Difference between 1st & 2nd editions of Tom Wolsky's book?

I bought the 1st edition when it was released. Are there enough changes in the 2nd edition to justify purchasing it? (I have since upgraded from the original version of FCE to FCE-HD).

There are some substantial differences in the way the application works between v1 and v2. There are no real differences between v2 and v3, except for the inclusion of HDV. Some of the techniques you used in FCE1 may not work in later versions because of changes to the application.

  • Is there comaptibility differences between 1st & 2nd generaton Nano?

    Hi Everyone,
My brother had his 1st generation nano stolen and the insurance company replaced it with a second generation nano. I have two issues that I hope you can help with-
    1) Before his 1st gen nano was stolen he could plug it into his television (home entertainment system) and play songs from his ipod directly through the television he is now unable to do this with the 2nd gen nano - anyone have any suggestions?
    2) He has just bought a Hyundi Coupe which comes with the ipod connector as standard. He has never connected an ipod to it but has now tried to connect the 2nd gen nano and it is not working.
    Can anyone please help!
    Thanks
    David

    David,
As far as the things you are trying to do, there should be no difference.
How are you connecting the iPod Nano to the TV?
Are you using the headphone output or something connected to the docking port. If you are using the headphone socket then that should work as before. If you are using the docking port then what are you using to connect to the TV?
How is the pod being connected in the car via the headphone port or the docking port? Again if via the headphone port then this should work just the same as connecting headphones. If it is via the docking port this should be OK as well.
It may be that the docking port is faulty if you are not getting any output.

  • What are the differences between iPod 2nd and 3rd Generation models?

    Hi:
I have a couple questions about the differences between some of the iPod Touch models:
    1) What is the difference between the *2nd Gen 8GB iPod touch* and the *3rd Gen 8GB iPod touch?*
    2) What are the differences among the *3rd Gen iPod Touch 8GB* model and the *32 GB and 64 GB models* (other than the memory differences)?
    Thanks!

    none, really.

the 32 & 64 GB models have advanced hardware components. 32GB and 64GB Touches gain 3GS specs - roughly 2x faster, with more advanced 3D graphics for games that capitalize on OpenGL 2.0 - and features like Voice Control.

  • Differences between 1st Gen + upgrade and 2nd Gen?

Hi all. I was looking into purchasing a new iPod touch, but before I do so, I was wondering if there is any difference between getting an iPod touch 1st generation and purchasing the software upgrade and simply purchasing a 2nd generation? Reason being that I can get a 1st gen much cheaper than the $10 that it would cost to get the software upgrades, so if I can do that it would be great.
So is it a seamless upgrade or will there be some small differences between the two? Thanks in advance for the replies!

Updating a 1st gen Touch to 2.1 is the way to go if you don't care too much about the primary differences, where the 2nd gen Touch has the speaker, external volume control, and slimmer at the edges. I've had both and am glad that I have updated to the 2nd gen Touch.
Note that the 2nd gen Touch does not have the same charging circuit as previous iPod models, so if you have 3rd party chargers that rely on the 12V (firewire) pin on the iPod's dock connector, those won't work. For the 2nd gen Touch you need to have "Made for iPod" designated charging accessories which use the 5V (USB) pin of the connector. Chargers don't specify which pin of the connector they use, so if you go with a 2nd gen Touch be sure that any accessories you buy for it are designated specificatly for the 2nd gen.

  • What is the difference between 1st and 2nd generation of the Itouch?

Can someone tell me the difference between the 1st and 2nd generation of the itouch? I'm looking to upgrade from my nano to a 32gb Itouch.

The speaker is a big plus. Who wants to dig up their headphones just to play a quick game of Lux Touch or play with your light sabre without anyone else hearing the sound effects :)? The lack of a volume control is also a major complaint of IPT 1G users. The only thing that should swing you back to the 1G is the iPod accessories you already have that may be rendered obsolete.

  • Differences between Oracle Personal Edition and Enterprise Edition

What are the differences between the databases of Oracle Personal Edition and the Oracle Enterprise Edition..?

I have just looked at the metalink document and see that Oracle are still blatantly lying about the availability of analytical functions.
We chose standard edition on the basis of this document and were very annoyed to find we could not use analytical functions.
The document is about 8i. Of course we are all on 9i these days aren't we ?

  • Difference between Oracle9i Standard Edition and Oracle9i Enterprise Editio

    Hi,
Can someone please tell me what is the difference between the Oracle9i Standard Edition and Oracle9i Enterprise Edition.
    Regards

First, if you want Enterprise Options like Partitioning, you need to have Oracle Enterprise Editions. Note that partitioning is not included in an Enterprise Edition license ! You have to buy the option separatly (+25% of price).
A good reason to use EE is the ability to scale to more than 4 cpus...
Note that on some systems like Solaris 10, you can use SE with a multi-cpu machine, you just need to create projects and allocate at most 4 cpus for the oracle user.
Check with your sales representative for some coefficients per core depending on your architecture .

  • What is the difference between 9i standard edition and enterprise edition

    hi,
who can tell me what is the difference between ora 9i standard edition and enterprise edition?? relevant http links are also appreciated. thank you!
    regards,
    iron teung.

If your 'professor' really said that then I think you need to find a new college!I agree. 11g is a superset of 9i. In fact, you can tell 11g to run in 9i compatibility mode.
    >
I firmly believe that you would do well starting with
9i and then going through the new features with each
release to 11g.Since 9i is officially about to start it's second year in 'Extended Support' (which, due to the surcharge in support fee, will likely see a drop-off in adoption) I would encourage anyone studying Oracle database to start with 10g.
But the idea of starting at 9i is not bad.
    >
'Client' is the software required to
    access/interact/maintain an Oracle database remotely
from a client machine. Different features become
available as you progress from Personal to Standard
to Enterprise editions. They are cost related to
whichever license you buy in a production environment. One point of confusion is that Personal Edition really is targeted for the Developer and therefore includes all capabilities, features and options of Enterprise Edition turned on and included in the license. (Except RAC and OEM packs) When I draw a picture, I put Personal Edition at the top as most capable.

I view it as a complete waste of time and energy to go point you to some links you could readily find yourself, only to be then told (as I can infer what would happen from this so far): "No, that's not what I want - give me something else".
Go do your research, and ask some specific questions if need be.

  • Differences between BI Standard Edition and EE?

I am looking at using BI Publisher to integrate with APEX 3.x... Now I was looking at BI Publisher EE but noticed that there is a Standard Edition.. Could you explain to me what the difference is between the two versions?
Is it a licensing issue (per user versus per server/processor) or is there a difference in the code? Will the Standard Edition work with APEX 3.x?
    Thank you,
    Tony Miller
    UTMB/EHN

    Hi Tony,
I haven't seen different versions of BI Publisher other than the standalone and eBusiness embedded. Where are you seeing reference to BI Publisher Standard Edition? IT-Eye has a good writeup on BI EE vs BI SE:
    http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2007/06/25/oracle-business-intelligence-standard-edition-one-bi-on-a-budget
Of course its not direct from Oracle, so no guarantees its correct ... but hey, might even be better than coming from Oracle.
