature is based on the open standard SAML and can
be used with backend systems that support the SAML technology.
Forward user context from sender to receiver.
Authorization check in receiving system based on original user.
    Support BAM Milestone Modeling (BPEL)
    Sub-Process Calls: Integration Process Call,
User Interaction: User Decisions (initially not part of this project, but will be covered as well to draw the complete picture),
    Alert Categories
    Enhancements for Process Automation
    Human interaction:
    Integration paradigm (design/ configuration).
    Generic user decision.
Language dependent texts for end-user display, enriched with variables.
WS-BPEL 2.0 adoption: Preview and implementation BPEL4People, BPEL-SPE Simple user defined functions can be configured directly in the process.

when it will be available you will get an upgreade guide as always
Currently PI 7.0 is only available for real time implementation. You could have the version of PI 7.1 from SDN, but that not for the real time implementation. Its limited only for individual usage.
There is huge difference between PI 7.0 and PI 7.1.
    1. PI 7.0 is the part of Netweaver 2004s and PI 7.1 is key entity in eSOA.
    2. PI 7.1 have various mapping Enhancements as well as reusability of UDFs across the mappings etc. which is not available in PI 7.0

    3. PI 7.1 comes with the concept of folders for more flexibale and Organized way of developements.

  • Possible to segment traffic between 2 interfaces? And other questions...

I would like to set my G5 up as a server utilizing a second connection and to keep traffic seperated between this server connection and my regular internet connection (would be wireless). I'm pretty sure this alone is fairly straightforward and can be accomplished by setting up the new interface and moving it down to the bottom of the connection list with wireless at the top. That should keep all non-specific traffic from flowing out the ethernet/server connection - I think.
If the above works the way I stated then I would also want to firewall ONLY the ethernet/server connection (the wireless has it's own hardware firewall). AND - this is the tricky part - I also want to add a fake interface that has a fake IP and bind that to the "real" ethernet/server connection. The reason for that is because I need a static IP to bind the service to. I know if the connection list thing works to flow the traffic that if I had an external router on the server connection, this wouldn't be needed. I'd already have a fake IP to bind to and I wouldn't have to run the firewall on the Mac. But I don't and I'd rather not have to buy one.
So can this be done through the network/sharing preferance panes? If so, are there any "gotchas" I should be aware of? If not, is there any software tool out there that would make setting this up easier/faster? I'm not opposed to doing it all via command line, but I'm a bit rusty with my linux/unix admin knowledge. Plus I'm not 100% certain how to set all that up command line wise without screwing up OS X!
    Thanks.

I'm not sure I fully understand what you are attempting to accomplish. Lets see if I have the general idea.
You have a single G5, that you want to use as both your desktop machine and also to provided specific services, such as web, email, etc.
You have some type of hardware firewall/security appliance.
You have some type of wireless access point.
You don't seem to have any type of router or switch in your configuration.
You want all of your server based traffic to be sent and received on it's own Ethernet port. You want your personal Internet traffic to be sent and received on your wireless connection.
    So my questions are:
Where is the server traffic going to, coming from? Who is accessing the server, is it users on the Internet, or just computers on your own LAN (which you didn't mention).
If your server is to allow data from or send to the Internet, then you need to have a way to route the traffic there. Do you have more then one method to access the Internet, or will all traffic, both personal and server being going though the same Internet access pipe?
If it is all going through the same pipe, and you only have the single computer, I don't understand why you wish to segment the traffic.
If on the other hand you have multiple computers on your LAN. then segmenting traffic may make sense. This would allow access to your server and keep your LAN well secure.
Anyway, to get to specifics, you'll need to use the terminal app to bind specific services to specific IP's and ports on your Mac. You will also need to manually configure the firewall to be able to select specific connection ports and bindings. However, while I think it can be done, I'm not sure it makes a great deal of sense.
I would be more inclined to suggest a router or switch that can provide VLAN support, or a router that provides true DMZ support, would be a good way to go.
Anyway, a little more info would be helpful.
Oh and if I have this totally worng in what I think your doing.. My mistake.
