  • Difference between r/3 report and bw report

    Hi
can u give me detail difference between r/3 report and bw report.all information is geting in r/3 y bw report
plz send me any document if u have
    prasanth.k

    Hi,
These two reporting seem to function similarly with slice and dice.
    A) The major benefits of reporting with BW over R/3 are in terms of performance and analysis.
    1. Performance -- Heavy reporting along with regular OLTP transactions can produce a lot of load both on the R/3 and the database (cpu, memory, disks, etc). Just take a look at the load put on your system during a month end, quarter end, or year-end -- now imagine that occurring even more frequently.
    2. Data analysis -- BW uses a Data Warehouse and OLAP concepts for storing and analyzing data, where R/3 was designed for transaction processing. With a lot of work you can get the same analysis out of R/3 but most likely would be easier from a BW.

  • Difference between Drill down Report and Interactive Report

What is the difference between Drill down Report and Interactive Report?

    Hi,
Drill down report and Interactive report seems to be acts as same. But there is a minor difference between those two.
Drill Down Report  - When you  click on a particular field in a report it drills down to the next report, it won't trigger another screen.
Interactive Report -  When you click on a particular field in a report it will trigger another report based on the field clicked. It opens another session internally in the same screen.

  • Purchase price difference between SAP R/3 and BWI report

    Hi
Purchase price difference between SAP R/3 and BWI report
What is purchase price variance ?, my user is telling that  in SAP R/3, purchase price variance 100 and in  BWI  report it is 200 .
Any other terminologies are there for purchase price variance ?
And any idea wherefrom BWI will take this purchase price variance ?
    Thanks In advance

Purchase price variance is he difference in price between the amount paid to the supplier and the planned or standard cost of that item
Request you to check your data first in your Cube/ODS, better would be to check in the data container where the data is first loaded.
Also check if this field is getting directly loaded as 1-to-1 mapping.

  • Difference between AFTER PARAMETER FORM and BEFORE REPORT in Reports 6i

    Hi Aii,
What is the difference between AFTER PARAMETER FORM and BEFORE REPORT in Reports 6i.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Balu

    Hi Balu.,
As per my findings the After Parameter is fired after the Parameters are given to the report and Before Report fires when the queries are parsed and data is fetched.

  • Difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL

What is the difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL in Reporting Service configuration manager in SQl Server 2008 Reporting Setrvices

Another way to put it is the Web Service URL is just that, its used for services that are connecting to issue API calls.  The Report Manager URL is the nice GUI that users should use.  If you click the links, you should see the difference.  I
am sure you have likely done that, but functionally one is for programmatic purposes and the other to be the front end graphical user interface.

  • Difference Between Web application design and Report Designer

    Hi,
I have searched in the forum as well i Google it but still i am not clear the difference between Web application Designer and report Designer , why especially we go for WAD ? and  what is not possible in Report designer which we can do in WAD  Please some one explain me that would be great helpful to me. i am having lot of confusion in this issue.
    thanks,
    Gal

    Hi,
The Report designer is completely for formating of your query and results. Here you have the flexibility to design your query(one/more) results in your own way.
The WAD is for displaying various web items at one short for a single/multiple query. And here you have the flexibility to do the XML coding on the web items, but not as much you have the flexibility on Report Designer.
But, Report designer will have more performance issues than WAD. So, generally it helps when you need extreme formating of your reports.
    Hope this clears your doubt.

    Srinivas.

  • Difference between After parameter Trigger and befor report Trigger

    hi,
Can anyone tell me Functional difference between After parameter Trigger and Before Report Trigger. with some practical example or scenario.
I did try few things but I couldn't make out any difference.
    thanks
    ram

    Probably none at this point.
We pass parameters from a form (and do not use the report param selection screen), but always run code in the afterpform.
put your parameter form code processing in the afterpform. I rarely ever use before report.
    The order is as expected:
    before pform
    param form
    after pform
    before report
    report
    --between pages during report run
    after report

  • Difference between Hyperion Financial Reporting version 7.0 and 9.3.1 ?

    Hi All,
Can you please difine Difference between Hyperion Financial Reporting version 7.0 and 9.3.1 ?

I migrated from 7.5 to 9.3.1 a couple years back so hopefully this is somewhat helpful.
From a developer perspective, the report designer itself looks about the same. The most annoying changes for me were that they started migrating functionality AWAY from the client program and to the web. For instance, managing security is a pain as it is done through Workspace and it is a bit clunkly. I also ran into some issues where my old report's security information is not visible in Workspace. It is still 'working', but when you view report properties, it shows nothing for who has assigned security. Also, things like deleting/moving reports and creating folders are done through workspace and not the client program. "Copying" can be done through the client program by using "Save As" functionality.
There is a migration tool to move your old stuff to 9.3.1. It seemed to work OK; however, the User Interface was a bit screwy. For instance, it said I was 138% complete when it finished. It copied more reports than it showed as existing.... :)
On the back end, things changed quite a bit. In the older Financial Reports, the report objects existing in a single database table and if you wanted to, you could extract everything from that table. In 9.3.1, part of the information is in Workspace database (i.e. Report names/ID's, security access, hierarchy) and the actual report file itself is stored in a psedo-filesystem under the RM webapp. The names are not user friendly at all and you'll need to XREF from the database to make sense of it. When you finally find the actual report "file", they are compressed/encrypted.
From an end user perspective, things pretty much work the same way as always.

  • Difference between a Character mode and Bitmap mode reports

What are the differences between a character mode and bitmap mode reports

    hi saikumar
In Oracle Reports Designer, character mode, the
APPLICATIONS STANDARDS REQUIRE the report to be designed in
ONE FONT/ ONE CHARACTER SIZE. Character mode reports
generate ASCII output. In ASCII you cannot dynamically
change the font and character size. The standard is in
effect so a report prints as identically as possible from
    both conventional and postscript printers....

  • Difference between Realtime Data Acqisition and Direct Data Access ?

    Hi experts,
What is RDA and DDA and whrere these two are used ?
What is the Difference between Realtime Data Acqisition and Direct Data Access?
Please explain me in a detail manner, i will assign points for ur valuable answers..............

    Hi,
Eventhough the aim of the two methods are to report on the latest data, there is a difference in both.
In Realtime Data Acqisition you are loading the data into BW and then reporting on that data from BW Infoproviders.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/52/777e403566c65de10000000a155106/content.htm
I think you are refering to Virtual providers by the term Direct Data Access. In  Direct Data Access you are not loading data into BW. Data is residing in R/3 itself. Your reports will fetch data from R/3 directly. The data is called during execution of a query in the source system.

  • Difference between SAP Access Control and IDM

    Hi Expert,
I have one question What is the difference between SAP Access Control and SAP Identity Management ?

    Ali,
That's a good question, but a tough one.
While both applications can do most of what the other can do, it's a matter of specialization in my opinion.
Access Control is all about managing and controlling access to SAP system roles and has the ability to report on role conflicts for compliance and reporting purposes. (I'm sure I'm leaving a lot out, but maybe a GRC / AC expert can fill in more details)
SAP IDM is about managing the user life cycle with regards to landscape and enterprise systems. It will handle the creation, update and ultimately the removal (or de-provisioning) of users in SAP ABAP, SAP JAVA, LDAP, JDBC, and API based applications.  It will also do Role Management through a web based UI (User management is web based as well). and as of the latest Service pack for SAP IDM 7.2, it will do attestation (limited certification) as well. It is a definite upgrade to CUA as it will work with a greater variety of systems, include workflows and approvals.
GRC will do some provisioning, but it's somewhat limited, as is IDM's compliance abilities.
The applications are designed to work together, however it does not have a great track record and the integration is typically heavily modified to work as desired.
If you have specific questions, feel free to post / DM.  Obviously I am more knowledgeable about IDM, but I'll be happy to help you in any way possible.
    Regards,
    Matt
