Hello there,
Some info from the docs ...
Characteristics have to be activated before they can be used.
Save means that all changed characteristics are created, and that the table entries are saved. Currently, however, they cannot be used for reporting in InfoProviders. For the time being, if it already exists, the activated, older version remains unchanged here.
Only once you have activated, are the relevant objects created in the data dictionary (data elements, domains, text tables, master data tables, and programs). Only now do the InfoProviders work with the activated, new version.
In the InfoObject maintenance, you can switch at any time between any D, M, or A versions that exist for an InfoObject.
Cheers!

  • What is the differences between the older version of Oracle Financials and the 11 i

What is the differences between the older version of Oracle Financials and 11i?

Vijay,Thanks for your answer, but I am still not clear about it,I have a instance to describe my question at detail.
If there is a final product A, and the planning strategy for A is 20(MTO), the procurement type of A is F(external procurement) at the view mrp2 in the material master datas.
    step1: I creat a sales order.
    step2: run MRP for A.
step3: transfer the purchase requistion into a purchase order, and the field of acc.***.cat. in the purchase order will be filled out M automatically, because the acc.***.cat. in the planning strategy 20(MTO) is set with E.
Well, the purchase order is created, what is the relationship between the sales order and the purchase order? What will be happened about costing between the SO and the PO?
If I delete the E, I make the PO become a standard PO, what is difference between standard PO and the PO including E?
    Best Regards

With Service Pack there is a support for Servlet 2.2 and JSP 1.1.

One major difference is that 4.6 runs on what they call the basis layer, in 4.7 the basis layer was majorly modified to include new web technologies, hence the renaming of Basis to Web Application Server. 4.7 runs on the Web Application Server 6.20. With this, was the introduction to BSPs or Business Server Pages.
Also have a look at the link:
    http://www.thespot4sap.com/Articles/SAP_Enterprise_4point7.pdf
Here is a quick short list though:- Statements for character processing have additions IN BYTE MODE and IN CHARACTER MODE, this affects statements like DESCRIBE LENGTH, OPEN DATASET
Header lines should not longer be used for tables (in OO context this is not even possible)
TABLES statement in reports should no longer be used
PNPCE for concurrent employement (new logical DB for HR)
For OO abap there a plenty of short forms for method calls that were not previously available.
One very cool feature is that data reference's can have actual data types and van be referenced directly without field symbols.
Additions to many abap statements, for example there is now a ALL OCCURENCES addition to the replace statement.
Class based exceptions are now available (although it is debatable how usefull these are seeing as there is no FINALLY part to the try catch statement, very disappointing but maybe that is just me).
Friends have been introduced for OO abap.
Dynamic program has plenty of improvements, for example there is now a TYPE TABLE OF variant for create data which lets you dynamically create an internal table with a structure type, your can also now call a class constructor with different importing parameters dynamically.

  • Difference between 4.7 version and 6.0 version

what is the difference between 4.7 version and 6.0 version particularly as far as SD is concerned?

    dear vinayak
There are so many differences between the version in different objects
I will explain in two or more objects the difference
1 in the customer master in 4.6 version there is no partner function tab in the customer in xd01 t-code
and also there is no CIN tab in that version
but it is there in the 4.7 EE version
This is the major change from the 4.6cc to 4.7EE
    2. in 4.7EE there is some settings that are related for CIN
which cannot be done in 4.7EE that means they need some patches for doing the configuration setting for the CIN
But we can do the same in the 6.0 version
These are the some of the settings that are differed in the two versions and in that two objects

  • What are the differences between a trial version and a licensed copy of RoboHelp?

What are the differences between a trial version and a licensed copy of RoboHelp? How is original Robohelp software useful compared to the evaluation version (freely downloaded software)
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
The only difference should be that the trial is limited to 30 days use. All functionality works and nothing is watermarked Trial or suchlike.
The trial of the standalone version allows you to link to FrameMaker documents. It should not and that feature will be disabled if you proceed with the full version. Other than the time limitation, that is the only difference.

  • Differences between Java Servlet and Portlets

    Hello,
May anyone let me know the differences between Java Servlet, JavaBeans and Portlets? It seems quite similar to each other... By the way, what are differences between a servlet container and portlet container? Thank you.
    Charoite

JavaBeans are totally different from servlets or portlets. JavaBeans can be used in just about any environment. A JavaBean is basically a java class with a no-arg constructor which follows certain naming conventions for its get and set methods.
Servlets can only function in an "web containers" which are provided by application servers which support servlets. The main function of servlets is to process requests (usually http requests) and generate output (usually web pages). They usually perform validation and other processing and then delegate the web page generation to a jsp.
Portlets are similar to servlets but rather than generating an entire web page, their output is relegated to a portion of a page. A single web page may contain the output of several portlets. These portlets can communicate with each other. The portlet container provides the functionality to merge the output of the various portlets and the infastructure required to support the portlets.

  • Deployment: servlet version differences?

    Oracle 8.1.7 (pc, NT4)
iFS 1.1.9 (on the same oracle root)
    JDeveloper 3.2 (on another pc)
I've got ever so close to getting my app working on Oracle 8.1.7 with Apache. I'm getting the following error when i try to add new or edit a record:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.servlet.ServletRequest: method setAttribute(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/Object;)V not found
A search in past topics leads me to believe i'm running a version of Servlet specification that does not support 'setAttribute'. When I do a search for servlet.jar i get the following
    On the oracle box:
    /orant/lib/servlet.jar...45k
    /orant/jis/lib/servlet.jar...45k
    /orant/ifs1.1/jws/lib/servlet.jar...25k
    On the jdeveloper box:
    /jdeveloper/lib/servlet.jar...40k
The installation of ifs uses /orant/jis/lib/servlet.jar.
So what's the story? Do I need to upgrade something here or is it a matter of copying a few more files over from the jdeveloper installation.
If I need to update my servlet specification please point me in the right direction.
    soooo close, thanks, DC

if you're deploying your jdev 3.2.2 servlet (which uses servlet api 2.1 and 2.2) to the the apache jserv component which only supports servlet api 2.0 -- you will have problems.
you need to deploy these servlets to the oracle servlet engine (ose) component found in the oracle 8i jvm component of the ias 9i or rdbms817 products.

  • XSQL Servlet Version 1.0.0.0 with ServletExec 3.0 on Windows2000 IIS 5

I am attempting to establish an XML connection to Oracle 8i in a Windows2000 IIS 5 environment. The .xsql/index.htm loads perfectly, but when i try to run helloworld, I recieve the following error.
"The XML page cannot be displayed
Reference to undeclared namespace prefix: :'xsql'. Line 2 position 13
    <xsql:query>"
The other examples load up the HTML but do not load any of the active XSQL information.
    Configuration:
I have installed Suns JDK 1.2.2 and JRE 2, ServletExec 3.0 on a windows2000 box running IIS 5. ServletExec seems to be functioning perfectly. I installed the Oracle Servlet 1.0.0.0 by configuring ServletExec's ClassPath, Alias, and Servlet Configuration, mapped the .xsql extension to the servlet, and setup the XSQL virtual directory according to the documentation. I am trying to connect to to an external Oracle 8i database, and have adjusted the parameters in the XSQLConfig.xml accordingly.
    null

The helloworld example doesn't work in XSQL 102. Tested using xsql command with http url. See below. If I put xsql: in front of connection in helloworld.xsql, the error moves from column 13 to 36, so now the trouble lies with xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql". What has changed? How do we solve this?

Major difference is ECC6 is netwear product having WASJAVA+ABAP
secondly support unicode apart from this we have other diff. you can get fom master guide from service.sap.com/instguides
For installing ECC 6.0 you required a solution manager key. With out solutionmanager key you cannot install ECC6.0.
For ECC 6.0 is called netweaver component here you have ABAP+JAVA stack.
    ECC6.0 supports UNCODE.
For installing 4.6 you don't required solution manager key.It only having ABAP stack.
    4.6C supports NONUNICODE.
Hope this would add some more info.
