Difference between Adobe DNG Converter & Lightroom DNG Converter?

I've converted NEFs to DNGS using both Adobe DNG Converter and Lightroom DNG Converter.
I found that the converted DNGS from Lightroom have a different icon in the finder that those convereted from Adobe DNG Converter. The icon in the finder from Lightroom looks like a file icon, and that from tthe Adobe DNG Converter looks more like a JPEG icon.
Otherwise they seem to be identical.
Thanks for any input.

It's not at all unusual for DNGs to be smaller file sizes if you did the DNG conversion using lossless compression, did you? Fuji raw files are known for being oversized due to the way they write their image data. Also, totally ignore any findings you may regarding JPEGs, those are lossy compressed and don't figure into the equation...

what is difference between adobe photoshop  and photoshop extended cs5

    Hi,
The biggest difference is the 3D feature set is only available in Ps Extended CS5. Exclusive to Extended CS5 also are timeline for video editing, Dicom format support, Stack mode blending, analysis measurement tools, and some 32-bit painting capabilities.
Some things have changed for the Photoshop Extended CS6 version, mainly enabling more of the video editing features for both products.

whats the difference between adobe flashplayer plugin, activex and adobe flashplayer?

How does Flash Player differ on various browsers?

  • Need Detailed description of the differences between Adobe Flash Player Plugin and Shockwave Flash

For many years now I have been in a quandry over Adobe Flash (plugin) and Shockwave flash. The quandry is also somewhat exacerbated by the variety of subsetted versions supplied for each.
You know, it is sorta like the name and namespace dilemna provided by Adobe's continuing use of "Macromedia" when sometimes referring to, or distributing, their products... eg still creating Macromedia folders during installs.
I have been told that Shockwave Flash actually contains the Flash plugins. If that is the case should I be upgrading to a newer Shockwave Flash version if  Adobe announces or (as recently occurred) denounces
a newer version of Adobe Flash.
Will you please provide me with details for, and distinctions between, these two products?
Hoping you can respond in a flash ... er... two flashes.
    Thanks

OK Thanks I silly-goofed in describing what I meant in my initial post. I needed to say what's the diff between Adobe Flash (=Shockwave Flash) (plugin) and Adobe Shockwave Player.
So will you please detail the differences between Adobe Flash (=Shockwave Flash) and Shockwave Player?
I have been told that Shockwave Player actually contains the Adobe Flash (=Shockwave Flash) plugins. Is it both
Flash Player ActiveX control for Internet Explorer
Flash Player plugin for all other browsers
    that are contained therein?
If the above is indeed the case, should I be upgrading to a newer Shockwave Player version if  Adobe announces or (as recently occurred) denounces a newer version of Adobe Flash (=Shockwave Flash) .
Here's where I am headed will all this:
I have been asked by one of your coworkers Chris Campbell,  to prepare an Adobe Bug report and paste back to the Adobe Forum thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4428382#4428382
Since I have Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.4.634 and Adobe Flash (aka Adobe Shockwave Flash) ver 11,1,102,55 currently installed and since
Adobe Flash 11.2.202.235 will not install without a "...The  procedure entry point ... kernel32.dll ..." error for my Windows 2000 Professional configuration
I want to uninstall Adobe Flash (=Shockwave Flash) ver 11,1,102,55 and the then further troubleshoot the MLB.TV media player "abnormal spinning circles" problem.
Will the MLB NexDef detector actually detect the "Flash version inside Shockwave player"?  Will the MLB.TV NexDef software actually work nicely with Shockwave Player Flash?

Is there a difference between Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0?

Yes: (these are just general differences, not specific to either photoshop 7 or photoshop elements 7)
(photoshop elements does offter one thing not mentioned that photoshop 7 doesn't have, a camera raw plugin that doesn't cost extra)
(photoshop elements 10 and photoshop cs5 are the current versions)

Whats the basic difference between adobe premiere pro cs6 and adobe premiere pro cc?

    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/whats-new.html
This shows you what's new in Premiere CC 2014, and you can use the links on the left side of that page to see earlier updates.
(CS6 is an old version, which was followed by CC and CC 2014)
And of course CC is subscription based and CS6 is a program you used to be able to purchase and own forever.

  • I'm trying to understand the difference between Photoshop Elements and Lightroom software.

Does one have things the other does not?

    Hi,
Lightroom is to manage photos and produce derivative images without ever modifying an original file. Its processing functionality has a narrow feature-set covering the most common needs of professional photographers whereas Elements is a simpler yet powerful photo manipulation tool. Elements is designed to satisfy the needs of photo enthusiasts who like to manipulate images.
You can also go through the thread to understand the basic difference between PSE and Lightroom.
    Check if this helps.

  • JPEG color difference between Adobe Raw and Microsoft Image Viewer

When I calibrate my monitor or use the monitors ICC file which came with the Monitor, there is a color difference between Camera Raw image and the JPEG I save from Camera Raw, displayed in Microsoft Image Viewer.
However, if I make my ICC file for the system to be SRGB Color Space Profile, and go through the same conversion, the JPEG image created and viewed in Microsoft Image viewer is identical to the one seen in Camera Raw.
It appears therefore, that the operating system only uses SRGB Color Space profile for Microsoft Imaging Viewer?
Most people I give photos to, do in fact look at them in microsoft viewer.
How can I use the ICC profile for my calibrated monitor and end up with the same results in terms of color with Camera Raw and Microsoft image and Fax Viewer.

All profiles are not created equal.  There's a basic version issue (ICC v4 vs. earlier), and profiles are complex things containing many fields.  Lots of things can go wrong in the creation of a proper color transform from the combination of the document and device profiles, and it kind of depends on what color management code the software uses whether it can be done properly.  Adobe has their own - the Adobe Color Engine - and there are others such as LittleCMS or even Microsoft's system-provided ICM that application designers may be using in their code.
It may be that the profile your calibrator/profiler has produced for your monitor (or other device) isn't compatible with every application.  It happens.
This isn't intended to provide a solution or workaround, just to help explain things a bit.

  • Why is there difference between Adobe Viewer and Dev ipa?

    Hello all
I think I am just going insane
I have check my folio in the adobe app, which is fine
But when i test it in the dev ipa, I have some problem like
I am blocked in some page: impossible to scroll down or left/right to another page or stack (I have the prob in some page wich have video, or only static image with text)
Some mpg animation doesnt play well, for ie they play first when you arrive in the page, but when you scrolldown to the page below and go back to the previous, le video has return to its first image
It is SO annoying to have such differences between the 2 apps
    How can we fix that?

Yes my dev app is also v18 enable
So when I take out the PDF option when importing my folio, I dont have anymore the prob of swiping to the other pages
But I still have the prob with my video (that goes back to the first image as soon as went to the page below - same stack- and play a bit with scrollable page button etc) then when i go up to the first page of my stack it went back and stop to the first image of the video.... same thing if it is a small video like a graph on the second page.... but this doesnt come from the Pinch and zoom option because I just re import my folio as AUTOMATIQUE and I still have this prob a video.... gonna try something else

  • Difference Between Adobe After Effects Standard and Pro for Mac

    Hi Gang
Can anyone tell me the major differences between After Effects 7.0 'Standard' and 'Pro 7.0' for Mac?
    Thanx
    Mike

AE 7 Pro contained additional features (such as motion tracking/stabilization) and plugins/effects that were not included in the Standard version.
With the release of CS3, Adobe abandoned the Standard/Pro segregation - now there is only one professionally-featured After Effects.

    Welcome to the forum.
This article is a bit older now, with changes to both PrPro CS 6 and PrE 11, but most aspects still hold. PrPro CS 6 has added even more "differences" though: http://forums.techsoup.org/cs/community/b/tsblog/archive/2011/10/18/premiere-elements-9-vs -premiere-pro-cs5.aspx

  • What are the differences between Elements 10 and Lightroom 3?

Hi,  I have Elements 6 on Macbook Pro (so use iPhoto and am happy with this as organiser and basic editor)  and wish to upgrade, but I need information / advice on the differences and haven't found a comparison to enable an informed choice.

Lightroom is a non-destructive editor and great for doing bulk adjustments’ and saving your own presets although you will only get maximum benefit if you shoot in raw. You will still need elements as Lightroom doesn’t have layers and many of the tools used for pixel editing, and adding text, however the Lightroom Library integrates well with the elements editor.

  • Colors differences between jpg and raw - Lightroom 4.1

    Dear All,
I have a doubt on colors and monitor profile. I am using an imac with monitor calibrated with Spyder pro3 and shoot photos with a Canon 500D (RAW+JPG).
I recently added a cir polarized filter to my camera, and really satisfied of colors I see in the camera screen, and the same colors I see on my imac when I look at jpg files. Unfortunately when I open photos on Lightroom 4.1, colors seems the same while loading the picture (probably reading the jpg) but than suddenly changes when rendering the preview and in develop module. Colors seems less vivid like missing some contrast (in attachment an example of the same file opened with lightroom and apple preview in raw and jpg).
I know that jpg created by camera are different from raw files, but actually never had such a difference in colors with all other photos I shoot before. Is this because of the filter or do I have to set anything in particular in lightroom, such as monitor profile or others?
Thank you for your kind advices, have a nice day,
    dk

  • Differences between adobe premiere elements 8 and adobe premiere pro cs4

I'm planning to download either adobe premiere elements 8 or adobe premiere pro cs4, but first would like to know their differences in regards to features that best suits me.

I'd recommend posting to the PrE forum, per John's suggestion. The reason for that is you will get more background on PrE there, and few users in the PrPro forum know much about PrE.
In very general terms, here are my observations:
1.) PrPro handles everything by hand, while PrE is a "big-button" program, and much is done automatically, or semi-automatically.
2.) With that hand-work comes great power and PrPro offers so very much more, than does PrE.
3.) Export options are much broader in PrPro.
4.) PrE offers a semi-automatic, limited DVD/BD authoring function, while PrPro comes with Encore, a very versatile full-featured authoring program. Little in Encore is done automatically, but one has so much more control over the Project.
5.) PrPro allows one to edit with Sequences, which can have different types of source footage, one for each Sequence. In PrE, one can only use one type of source footage, or they have to manipulate one, and have the Project set to the other.
If one wants things simple and easy, PrE is the choice, as it has a lot of Presets and does a lot of work behind the scenes, and is a complete package. If one wants control, and does not mind doing things by hand, and using Encore for authoring, then PrPro will allow that control and provide much more power.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
