Difference 15" pro's (mid2012 vs early2013)

Hi,
because I going to buy a (pro 15") I need to dcide which model first, also in case of the price ...
What is the difference between the terms mid2012 and early2013?
How can I find out the difference between model numbers?
e.g. (Z0PY-017) (Early 2013)
or (Z0MKMC975S2000031023) (Mid 2012)
or (Z0MLMC976S2000023884) (Mid 2012)
or (Z0PYME664S2000050510) (Early 2013)
Is CPU speed a "buy-this or buy-that model" decision?
(in detail: is there really a big difference between 2.4GHz models vs. 2.8GHz???)

I'd love to hear from experienced users in both programs.
most of them will just laugh hysterically at you, until it's time for their injection.
to be serious, there are bugs in logic but for the most part they don't stop us enjoying what is an incredibly flexible powerful and stable (yeeees - stable) program.
what has been happening is that a lot of pros that visit this forum have become increasingly concerned that some of the bugs that need to be addressed are not being, and thus there is a lot of campaigning going on. go back a couple of weeks, before 7.2 came out and you'll see what i mean. because the pros aren't sure if there concerns are being listened to (whether they are or not) they have become anxious about the future of the program that earns them a living.
the logic development team have just devoted all their energies into crossgrading logic for macintel, and i have been given to understand there are quite a few bug fixes, though apparantly not the biggies that irrate some. it is to be hoped that now that is done, efforts will be directed to sorting them out and putting reliability before useless features most of us don't really need.
all that said, most people who come to logic from another DAW don't look back. eventually you might stumble across a bug, and because you weren't aware of it gobbles up 3 hours of productive work because you had been lulled into a false sense of security. but in the mean time you will be blown away by the awesome potential and creative power logic affords you.

  • Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

The NEW macbook Pro and Air are EXTREMELY close in form factor
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
    both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics.
....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"
Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc.   Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros
The NEW macbook Pro is a different creature entirely than the older macbook Pro, .....the new Pro is thicker than the Air, but id frankly call the NEWEST Pro a "macbook Air with Retina display" , or
Maybe a “macbook Air PRO with Retina display”
Instead of Air VS Pro now,.....its really a smooth transition from Air to pro without comparing say, 2 different creatures, now its like contrasting a horse from a race horse.
Either one in 8gig of RAM (preferably)... the 4gig upgrade costs very little,  the I7 you will notice only 15% faster on heavy applications over the I5, and NOTHING on most APPS.....I5 has longer battery life.
As you see below, the non-Retina 13" AIR is 82% of the Macbook with Retina display in resolution
there is no magical number of pixels per inch that automatically equates to Retina quality.

A huge internal SSD isnt a game changer for anything, you need an external HD anyway
what you WONT READ on Apple.com etc. is that the larger SSD  are MUCH FASTER due to SSD density

  • Oh what a difference a pro server makes!

    Hi,
Yes, I'm done with iDisk as far as iWeb is concerned. And I won't renew my dot mac subscription come next Summer. This is a joke. Unless there's a MAJOR overhaul of this server.
iWeb is awesome for a version 1 and I will use it for a long while if it passes the test of the first year... It's truly great. So, no problem there. The real issue is iDisk slowness and I have found my solution.
I am now publishing via a true professional web server (pair Networks) where I have had a account for several years. Rock solid. No bells and whistles. This is also where I have configured my domain name, which is simple enough ( it's my name) and people can remember it easily. It's not a iDik address...
Okay, but the angst I had was the uploading (FTP) of my iWeb website daily updates without having to upload the whole 25 meg+ each time.
Well, the solution is simple and quite efficient. I use the excellent FTP software called Transmit by Panic Software, (http://www.panic.com) which uploads only the changed files. Mirror synchro is my method.
Oh sure, you still have to publish to your local folder (and that't the longest part of the process, geez!).
Having publish to my local folder, the beauty of the Transmit solution is that it takes just a few seconds...
Now, the real beauty is that my personal iWeb website loads in Safari in a snap! Of course it does: it's on a professional webserver.
Clear the Safari cache and click on this URL (I have nothing to promote or sell):
    http://www.normandlepine.com
Now, clear the cache again and go see the same website on iDisk here:
    http://web.mac.com/normandlepine/iWeb/Site/TempusFugit.html
The difference should be obvious without using a watch. The graphic rendering is astonishing on the pro server and lame on the iDisk. And one more thing: it's much faster with Firefox or Shiira!
I am a "half" happy camper this morning but still wish to share my work-around solution with all the frustrated iDisk users out there. "Half" happy because I thought Apple always did "insanely great" things (I believe that's what Steve Jobs used to say in the '80s). They blew it big time with iDisk and I am extremely disappointed.
    DigitalAudio, G5 Dual 1.8, PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Tom,
I timed it now. Using Safari, it's 4 secs for iDisk and 2 for the Pair server. I timed the full redraw of my "homepage". That's a full 100% increase. It means a lot when you get to my photo albums.
One more thing: iDisk is always faster in the morning (when the West coast is still sleeping). It gets to a crawl around 1 PM. But the speed I get from my Pair server is practically constant all day.
I am using an Extreme High Speed cable subscription here. Costs about $60 US a month.
The computer I'm using for my web work is a Digital Audio (+ Sonnet 1 gHz upgrade cpu).
From my vantage point, I see a huge difference in loading time. "My" experience. Your mileage may vary as they say.

  • Difference between Pro and Express

What are some of the big differences between the Pro and Express versions of the Logic programs? I'm trying to decide what I might be missing out on if I go with the Express.

  • Differences between Pro, Express and Studio

Basically I'm looking for a version of Logic that has simple instrument plug-ins like trumpet and trombone (not trpt section, etc.).
I usually just to Rewire with Reason if Express doesn't have what I'm looking for.
But I'm considering just getting Pro- does that have a lot more instruments?
    Thanks

"Is there someone who has worked and has a good knowledge of adobe and can compare it with FCS?"
You don't seem to have an answer from anyone on this. All I can offer is that I used Premiere Elements extensively for years (up until a year ago) and with each new version I found it increasingly unstable. I stopped at 7.0 and apparently 8.0 is causing lots of frustration. Having heard so much about FCE I ditched PC based editing (prior to Elements I'd used Pinnacle Studio for a few years) and now I'm using an iMac and FCE.
In my experience this combination is incomparably more stable and powerful. There are so many examples of this but two that spring to mind are the selective cut and paste ("Paste Attributes") which is so crude and simple in Elements that it requires detailed planning in case you need to backout and the second is that, incredibly, in Elements you can't cut and paste a clip between projects/sequences. In fact Elements doesn't even have the Sequence concept: every timeline is a separate project and to copy a few edited clips from one project to another you have to export an AVI of them!
On the other hand, for slow motion I liked being able to simply stretch a clip between, say, two others instead of having to guess/calculate as one does with FCE. But that's relatively minor and as each day goes past I'm increasingly happy with my decision to go with FCE.

  • Difference between Pro-forma & billing doc.

    Dear all,
I wanna know the differnce between pro-forma & billing Doc. ,as i heard that pro-forma do not update the accounts.
So what iz the actual scenario, waiting for reply,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Olet Malla..

    Dear Olet,
As you already told, proforma invoice will not create the accounting entries.
Requirement for Proforma invoice may differs.
One requirement is to intimate the customer to settle an advance payment. While making the payment, customer wants to see the sample bill for which he is going to make payment. So he demands proforma invoice.
Another requirement is to have a document while freight forwarders carry the materials. An invoice or Proforma invoice should be accompanied. This is the legal requirement.
Another requirement to have proforma while Stock Transport Order.
    Regards,

  • Difference Between Pro and Express 8

So I've been using my brother's Logic Pro but he's decided to start recording again so it's a hassle as when he wants to record I can't, so obviously I will have to buy some software ASAP.
But I've been using Pro and it costs £280 or so for the studio package. Is express the same without the jam packs and such? Basically I use the drums/percussion and bass guitars (until I can buy one) but no other instruments; I also use the plug in effects. Does it have all of this in express 8 as it would save me a shed load of money if I bought that.

You can find your answer in the old dirty way: comparing tech specs......

and don't forget that Logic Pro is part of Logic Studio.......

  • I wanna buy an SSD for mid2012 macbook pro 13' i7! Help with sizes eh?

So I really wanna get an SSD for my macbook pro 13' mid2012 (not retina), and I know where I can get help to install it, but I dont know what dimensions of  the ssd has to be. I never use my dvd drive, and I saw somewhere you can replace it with and SSD or other hard drive. Now first question: Is the SATA cable to the dvd drive only 3.0Gbit/s or is it 6.0Gbit/s so an ssd could run on full speed?
And then dimensions, the ssd I have been looking at is the '
    'SSD 180GB Intel 520 OEM'
(link to my local computer shop: http://www.inet.se/produkt/4304354/ssd-180gb-intel-520-oem (swedish))
Now is it the right size or do I have to get some sort of converter or holder, or will it even fit at all?
If you know any good SSD's that are good, not toooo expensive and fits into my macbook pro, I would love to see them

Visit OWC for alternatives. You want one that supports 6.0 Gb/s SATA III. It should be a 2.5" notebook sized drive. At OWC look at their Mercury 6G models.

  • HT2523 What is the difference between Pages and Text Edit? Pros and Cons?

TextEdit is a simple basic text editor. Far from what MS Word can do. This is Pages:

  • What's the difference between Logic Studio 8 & 9?

is it me or is the ONLY difference between Logic Studio 8 & 9 the fact the LS9 can run in 64-bit mode?
I've owned Logic Studio 8 since about a year after it came out. About a year ago I got a Pro that's got Snow Leopard on it, so I installed LS8 on it. My Pro is running in 64-bit mode, but LS8 only runs in 32-bit mode, so I thought I'd "Upgrade" & buy Logic Studio 9 a couple of days ago. I just installed it yesterday & ran it for the first time today. I don't see ANY differce at all between 8 & 9 EXCEPT that Logic Pro & Main Stage both have a 64-bit mode. ALL of the synths & their presets are the same. All of the loops & jam packs look the same. Did I just pay all that $$$ just to get a 64-bit version of what I already had?
I've tried looking on this site & everything I find is about Logic Pro X. Is there anyone out there that knows enough about this to tell me for sure what the real differences are between Logic Studio 8 & 9?

Check Wikipedia - of course there are more differences:
    Logic Pro 9
On July 23, 2009, Logic Pro 9 was announced. A major new feature included "Flex Time", Apple's take on "elastic" audio, which allows audio to be quantized.[5] A version of the pedalboard from GarageBand was included, together with a new virtual guitar amplifier where the modeled components could be combined in different ways. There were also a number of improvements to audio editing, fulfilled user requests such as "bounce in place" and selective track and channel strip import, as well as an expanded content library including one more Jam Pack. Some of the bundled software, including MainStage 2 and Soundtrack Pro 3, was also improved. Logic Pro 9 is Universal Binary, although not officially supported for use on PowerPC computers.[6] SoundDiver, which had been quietly bundled with previous versions, was dropped, eliminating support for arguably the world's most popular synthesizer editor/librarian. As Apple has bundled so many software instruments with Logic, it is not likely that we'll see the return of integration with external synthesizer hardware to the Logic platform.[citation needed]
On January 12, 2010, Apple released Logic Pro 9.1, an Intel only release, thereby officially discontinuing Logic for the PowerPC platform. Logic Pro 9.1 has the option of running in 64 bit mode, which allows the application to address more memory than in the past. Says Apple "With 64-bit mode, the application memory is not limited to 4GB as with 32-bit applications, so there is essentially no practical limit by today's standards.". Third party plug-ins that are 32 bit are still compatible, but will run from a 'wrapper' inside Logic Pro itself.
On December 9, 2011, Apple announced that Logic Pro Studio 9 would no longer be available on DVD, and would only be sold via the Mac App Store. The price was reduced from $499 to $199.99 for the Logic Pro app, and $29.99 for MainStage. The download was just over 400mb, and 19gb of optional loops were available as in-app downloads.[7]
