Difference between actions & personnel actions

Hi
what is the difference between actions & personnel actions
Regards

Hi,
by Actions do you mean Actions infotype or object actions in OM which are accessed through PP03?
Personnel Actions - These help you maintain data by providing a serious of infotypes which you define through infogroup.
Actions (IT0000) - This is the table that maintains the action data and reasons along with statuses
Objection Actions is similar to Personnel actions - here while maintaining objects such as position or org units etc you are provided with a serious of infotypes which you can maintain.
hope this helps

  • What is the difference between Action & Workflow?

    hi,
What is the difference between Action & Workflow?
    regards,
    babu

    Hi,
    Actions
Actions are important for maintaining and improving business relationships. You can schedule and start predefined processes with the Actions component by means of user-definable conditions from transaction and marketing objects.
You can tailor the type and time of actions to the requirements of your customers and the processes in your company. This component enables you to match your service, sales and distribution management, and your campaign management even more closely to customer needs, and, simultaneously, to automate them
In simple words Actions are automatic actions that are configured to occur in business transactions (activity, sales order, quotation etc.) as a result of particular condition like change of status to let us say "in process" from "open".
    Workflow:
The automation of a business process, in whole or part, during which documents, information or tasks are passed from one participant* to another for action, according to a set of procedural rules.
*participant = resource (human or machine)
SAP Business Workflow is the R/3 tool for handling the process automation within R/3 or between R/3 systems and other systems involved in the business process. It is flexible enough to handle ad hoc processes such as the circulation of an electronic document. It is robust enough to handle mission critical process in the production system such as the creation of a material master.
The different R/3 applications supply standard workflows for the commonly occurring processes. Once these workflow templates are activated, they are ready for immediate use. A complete set of workflow tools, including the workflow editor and workflow generation wizard, are provided to enhance these standard workflows or create new workflows. These tools are complemented with transactions for monitoring, tracking and the statistical analysis of the processes.
Because the business process often does not step at the R/3 boundary, various interfaces and third party tools are available for extending the process across systems.

  • What is the difference between action and workflow? How do I decide that I need an action in a transaction and not a workflow and vice versa?

    Dear Experts,
I have few doubts and request your expert inputs to clarify my doubts.
What is the difference between action and workflow? How do I decide that I need an action in a transaction and not a workflow and vice versa?
Your earliest response is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    SMTP

    Hi SMTP,
First of all, as I mentioned action is nothing but an executable work item which is designed in the workflow itself. In other words, Workflow is like your OOPS class. At run time, workflow instances are created just like objects of classes. Now, the steps designed in the workflow are called TASKS and the instances of tasks are called WORKITEMS. Now, the work items where any user action is required are called executable work items. ANd the work items where no user action is required (for example, sending an email in background) are called non-executable work items.
Whether to go with development of workflow or not depends upon your business scenario. If your requirement is only to send an email and you find any BAdi or exit where in you can write your logic then there is no need of creating a workflow. If there is a defined business process with defined users and time lines, then you can go with the development of workflows.
Rest, the below link will help you in understanding basic concepts of workflow :

  • Difference between action and event

    Hi
while creating an action, we will find action & event handler.  What is the difference between Action and event.  If anyone provide with examples, it will be helpful for me.
    regards,
    vijaya.

    HI,
In simple words we can put it as..IF you need any user interaction.. i.e. if your logic is based upon how user interact with your application then use Action..
    e.g. Buttons, dropdown UI elements...etc..
Means actions are act between user and your application.
But your application not only communicate with user. But also communicate with server too.
so to communicate with server you need and Event
Note. In Web Dynpro, events are called actions if they are sent from the client to the server.

  • Difference between action and actionListener

I would like to tell me which is the difference between an action and an actionListener in the following example:
    <h:form style="text-align:center">
    <h:commandButton image="mountrushmore.jpg"
    actionListener="#{rushmore.listen}"
    action="#{rushmore.act}"/>
</h:form>Which method of the rushmore bean is invoked first the listen() or the act()? Based on the JSF lifecycle the action events are invoked in the Invoke Application Phase correct? So first we have the process of validation and then the action is invoked right? And then the listener?
    Thanks in advance.

Action = Executed in the invoke application phase. Runs a method in a bean that returns a String object. The String is used by the navigation system to determine which page to render next. The rules for this are set up in the faces-config.xml file, in the navigation-rule sections.
ActionListener = Executed in the invoke application phase. Is triggered when the action event occurs for the component the listener is attached too. This listener can perform miscellaneous actions required when the button is clicked, but does not return a String that affects the navigation.
What order do they get called? Try this out!
    http://www.jsftutorials.net/faces-config/phaseTracker.html
It'll help you understand the JSF lifecycle. Which is VERY important, especially when those weird errors start occurring (or JSF seems to be ignoring your commands).

  • What's the difference between Action Objects and ActionListeners

    Hello,
in the Introduction to JSF two ways handling action are demonstrated. One way is "Combining Component Data and Action Object" the other way is "Handling Events."
What's the difference? When do I use this or that way?
The one thing I understand is when using "Combining Component Data and Action Objects" I use the default ActionListener and I may directly access the input values.
    TIA,
    Juergen

    Hi Juergen,
The bottomline is 'not much', only in the details to these two approaches differ.
The ActionListener object will have events broadcast to it for a particular object by the event mechanism in JSF. You can add one to a specific component via the f:action_listener tag. This will have your listener getting events during specific points in the request processing lifecycle (you specify via your return value for getPhaseId).
The Action class that an actionRef reference refers to an Action that will be invoked during the invoke application phase. (see pg 71).
I would recommend using actionRefs and Action objects wherever possible and going to ActionListeners only when you need notifications during a specific phase of the request/response cycle.
    Hope this helps,

  • In Request type, what is the difference between action 'Change user' and 'Assign object'

    Dear All,
I have used only 'Assign Object' for my 'Change User' request type. But the standard request type has 'Change user'. So, could you suggest , what additional purpose does Change Object serve
    Regards
    Plaban

    HI Plaban
not sure if you answered your own question here?
Change User - by itself would allow update of address data, user parameters, defaults, etc
Assign Object - as you mentioned roles and profiles.
However, if assigning, I think you need to have both actions: change and assign
I recall (ages ago) that change was only the user details and not the role or profiles. As a result, there were a few threads where people had to update the action for the request type of provisioning would not occur.
This is something you could test

  • Audit Universe - Difference between Document Refresh & Read Document

    Hi,
I have created reports to track the User Activity on different Universe and I am using Action Name filter with Read Document & Document Refresh.
I am always getting Read Document counts less than Document Refresh count. I am a bit confused because I expected a document to be read when someone clicks on report name and if they hit the refresh button it should get recorded in Document Refresh Action. So always Read Document should be more than document Refresh as one needs to open a report before they can refresh it.
Please explain the difference between Action Name=Read Document & Document Refresh.
    Kind Regards,
    Zahra

    From the Auditor's Guide:
Read Document: User opens an existing Web Intelligence document
Refresh Document: User *manually* refreshes a Web Intelligence document, or a user open a Web Intelligence document that is set to "Refresh on open".
As you pointed out, a document must be read before it can be refreshed. So the number of refreshes cannot be greater than the number of reads.
Does your report aggregate data over a number of days? Is it possible that the Document Read action (for that user/report) fell outside your time period?

  • Difference between LOA paid LOA unpaid personnel actions?

    Hi experts,
I just wanted to know how the difference between personnel actions LOA paid and LOA unpaid is specified in personnel actions in regards to infogroups and any configuration settings.
    Thanks..
    JEss..

    Hi,
These actions are defined just to identify em[loyee as on Leave on Absence and some employees remain active and are paid and some get inactive and are not paid.
Depending uon requirement with client either wage types are separated to be paid along with employee group sub group defined separately.
    Thanks,

  • Differences between Monitor and Decrypt actions in Decryption Policies

    Hi Everybody,
Currently I'm working in my first WSA (S170) implementation and some questions has popped up while I was configuring the Decryption policies. The main question here is:
What are the differences between "monitor" and "decrypt" in the URL Filtering options. As I understand the "decrypt" action allows the WSA to decrypt the packet and treats it like a plain HTTP packet applying the Access Policies, malware inspection and so on. Then I do not really know what the Monitor option does, I'm assuming that it does not decrypt the packet and only checks the destination URL and to allow or not the connection.
Thanks in advance for your collaboration.
    Jose M. Cortes H.

If you set it for Decrypt, it always decrypts stuff in that category.
If you set it to monitor, then other criteria in the policy are used for whether to decrypt or not, such as Web Reputation...
Here's the flow, which I pulled from the online help:

  • Event Action Filters (difference between column Active & Enabled?)

    I have a IPS4260, running v6.0(3).
Under "Configuration" > "Event Action Rules" > "Event Action Filter".
What is the difference between column "Active" and "Enabled"? This is confusing.

Event action filters are evaluated in a specified order. Active means that a filter participates in the order. Enabled means that it can perform a filtering action. Use Disable when you want to preserve the order, but not perform the action (e.g. if you want to turn it off for debugging, but want to keep it's place in the list later). Use Inactive when you don't want the filter in the ordering at all (e.g. if you want to keep it as a reminder, but don't plan to use it again). The filter list is displayed by CLI and IDM in logical order - first all of the Active filters in their specified order, and then all of the Inactive filters. I don't think the designers really intended to have 2 similar options; it is more a side effect of the data model used for storing the configuration.

  • Difference between jsp forward action tag and response.forward()

    hi guys
i have just started programming using j2ee technology.
could anyone please tell me what is the difference between the jsp forward action tag and froward method using the response object?

There really isn't one. The JSP forward tag is a convenience tag for JSP, that uses the response method.

  • What's the difference between include directive & include action tag?

I no that the directive is used for including static content,
while the action is also used for dynamic content.
So the first one will include the content into the JSP only at compilation time. The second one will include the content every time you access the JSP.
    *<html>*
    *<body>*
    *<h1> Include Action test PAge</h1>*
    *<h2> Using the include directive</h2>*
    *<%@ include file="included2.html"%>*
    *<%@ include file="included2.jsp"%>*
    *<h2> Using the include action</h2>*
    *<jsp:include page="included2.html" flush="true"/>*
    *<jsp:include page="included2.jsp" flush="true"/>*
    *</body>*
*</html>*    I tried withis code. But its giving the same result.I didn't modified the source. I modified in the included file.As I request for the JSP page I got the same result for both.
so i just want to know that is thier any way or example by which i can see the difference between these two clearly..
    please help me out.
    thnx.

As our almighty Google says: @include is compiletime and jsp:include is runtime.
Install Google at your machine. It's really great. It has answers on almost all questions.
