Difference AirPort express version 2005 and the latest AirPort station
I have AirPort express version 2005, what are the difference with the the latest AirPort station? What will be the advantage for me to upgrade to new one.
I have a G5(no AirPort card)+PowerBookG4 (with AirPort)+iPhone 3Gs
Away from my home, can I use FileSharing option to access my G4 or G5 via iPhone?

The 802.11n version of the AirPort Express will provide the following that the older Express cannot:
Ability to "create" a faster 802.11n wireless network
Ability to "join" an existing wireless network and provide an ethernet signal
Ability to "extend a wireless network" if the network has been created by another "n" Apple router.
Ability to support multiple printers when used with a powered hub
These "features" may or may not benefit you. How were you planning to use the "new" AirPort Express in your network?

I downloaded and installed Airport Express Utility 5.6 to get my old Airport Express to work with the latest Mac OSX 10.7.4, but when I install and run it, it still says my Airport Express is out-of-date and needs the 5.6 utility. What's up?
It is likely that you downloaded AirPort Utility 5.6.1. If you checked the requirements, this only runs on Leopard or Snow Leopard Macs.
You have Lion, so you need AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion -
I have been trying to setup Airpot Expresses (both old and new models) for a while now with the Airpot Utility 5.6.1 for Windows without any luck. I have tried this on multiple windows machines, factory reseted the devices if I needed to, but I have not had any success since this software arrived. I see the routers on the Airport Utility UI, I click on it then try to connect to set it up. At this point, it gets stuck with a long progress bar trying to connect to the device without any success. I also have a Macbook Pro, and this device & software has had no trouble setting up the routers. The problem is, we are shipping these small routers out to customers who use Windows machines and it is vital that the user can modify the settings using Airpot Utility. I am at a loss for what to do and if we can't find any solutions, we are going to move on to a different company for the routers we ship out.
Thanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.

2Wire and the Latest Airport Extreme Cards
After searching the MacBook and Airport forums, I know a lot of folks out there are experiencing this. I purchased 3 MacBooks, two new White 2.0 GHz C2D and one refurbished 1.83 GHz. I can't get the new ones to log onto the 2Wire network. The refurb has no problems. A 17" PowerBook has no problems.
The software for the refurb and one of the 2 GHz MacBooks are all up to date. Those two were set up in another location and were logged into another home network. I'm getting suspicious about the firmware loaded into the MacBook's AP cards.
The 2.0 GHz MacBook Airport Extreme firmware version is 1.0.27p3. I don't know what the 1.83 GHz firmware version is because that one is far away with its recepient (I'll have to call him and find out). My PowerBook and G5 Airport Extreme cards both use the same version: 405.1 (3.90.34.0.p18).
Does anyone out there know if there are any differences between the Airport firmware loaded in an older MacBook (MA254LL/A or FA254LL/A) and the current ones (MA700LL/A)? If there is, it looks like the the current models are incompatible with 2WIRE wireless networks. Apple, what did you folks tweak between the original MacBooks and the current (late 2006) ones and can we please get an Airport firmware update that either regresses back to that or fixes this issue?Opus_Maru, Welcome to the discussion area!
There is no way for the user to directly affect the version of firmware being used by the AirPort Extreme card or the built in 802.11g wireless capability. The firmware is updated silently and without any notice when an AirPort Software update is applied to the Mac. -
What is the difference between 3.6.25 and the latest ones like 9.0.1
I'm not sure I understand the difference between the 3.6 versions and the much newer 9.0.1 version. I have much more trouble with this newer version--in fact had to uninstall it because it kept crashing. I understand that there are more bells and whistles, but what's the advantage of the newer ones over this old reliable version?
OK, that gives me all the propaganda, but why does it crash all the time? I went back to 8.0.1 and have no problems at all. That is a rhetorical question because I don't think they know yet. I love the internet, but these upgrades seem to come out before they really have all the bugs cleaned out.

I have an Airport Express connected to my stereo and it was working without any problem.
Recently I bought an Airport Extreme to use it as my Base Unit connecting it to my DSL.
I followed the instructions of the Airport Utility, and it started working.
Suddenly, problems started happen the Airport express that was connected to the stereo , stopped working and it disappeared from the Airport Utility area , as it did not exist in the network. I tried to reset it but it did not appear in the Airport Utility page.
Apparently I have other problems with the private network that it created because I cannot use it because of problems with the password that was created. I can only use the network that I created for my guest...
I dont know if my problem is a configuration problem or there is problem with the equipment.
I read that other users where having the same problem with the Airport express , using non apple equipment as their base unit , but I thought that using the Airport Extreme was going to be compatible and no problems would happen.

Connect your Express via ethernet cable to the Mac while other network connections on the Mac are switched OFF.
After the Express shows up, change the settings of the Express to join the existing network. Take the appr. settings.
Unplug and reconnect your Mac to the network.
Check if the Express shows up in Airport Utility
Alternative solution:
Hardreset the Express to factory settings
(while on power push the Pin next to the audio plug with a paperclip. Plug out the Express still holding down the little button then replug the Express to power and release button)
After that, the Express will show up in the Airport Utility.
Make all needed settings.
I would prefer the first solution, its easier just to plug a cat5 cable. -
Just purchased a new Airport Express 802.11N instal with new hi speed Xfinity moden in same location. Cant get a green light on the 2 remote client airports located in other spaces in home. Help?
What is the exact model of the Xfinity modem that you have? Is the new AirPort Express connected directly to this modem by Ethernet?
By "remote client airports" do you mean additional AirPort base stations or Apple computers? -

Apple just updated the Airport Extreme Base Station with a new model (1408) with increased signal strength and improved antenna design. Does anyone know if they also updated the Airport Express? What is the latest version of the Airport Express?

I just purchased a wireless N network adapter for the TIVO premier and am trying to use my apple airport express to connectand it is in the another room. I am only receiving one bar of strength on my network adapter. How can I raise the signal strength of my airport express.
There are several things that might help, not all of which would be feasible depending on your situation: (1) Move the TiVo unit and AirPort Express closer together. (2) Use another AirPort Express to "extend" the network of the first AirPort Express. Put the second AirPort Express half way between the first AirPort Express and the TiVo unit. (3) In the general case, Power-Line equipment might allow the TiVo unit to get a good signal, but it's likely that the Ethernet port of your AirPort Express is probably connected to your broadband modem, so that solution wouldn't work for you. (4) Changing the band or channel that the AirPort Express is using might help. If the TiVo unit is connection on the 5 GHz band, try one of the three-digit channels, which are allowed to use higher power.

Will an old Airport Express work with a 4th generation AirPort Extreme?
My Airport Express model A1084 will not seem to work with my 4th generation AirPort Extreme.
I've tried everything I could think of to get it to work.
I am able to set it up(Extend existing network) with a copy of Snow Leopard but although it has a green light and seems to be working, I can't pick up a signal on any of my devices. Everything on iStumbler looks ok to me except the channel on the Airport express is 3 and the Extreme is 149. The Express is on the 2.4 ghz and the Extreme is 5ghz. What should I look for on iStumbler that might give me a clue?

MotThe A1084 does not have a setting to "extend a wireless network", so it cannot be used for that purpose with the newer AirPort Extreme.
The A1084 Express can "join" the wireless network provided by the AirPort Extreme, and be used for AirPlay and to run a remote USB printer, but the Express does not provide any additional wireless signal coverage when it joins a wireless network.
You need the new A1392 version of the Express or the previous version, the A1264 if you want the Express to "extend" a wireless network wirelessly.
The older A1084 Express could be used to provide more wireless coverage if you can permanently connect the Express to the Extreme with a wired Ethernet cable connection. -
Hi..I have an AirPort Extreme base connected to my DSL Modem and has been working fine. But I recently bought another DSL modem along with the latest Airport Express. With this one however I can't get it to connect to the Internet. The light on the Express is flashing green though. Does it mean I have to re-set the settings on Airport Utility? I.e. the old settings haven't been cleared yet. Any suggestions?

You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...

No Airport Express since I downloaded the lest version of Itunes
I have just downloaded the latest version of itunes 6.02.23 and have now lost visibility of my airport express speakers. This happened to me after downloading 6.01 also. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes this started with our powerbook last week. Carried airport express to dealer and he checked it out but didn't with the PB and itunes. Still have problem where the speaker pop up icon in itunes does not appear. Have upgraded firmware to 6.3 and itunes to 6.02. Attempted to reload earlier versions of firmware and got communication error.

I have an AirPort Express, iPhone 5, and MacBook (late 2010). How do I see the graphical overview of my network? (I can't seem to find a way to see it).
My computer is acting....well, strange. I can't put my finger on it but it doesn't seem right. Menus look skewed. Some applications look like they're trying to disguise themselves as apple (no consistant window formats). Airplay turns on and off on my devices on it's own. And some locked system preference seem to unlock themselves, or won't even grey-out after I lock them.
I have changed my password many times but the issue keeps coming back. I feel like I'm going crazy - but I know that something just isn't right...maybe someone's been hacking me? (I have no idea why...)
Anyway, maybe I could have stemmed from an improper setup of my wireless network.
Any thoughts?

The Flash Player is not running but it is there and it is enabled and Active X is not checked. The Player version is 16.0.0.305. I have the latest ie11 and the latest W8.1. I have used the Adobe tool to delete the Flash and subsequently I have updated or reloaded Flash using your updater. I have gone into IE options and insured that the settings are supportive of Flash. The Adobe mini Flash test program on your site says it not enabled or Active X is enabled - not true - all is set as it should be. I have gone through your forums but to no avail. I've looked in MS forums but nothing that made any difference. What's going on and what can I do about it?
Try using Firefox. Flash usually works on Firefox when it won't on Safari. I noticed that the Safari does not show the same version as Firefox does. Iwonder if that could be the problem. Safari on the left shows 10.1, Firefox show 10.3

I just updated my pages and now it won't load. This is on my iPad. The first version which has the latest version it can have 5.1 or something like that. I am trying to open a document and am worried that if I uninstall and reinstall I will lose all my documents
I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I hope that the reinstall fixes it without losing everything. Please advise!!! Yes, I am in panic mode.
