Difference between App Server 10.1.3.1.0 and 10.1.2.0.2

Hi all,
What is the main difference between Oracle SOA Suite 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) and Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. I am looking for forms service and OC4J on linux ES 4. Does the SOA 10g Res 3 contains forms and report service ??? Please suggest me.
Thanks,
-james.

NO IT DOES NOT; You need 10.1.2

What is the exact difference between the App Server & Web Server?

What is the exact difference between the App Server &
Web Server?that is sort of like asking what is the difference between colour and
blue, but i will try to explain all the same.
i would define a web server as a server that provides HTTP service.
that is it provides access to resources using the www protocol standards.
i would define an application server as any server providing a service
through the use of some application specific protocol.
by this definition a web server is also an application server, but not
all application servers are web servers.
some Java examples of application servers that are not web servers would
be EJB, or how about practically anything using RMI.
to further confuse the issue some web servers are now acting as more
widely functional application services in an idea called web services.
the idea is to provide non-web based applications through HTTP using
    existing web servers.
for more on Java web services go here http://java.sun.com/webservices/
finally to illustrate the difference in a java-based way.

    }and...
    public class WebServer extends ApplicationServer{

Can it be that you are a little bit arrogant ?
Why you don't simply use that little text field on the left side of this page or use a search engine ?
    One example:

  • Differences between app copy utility and LCM

    Hi all
Our version of HFM now is 11.1.1.3.
we need to update it from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1.
First of all we update HFM in one Server ,and then we need to migrate it from one server to another .
Now what i want to know is the difference between app copy utility and LCM .
the following is i know :
Financial Management data migration is not supported in Lifecycle Management,so why users use lcm,we just need use app copy utility can solve all the Migration problems !
who can tell me that does "app copy utility" have any shortcomings ??
    thanks

actually the copy utility used for all the hfm applications are moved to new server.
for using lcm we can migrate the shared services users ,groups , icp, journal, etc
for my preference go for LCM...

  • The difference between VTP server and transparent mode on Catalyst Switch.

    Hello
I have a question about the difference between VTP server mode and VTP transparent mode on general catalyst switch.
Basically VTP server mode can create and modify VLAN configuration but  actually there is not any VLAN configuration through running-config, is it true?  When I checked it on Cat3550, certainly there is not VLAN configuration on VTP server mode. But VTP transparent can create VLAN and configuration but does not synchronize with other switch VLAN status. I appreciate any related information and reason of the VTP server mode specification, thank you very much.
    [VTP Transparent mode]
    3550#sh vtp status

    Hi mhiyoshi,
    3550#sh vtp status
    VTP Version                     : 2
    Configuration Revision          : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs        : 27
    VTP Operating Mode              : Transparent
    VTP Domain Name                 :

    VTP Traps Generation            : Disabled
    *omit
    3550#
    3550#sh run
    Building configuration...
    *omit
    vlan 99
     name TEST-VLAN
The above out put indicates that Vlan is created and then mode changed to transparent. i.e why revision no is 0.
    3550#sh vtp status
    VTP Version                     : 2
    Configuration Revision          : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs        : 27
    VTP Operating Mode              : Server
    VTP Domain Name                 :
    VTP Pruning Mode                : Disabled
    VTP V2 Mode                     : Disabled
    VTP Traps Generation            : Disabled
    *omit
    3550#
    3550#sh run
    Building configuration...
*no VLAN like above configuration on VTP transparent mode.
This indicates that vlan never created in server mode nor learnt from another switch as revision no is 0

  • What is the difference between apps and applications?

I have an application that I've been running on my older Mac. Now that I have a new MacBook Pro, I have to reinstall new software that is compatible. When I go to the vendor website I see an application I can download or a link to the Mac App Store. Is an application different than an app? When should you download them from a vendor website and when should you go to the app store? Do apps end up in the Launchpad and an application in your Applications folder? I can't seem to find information on what is the distinction. Are they actually two different things? Any help would be appreciated.

No difference between apps and applications. If you download the app from the Apple AppsStore you have better security and a conveninet place to have all your downloads. Nothing wrong with downloading from a trusted developer though.
EDIT: Yes they will either wind up in your Download folder as  a .dmg you will have to double-click on to install, or most app store apps will install to your Applications folder.

  • What is the difference between Component,Server,Tool and Software?

    HI,
What is the difference between Component,Server,Tool and Software?
    SHABEER

    Hi
Every individual part that constitutes in making an SAP System is called a COMPONENT.e.g DB instance, Java CI, ABAP CI etc
SERVER is the actual composition of different components of SAP.e.g. a database alongwith can instance would constitue an application server.
TOOLS are the products from different organisations (SAP or Non SAP) that can be used for different functionalities like keeping a check on jobs, monitoring of the system , e.g Tivoli
SOFTWARES are a kind of tool that help you to bring up results from the system in a user acceptable format. These are utilities that act as interfaces between the user and the system.

  • Difference between SQL SERVER 2008 & SQL SERVER 2012 & SQL SERVER 2014

    Difference between SQL SERVER 2008 & SQL SERVER 2012 & SQL SERVER 2014 ?

What sort of databases do you have OLTP? Data warehouse? What requirements do you have for High Availability?
The main features for SQL 2012/2014, as I see it:
o  Support for window functions, which makes it possible to write fast queries for running totals, sliding windows etc.
o  Columnstore indexes, which can speed up your data warehouse enormously. But of no interest for OLTP. Only writable in SQL 2014.
o  AlwaysOn and Availability Groups, a vastly improve story for high availability and disaster recovery.
o  try_convert/try_cast, you can now easily filter out values from a column which does not convert to a number. A small but essential feature.
o  In memory-OLTP, a new in-memory engine in SQL 2014. This far with very limited feature set, and quite specialised.
Of the points above, the second and third require Enterprise Edition, the first and fourth are in all editions. For the last, I don't think Microsoft has announced anything yet.
There are also new stuff in the BI area, but that's out of my league.
And, oh, there is a new licensing model - which I think is holding more than one customer back.

  • Difference between web server & application server

    Hi everybody ,
Pl .forgive me for my ignorance.I can't understand the difference between Application server & web server .
    KIndly help me .
    Thanks.

A web server basically just copies files over the network using HTTP. It needn't support server-side execution of any kind of application code (except the server itself, of course). Application servers, on the other hand, provide a platform for application development.
In the J2EE world the term "Application server" is usually used to distinguish a fully-fledged server with an EJB container and JMS (such as JBOSS or BEA Weblogic Server) from containers that only implement the web application container part of the J2EE spec (such as Tomcat or BEA Weblogic Express).

  • Difference between application server and central instance

    Hi everyone,
whats the difference between application server and central instance and message server. where it will be installed. and how?

    Hi,
just want to clarify that is is not correct that only one enqueue process can be configured on the CI.
Please see the documentation within transaction RZ11 for the parameter Parameter : rdisp/wp_no_enq
Short description : number of enqueue work processes
    Parameter description :
You can use this parameter to define the number of enqueue work processes for the instance.
Ensure that a value >0 is only set on the central instance that provides the enqueue server (instance rdisp/enqname ). One enqueue work process on the central instance is normally sufficient (rdisp/wp_no_enq = 1); only in very large systems can a higher value be useful.
    Kind Regards
