Differance between Oracle 9i RAC and 10g RAC

Hello,
I am almost new to RAC. I have worked on Oracle 9i RAC since longtime back. Now I am trying to find what is difference between Oracle 9i and 10g RAC structure ? Before it was CM and now it's clusterware. But what it makes different ? Any good explanation or web link.
thanks

The main difference is 10g RAC is almost completely platform independent, and 9i RAC isn't.
This means it has changed tremendously.
As 9i is desupported I wouldn't spend any time in 9i RAC if you have yet to learn it.

Dear What is the different between Oracle Process Manufacturing and Oracle Descret Manufacturing in Oracle?

    Hi Elad,
Depending on the requirement and the availability we go with implementing a particular database.
For xi point of view there is no difference between oracle and SQL database. However you need to intall the drivers of SQL.
Even there is no difference in the communication channel configuration.
    Reward points if found helpful.

Hello Guys . I need some help about the NB550D. What is the different between the NB550D-109 and the NB550D-10G?? Is just the colour?

I've checked local and internet shops - strange thing - now, a month after they've started to sell NB550D, in my country (Poland) you can buy only 10J model (with C30) - only green! But the price changed from 1299 to 1199 :)
And 10G model (blue with C50) disappeared - sold out!!!???

    Hi,
As of today you should install SOA Suite 11g
Fr this you will need to install Database (for development you can use XE)
Run RCU utility to crete DB schemas for SOA Suite.
    Install Weblogic server
Install SOA Suite as an option to Weblogic
    Create SOA Domain.
It is physically possible to do it in 2GB but is far better on 3 - 4GB
You can consider installing DB on different machine.

  • Download between Oracle 9i Database and Oracle 9i DS

I have download the files for Windows 2000.
    Oracle 9i Database version 9.0.2.1
    Oracle 9i DS version 9.0.2
    Download Date: June 7, 2002
These from what I can tell are the lates versions on the website. I installed the database and everything went in fine. I can work with the database and everything. When I use the Universal Installer for Oracle 9i DS, I get an error when it hits 31% that states that this version of DS will not work with a database that is of version 9.0.2.1 or greater.
If anyone can help me it would be a great help,
    Greg

    Hi,
Your question is the answer. Oracle9i Database manages all your eBusiness data and Oracle9iAS runs all your eBusiness
applications. In a 3 tier architecture, Oracle9i Database fits in the Database tier where as Oracle9iAS fits in the middle
tier. Oracle9iAS provides an infrastructure to run different types of applications(J2EE thru OC4J, Forms applns, Portal
    based applns, Wireless applns etc..)
    Cheers !

  • Difference between oracle join syntaxes and ANSI join syntaxes

What is difference between oracle join syntaxes and ANSI join syntaxes ?
why oracle is having different syntaxes for joins than ANSI syntaxes ?
Also Join syntaxes are different in some oracle vesrions ?

Yes it is. The Oracle database wasn't initially designed to be ANSI compliant. As you correctly state the ANSI standards weren't around when it was initially designed, so the statement is perfectly correct. ;)Ok, in one sense it may be correct but it is a completely misleading statement. Not sure why you think it's misleading.Because there was no ANSI standard, so making it sound like a design choice The Oracle database wasn't initially designed to be ANSI compliant. would suggest to most readers that there was a standard to be compliant to.
Like saying Ford originally did not design their cars to incorporate safety features such as ABS, seat belts and air bags.
The OP asked "why oracle is having different syntaxes for joins than ANSI syntaxes ?" and the answer is that Oracle wasn't initially designed with ANSI compliance, so it has it's old non-ANSI syntax,As shown above, the old syntax was ANSI compliant at the time and to call it non-ANSI is either incorrect or misleading dependent on your point of view.
and since ANSI syntax became the standard it now supports that. And since ANSI switched to a new standard, Oracle had to implement the new standard as well as the previous ANSI standard would be more accurate in my opinion.
Nothing misleading as far as I'm aware in that.I find the whole discussion about ANSI and Oracle's supposed non-compliance, reads like it was Oracle's choice to deviate from the standards, when it was ANSI's bullheaded decisions to pointlessly change standards that left Oracle and other vendors out of compliance, and that was a decision made solely by ANSI.
This is probably the reason ANSI no longer produces SQL standards, the endless syntax fiddling would eventually have made forward left under outer joins a reality.
